After watching this video two years ago I fell in love with his music. Yesterday I could finally see him playing live in Deventer (Netherlands). It has been the best show I have ever been in my life. I’m 28 years old. It was not because of the instrumental parts, nor their vocal lines, or skills, but because they are able to transmit pureness and emotion in such a way that paralyzes you, it’s almost a mystical experience. In addition to this they are very very humble on stage. If any of you from the band ever read this thanks a lot for continuing writing this music and showing it to the world. It’s not an easy life, but you are making ours very easy with your sound. Cheers
bro haha are you trippin? Is no editing at all 😅 I’ve seen this band live in Karlstad on a small theater with a crowd on 100 people. It’s not many bands that has the composition and “tightness” as these guys have.
When I'm coming home, my mind starts to roam I go to bed while picking up speed The surface may say I'm doing okay That I got what a man might need I got my degree, a brand new TV The parts where I live ain't too bad But I can't recall, none of it all In any dreams I've had --- The sky is big and white and I'm locked inside Working all day with a frown I guess I'm just a coward who would need to get fired And banished from this town --- Beautiful storytelling and writing in the verses of Putting My Tomorrows Behind. The lyrics do capture the dread and struggle of working; being forced to an office every day of the week to make ends meet. For what? Materialistic needs? To get a brand new TV and "ok" apartment? All the while - the sky is blue and the forest is waiting outside. The inner child in us never dreamt of this dystopic adult life. "Although things aren't too bad, and I have a lot to be thankful for, something is missing in this life".
I first heard Daniel's music when I was doing exactly the opposite of that, when I was travelling for months on end, free and unburdened by sorrow or doubts. That's long past now, and as is always the case, I didn't know what I had, not completely. Now I'm getting stuck in that weird system of having to work your life away to prove you're worthy of...living? Not starving? Not being homeless? Being where most of us are really makes this song hurt all the more. Knowing how he's singing about how you were and how you are now is like a gut punch.
Finally! He was like a hidden Swedish gem in the beginning. But slowly he’s been reaching out to a bigger audience! He has been making music since 2007, check him out! He is one of the best from sweden, period.
npr sound mixers are great talents (Josh Rogosin, Patrick Boyd)!! It really shows when you take in the many different genres and balances of sound they work with through this show.
I want "Everything You Know" played at my funeral! Such a jubilant, sad song! Absolutely beautiful, amazing song and set! Thank you so much for sharing this guys! All my best to you and yours.
I don’t mean to jump the gun and get all crazy, but I’ve been listening to a lot of his stuff recently and am starting to think he might just be my new favorite artist. Not just him but his band. What’s not to like? They check all the right boxes for me. Just plain brilliant.
If you ever get the chance to see these fellows live, go. Go, go, go! They're worth every penny and more. Vibrant, beautiful, simply stunning. Top three of the 100+ concerts I've been to. Thanks Daniel and Daniel look-a-likes.
As a swede I couldn't be more proud of this guy. Cannot understand how he's not more well known yet. Truly hope that this appearance on NPR will get him some more recognition.
It's a weird thing. I discovered The Tallest Man on Earth through Tiny Desk, over 10 years ago. Went to a concert in Utrecht, where Daniel Norgren was the support act. I was blown away. Listened to all his records hundreds of times, including the amazing Kerosene Dreams that weirdly seems to have vanished from the face of the earth. Went to more than 10 of his concerts all over Europe. Spoken to him a couple of times after those shows. And still, I hadn't seen this video until today.
same here - when i discovered him, i sat there the whole evening, listening to song after song, and more than once the water filled my eyes, incredible experience! can´t remember when i had that before....... best wishes from germany
After I saw this tiny concert, I found out about a concert a few weeks later in my former hometown, Groningen. I got tickets and: wow, from the beginning till the end, I was amazed. People from all ages, young people and elderly, we're listening and looking. One of the best concerts I've ever experienced.
tiny desk! i love you so much, can’t say it enough. never heard of these guys, such a beautiful sound. makes me feel like i’m traveling places i’ve never been, but feel completely at home. i appreciate all of you 🤗 love, respect, and hugs from my corner of the galaxy 🙏❤️🤗
Who ever put a thumbs down to this doesn’t feel music !! The hairs in the back of your neck !!! The feeling inside your soul !! Seen him twice , most connected ive ever felt at a gig
What is so cool about Daniel and his band is, that every time I see a new clip or go to a concert there is always a new version, or interpretation of the songs. Totally different vibes, always incredible.
Thanks, Tiny Desk! I heard this concert and immediately Googled this guy to see his concert schedule. His US tour was over but I happened to notice that he was going to be performing in The Netherlands a few months later when I was there. Friends and I were in Amsterdam but we took the train to Utrecht and saw his fantastic show! It was THE best night of that trip.
That's quite lucky! I'm from Sweden and I hope he will come home to play sometime too.. I just missed him not very far away from here unfortunately though.
Love Daniel’s music, so pleasantly suprised to see him on Tiny Desk! If you haven’t listened to him before I highly recommend all of his records although ”Alabursy” is my personal favourite. ”Why may I not go out and climb the trees?” and ”Lonely girl” are the best songs I have heard in a long time.
yay! i didn´t expect anyone else to love exactly these particular songs most like i do - i might add "my rock is crumbling", because this is happening with several persons around me - too many have already crumbled away and some i miss dearly - one of them is my mother and i´m very sure she would also have loved this guy for his wonderful songs... love and greetings from germany
Great session, and subperbly recorded by the engineers at NPR. This is the best version of Moonshine I've heard, slowed down with a trippy groove. I saw Daniel play solo in Valencia a couple of months ago with just a piano and he put on a stellar performance in front of a tiny crowd. He deserves to be huge.
Been listening to Daniel for over a decade and finally got to see him live a few months ago and I’m glad to say he was well worth the wait! I’m so glad he’s getting some recognition as the fantastic songwriter he is!
simply WOW! soo happy for the band to have been invited to tiny desk concert! this was otherworldly..fully immersed with dream sounds and so much inspiration. epic band, iam so happy i have found them
Finally! Thanks NPR :) Norgren is not only a great musician, but also one of the nicest I was fortunate enough to talk to after a concert. Great person, and in a certain mood, his songs are the only ones that seem to fit
New favourite artist right here. Right up there with Khruangbin, Hermanos Gutierrez, La Lom, the Blck Keys doin blues, you know, really good stuff!Blessed music. Oooh wee, these boys got that soul!!
"Everything You Know Melts Away Like Snow" is both beautiful and haunting. It's been in my head for about a week straight since I first heard it here. And that's something that only awesome music can do.
Its like Joe Cocker and a song bird had a baby.. band is fukn tight AF too! soo much soul... these guys are the real deal. Rock and roll will never die.
Daniel is a genius. This is just a small piece of all his work so its just for you to put his music on in your earphones, go for a nice walk in our beautiful nature, and enjoy :)
@tiny desk : Thank you so much for what you're doing. You bring joy and beauty in our lives along with all those great musicians you present. Thank you!

Crazy how one guy can be so multi talented. I love the editing to make it look like a full band
Also, CGI is very realistic, just look at how they made him appear younger/older - flawless!
