The amount of avoidable accidents is astounding. Even some of those who weren't at fault could of easily avoided being invoved in an accident. A little bit of situational awareness and less ego goes along way.
Agreed, but there's nothing that mandates "defensive driving" or "situational awareness" is to be taught as part of getting a license. Currently you just get to sit next to someone with a "full" license for a dictated number of hours, learning all their bad habits. At a bare minimum there should be a need for professional, standardised training from an accredited professional. But this won't happen as the politicians required to make that law would lose too many votes from the "but my freedumbs and rights" mob not get elected. Much easier (and more profitable) to blame it all on "speed" and ignore all the other, more common causes than actually attempt to do anything about it. We've got to lose this idea that driving is a right, it's not, it's a privilege and needs to be seen that way. Motorcyclists in most states have to attend and pass set courses both before getting a learners permit, and a license. Handling, emergency procedures , awareness and defensive driving are all a part of the course, as well as restrictions to the type of bike you can get initially. But a young P plater in a car with no idea can drive a high power "sports" car in most states. I have to admit, returning to bikes and doing those courses made me a better road user in general. It showed me that over the years I had learned so many bad habits and got so lazy it scared me.

Tbh a lot of it isn’t that they didn’t see them, it’s the people in all the other videos who just force their way out at intersections and roundabouts assuming someone else will have to stop for them. Sooner or later the other person doesn’t stop in time.
This applies just as much to many of these dashcammers as it does the people technically at fault for the crash. In many of these clips the collisions were easily avoidable if the cammer was actually paying attention to their surroundings.
A disappointing lack of defensive driving in these clips. Many were avoidable. Aside from that, the main lesson in this video seems to be: When turning right without a green arrow, just because the person in front of you went, does NOT mean it's clear for you too!!
@@hugoburton5222 the amount of times people fuck up on the road, and I drive for a job, I always wait till they fully commit, same with people that leave their indicators stuck on.
The number of people sailing through clearly red lights is the biggest worry for me. Not just taking off from stop, at speed with zero awareness. Absolute liabilities on the road.
"Should we pull over? Nah just leave, leave" The accident driver clearly had some kind of problem, maybe even a medical episode. At the very least, stop and call emergency services. Pathetic behaviour honestly.
Yeah, I don't get it either. I was a first responder to an accident a few days back, some nurse had a go at me and told me to leave it for people who know what there doing. Was my 19th to respond to, so I had a fair idea of what and what not to do
I remember back when all the dashcam videos were Russian, because they were the only ones who used dashcam (because their insurance required it), and everyone was constantly talking about how they would just keep on driving after witnessing an accident, and that only shithole people from shithole countries would ever do that. Well, now we have hundreds of videos every day from Australia, Europe and not least America, showing the exact same behaviour happening everywhere.
Yeah for sure, seems like a medical episode or something. Dashcam might be what he needs to establish plausibility with the insurance mob or whoever else. What's the passenger afraid of?

There's so many people who are technically in the right but could have easily avoided the crash but just don't seem to have any situational awareness at all.
They are in the right so they stop people from merging / crash / pit other drivers . The important thing is that they are in the right. Avoiding accidents is so 90's Unfortunately I am still old school. I avoided a rear end accident recently. I was stopping for a orange turning red light (orange is start of the red cycle). I realized the driver behind was not going to stop (coming up very fast) so I drove forwards into the intersection a bit as he swerved to miss my now stationary vehicle as he /she/it blew straight through the red light. If I hadn't been paying attention, it would have been a good slam up the rear at about 50 + KPH. I had given him/her/it just enough space to swerve around (moved forwards about 1.5 - 2 metres). Of course there were no pedestrians at the time (something I considered) but pedestrians were there 10 seconds later.
Everytime I think about how much my comprehensive insurance costs every year, these vids remind me that it's because of the "Road Zombies" that drive among us.
Exactly what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure I can avoid causing an accident but a lot of these would be impossible to avoid if someone else caused it. A thousand bucks a year seems like a good investment
@@diracflux and I've been paying car insurance since 1967, and never had an "at fault" claim, so it double hurts to have to pay increases every year. But because of the "Zombies" you must, there's no choice.

How can you tell? In most of those clips you don’t see for long enough to know what they did, and often it’s not safe to stop on the road so finding a safe place to stop safely comes first.
Out of all these accidents, only 3 can be attributed to excessive speed. The rest are all caused by inattention, failing to give way, or running red lights. All easily avoidable if people just followed the fucking road rules. Yet most of the money has been invested in speed cameras rather than getting police in patrol cars ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so I guess there is no such thing as a red light camera! Fact is for the cost of one patrol car and staff to use it you can monitor 4 spots with cameras. Each year it becomes even cheaper as cameras have small maintenance fees while staff wages go on. Unless you are willing to pay income tax of around 75% then we simply can not afford emergency services, health and education spending people want.
Alternatively... maybe the reason there were only 3 excessive speed accidents was because so much money has been spent on speed cameras, reducing the number of speeding related accidents? That said, there definitely needs to be more police in patrol cars on our roads.
@@-paulmp Yeah I would believe that shit, if I was hit in the head repeatedly by a brick. The whole speed kills campaign is a load of bogus numbers. True for all except the driver with the medical episode.
They are in the right so they stop people from merging / crash / pit other drivers . The important thing is that they are in the right. Avoiding accidents is so 90's
Unfortunately I am still old school.
Well if they did then they would be in these clips.

@@AnotherDoug those laws dont guaranty immunity. you can still be sued. Cali courts have ruled so narrowly that it only applies to medical care givers.
8:28, dead-set scum bag passenger. Karma’s gonna get you!
11:23 actually glad to see one of those truckies getting into (relatively safe) shit for pulling stunts like these. Almost every week you see them sailing through without a care in the word for other cars, and no consequences.
I had a crash like that once. The trucker guy (towtruck) admitted he saw me driving on the exit lane and said words to the effect of he was aware but kept coming to the right anyway because he expected me to go onto the hard shoulder since he wanted to merge in.
Since then I add "Master of diplomacy and remaining calm" to my CV, because hearing it was a deliberate crash I did not put him in the ground right then and there.
And just to encourage that kind of bellend behaviour, police refused to take a case of criminal damage over it, even though he confessed on video, and even demanded I delete the footage because publishing it would be 'slander' (which from a legal standpoint is hilarious BS, but I didn't know that back then)
Best channel for drivers' anxiety 😅
18:50 impatient... causes 4-5 car crash, Jesus Christ!
Insurance must hate him LOL
@@StormHawksHD you really believe they were likely insured?
@@Nathanation88 Buy the looks of it he tried to bail but hit the other car on the bridge stopping him
15:22 nice karma for trying to bullying his way in
Well that was a stressful trip down what the hell lane
17:17 Oh my god, that was super brutal
I don't know why but I love watching these videos.
damn, the sheer amount of people that don't understand the front end of the truck is a blind spot, amazing.
At least 90% of these could have been easily avoided if people just learnt how to FVCKING DRIVE!!!
100% of these were avoidable
@@immrmessy Actually, you're correct. I was just trying to be a bit conservative, but no, you are absolutely correct. There's no such thing as an "accident". It can always be traced back to human failure. Even if it's a mechanical or electrical fault. The only kind of incident that may be termed a real accident, is possibly due to a medical episode, such as heart attack or stroke, a seizure or something like that. But every single clip on this video didn't have to happen, from inattentive driving, slow reaction times, or just plain poor driving skills.
It amazes me how many people think they're the only ones on the road and anyone else who does happen to be there will magically get out of their way.
Love the contrast in music between the clip at 7:43 and the following clip!
Dash cameras aus delivering some good crashes in this compilation
Good add for Top Deck Scaffolding.
1:08... How many times does a motorcyclist, try skipping to the front of the line for this to happen???
yeah filtering traffic is the safest thing for motorcyclists. This guy is a great demonstration of what not to do
until the road policing units are seen to be on the road more, it will only get worse . the police need to get out and catch these people instead of just using speed cameras.
Speed cameras save lives by sending you a $177 fine for doing 2 KPH over the limit. This is important.
Raising revenue is the only way to save lives.. I mean it fails to work year on year but it's more financially viable to think it works
@@roadmonitoroz 2 weeks after don't forget.
Raising revenues increases budget therefore can afford more policeman on the road.
Yes.
Increase mobile camera units and deepen the pockets of those involved. The death rate on the roads as basically risen every year, fining people more and more hasn't work from the beginning.
shoutout to my boy sam made the cut @ 18:11

You were asking to crash there. I would almost say, that was deliberate. No attempt to avoid by going on the shoulder, no attempt to slow down.
Yes, that's it - you've got it. The DC driver deliberately enticed the other vehicle to illegally change lanes!
