Matt: I'm going to tell you all about one of the most memorial things I've ever done, something I'll never forget. Fans: why'd you clickbait us, we thought it was road to the show.
What the heck bro I thought we where bro’s what did I do to u... I only struck out every time you where in scoring position and I only batted .057 ... like what the heck bro
Dude...you’re the man! Living out millions of young kids dreams. Thought I’d be a little jealous of someone like you but the way you tell your stories so humbly.......I’m so happy for you and I don’t even know you! Congrats on your career!
I really enjoy your stories and humility, you are teaching the kids really well on all levels. I am almost 50 now as I write this - the Padres had a look and talk with me in Canadastan here in the late 80's after I had a good game. I never knew it til later in life but 3-4 of the local legends much older than me here either scouted or played in their days, so that did not hurt. Keep up the good work Matt. Best wishes.
“But for that one minute, it was pretty awesome.” And how lucky you were to experience something most people dream of but never achieve. I’m sure the joy of your first big league hit (off Maddux) made all those long minor league bus rides worth it!
Matt - You played in the Major Leagues! Something that many of us could only dream of doing. Sure, it would have been great to play 15 seasons and end up in the Hall of Fame, but that doesn't happen to very many players. Congratulations for making it to the "show" no matter that it didn't last very long.
Matt, you are still a success. You have a wife and kids that love you. A nice house and using your skills to teach. Making a difference and having fun is what it's all about.
MATT- it's doesn't matter that you had a short time in MLB. DONT cut yourself short. Very few ball players can say they did that. You took a hit from one of the greatest pitchers in baseball. 👍🏻💥
Matt I met Shawn when I was a little kid he was a draft pick of the tigers, he played for our hometown team Fayetteville Generals. He signed one of his bats for me still have it.
Hey Matt, would love to see you do a video about your wife, then girlfriend, about life as a professional baseball player’s wife/girlfriend. If she doesn’t want to do the video, could you talk about what you know of what she went through? The difficulties with you being away, how she handled the long distance, being there for your highs and lows, any doubts she had about being able to do this, how she felt when your career ended, etc. I think for most of us on the outside, this is a forgotten aspect for a professional player, their family and loved ones and what they go through. Love the channel. Richie and Kyle rock!
Matt: Hey, what's up fellas, how ya doin'? This is all about how I made it to the majors in real life. RUclips: Crap, I thought this was about da video game.
Matt, I’m a really big fan of Indy Ball, specifically the Atlantic League. In a video can you go into if anyone from the independents tried to sign you and why you chose not to go that route?
Hi, Mr. Matt. Great channel! Could you talk about your relationship with teammates? What I find is interesting is that you and your teammates are working towards a goal, but you are also in someways competing against each other for playing time. How did you handle being both selfish and cooperative at the same time? Was there a different percentage of selfish/cooperative at diffrent levels? I understand that baseball has some very individualistic elements such as hitting, but you need to follow team orders. What are some things that selfish players do?
I know you’re done. Lots of young prospects blah blah blah. But IF a team called and invited you to spring training next year how long do you think it would take for you to be able to hit well after going so long without taking any live swings? I ask because a friend of mine was a pro golfer that nobody’s ever heard of. He quit and hasn’t swung the sticks in a decade. Decided to enter a charity tournament with us and it was spectacular. On the first tee he looked like he’d never swung a golf club before. By the turn he was going 300 right down the middle. Watching his body remember how to do it was a cool thing to watch.
Why do good players suddenly lose their ability to hit like that? It happened in Milwaukee to Travis Shaw this year. He went from a pretty good hitter, a 30 HR a year guy who went to being a .150 hitter overnight.
Matt , You should not feel bad about your achievements in the Major Leagues. Dude you were there you know (of course you know) how many kids try and don't or try and just are not good enough to make it past Babe Ruth/Senior Little League or only make it to legion ball. you should be proud of what you achieved. A lot of guys would kill for just 1 day in the life of Matt Antonelli.. BTW Matt is John Antonelli the former pitcher ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Antonelli ) any relation of yours?? Thanks.
Savor the flavor of the call-up and remember your first MLB game Matt. Nothing will ever replace that excitement as you reached the very thing you where working for your entire baseball life! It isn't about how long you where there (although you wish you could have stayed MUCH longer), the fact that you made it means you beat the odds that are stacked against you. You did something that only a very small minority ever get to do and you did it against a future HOF player!
Shawn Wooten might have the best job in baseball; hitting coach for the Angels. You just show up and have Trout, Pujols, Ohtani, Upton, and all those cats. That's just free money. Lol
Do you think you were called up too soon and was underprepared? Players nowadays usually aren’t called up until their 3-4th season in the minors unless they are killing it in AAA.
I would love to know the decision-making process to not brining you up in 2007. My guess is that they wanted to "keep your confidence" into the offseason, and not risk you struggling in September. I just think those conversations would be interesting to hear. You know you were probably a part of multiple trade-deadline deals where they never pulled the trigger, and there were times when they were close to calling you up for a series. You know that when you were raking, they were thinking about it.
Your story has me thinking.... How much do MLB teams pay (invest in) guys each year who never get the call-up or barely see any time there? It must be near a billion dollars a year or more.
Do you feel that the speed of which you went through the minor leagues contributed to your troubles in the majors and or contributed to the challenges that you had with hitting in the AAA level and forgetting how to swing?
Do you have any idea why they called you up during such a wacky season? It seems counterintuitive...like the year before (even though you were younger and less professionally experienced) would still have been more rational.
Be nice to Kyle he works for mlb the show he can make so u don’t make it to the mlb and him and Richie do...lol😂😂...tho Richie is so bad he will get sent down immediately
Not going to play? Get real. San Diego was not going to call you up to the majors just to have you sit on the bench, especially a high pick like you were.
Another great story! Something everyone that plays this game dreams of and you got to live it. By the way, you had some impressive hair in that thumbnail. Grow your hair out!
I thought when I clicked on this u got called up to the show in mlb the show
Me too lol
Me too, was looking forward to the confused phonecall to parents lol
Lol sameeee
Matt hit us with the clickbait title without probably realizing it lmao
Yes! I was disappointed
When Richie is a old man he will be able to tell his kids about how he played with the great hall of fame baseball player Matt Antonelli
Matt: I'm going to tell you all about one of the most memorial things I've ever done, something I'll never forget.

I really appreciate your honesty man. theres nothing like giving your absolute best and falling flat on your face. Love the channel.

Awesome story. We could tell the excitement you still feel about that whole experience. Good memories
Really love your stories and experiences Matt. Thanks for sharing them.
You're a great guy Antonelli, you're a good example of what a pro ballplayer should be like and you deserve to have made it.
Matt - You played in the Major Leagues! Something that many of us could only dream of doing. Two videos in one night and no road to the show, there goes my night.
Matt, you are still a success. You have a wife and kids that love you. A nice house and using your skills to teach. Making a difference and having fun is what it's all about.
So surreal to have insight to your stories. You've lived our dream. Awesome video
MATT- it's doesn't matter that you had a short time in MLB. DONT cut yourself short. Very few ball players can say they did that. You took a hit from one of the greatest pitchers in baseball. 👍🏻💥
Hey Matt keep doing these videos you rock! More major leaguers should do this
Matt I met Shawn when I was a little kid he was a draft pick of the tigers, he played for our hometown team Fayetteville Generals. He signed one of his bats for me still have it.

Man, I love these stories. In fact, I think I will steal them and tell them to my grandkids. Thanks Matt 👍
Haha that works! More coming soon!

Still looking forward to when u get called up... I want to see the weird phone call to ur parents
that must be the most amazing feeling in the world, getting to the Big Leagues, next to getting your first kiss 😂
Am I the only one disappointed that this wasn’t a MLB the Show call-up video?
Cool Story and congrats! What are some of your favorite baseball movies that were made?
Did you ever get the chance to meet Bob Uecker?
I know you’re done. Lots of young prospects blah blah blah. But IF a team called and invited you to spring training next year how long do you think it would take for you to be able to hit well after going so long without taking any live swings?

When you get called up in RTTS please don't put it in the title so we're all surprised!
I agree
I'm from Washington and it's pronounces Ray-neers. Love the vids
Richie is the broke mans Tim Tebow and Michael Jordan (for baseball)
Love your channel
You gotta do a video showing off the nerf mini hoop skills

Matt, do you think your fast rise through the minor leagues maybe hurt your
development (hitting wise) on the long run?
Wooten was a solid hitter.
Getting a hit off Maddux would be awesome
First at bat hit off of Greg Maddox. What an amazing feeling. Thanks for sharing Matt. (Richie would have homered)
Just curious how you broke your hand? I just broke my wrist and had surgery, now I'm recovering. Its been about 8 weeks since the operation.
Did you do a willie mays hays dance when you got called up in private haha
17th overall, Stud!
Would you consider a Major league coaching or Managing job if offered?
Yess! My favourite RUclipsr uploaded again!!!
If you look up 2008 Padres on Google, you are the first picture. Make sure you're on the all page instead of images page tho.
There is a entire sub redit about Matt a Richie not lying just look up Richie gives on google
.225 and called up? No wonder Kyle Saul is so confident!
Do you think you were called up too soon and was underprepared? Players nowadays usually aren’t called up until their 3-4th season in the minors unless they are killing it in AAA.
If you get called up hitting .220, you’re either a catcher or an NL pitcher.
Do you still root for Wake Forest in Basketball, football, or baseball?
Can you do another video when you get called up to the White Sox in Road to the Show?
I would love to know the decision-making process to not brining you up in 2007. My guess is that they wanted to "keep your confidence" into the offseason, and not risk you struggling in September. Whoever disliked must be a lacrosse player
Shoutout Tacoma best home I've ever had
Very kool matt.. very kool
Do you feel that the speed of which you went through the minor leagues contributed to your troubles in the majors and or contributed to the challenges that you had with hitting in the AAA level and forgetting how to swing?
The Show free on Playstation tomorrow lets fucking get it. The last one I played was 11 the show for ps3 lol.
Watching Anto play RTTS is one of the best things on RUclips
Do you have any idea why they called you up during such a wacky season? It seems counterintuitive...like the year before (even though you were younger and less professionally experienced) would still have been more rational.
when did you start to think about the possibility of going to the bigs
You should make 4:59 your thumbnail
Who else thougt he got his cup of coffee on the show 🤣🤣
Be nice to Kyle he works for mlb the show he can make so u don’t make it to the mlb and him and Richie do...lol😂😂...tho Richie is so bad he will get sent down immediately
I wish this was MLB the show
Are there any other past MLB players that are youtubers?
burt2481 is just love to hear other players experiences
Matt you should do a video on your favorite minor league cities that you lived in. Did you like Portland?
Thought you meant in Road to the Show....
Hey Matt, would you consider the season you “forgot how to hit” a case of the yips? Or was it just strictly mechanics in your mind?
Not going to play? Get real. San Diego was not going to call you up to the majors just to have you sit on the bench, especially a high pick like you were.
Hey matt if you can put the subtitles i appreciate a lot because i dont speak english and with subtitles i can understand better
José Fernández u know u can click the subtitles settings on RUclips so u can see the subtitles
I thought you got called up in the show and got disappointed. Now I’m wondering where my loyalties are- to you or your avatar.
“You’re in the lineup tonight you’re playing second base, and Greg Maddux is on the mound.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who else thought he was talking about Road To The Show
I was hoping you got called up in the show :(
Yeah
I need a road to the show episode tonight so we get your next major league call up!
It’s weird when people comment the same thing, after I posted, but they get all the likes.
52 ABs...... that’s 52 more than me. I love to hear your stories, my stories stopped at junior college
This guy likes to talk about himself a lot
160 sheesh matt you made Mendoza look like HOF that year
Matt we no longer care about your real life achievements and stories. We’re here for the saga of you vs. Richie.
Another great story! Something everyone that plays this game dreams of and you got to live it. By the way, you had some impressive hair in that thumbnail. Grow your hair out!
