As a Brazilian, and thus knowing this was a TV broadcast recording (Rede Globo) I can safely affirm that yes, they just dont know jack shit on mixing Rock/Heavy Metal sound. You can see to this day on recordings how often solo guitars dont get their instruments vol up when needed, thin bass sound, vocals almost always unnecessarily loud... You'll have to trust my word that thankfully(or not) that only extends to TV stuff, even tho this comment came 9 years late.

What happened was that they were told they had less time for their set than they'd expected, so they had Nick drum faster so they could still cram in as many songs from their prepared setlist as possible. I don't remember if they got them all in.
