Girl in the cam car: are you ok?
Bike guy on the ground with 50 fractures in his leg: nup
Shit riding, but also shit driving from the oncoming car. A decent driver would have noticed and slammed on the brakes.
Cutting across that turn lane, on the blind hope that his grossly-overloaded bike could accelerate hard and that the other vehicles would decelerate hard out of sheer kindness, was not a good idea. Was that a washing machine or a fridge on the back?
Someone didn’t get their dinner delivered that night. 😝
I wonder if she was talking to someone in the car, but if the motorcyclist, then perhaps he was standing after adrenalin pumping... I had a high speed pushbike accident when I was a kid where someone opened their door on me and I went flying over the top and rolled down the road. I stood up and was swearing at them before collapsing. I was lucky to escape major injruy (no helmets back then).
@@davidvanderklauw yep, the car driver was still on the accelerator at the impact.
What I learned from this video: never assume i) the driver ahead of you won't slam on the brakes, ii) drivers to your left in a roundabout will yield, iii) your green light means anything to other drivers, iv) the road is clear when your vision is obstructed, v) dual white lines on blind corners mean the same to other drivers as to you, vi) bikers know what they're doing, and vii) anybody else takes driving safely seriously. 20:46 absolute legend ready with the fire extinguisher!
Yeah I was going to say so myself. Must have that fucker glued to his hands.
He was (kinda saved the day), although the whole thing puzzles me - it's EXTREMELY RARE for cars to catch fire as a result of a collision (said by an SA CFS volunteer of several decades, with more than a thousand incident responses under his belt). Only thing that would start to make sense is he'd "just filled up" - right to the cap - and the filler hose burst on impact, but even then igniting it is still a puzzle.
@@OhSoddit My first thought was that the wheel arch rim was pushed against the tire by the impact - the tire kept spinning on the metal, and the friction set some spilled fuel alight.
@@OhSodditunlikely but it still happens. I’ve seen it a couple of times first hand. Not fun.
Can't say for 100% but looks like a twin exhaust? (single sided on the left was most common for a commodore this age) so maybe a burst filler hose could have sprayed fuel onto the cat - those things get extraordinarily hot and I'm sure could easily ignite fuel without a spark
