Something that I think people should keep in mind after they see an accident is to NOT stop in the middle of the road, especially on a corner. Other cars might not have seen the accident and you're just putting yourself in danger.
14:43 My neighbour couldn't understand why the highway patrol cops were yelling at him so ferociously when one of his cattle pushed past his fence & got out on the road. After seeing this clip I can see why they were.
@@Nemean-se5k I guess that's why having a sufficient electrical current running through the fence to re-inforce the security of it, especially when it's the only barrier between them & the highway is so important. Also the livestock owner being responsible for any damages & injuries to vehicles involved in hitting his cattle would be pretty important in making sure that his cattle respect his fencing.
The majority of these intersection crashes are easily preventable. This is NOT victim blaming. Even if you have the right of way, that doesn't mean that you can let your guard down. Always have to be on alert and watch every car around you and cant trust/ assume that everyone else is paying attention.
Yes look both ways even when your light is green. Or even if you're turning on to a one-way road etc. Assume everyone is a complete bellend, because they probably are.

@@mrfordfairmont Yep, at first I thought the white car was being a bit pushy, but it is 2 to 1 lane there with zipper merge, he was slowed up by the turning truck a bit but was still well ahead of the silver SUV, and it immediately opened back up to 2 lanes again just past there anyway (oh, I reviewed and it is just a tiny 2 lane bit, possibly to allow right turners), silver SUV was trying to squeeze him out of anger and then trying to blame him also by the looks of it, I wanted to hear that conversation they had after. @@mrfordfairmont ahead, but behind a truck and doesn't matter as his car wasn't in the position to merge into the lane, the silver car was already up along side the white car. White car also made no intention of indicating their intentions, if they had not aggressively tried to run the silver car into oncoming traffic then they wouldn't have been ran off the road. It's a tiny lane to allow left turns into the driveway and the very rare right turn into the yard. Straight off the NSW road rules website Changing lanes When changing lanes, you must give way to vehicles in the lane you’re moving into. You must indicate to let others know when you plan to move into another lane. Make sure your indicator is off after you’ve merged or changed lanes. Both in the wrong at the end but it all kicks off cause White Ford cant just give way and indicate his merge.

@@m0rthaus Mine only does 10 seconds either side. Completely useless. But there is no need to press it because it has a good few hours of footage on there anyway.
The usual thing I find a lot. The motorcycle was using his gears to slow down and he gets hit from behind. People cannot see that a vehicle is slowing down without those red lights shining in their eyes. I have had so many close shaves when doing the same in my car. I have two streets I turn off main thoroughfares into my street and when I just let the car slow down without brakes people almost get me from behind. I tend know to just give the brakes a dab just to make sure they know I am turning off. When I can finally turn off, they are so impatient to get past me, I have had many close shaves with cars and utes almost taking the rear of my car. They want me to turn before the solid lane ends. If I do, i would end up either in a gutter a garden bed. Impatience is a big problem with lots of drivers.
I'll take a guess and say his response was replete with threats, expletives, and made him look like an even bigger imbecile than he'd already shown himself to be.
This is why I developed my driving "technique". I have one word for it: "Smooth". Head on a swivel, watching everything, not looking at the damn phone. Like a well-fed Shark swimming slowly through a school of Tuna. "Not today, not today". 😆
I can't figure out why a biker smashed into a turning truck 7 SECONDS after it started to turn? Is he blind or just stupid because that's plenty of time to stop no matter how fast he was going.
@@smgdfcmfah Yep, even if technically (I actually don't know) the truck should have given way, the rider should have seen the truck pulling across, and taken evasive action, even if just a matter of slowing down a bit. In this case, I hope the driver doesn't get into trouble. I'm sure the rider would have been speeding, and if not, would have missed the truck, and that is what the truckie was calculating (are they smart enough?)
Watching these it is obvious the majority of crashes have NOTHING to do with speed and EVERYTHING to do with inattention - unlike what the "authorities" tell us.
The best tips I've learned over the years: 1. Closure speeds: if the traffic around you is slow or stopped, slow down - anything that happens will likely be high-impact in this situation 2. Check left and right when entering intersections, leaving lights, or anywhere that has give way streets - physically check traffic to either side when entering of leaving an intersection. DO NOT TRUST that a red light will stop a vehicle!! 3. Watch wheels, not the car itself: as you're closing on a car that may be turning into your line of sight, it can appear stationary when it isn't. Watch the wheels, not the car! The wheels will clearly move and your eyes/brain will register it quickly.
Do not trust that an indicator is always actually an indicator either - apparently some people don’t have them, don’t know how to use them, don’t use them, or forget how to turn them on/off - self cancelling switches Don’t always work! And often “dickheaditis” is a real thing!
I think he clipped the parked car. That's the only possible explanation, I think. The sun was in his eyes, and he clipped the parked car. The last clip from the three is left-right reversed, BTW.
I had to watch it a couple of times. It's confusing because he had his dashcam mounted over on the right instead of having it properly centred, so the parked car looks further away than it is. His left side clipped the parked car, and he ramped right off it and rolled on his side.
That recovery at 4:21 shows impressive knowledge of the weight and center of balance for his vehicle. He let the car run straight twice after recovery, probably would have fishtailed and possibly rolled.
3:02 they were both flying by the looks of it, soon as he got out of the car yelling im assuming they know eachother or theres something dodgy going on
I get beeped alot, cause I don't immediately pulled ahead when light turns green. I'm always checking for cars who miss or don't see the red. This video is why.
PSA: if you have a green circle light but no arrows are lit up, the cars coming from the other direction also have a green light and will not stop. Wait for them. Do not follow another car who turned just because they made it. Why is this important rule not being tested before granting a licence.
Because most intersections will have a red arrow and those sort of intersections are fairly rare, but yes I agree they should at least be in the written test.
Because if you tested drivers for all the possible stupid things they could do the test would take a fortnight . The current rules are adequate. It's just that people don't follow them.
Everytime I was planning to ride longer distance these videos just suddenly showed up, I watched them all and decided to wait for another week for long travelling. Many thanks RUclips
Kinda glad you put the crashes into their own video series and all the weirdo and crazies in the main set (most dashcam compilations don't do that). Also validates how cautious I am when I don't trust my depth perception, which happens a fair bit.

It's a bit concerning that the driver needed directions in that situation in the first place.
The way that car took off reminded me of the grands prix of the fifties.
I got the impression he knew the driver was going to try for a free pass out of the car park and was waving to stop him.
@@jonnies No, the driver almost certainly mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals. This was uploaded on DCOA by itself a month or so ago, and the caption said the driver was 89 years old.
Something that I think people should keep in mind after they see an accident is to NOT stop in the middle of the road, especially on a corner. Other cars might not have seen the accident and you're just putting yourself in danger.

The majority of these intersection crashes are easily preventable. This is NOT victim blaming. Even if you have the right of way, that doesn't mean that you can let your guard down. When changing lanes, you must give way to vehicles in the lane you’re moving into.
You must indicate to let others know when you plan to move into another lane. Make sure your indicator is off after you’ve merged or changed lanes.
Both in the wrong at the end but it all kicks off cause White Ford cant just give way and indicate his merge.

@@smgdfcmfah Yep, even if technically (I actually don't know) the truck should have given way, the rider should have seen the truck pulling across, and taken evasive action, even if just a matter of slowing down a bit. Well that was particularly brutal.
Agreed. I've never winced as much during one of these videos 😬😖
13:06 Now when everyone complains you stop too far back from the car in front.. he can show this video 🤣🤣
The best tips I've learned over the years:
1. Closure speeds: if the traffic around you is slow or stopped, slow down - anything that happens will likely be high-impact in this situation
3:50 that low-loader will be pretty pissed that his paint got scratched.
18:00 - What instigates this last clip? At first I thought he clipped the parked car, but the more I rewatch it, the less I can comprehend it.

Pretty sure he hit the parked car. Should have gone to Specsavers.
I had to watch it a couple of times. It's confusing because he had his dashcam mounted over on the right instead of having it properly centred, so the parked car looks further away than it is. His left side clipped the parked car, and he ramped right off it and rolled on his side.

Because most intersections will have a red arrow and those sort of intersections are fairly rare, but yes I agree they should at least be in the written test.
