I love Lady Alcina Dimitrescu. But not in the way many others do - I don't have that fetish lol. I love her look, grace, grandeur and her emotional side shown in her aggression, anger and despair she shows at the deaths of her daughters. She and Donna are among the more sympathetic villains in Resident Evil since I see them as unwitting victims of Miranda and both simply wanted family and to be accepted by Miranda. Though whether they knew what it meant to be accepted by Miranda on the level of Rose or Eva is unclear to me. I do wish they had Ethan face the four lords in different order. I feel Alcina should have been one of the last along with Heisenburg. Moreau I think is the least like and the biggest failure of the four lords using Miranda's logic on the 'perfect vessel' and really had the least to offer in background and any emotional incentive to feel any measure of sympathy with - that makes villains less one dimensional and more shades of greys rather than a plain black and white. Donna would still be the second lord as much as I love her. I just wish Alcina was saved for a bit later if only because there was so much hype to her for fans that simply getting to her level gives many fans of her motive to get through the game on that alone. As amazing as her castle was I wish it were bigger. Technically Heisenburg had two areas for himself, the factory being especially humungous. Feels like Alcina got ripped off. About the dagger of death's flowers and why Alcina readily kept it on hand, I feel like she did it to make sure no one got a hold of it - probably Heisenburg in mind since I figure she's arrogant enough to think no mortal would manage to get to the dagger with her and her daughters patrolling the corridors of the castle. True her daughters can't get to the chapel/cathedral were it is but one still has to get through the castle & it's puzzles and thus her daughters before that. Naturally she didn't think that would ever happen. Sound plausible? Again great video. A glass of the finest Sanguis Virginis for you 🍷🩸
Yeah. Since pretty much every single window could be broken, why not have them be able to die almost anywhere and make them a bit more dangerous to face off against? Sure it would have been hell for speed runners, but would be interesting to see how they got around that. And... that baby can DIE IN A FIRE! 🙃
I agree. In fact, they could probably have made the whole game centered around Alcina as the only main villain (maybe with mother Miranda as the secret final encounter, similarly to Eveline in RE7), the castle as the main environment, and given the daughters bigger roles, expanded personalities, and greater variety in powers. Even though it worked fine the way it was made, I don't really think the game needed 4 other main villains + multiple other minibosses.
I was genuinely disappointed because they kept on showing her and her only and hyping her up in the trailers and teasers and she even had her own demo so I was thinking she was going to play a big role in the game only for her to barley have any screen time and just being the first boss you have to defeat. I genuinely feel like if she was the main antagonist in the game and we were in her castle for a bit longer she definitely would have been the perfect villain.
Exactly, I wish we could have played more inside the Dimitrescu Castle longer and she definitely deserved to have more screen time. I thought so myself that she would be a long term antagonist due to all the trailers they shown. In the end I did enjoy having her in Resident Evil Village and maybe in the DLC they'll give her more screen time.
Despite murdering a ton of people, I always thought that from her POV she just wanted to keep her daughters and herself alive, which could have been explored more if she had been given a bigger role in the plot, along with heisenberg. IMO her and heisenberg had way more of a presence than mother miranda, and I found their VA's portrayals as more memorable than her in the end.
Both she and Heisenberg were so much more interesting than Miranda and they had something in them that made them somewhat sympathetic despite doing some very evil stuff. Alcina genuinely loved her daughters and Heisenberg wanted to be free and was genuine about teaming up with Ethan. I wish that it would be possible for Ethan to be able to make an aliance with atleast one of them. I know RE isnt Steven Universe but I still think that it would be very interesting to have a secondary villain get a redemption(or something close to that) and help the protagonist fight the main one
I think it would be genius to give Alcina the ultimate redemption where she snaps, and as you finish battling her (assuming still in lady form) Alcina joins with you realizing how truly worthless she was to Miranda in the end, never being good enough could have bad consequences on Alcina as she joins Ethan and eventually maybe helps in letting Ethan get that final blow
What I would have loved is if you could have teamed up with Heisenberg, and in the end he does die, a way to have both redemption and a proper way to pay for his cruelty. But maybe that's just me.
Agreed. She wanted to care for herself and her daughters. Heisenberg wanted his freedom. They were both so interesting and well designed, with great areas to explore. Miranda is a good final boss, I guess, but Alcina and Heisen were far more fascinating and fleshed out.
Killed her off WAYYYY too early. After that, Donna’s section was different, and cool. But then Moreau was boring, and Heisenberg was annoying. She was the selling point for the game and killing her off 3 hours into a 12 hour game was a big mistake.
I think her being the first lord to go down is already a shame (I suppose it makes sense that they hyped her up because they didn't want to spoil much else in the meantime, but it did hype up Lady D almost excessively). If they did Moreau first as the weakest of the lords (almost as a tutorial of some kind, maybe killing him off-screen and then reappear later on) and then Donna (as she adds a sense of story to the game) you would have more time to build Lady D up. Heisenberg being the final lord is fine by me, as he's the most rebellious towards Miranda. But the constant looming threat of the castle is a shame to 'give away' first, I'd say.
You said it perfectly, maybe rearranging the sequence on how things went down against the four lords could have helped, especially with the hype with Alcina. I really hope they do cover more lore with these lords in the upcoming DLC
Agreed x100. Heisen was perfect for the final threat before Miranda. But having Alcina and her castle, both so darn prominant, just wasted first was a shame. You expect each level to be a bit bigger as you progress, so I really felt frustrated that Alcina was followed by a really short and quick Donna and Moreau levels. Would have made more sense for her to be just before Heisen near the end.
I love her so much but man I wanted her boss not to be first, the castle more in depth. She’s a great character. I hope the dlc gives her and the lords something.
Alcina really should've been the main villain, at least followed Ethan throughout the game or maybe teamed up with him when she realized that Miranda was using her and didn't need her anymore. She was what finally made me interested in this series and to find out that she's a short lived villain was so disappointing and frustrating. But I guess that's what happens when you get way too excited for a character that was never meant to be the main villain despite everything about her saying otherwise. Alcina and her daughters are so much more interesting than Miranda and they should have their own game, I hope Capcom does try to make up for this with the DLC.
Yeah I understand what you mean, I really wish she could have seen more screen time. It would be great to know more about the lore behind her family and maybe even the other ancestral lords of the Village.
C'mon, you do realize this is Capcom we're talking about right? When was the last time you seen the villain teaming up with the main hero? You're asking for too much in a resident evil game 😅
Capcom didn't even know about the large alcina simps... Only until the game was revealed was when the memes started coming out... By that time it was too late
@Good For Nutting they marketed her because she randomly became popular with everyone. That’s what marketing is. They’re appealing to what’s popular, not what the game is about
I always felt that she simply wanted to protect her daughters and herself. The whole story line of mother Miranda was just lacking to me. Lady Dimitrescu showed more promise but she was held back in the game. Miranda was not a good finally Boss and she didn't leave an impression either like Lady D did. Hopefully DLC will giver her more history and depth. Plus I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Ada Wong to show up in there.
Imagine a DLC where you play at Lady D, perhaps before Ethan came, hunting down some people who broke into your castle beforehand, and you learn more about both her and her daughters
The only thing that made me go from "Woah" to "oh..." about the game is that the hype train made me think all four lords were somewhat the founders of Umbrela, so allegedly we would have a lot of lore from all of them, including Alcina. The direction the story actually took kinda felt lackluster and turned four potentially formidable foes into 4 minions to a grieving mother. In the end, they made an excelent character, but didn't know how to use her.
Same. I thought that it was gonna be that umbrella was like an almost ancient society that eventually became the corporation we know it as now. That’s the feeling the trailers gave me
When everyone got excited for Alcina, Capcom could have made a few changes. Keep everything the same in the beginning when you meet the four lords, except the tunnel to escape the lycans takes you back to the village instead of the castle. Meet the duke, explore more of the village, Doll mansion, back to the village, Moreau's windmill, werewolf woods, then Dimitrescu castle, followed by the factory, Chris's campaign, and then the final fight with mother Miranda.
the fact that they outdid themselves with RE7’s Jack Baker, and RE3’s Nemesis and how they constant mutate over the game put this false hype in our heads that she was going to be designed the same. but she was just rushed.
I maintain that Village should've been from the point of view of Mia rather than Ethan. Lady D could be a MUCH bigger presence in the game, and you'd get the narrative foil of these two women opposing each other in a fight for the survival of their daughters. Plus the offer from Heisenberg to work together with the idea of Mia turning him down as a way to show she truly does prioritize the rebuilding of her life and family over her past work with the Connections would be GREAT. Would also let us actually get an in-depth look into her very vague, but potentially fascinating history with the Connections instead of Mia spending two games needing to be rescued.
They should've made her more like Mr X or Nemesis in terms of an intelligent enemy you have to outsmart, instead of what essentially boiled down to a 9ft tall Road Block you have to run around. Honestly if Mother Miranda wasn't the primary antagonist of RE Village it should've been Lady Dimitrescu considering her finally fight with that dragon form felt more like a Grand Finale Boss Fight.
Yeah I wish we could have seen here with other abilities as well. So she was a Tyrant like figure already so it would have been great to upgrade her compared to Nemesis or even Mr X
Spicy idea, make her into mother Miranda. Like mother Miranda is just this absolutely religiously followed figure to the townspeople. So it would be easier to pretend she's still alive instead of Dimitrescu attempting to take over her role. So when she dies at the start, she actually doesn't along with her daughters. They just faked their death. Idk for what, maybe to slow you down so they can start to gather your weak points. (Daughters can be fake Miranda) It would Heisenburg so much more interesting as well. Would also be interesting to see what she would do with Ava. Maybe like keep her alive as some odd testament to Mother Miranda. And the way she has power over Heisenburg is that she's more open to using Ava to further her experiments. So she stronger cause of that? Idk Mother Miranda feels like a character that's better to have as a large looming presence that's almost forgotten. Idk, haven't watched the story in a long time. Plus not very educated on the rest of the RE series.
She should have been the main villian. I was legit scared as hell when she started walking around looking for me. The voice actress was AMAZIKNG and the character design was perfect.
They should've left Lady Dimitrescu and her castle as the last boss fight before Mother Miranda, because she played such an iconic and important role in the game. Absolutely my favorite game villain of all time.
She was the perfect villian for the game. Not only was she more interesting than Miranda, but she had a more memorable personality than just about any other in the game (yes, that even includes Ethan himself). The fact that she went so underused with her castle being the perfect environment and atmosphere for the game is a bit infuriating to say the least. Imo, RE8 should've been Alcina's game with Heisenberg acting as either the Luis Sera or William Birkin for the game. I really couldn't care less for the other two lords, Beneviento and Moreau. They were the least memorable (except for that baby abomination).
I dont understand why they advertised her so much only for her to be a side antagonist in the end. Even back then when i watched the trailers i thought she was gonna run the whole show but turns out shes just a side peice that gets little to no interaction. Waisted opportunitie on capcoms part.
i liked both Alcina and Donna the best honestly one kept more in line with pt and the other what re is about in away and with donna they really could of done more with her as well
The DLC neeeds to be a prequel to a time before Ethan arrives in the Village. And end when Mother Miranda transforms into Mia and arrives in Ethan's house.
Yes Capcom definitely fucked up badly on making her a side villain rather than the main villain. She is the whole reason Re8 is a decent game, her castle is the best section and most memorable. Just so much missing potential.
She’s not the only reason this is a good game. As a whole this is by far my favorite RE game to date. In fact both 7 and 8 were really great games. Before finally playing this game, I watched a trailer 1 time, played no demos so the game wasn’t really spoiled for me. One of my favorite games of all time by far. 9.5/10 at least for me.
@@ericmckay7486 I absolutely agree! In this game, it really felt like Ethan was merely a pawn, and that helplessness was almost as awesome as the crippling helplessness of Dragon age Origins. To me, I enjoyed feeling like a little weakling who was grinding/climbing my way to the top.
Honestly she should have been given her own game, she is the best part of Village by far and away. Her character is so fun and compelling, the castle is exquisite and such a joy to explore and traverse, I didn't want it to end! I loved the House Beneviento portion as well and if Village had kept the themes and tone from those two sections it would have been perfect in my eyes. The last half completely lost me and I didn't care about Miranda at all. Such a disappointing end and massive missed opportunity.
I wished Lady D was the origin point for the Tyrant program like that one theory suggested. With all the Umbrella logos around, this would have made her more interesting. Umbrella trying to make Tyrant (Mr X and Nemesis) soldiers based on Lady Dimitrescu would have made her a lot better. Capcom knew what they were doing when the internet fell in love with her. I bet she was always intended to be minor but went ham on her marketing for the game. I don't think people would buy this is it wasn't for Lady Dimitrescu. I think having Heisenberg being the first boss and Lady D being the house boss would have worked more. I was more confused as to why Heisenberg was late when werewolves we're the first thing you fight. But yeah Lady D for life. She became my favorite gal after Helena and Sheva.
That would have been an amazing scenario of having Alcina as foundational set point to how a Tyrant was supposed to be and as you mentioned the Umbrella Logo was already present within the Village area and they could have played the story a little different to fit that change in plot.
@@HeYDeVuH I would have also had Lady Dimitrescu be the sub boss with Mother Miranda since Dimitrescu was going on about her at the beginning of the game. It just seemed to make the most sense to have the team up.
@@jeremyknight9980 Honestly it's something I'm noticing within the newer RE games (7 and 8) they create such fascinating, and memorable villains only for them to be cut out like a side piece. An example of this is Lucas Baker or Heisenberg. Lucas Baker was such an entertaining villain like his dad, he even could've opened up possibilities for us to delve into the world of illegal trade of bioweapons in RE. However, I guess Capcom didn't want that.
I wish they would explored Alcina's story more. I personally hate when they go make us look for a baby even though we have no time to like actually care about the kid. Like 5 mins in an the kid is gone, at least make it more interesting. But i would of loved if they explored parenthood a little bit more. Ik its a horror thing and all but from Alcina's POV, she's trying to protect her daughters and herself etc. Its motherhood and even in the game she says "How dare you speak of saving your daughter when you've murdered mine!". Like that's emotional ngl but there I was, looking for a half mouldy baby in pickle juice. But maybe I'm reading too much into it. I do love lore. Also, considering the promo and advertisement, she should of had a bigger role. Was kinda disappointed ngl.
Still think Mia should have been the main character for this one and they should have explored her job with the connections and made it a story about 3 mothers (alcina Miranda and Mia) fighting for their daughters
@@Juanmaligno 100% would have been more interesting. Especially since we don't really get an Ethan and baby connection. But at least Mia gave birth so there's sympathy there.
Idk, having a "traditional fight" with Lady D would be wired... She's not a fighter, she's a Lady, that doesn't fight like a top tier mercenary or a greatest swordsman - and making her a such fighter would be so much out of character that we got to know through the whole castle part
How did none of the villagers ever question the disappearances of their friends and loved ones??? And they never questioned lady D’s height? Or Moreau’s monstrous form…? Like these villagers never question anything at all or even bother to leave
They worshipped Mother Miranda and if she considered the lords her children they accepted that. This is my understanding. Plus the 4 houses founded the village
I'm pretty sure that monster form of hers was meant for an unused character. So it kind of makes sense that it feels a little out of place or rushed when she changes. Maybe it was just something cool the devs wanted to have in the game and just decided to throw it into Lady D instead.
Imagine the dlc of this game is ethan surviving. I don’t care what people say but I love ethan. He’s not a badass like Chris and knows it. Yet still puts himself through the mud just for the possibility to save his family. An when he finds out he’s nothing more than mold, he still believes he’s a human father and acts like one
I'll say this, Even though Jack Baker is my favorite RE villain, Lady D wasn't too bad. My only issue was that she was very underused, which is why I think Heisenberg is better. Out of all the stalkers, she's the least scary, and stressful. Now if she was faster then I'd be concerned but she wasn't. However I will say her elegance and personality really did shine, however, she was overshadowed by Heisenberg, and past RE villains.
You made a good point, I think she should have been a bit faster and possibly have more that one kind of standard attack. Also yes I wish they could have used her during the storyline in Resident Evil Village.
Im glad that people like her not just bcs she's a tall vampire lady, but bcs she's a solid character. The way she has power in the way she talks and how she cares deeply for her daughters really makes me love her even more
I like your take, but I also appreciate that she was modeled after Dracula who also has a similar "final form". I agree that a more claustrophobic setting could have made it better though!
I totally see the Dracula inspo because she reminds me of a giant Elizabeth Bathory (drinking the blood of maidens and the finger claws replacing scissors), aka The Blood Countess & Countess Dracula.
The whole castle was so big (beautiful too) and the daughters had a lot more potential I feel like instead of them being just "yeah lets fight em" they could have easily made them some sort of "tease" factor. The bugs theybare made of can easily take shape of anything as far as we know so they could've messed with the players head, mimicked things, in the corner of ur eyes or "poking" u from behind and then disappearing
I'm almost tempted to call Dimitrescu a clickbait; yes, her character is legitimately good, well-written, and well-designed, but all in all, her role in the game is very minimal. Once we're past the Castle, she's no more, we move on to something else. However... I don't know if I appreciate this, or not. Although I could not have cared less for her when hyping up (I was more excited by the game itself than her), I can fully understand the disappointment in the 'false expectancy'. But, nonetheless... Despite the many people saying they would have wished she was the main antagonist and final boss, I don't think I would've liked that all that much either; it would almost have been too much, too obvious, and if I had to choose a villain to be the main one - aside from Miranda -, I would've selected Heisenberg instead of Alcina, 'cause he has a lot of depths to me, and would have been very interesting as a long-time running antagonist. But nonetheless, yeah, the hype and expectations that surrounded her throughout the release's wait were eventually not met once the game came out.
I'm late to this party, but I agree with you and everyone in the comments about her being so hyped up by the extensive marketing focused entirely on her, including the demo being about her, that it gave everyone the false implication she would be much more important than she actually was as a result. There are so many fascinating things about her that are alluded to and implied throughout her castle but were never explored, ranging from the history of her sadistic royal family lineage to the fact that she has an entire backstory outside of the village we know nothing about to her devotion to her three daughters as a mother, which humanized her in spite of her bloodthirsty cruelty. It is just so strange to me that for a character based off Dracula, a huge gothic horror icon, she was the first lord to be killed off. It just made the pacing of the rest of the game feel off, and aside from Donna, I personally didn't like the other lords that much, since I found Moreau boring and Heisenberg campy and cheesy. After Alcina died, it was weird that the game kept showing her castle even though she and her daughters were dead at that point. Miranda's shapeshifting, analogy as a wicked witch and connection to Oswell E. Spencer were cool elements, but there wasn't much about her to suggest a much deeper depth of character underneath the surface like we saw with Alcina. I think it would have been really interesting to explore a contrasting dynamic between Alcina and Miranda as the game went on given that Miranda has spent a century trying to resurrect her daughter, while meanwhile Alcina has three of them, and perhaps there could have been some jealousy from Miranda and defiance from Alcina after she realized Miranda didn't care about her. Either that or she should have just been the main antagonist altogether and been the leader of the houses instead of Miranda. Such a waste of a cool, elegant and mysterious original villain.
It's probably just typical villain hubris. She probably didn't expect Ethan to get past all three daughters let alone find the only obscure fatal weapon that could injure her hidden away so deep in her own castle. Maybe she also thought by keeping it in the castle that would somehow keep it a secret from someone that would try to make a similar weapon based off it?
Part of me wished that at the end of the Boss fight, Alcina would've crashed into a different part of the Castle & would later return as a Tyrant similar to Morpheus from Dead Aim.
That's right that would have been an interesting take as well in terms of Mutation. I can see her also having the middle form like William Birkin instead of going from a humanoid form to a large Dragon Mutation.
she need a large role and Donna too. I wanted so much a boss battle like 1° form the normal battle with Angie and the 2° form she mutate with some dolls and Angie to fight.
Nah not really. They only used her for marketing because they didn't expect her to blow up despite only showing up for a few seconds in a trailer. I don't blame them this time.
My one and only issue is that Alcina's style is from the 1930s not the Victorian Era, especially when paired with her cigarette holder. Not to mention Alcina was born around 1914 and was 44 when she was given the cadou
While I agree that I wish we had more of her, I believe the pacing of the story and the amount of time each of the other lords got was well executed imo.
You know someone commented that Resident Evil Village was in a way an Amusement park of different Horror styles, so it made sense that it was a little short for Alcina's portion
Alcina "Lady" Dimitrescu was the best of the 4 Lord's you face in RE Village, Ethan was tortured by Alcina and her daughters in many cruel ways, he was impaled in his hands and legs and was put up for display in her room, chased by Alcina and her vampire daughters in her castle much like how Mr.X and Nemesis chased you in RE 2 & 3, as Ethan began to kill Alcina's daughters the angrier she got, truly just wanting to outright kill Ethan herself and not care about Mother Miranda's special ceremony, as she continues to chase you though her castle you cannot stop her at all, she is completely invincible and the only way you can deal with her is out run her and hopefully you'll lose her, once all of her daughters have been killed you do have to face Alcina Dimitrescu as the boss of her castle, I personally don't like this method but this is the only way you can truly hurt her, is by stabbing her with this very old poison dagger and she does start to mutate, she turns into a massive dragon Chimera like monster and is a very cool boss fight, as she lies dying the mold in her starts to harden and turn into dust and Alcina Dimitrescu is no more, i really did like Alcina Dimitrescu as a great villain in Resident Evil Village, she was so close to being the perfect villain but her only flaw was that she could only be hurt as a boss, other than that she was a real good character and I really enjoyed her, I am really impressed on how you covered Alcina "Lady" Dimitrescu so well, you did a great job here HeY DeVuH and I do look forward to whoever cover next ✌️
I think the choice to lead the marketing with her was very smart - not just because she's prime meme fodder, but also because it makes it kind of a shock when she's killed relatively early on. That showed a lot of confidence in the project, that they could create an iconic villain just for the sake of the first couple of hours of the game. Like the Bienviento House, and the Jack Baker house stalking in RE7, I think it's great that they didn't feel the need to overstretch these sections.
Yeah, I fully agree. Her stalker methods could’ve been used to a fully potential in the whole game, like random moments throughout the village, and even going so far as the other enemies vanishing from sight when she shows up. Also, thanks for pointing out the dagger logic. It’s essentially the same logic as the Wicked Witch having that bucket of water so nearby (and probably even more absurd than that). I loved her overall, but yeah, she was killed off WAY too soon.
Very true, I wish we could have had more lore behind the dagger and maybe even an extensive background on the person who used it against Alcina in the past.
In a way there is a bit of sense keeping close the thing that could kill you (though the bucket of water and the witch was....well, I dunno if she ever drank water, but if her subjects did I would personally at LEAST keep how much was on hand TIGHTLY monitored) but I laughed at the irony the first time I saw it. Cause like....that's not what I call specially hidden or whatever, you just gotta find the right path and, oop, here's a murder weapon specifically for her kind! Like that was just crappy planning on someone's part...
I generally wish I got to see the Lords interacting with each other more. I feel like if the meeting between all of them wasn't one of the first things we saw, there would have been an opportunity to see them more together. In the trailer, I thought that section would have happened after the castle segment and Ethan would have been put on trial for actually doing something worth punishing him for. And, imagining a situation after the initial boss fights where the Lords somehow come back as their mutated selves and fight Ethan at the same time at the ceremony site would have been incredibly satisfying because it would come full circle where the Lords put aside their differences and unite under one thing: vengeance. That would have made those characters even more dynamic. But, for what we got, after I killed Dimitrescu the first time, it left a huge impact on the rest of the game in a very bold, but good way, especially since she was the face of the hype and the teasers. It felt like, "OMG, I just basically finished the game. There can't be much more after this." Then I walked over to the Duke and that interaction completely flipped that impression to being, "Oh sh--, that was just the beginning." That was such a wildcard for me even though I was sad there wouldn't be anymore interactions with Dimitrescu.
Only thing I'd like to add to what you said about her character design is that her outfit is almost perfectly identical to an outfit worn by a fashion model in 1938. The only difference are the flowers which might be to represent her 3 daughters
I think all of the lords were kinda rushed and shafted when it comes to gameplay. Which is such a shame because they're all really well thought out, and would have been the absolute highlight if they each had separate games dedicated to them; which honestly Resi8 should have been diced up into chapters of average game length, instead of being cramped into just one short game.
Honestly, somehow Alcina and Heisenberg were the best villains in the game. And Alcina was defeated way to fast. I would have loved more if she was the final or second final boss to Miranda. Even her castle was a huge maze to explore. It was really disappointing how small and quick Donna and Moreau's areas were right after Alcina and her castle. =T
I loved Alcina Dimitrescu! I would love to see her have her own game, like a prequel of her origins. But, unfortunately, she is too great of a character to not be revisited.
Like in your previous video about Tyrants Lady Dimitrescu was both Intelligent, Sentient, & Strong, (also Beautiful 😊). & unlike other Tyrant models she was virtually invincible to any attacks while other Tyrants like Mr X or Nemesis who when they took serious damage over time would lose their intelligence & mutate into even more deadlier forms when released from their trench coat limiters. Lady Dimitrescu didn't have any of these drawbacks.
That's true and even after her mutation she still retained full cognition and was still able to communicate with Ethan. Also we can logically assume that she can return back to her original form since she did mention that Mother Miranda saw her in that form before.
I think it would have been better if the Lord's Order was Fish Boy, Doll Queen, Tall Mommy then Angry Sunglasses Man. Her section was so surprisingly short, and her presence was so big. She and her daughters deserved more hype by the time you got to them.
The most unusual thing here is how Ethan found the dagger when he was not even actively looking for it (read it in a file only, stumbled upon it by chance).
Lady D's 9ft behind, definitely had me feeling my 4'11ft self because when I came home from visiting my daughter's house after watching this game like a movie as she played, I was calling my hubby a "man-thing" threatening to "BREAK" him if he didn't remember my favorite body wash? He called our daughter and asked "U girls were playing that game again, huh?" LOL I had a huge girl crush on her and it really pissed us off that we had to wait all that time being teased and enchanted by her, just so she can be killed off first and I loved being in that castle!!!
Great video !! Thx 🥰 !! In my opinion .. her role could be bigger of course and she should be the 4th boss !! ( Heisenberg First .. then Moreau, then Donna and last Alcina ). ! I hope that the DLC is something about the castle 😍😍😍
Good points and yeah I wish we could have had more of Alcina during the course of the game. Also yes I hope that they address this in the DLC and maybe we can see a prequel kind of event focusing more on the Villagers/Alcina/and maybe even Chris
That would have been scary. Also It would have been a nice twist to see Alcina and Heisenberg fight it out in a way during that part of the game but you'll be in the middle of the chaos.
@@HeYDeVuH yes that would of been insane. Imagine if the plot was about them going to war against each other. While you and the village are caught up in the middle. Mother Miranda could of been cut from the game completely or turned into a mind controlled Mia or just be a bow puppet lady D created as a figure head.
The idea of a fight with her in the Tower of Worship or other claustrophobic space is great. Imagine her half mutated (like we see after she’s stabbed - just wings and tail) flying around and slashing with her claws.
When I first played it, I was like why's he had to be the first to go...😢 She should have been the last before mother miranda! They should extend her story in the next RE!
I absolutely loved her. To me, she's tied with with classic RE3 Nemesis and Jack Baker. I can't begin to describe the disappoint that I'd felt when her segment ended. It was so sudden, no real build up, no precursor confrontation. Just a sudden transformation, albeit amazing, and her demise. I can't wait for the DLC, I'm hoping that they'll give her more time in the spotlight!
The Castle was by far my fav part of the game, with Lady D and her daughters making it all way better. I couldn't believe my eyes when she was lying on the ground in her dragon form completely dead, I for sure thought she was going to be the final boss or at least one near to the end, but NEVER the very first one. Would've been amazing making the castle some sort of hub, like when you first visit it, you have to kill one of the daughters while Lady D stalks you, then you leave and kill the first lord, then go back to the castle and kill another daughter while Lady D is still on the chase and you have to find another way out to find and kill the next lord, rinse and repeat until Lady D is the last one.
Alcina, Karl, and even Donna all had the potential to have some incredible and genuinely thrilling boss fights. I felt like the game was trying to squeeze all the basics in and ultimately a lot of intriguing stuff was cut out
I DO feel that she should have had a bigger role, preferably as you stated but i cant say i was disappointed. I absolutely loved everything about her. I just wish she wasn't 1 and done. Great vid man.
Based on Miranda's report on Lady Dimestrescu, shows that she was actually very close to the vessel Miranda was looking for. We as the player killed the most powerful boss, first.
Honestly, I feel like Moreau was the weakest of the lot and really his whole section could have been cut out to give the others more time to really shine and have more depth given to them. Village was amazing but it did feel like there were too many 'main villains' fighting for the spotlight and that we didn't get enough time with each of them.
He's poorly written, the bastard got lots of potentials. Notice the first signage you see from his domain is "Moreau's clinic". An underground area would be so good with the experiments he did. Also why the fuck he has that cool pistol as hidden treasure.
For sure. He had a lot of potential. If they weren't going to expand on him then they should have saved the space for the others. Village should have been a longer game (i know it's already pretty long) with slower pacing to give every element it's time to shine and the depth each lord deserved.
In my opinion I liked the fact ethan got to face the 4 lords however........i feel that Chris should have fought the biggest threats which was Alcinia and Hiesenburg tbh.....mainly because it would have been good to see Chris deal with the heavy hitters and not let ethan pull miracles out of his ass. Hiesenburg knew about chris already and chris was about to take on karl but Ethan story ig....... As for Alcina it would just been enjoyable to see chris take on someone victorian and similar to his old rival wesker.
Playing this on PSVR2 so far has been an amazing experience. Just finished RE4 remake in vr and I just couldn’t get over the graphics and how amazing they were. Great video!
They should make a DLC where you play as one of the maidens and after you've made a mistake, they come after you. Maybe they can then chase you like how people wanted it to be like with Mr X. I think that could be really cool and also give us some more of the castle.
So weird this video popped up. No joke last night I had a dream about her no idea why. I was lost in the abandoned city, then I heard footsteps behind me. It was her! Seriously she pulled out her claws while walking over to me then said, "what? Are you mad because I killed you?" Then I woke up. I wasn't playing the game or anything the night before. So weird
The wine that Miranda (as Mia) served in her dinner with Ethan can be found in Castle Dimitrescu. I don’t remember if it’s in the dining room or in the room where lies the Sanguis Virginis’ puzzle, but it’s also “Regina Rosa”. It’s not too wrong to think that Ethan was drinking maiden’s blood while Miranda was infiltrated in his house.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw kind of wine “Mia” was serving Ethan must have been the same kind of wine made from Castle Dimitrescu especially when she said “local wine” which is quite chilling when you think about it.
I think the reason why she kept the thing that could killed her in her castle is so that she can keep watch of it, the only mistake she did tbh is that she kept several informations of its whereabouts in her castle or even the fact that she left several hints that it is in her castle
It would’ve been interesting if Castle Dimitresqu served the same purpose as RCPD, a main location you return to over and over while taking down the lords. Maybe on each visit, you take down a sister, gain a key item, and leave to go after a different lord (except the last, where you’d have the boss fight with her before heisenburg). It’d give her a similar feel to Mr. X, and give her MUCH more of a presence. It would also play into a nemesis story of sorts, where every time you go back, you know you have to face her and her growing rage at losing her daughters.
Lady D could have been the main villain with her daughters each being a unique boss. One does flies, the other illusions, one could even be half werewolf with Lady D, stalking you throughout the stages becoming progressively angrier or more mutated by absorbing her daughters after each boss fight using what she learns as she stalks you. The can climax into a final fight with her demonic dragon form ultimately leaving her crystalized when you beat her and rescue your daughter and maybe Mia if you get the good ending.
Hahahaha that's true, also it makes you wonder if Alcina would be completely gone or somewhere inside while Eva occupies it that she could still influence her in some capacity.
My personal "I would like" - the entire castle should have been revisited. Killed two daughters, be stalked, escape, go back after two lords (while having a rare-ish nemesis experience with the remaining daughter.) Go back and kill the remaining daughter, unlock half the other castle while she's stalking you furiously and then have to face her. RE8 was an incredible game, but they built up Lady so much in marketing that it's really put me off pre-ordering. Edit - she also had one of the best lore-wise reasons to have such a stronghold overlooking the village. The 1-2-3-4 lord thing bugged me about this. In my perfect RE world it would have been 1-3-4-2-1-4
Very interesting video! I think Lady D, the other lords and Mother Miranda were a great bunch of villains with interesting backstories and motivations - it's just a shame we didn't see more of them! (Hopefully DLC will sort that out!) I do find the scene where she transforms a bit dumb in the way it's set up though - she grabs Ethan's hand with the knife so stop him using it, then stabs him with her nails, but then he somehow has his other hand free and stabs her with the knife? Also, why isn't he wounded at all after getting stabbed with her claws? Also, I wish we could have parts of the story as actual cutscenes - like we get most of the game from Ethan's perspective, and then more traditional cutscenes near the end, but having separate scenes where we see the Lords and what they are up to would have been really cool to see!
Yes that would have been really good to have more Cutscenes without Ethan's perspective but I have a theory on that which I'll cover in a separate video.
I think it would've been a go to for Ethan to escape the castle prior to Lady Dimitrescus death (after he kills the daughters) and for the lady to turn into her dragon form due to the lack of resources in the village (everyone's dead or a lycan) and for her to stalk Ethan from the air until later in the game when he finally finds the dagger (maybe in Moreau's cave?).
Capcom really made it look like Lady Dimitrescu was the main villain in 8 she was in all the trailers and marketing and was shown more but this wasn't the case Capcom do love tricking consumers.
Personally, I like the transformation into the dragon. The cadou, or “gift” translated from Romanian, is this monstrous, distorted and mutated virus that infects its hosts and changes them. Alcina was *almost* perfect in the eyes of Mother Miranda because she stayed fairly humanoid, but she realized that Alcina deep down was a monstrous beast. The gift had transformed her into a monster and therefore she wasn’t suitable for Mother Miranda. If she wasn’t the beast, then Mother Miranda might have settled for her being Eva’s host. It really tells us Alcina’s tragic past and present. We knew her as this beautiful, sociopathic and terrifying lady, but her transforming into a giant and warped being shows us that we truly have no grasp on what we know to be true, we have no grasp on the likes of this world.
Let me know what you guys think of the video and Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, Thanks everyone!!!!
Hey HeY DeVuH.
Finally Lady D video.
I absolutely love Lady D, she’s definitely in my top 3 favorite Resident Evil characters 💖
A glass of the finest Sanguis Virginis for you 🍷🩸
@@elizabethlovett4318 jeez, wrote a whole story lol😂
I also feel the daughter's were killed off way to fast as well. That castle had such potential.
That too, I think they should have had a larger role within the Castle as well
Yeah. Since pretty much every single window could be broken, why not have them be able to die almost anywhere and make them a bit more dangerous to face off against? Sure it would have been hell for speed runners, but would be interesting to see how they got around that.
And... that baby can DIE IN A FIRE!
🙃
Fucking same!!! it doesn't help that they have a lot of unused lines. Bela is my favorite.
Yeah I was sad to leave the castle
I was genuinely disappointed because they kept on showing her and her only and hyping her up in the trailers and teasers and she even had her own demo so I was thinking she was going to play a big role in the game only for her to barley have any screen time and just being the first boss you have to defeat.
I genuinely feel like if she was the main antagonist in the game and we were in her castle for a bit longer she definitely would have been the perfect villain.
I am glad she's not the main antagonist. So overrated.
That's the power of marketing. I don't blame capcom because they didn't expect her to get popular from just a few seconds in a trailer
@@HeYDeVuH they need to give her a dlc.
@@HeYDeVuH well if there is dlc maybe well see parts of the castle thats blocked off otherwise its not really worth it.
Yes that's a good point and I do hope we get to explore more of her background in the upcoming DLC
Alcina is a perfect DLC contender. People love her and we all want to see more of her
'Despite murdering a ton of people' Yeah pretty sure that removes all things that could save her reputation.
@@wavecraftplays8534 well Joker, Vaas etc might disagree
@@monkeigh4336 Well the joker isn't the good guy either.
But maybe that's just me.
do you have a fetish of giant wiman? strangely the song giant woman describe my feelings toward alcina
Agreed. She wanted to care for herself and her daughters. Heisenberg wanted his freedom. They were both so interesting and well designed, with great areas to explore. Miranda is a good final boss, I guess, but Alcina and Heisen were far more fascinating and fleshed out.
Those make great twists, it happened in The Outfit and it was epic seeing a Nazi take down other Nazis because he was done with the whole of it.
Killed her off WAYYYY too early. After that, Donna’s section was different, and cool. But then Moreau was boring, and Heisenberg was annoying. She was the selling point for the game and killing her off 3 hours into a 12 hour game was a big mistake.
Yeah I was a bit bummed that she was the first of the lords to go. I thought maybe she could have been the last we would face
They should have been in reverse order to be honest.
Pretty sure they created her as the purpose of her being the selling point
@@HeYDeVuH same,i was expecting her to be this nemesis or mr x type enemies
Right she should’ve been last
I think her being the first lord to go down is already a shame (I suppose it makes sense that they hyped her up because they didn't want to spoil much else in the meantime, but it did hype up Lady D almost excessively).
This would have been much better.
I love her so much but man I wanted her boss not to be first, the castle more in depth. She’s a great character. I hope the dlc gives her and the lords something.
Her mutation didn't have to be so hideous and grotesque. Killed the character for Me. Thank the internet for mods. Ooo lala
@Good For Nutting or a bigger version of herself but with dragon-like wings
@@ADG.Est.1988 i think its suppose to be like that since its a horror game
@Good For Nutting lmfao, no. Nothing about her character works long term
But Miranda was a Good Final Boss
@Good For Nutting that was hilariously accurate
anna ooop-
Imagine a DLC where you play at Lady D, perhaps before Ethan came, hunting down some people who broke into your castle beforehand, and you learn more about both her and her daughters
That'd be an awesome perspective to have, maybe even cover the events with that Assasin using the poison dagger and how she caught him
Hi I'm from the future, and the DCL trailer has just come out.
Well you pretty much predicted it
Her castle may be Victorian. But Lady D is 1930's glamour
That would have been a great story point.
@@HeYDeVuH The actual connection turned out to be a bit more indirect. (The founder used the same symbol as Miranda as a tribute to her.)
Yeah it would have been a good change of pace if done that way also having her as a later boss would be fitting
This would have been perfect exactly as you laid it out. The castle and the factory were obviously more final levels.
the fact that they outdid themselves with RE7’s Jack Baker, and RE3’s Nemesis and how they constant mutate over the game put this false hype in our heads that she was going to be designed the same. but she was just rushed.
That's an excellent point. Also count in Mr.X and well he was developed
@Chandler Burse lol ye Nemesis was terrible compared to Mr X
That would have been a great plot to cover. Maybe they could do it for the next Resident evil game in line.
Love this idea!
Yo, this is actually a great idea. I never thought about Mia being the main character in Village.
Mia was a bad ass special agent who know how to use a sub machine gun that would have been awesome
I didn't even think about that but omg what a missed opportunity to have Mia be the main character
I forgot mother miranda exists because she barely has any screentime
Yeah I wish we could have seen here with other abilities as well. So she was a Tyrant like figure already so it would have been great to upgrade her compared to Nemesis or even Mr X
I wish she also had more screen time as well.
Design wise it fits with the game information. She regenerates at a rate that makes her invincible. Tyrants can't do that.
(Daughters can be fake Miranda)
It would Heisenburg so much more interesting as well. Would also be interesting to see what she would do with Ava. Maybe like keep her alive as some odd testament to Mother Miranda.
And the way she has power over Heisenburg is that she's more open to using Ava to further her experiments. So she stronger cause of that? Idk
Mother Miranda feels like a character that's better to have as a large looming presence that's almost forgotten.
Idk, haven't watched the story in a long time. Plus not very educated on the rest of the RE series.
the developers really missed the opportunity using this character. Alcina should be the final boss after Miranda. Say before the big explosion ending.
this makes me hope that they do a prequel DLC featuring Alcina again and seeing things from the Villagers perspective.
@@coffintears5821 it’s oblivious why the advertises her so much Lmfao. Because fans went crazy over her

The DLC neeeds to be a prequel to a time before Ethan arrives in the Village. And end when Mother Miranda transforms into Mia and arrives in Ethan's house.
That would be a great DLC scenario and I really do hope they go that route
Its crazy how the developers really didn't think Alcina would be as popular as she is.
Yes Capcom definitely fucked up badly on making her a side villain rather than the main villain. She is the whole reason Re8 is a decent game, her castle is the best section and most memorable. Just so much missing potential.
Benievento was really good too!
@@ericmckay7486
I absolutely agree!
Umbrella basing their tyrants off of her would've been so cool, yet another reason why her being misused is so frustrating.
@@jeremyknight9980 It was all there, too. Giant person, sword fingers, Umbrella logos. Lady D you were done dirty 😭
Great points!! Totally agree. This game was a mess to me.
Yep, you’ve hit on everything I wanted to say!
@@Juanmaligno the core thread was literally right there in front of them and they didnt take it
I enjoyed how the daughters had different personalities (Almost like the Powerpuff Girls) and the single mom vibe from Lady D.
The castle, daughters and Lady D could've been the whole game and it might've been even stronger an experience than as it is right now.
I thought the same thing as well, because if I were in their shoes I would have left the village a long time ago if I saw a 9'6" lady
They worshipped Mother Miranda and if she considered the lords her children they accepted that. This is my understanding. Plus the 4 houses founded the village
It's a village lol they can't just leave their way of life
@@Juanmaligno Sure can
I'm pretty sure that monster form of hers was meant for an unused character. So it kind of makes sense that it feels a little out of place or rushed when she changes. Maybe it was just something cool the devs wanted to have in the game and just decided to throw it into Lady D instead.
Yeah it was originally supposed to be for the Village leader and it's understandable that they didn't want to waste an asset that they made already.
You said it perfectly!!!
Jack definitely is the best RE villain indeed!
“Eeeeeeeeethaaannnn!”
Yeah it would have been great to have more of that maze cat and mouse chase against her.
@@HeYDeVuH agreed!! 🤯🫣
I totally see the Dracula inspo because she reminds me of a giant Elizabeth Bathory (drinking the blood of maidens and the finger claws replacing scissors), aka The Blood Countess & Countess Dracula.
The whole castle was so big (beautiful too) and the daughters had a lot more potential
I feel like instead of them being just "yeah lets fight em" they could have easily made them some sort of "tease" factor. The bugs theybare made of can easily take shape of anything as far as we know so they could've messed with the players head, mimicked things, in the corner of ur eyes or "poking" u from behind and then disappearing
I still think being stalked by Mr X is scarier than being stalked by lady Dimitrescu.
Yes they did an amazing job for Mr X, he had me on my toes the whole time in the RPD station.
She should have been the second to last boss. The most interesting of all the bosses
I agree she should've been also maybe have our playthrough in the Dimitrescu Castle longer
@@HeYDeVuH definitely! Loved the atmosphere of the castle.
I personally view alcina as overhyped. Yeah I get where everyone is coming from but I just don’t like her and personally like heisenberg much more
Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, the Countess of the Village. Of course she need more screentime!
I feel like capcom knew they made a mistake making her a side boss, but the time the game finished, they couldn't change the game lol
Capcom doesnt know their audience lol
Nah not really. They only used her for marketing because they didn't expect her to blow up despite only showing up for a few seconds in a trailer. I don't blame them this time.
It would have been amazing to fight Lady D in her normal form, but we have to continue to damage her with the assasin knife since guns don't work.
My one and only issue is that Alcina's style is from the 1930s not the Victorian Era, especially when paired with her cigarette holder. Not to mention Alcina was born around 1914 and was 44 when she was given the cadou
You're absolutely and I need to be corrected on those small details. Thank You for letting me know and I hope you still enjoyed the video.
I wouldn't have minded if most of the game happened in the castle. It was such a cool section
I’m gonna be honest I feel like people were over hyping her because they weren’t thinking with the right head
She SHOULD have had more screen time. I wouldn’t mind a prequel or some more backstory.
Yes agreed, and maybe we can see her in a prequel in the upcoming DLC
@@HeYDeVuH THAT WOULD BE DOPE.
I think there's another reference to Lady D's character. The claws she has reminds me a lot of Lust from FMA/FMA:B.
I think all of the lords were kinda rushed and shafted when it comes to gameplay. Which is such a shame because they're all really well thought out, and would have been the absolute highlight if they each had separate games dedicated to them; which honestly Resi8 should have been diced up into chapters of average game length, instead of being cramped into just one short game.
i actually agree with the comments! i was actually kinda disappointed when shes the first one to kill. she had so much potential
Yes I wish we could've explored the Dimitrescu Castle more
That line of "Flesh! Bones! I will devour all of you!" always gives me chills!
That would have been a good change in order
The most unusual thing here is how Ethan found the dagger when he was not even actively looking for it (read it in a file only, stumbled upon it by chance).
Lady D's 9ft behind, definitely had me feeling my 4'11ft self because when I came home from visiting my daughter's house after watching this game like a movie as she played, I was calling my hubby a "man-thing" threatening to "BREAK" him if he didn't remember my favorite body wash? He called our daughter and asked "U girls were playing that game again, huh?" LOL
I had a huge girl crush on her and it really pissed us off that we had to wait all that time being teased and enchanted by her, just so she can be killed off first and I loved being in that castle!!!
Hell from the advertising I thought she was the main antagonist of the game she got mad promotion
Imagine having her stalk you in the factory.
That would have been a great addition, I really hope that the DLC expands more into the 4 lords overall.
Thank You so much and yes I wish we could have seen more from her. I really do hope that they explore more about her background and lore in the DLC
Based on Miranda's report on Lady Dimestrescu, shows that she was actually very close to the vessel Miranda was looking for. We as the player killed the most powerful boss, first.
Yes I did like her but honestly I think she should have been the last master I don't know maybe I'm wrong
Hi nate!👍
@@soulreaver1983 hey what's going on my friend is nice to hear from you
@@soulreaver1983 are you serious your on this channel also 🤣😂🤣😂
@@soulreaver1983 do you play on Xbox
Maybe they could have made her into a final boss type Villain. Though I do hope in the DLC we get to see her again in a prequel kind of playthrough
That would have been a good split scenario
Playing this on PSVR2 so far has been an amazing experience. Just finished RE4 remake in vr and I just couldn’t get over the graphics and how amazing they were. Great video!
They should make a DLC where you play as one of the maidens and after you've made a mistake, they come after you. Maybe they can then chase you like how people wanted it to be like with Mr X.
I think that could be really cool and also give us some more of the castle.
That would be great
This is why not everyone can or should be a game designer lol
So weird this video popped up. No joke last night I had a dream about her no idea why. I was lost in the abandoned city, then I heard footsteps behind me. It was her! Seriously she pulled out her claws while walking over to me then said, "what? Are you mad because I killed you?" Then I woke up. I wasn't playing the game or anything the night before. So weird
Oh wow that was a pretty intense dream and what a coincidence, I hope you still enjoyed the video and hope no more crazy dreams like that
@@HeYDeVuH Loved the video. Thank you. I watched it the second I saw it
I keep losing the game because every time she chases me, I run towards her instead of away.
It’s love, goddammit.
I haven’t even played that game but she is best mommy from what I’ve seen
She must be in the dlc she has too!!
I really hope so as well.
I was hoping she was going to be a perfected Tyrant or the original Tyrant. Something Tyrant related lol
I thought so too.
I think the reason why she kept the thing that could killed her in her castle is so that she can keep watch of it, the only mistake she did tbh is that she kept several informations of its whereabouts in her castle or even the fact that she left several hints that it is in her castle
She wasn’t even terrifying…could just walk around her. What atmosphere she built up was tarnished by simplistic gameplay mechanics in her AI.
If they'd made her the villain and Donna the antagonist turned ally, it would have been insanely good.
8:37 If Miranda had managed to bring Eva back to life in Alcina's body Eva would have been like "Mother why am I so tall?"
(Hopefully DLC will sort that out!)
I do find the scene where she transforms a bit dumb in the way it's set up though - she grabs Ethan's hand with the knife so stop him using it, then stabs him with her nails, but then he somehow has his other hand free and stabs her with the knife? Also, why isn't he wounded at all after getting stabbed with her claws?
Also, I wish we could have parts of the story as actual cutscenes - like we get most of the game from Ethan's perspective, and then more traditional cutscenes near the end, but having separate scenes where we see the Lords and what they are up to would have been really cool to see!
Yes that would have been really good to have more Cutscenes without Ethan's perspective but I have a theory on that which I'll cover in a separate video.
@@HeYDeVuH Who that would be cool! I'll look forward to that video! :D
That would have been a great take if that happened
Why was her body so perfect lol
Capcom really made it look like Lady Dimitrescu was the main villain in 8 she was in all the trailers and marketing and was shown more but this wasn't the case Capcom do love tricking consumers.
Yeah it did seem that way
Personally, I like the transformation into the dragon.
From the trailers, she was seemingly the central villain of the game, but we learn that she was just the first boss. I feel she was underused.
Yeah I thought the same thing before the release of RE Village
