You have to think. Discord is the first to screw over an opponent even when he lost. He trapped bill in his old 2d world because he sacrificed himself to save everyone. Bill is ego after all, well played discord
Bayonetta came close, but she wasn't doing it deliberately. The only reason Dante crossed her path is because he needed her - alive - and didn't realize either of these details until he'd accidentally implied he was there to kill her. He's going to figure it out eventually and presumably work out how to bring her back. I like that example because it suits both the franchise narratives: Bayonette acts on impulse due to enormous amounts of long plans and destiny ensuring her immediate impulses should be okay to follow, while Dante acts on impulse and often enough screws up majorly as a result but goes on to fix his mistakes. And Discord will probably get back eventually. It's good to have friends on top of being hard to get rid of.
The fact that Discord writes his letter explaining what happened to his friends at the beginning of the fight, which we see at the end of the battle, implies that he himself wasn't sure if he could actually beat Bill. But that didn't matter. Killing Bill was secondary, so long as he could distract him long enough to get him out of their dimension and back into the Nightmare Realm, he had alredy won in his own way. Its a great way to have both characters "win" without making either seem weak or stupid. Bill killed Discord, sure, but Discord got the last laugh. Overall, this is arguibly the best Death Battle *ever*
Him sacrificing himself for others is the most Discord thing to do. The series finale had him fight three super charged villains with rocks because he lost his powers just to help his friends gain some time to gain a win
Well Discord is the physical embodiment of the concept of chaos, so he can be reborn over time. It makes sense that he would rather go through death temporarily rather than let Cipher loose on the world.

Fun fact: this battle was community chosen. Thus, some weird bits are inside jokes in the community, like Tai Lung being in the background and the people flying out of the portal in the fight. The Bill Cypher full names are even scrambled names of people in their discord.

Keep in mind, Discord kept Bill at a stalemate, and possibly could have done so indefinitely despite making it all up on the fly, AND being distracted with an ulterior goal. The fight itself was a secondary concern of his at best, because while the fight was ongoing, he used it as a distraction to construct an illusion of multiple layers across multiple dimensions, to not only maneuver Cypher back into the rift without him noticing and seal him there, but completely reconstruct, from scratch the entire MLP multiverse from the damage of Cypher's wierdmageddon, which of course includes untold countless numbers of resurrections. That was always Discord's goal from the beginning, as evidenced by the note he wrote before even starting the fight that Fluttershy found just as the rift sealed. Cypher was fighting semi-seriously; Discord was fucking around to keep his attention, and making it up as he went along while his full attention was focused on being a literal creator deity beyond Cypher's gaze. Lose the battle, win the war.
Yeah, you can actually see where they get pulled back into the nightmare dimension after the puppet fighting madness bubble, if you look during one of the next sequences, the rift's colour has changed. Because Discord can just come back with time, his only worry is that he wouldn't reform in time to continue the fight, so he trapped Bill for a few more million millennia, giving him time to reform.

You gotta admit, the voice work they did for this fight was amazing. Both competitors had voices that were well on point. Especially Bill. Also the fun part of the breakdown is that you can see them writing in the background, purple for discord and of course yellow for Bill.
I still liked the general fact this is arguably the few times where the winner gets screwed over as well. Because this is definitely one of those situations of, "I may have lost, but I still get the last laugh."

When Discord “dies” his Chaosreleam is still active and will regenerate Discord back to life but it takes a very very long time. Or he might left a copy of himself in the Chaosreleam.

It is unclear, but each copy seems to have their own sentience, since in one episode he says he needs an extra pair of eyes for preparing his home for a tea party, he summons a sort of "reasonable" friend version of himself to help him out. Not only that, multiverse also exists for Equestria, so there's no reason a new Discord with an identical background to the one that died can't simply pick up where he left off for Fluttershy

Bill isn’t trapped forever, he’ll be there for potentially billions of years, but he can still make a deal to escape, but ultimately speaking, Discord somewhat wins in this instance of coming back.

I feel like even from the beginning of the battle, Discord probably knew he was a dead man walking, so instead of going for the kill. he spent the time taking bill for a joy ride and reseting equestria at the same time that's why he left them a note. And Bill has a tendency to get fixated on a task, so while he can see the future, he's not gonna use it more than to figure out how to kill the pest in front of him
I mean, Discord can't die either. So its only a temporary death. The moment there's some small chaos (like children arguing near him), he will just respawn. While Bill is trapped unless he finds someone to trick again. Hence why Bill won the fight, but Discord won the war.
Discord could've used that time to go back in time and depower Bill by stopping the deal that made WA happen in the first place. Or set up the ritual that would've destroyed Bill.
I love the ending where Discord saves his friends by trapping Bill. Bill won the Death Battle, but Discord won the real battle. Such a nice way to end things, which I hope they do a little more often. Have the looser be the winner in a sense.

I LOVE the voice acting in this they don't just sound like them but...SOUND like them ya know? They got the personality and the mannerisms too even having a kiddy charater like discord say "die" feels so in characters.
This was the best battle win of them all. Both sides won in their own way, but one side still won the death battle. It shows proper respect to both sides in a great way and makes both sides of the fandom happy. If they keep this up they'll def redeem themselves over the mid seasons for sure.

Unfortunately Discord wasn't able to wield the power of friendship in the fight since it was a 1v1, but that power will ensure he comes back to life later. My Little Pony was always about friendship. Even when there were... Dragonball-esque fight scenes. Yeah, that happened. It only makes sense they'd befriend the unfriendable (is that a word?) and he'd just go along with it
I remember with the Tirek arc upped MLP's age rating. It was too violent to let that season be considered for little kids. Then in the comics where the Changelings landed in a village of adorable creatures after their first loss, Chrysalis looked around, smiled and it's implied that friendly adorable villagers are no longer among the living.
This is about as close to a tie as it gets. Discord died, but he saved his world from Bill. Bill killed Discord, but was sealed back into the nightmare realm. Overall, I say Discord wins. He went into that fight knowing he might lose, so he made his main goal sealing Bill away, while taking every opportunity to kill him if possible.

I agree. This is one of my favorite death battles. They took a pair of reality warpers and reached a conclusion that, almost paradoxically, makes perfect sense. (I'm also just a brony sap that loves how Discord preserved his friends' dimension at the cost of his life)
Can Bill destroy spirits? Because that's the biggest sticking point in this Death Battle. The only explanation they have is the "death" of Xyler and Craz, two characters that only exist because they're in a dreamscape. They are certainly *not* spirits, as they are only figments of Mabel's imagination. Beyond that, Bill has only once proven to be stronger than someone else in their own minds, and that's Blendin- and we have *no idea* why that is. He lost to Soos, Dipper, and Mabel once they learned they can use their imagination to boot Bill from Stan's mind, and Bill is unable to stop Stan even as both of their minds were being erased. The only thing he's seen doing with spirits is when he pulls Dipper's from his body, and it's heavily implied that the only reason he can do it is because Dipper unwittingly phrased a deal with Bill that made Dipper into a puppet for him. Despite it being one of the best Death Battles, Discord should probably have been the one to win. There's no real explanation as to how Bill was able to remove Discord from his mind and seal him in place. I appreciate that despite everything, they kept both characters consistent with their canonical counterparts and they didn't just have Discord go without a fight.
Besides there no a easy way Bill reach Discord's Spirit, the guy tanked a deathly laser bream from King Sombra, you need more that a big chess piece to obliterate Discord body, and in the example provided his body wasnt destroy, was exiled from the school, that is whyt he came back in Spirit form, to troll, impliying Discord body being out of the School and the Spirit inside, is very obvious that he can be in 2 places at the same time, if is not exiled nothing stop Discord from regenerating his Physical form, Spirit Discord is same Strong that Normal Discord and has no relation to destroying him as concept, they calimed that Discord couldnt regenerate his spirit, maybe because no one hurt him in that state and the only reason he doesnt regenerate anything was beccause his body was exiled. Bill needed to extract Discord Spirit directly and there no guarantee that destroying it would change anything.

To be fair, there were some theories once that King from the Owl House is a reincarnation of Bill. He's got the same voice, he's 8 years old in a show that takes place 8 years after Gravity Falls within the same multiverse, he's in the body of a creature that (with enough time) will receive godlike powers, and King's also a bit of a chaotic gremlin himself.

Tbh Bill is neither more chaotic or would be giddy about this fight. Bill has one of the most easily annoyed egos I've ever seen. He's constantly losing his mind and having tantrums like a godlike child, DB was pretty spot on in terms of his character

This episode has to be by far the most EPIC death battle of them all, even though its not a draw, it was beautifully written for how it would’ve gone and it was executed perfectly
While I enjoy the Death Battle and even probably one of my favorites for this whole season of absolute bangers, from what I have been informed of by others, they actually really undersold/misinterpreted Discord and he'd likely be able to get a very easy victory. I mean simply put, Discord has not only disappeared but reappeared by two people simply bickering and he'd likely be just as if not even more empowered by Weirdmaggedon than Bill due to the sheer amount of unbridled chaos he causes. It's like a fire god going against the primordial embodiment of fire whose empowered by even the faintest spark of heat. However I really enjoy the story in the fight and the how in character it is for both of them, plus the comedy is on point. The fourth wall breaks were cool, I enjoyed it since they did it in a manner distinct from their age old annoyance Deadpool. Part of me wants to see Nux watch the Deadpool battles now though
If you're saying this based on the opinions of others on a death battle episode, you'd best take them all with a pound of salt. Death Battles are so easy to argue about by people who are so prone to bias that there's rarely a point to arguing about who should have been the winner.

Usually it's like "I'll probably enjoy both characters about the same amount and watch them show off their repertoire." So I can't complain since at least it works. There have been some cases I wanted one to win over the other and got disappointed but I can usually enjoy it regardless.
I knew it would end like that. One thing they didn't mention in the differences between Discord and Bill is that Discord does have empathy and love in his heart, for Fluttershy if no one else. It makes sense that, if she were in mortal danger and the fate of the world was at stake, he would sacrifice his life for saving a world that she could live peacefully in.

While I agree Bill would win the battle, I think they intentionally misinterpreted things about Discord. We know he can vanish if he himself stops being chaotic, but that doean't mean others can destroy his spirit. They also assumed he comes back as a spirit if his body is "destroyed", and used the Starlight episode as evidence...but at the end of the episode he (or the writer) confirmed he did the whole ghost thing on purpose for fun. His body wasn't actually deatroyed, he was pretending.
The thing is, even though they are fighting here, I think they'd actually be pretty good friends if they weren't. Just two chatotic creatures causing chaos in universes together.

This fight is a no contest. In Discords favor. Think about it. Both of them effectively have perfect knowledge about the other and godlike abilities within a reality, but Discord has free and easy access both for himself and others to cross dimensions where Bill is confined to them. Snap, they're in a pocket dimension. Snap, the dimension no longer exists and Bill is deleted from reality.
But bill has also created pocket dimensions. It's not definitive that Discord would be able to do that with Bill inside and if that would even defeat Bill

The fun part is that even if Bill escapes the dimension, it'll take millions or even BILLIONS of years for him to do so. And since Discord cares for Fluttershy above all else, he at least ensured that his one true friend and their friends are safe til they die of old age. And odds are given Discord also likely told them what happened and who Bill is in the letter, that gives horse world millions/billions of years to prepare for the triangle by the time he returns. In other words, while Bill technically won the DB because of the rules of the thing, Discord all but ensured total victory by the end in every way he cares about. Plus if/when he reforms with enough chaos, even this "death" won't matter. So Discord gets the laugh last no matter what in the end.
Death Battle actually got several things about both Discord and Bill and their powers wrong. Truthfully, Discord should have had this battle in the bag. Bill's reality warping powers aren't on par with Discord's, and he faces far more restrictions and limits on his powers than Discord does, who can do several things that Bill either can't or require additional outside power sources to match. Even the way they had Bill defeat Discord was circumstantials, as Discord didn't to revert to a ghost form (he never died), they just made him do it just because. BTW, I'm saying this as someone who likes Bill a LOT more than Discord.
Plus unicorn hair can apparently stop Bill Cypher is a small way similar to forcefields made by the ponies. I'm sure discord has a fuck ton of them lol.

Another episode you should check out is Cole Macgrath vs Alex Mercer. It’s an underrated episode that has a lot of love put into it for both series. I never even played either franchises and I still ended up loving it.

Is not even close, for Bill, they had to invent a weakness for Discord, we are prettending that destroying Discord "Spirit" is the same that destroying his "soul" or even destroying him as a concept, the example they provide didnt even work like that, Discord body was exiled from the school, not destroyed, that is why he came back as a Ghost, implying that his body is over there in some part of Equestria, meaning that Discord Ghost and body can be is 2 parts at the same time, which is not that crazy because Discord showed already having multiple bodies at the same time. And in a top of that we are prettending that Bill have Soul regeneretion when the set up was in a dream, so, Dipper have soul regeneration too? He regenerated too in that example, Why we are implying that is soul manipulation instead of dream manipulation? The only beigns Bill destroyed inside Stan Mind was fictional characters from Mabel dreams, not real people. Prettinding Bill having Soul Manipulation and regeneration is very obvious right? But pretending Discord could regenerate his spirit is too crazy? He could just regenerate his physical form whenever he want, in the MLP episode he doesn't because his body was exiled from the shcool. The real Discord Weakness are power stealing abilites, the elements of harmony, and exile powers (Which should be strong enought to exile more that just his physical form), I don't see Bill with access to any of that. The more boring one would be forcing Discord be normal, which is the more effective one agaisnt Discord, but doesnt work in this set up, because weirdmageddon would prevent Discord from disappearing. Another dumb thing they compare the capabilities of the Unicorn Hair with the Grogar Bewitching Bell, which obviously are not at the same level, we are comparing a Shield which passive feat is stealing powers from a cursed totem, not even a monster or Bill Minion, with Grogar Bell which has the feat of stealing powers of beigns at the level of Discord and the princesses, the Bell was the only Bill wincon, because he could stole it from Discord and using agaisnt him. We could claim that Bill can resist power stealing from Grogar Bewithcing Bell if you wish, but there is not information of Bill having that resistance at that level. Discord in the other side, could Teleport Bill to somewhere else, like in the fight, or hitting Bill with a move of the same level of the Quantum destabilizer, which is claiming strong enough to defeating Bill, Discord could forced Bill inside of the mind of one of his clones and destroying himself. Bill weaknesses are very clear and in more disposition to Discord exploit it.

No need to read or explain all that. Two simple things you need to know 1. The bewitching Bell works in ANY magical being no matter what. If it worked on discord it will work on bill 2. Bill can't harm a soul. The episode they were using was in the dream realm where everyone had a mental projection. If they were soul then Dipper would be dead
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS WHOLE TIME. They even dug through the trash just to say that Bill can eliminate souls and regenerate his own, even though the guy doesn't even have Conceptual Manipulation to affect Discord. Also, they compared the Empowerment of both and said that they cancel each other out. It doesn't make sense, Bill's Empowerment isn't even close to Discord's, Bill was gaining power for many days since Weirdmageddon had started and yet he was still hurt by physical objects and received a beating from Shacktron. While Discord with just a little chaos freed himself from the prison of the Elements of Harmony, and even, at the time where he was imprisoned, he could cause enough chaos to the point that he became unstoppable even when he was turned into stone. Even if they were right and their Empowerment has the same power, their logic still fails, because Discord would be being empowered by his own chaos and the chaos of Bill's Weirdmageddon, gaining MUCH MORE power, and if all that fails, he only has to go to Chaosville and replenish his energy to continue the battle. And well, I won't mention the fact that they were belittling Discord's abilities, to the point where they said Discord's Plot Manipulation wouldn't work against Bill, or that Discord couldn't just manipulate Bill's mind. They even said that Bill with his Precognition could anticipate Discord, even though Discord is immune to precognition since his power does not follow the laws of cause and effect and they do not follow any logic. They were also exaggerating Bill's "omniscience" and knowledge, being that in the series he was shown to have very stupid attitudes and decisions, and Discord also has omniscience and precognition due to all the control he has over space-time and has access to damn plot. I loved this episode of Death Battle, but they didn't research Discord's power very well, otherwise they would know that he has a clone of himself in his own dimension, so if Discord dies, he simply has to pass his consciousness to the clone. In that case, the real winner of the Death Battle should have been Discord by BFRing Bill to the Nightmare Realm and having a spare Discord in Chaosville.
And comparing the Unicorn Hair Shield with the Bewitching Bell was really silly since the Unicorn Hair only reverses the effects of Weirdmageddon's rarity and is not a real power nullifier, while the Bewitching Bell is an object that It serves to absorb the magic and power of others like Discord and the Princesses, and Discord, Celestia and Luna have previously shown feats of resistance to the nullification, so the Bewitching Bell like other artifacts of Equestria can ignore this resistance. The only thing the unicorn hair did was neutralize a random totem

Everything in this battle should have made him stronger, them ending in the Nightmare dimension should have made Discord a fucking invincible God, and in the end Bill's powers should have, at every turn, done nothing but fuel Discord. Discord gets stronger from Chaos. Bill only gets stronger from Weirdmaggedon, WHICH ENDS AS SOON AS THEY ENTER THE NIGHTMARE DIMENSION. They did Discord dirty. Shit when you factor in the comics, WHICH THEY SUPPOSEDLY DO, Discord can defeat beings on his own level with chaos-based powers LIKE IT'S NOTHING. This match-up was a one-sided STOMP, but they gave that stomp to the wrong person. I mean shit, look at their feats. Bill needed help breaking through dimensional barriers. Discord does that for kicks. There is a vast difference in power between them just based on that. Bill should not have been able to even SCRATCH Discord. They gave his powers a boost. His regeneration is not accurate. It takes a while for him to regenerate his eye, he says so himself. And the fucking unicorn hair barrier??? What, because it doesn't work on Bill but works on an inaminate object he beought to life, this means the Bewitching Bell wouldn't work on Bill??? How does that make any sense??? The Bewitching Bell can work on Discord, a being capable of everything Bill is AND MORE, the idea it wouldn't work on Bill is LUDICROUS. We also have no proof Discord's spirit can't regenerate. The example they use of that is him denying his nature, literally him erasing himself, not being erased by someone else. And it's not his spirit that was fading, it was HIM. We've never even seen Discord in spiritt form take damage. How can they claim Discord can't regenerate in spirit form when nothing has ever harmed him in that form???

Best part of this deathbattle is this battle is one that even with this result, you can argue with both winning still. It came down to personality. And even then, you could argue both parts going for the kill.
I think Discord would definitely win because of 3 important factors 1. Discord can freely travel dimensions while Bill couldn't leave the nightmare realm. 2. Bills powers can be nullified (the memory gun taking away his powers, look at his defeat in GF for reference) 3. Once Bill is back in the nightmare realm, he loses his physical form. So in my own analysis, Discord can kick Bill to the nightmare realm, use the bewitching bell to nullify his powers and destroy his spirit in one go like the memory gun did, spirit regeneration means nothing if you are destroyed completely. And Bill can predict the future but has never used it in a meaningful way during weirdmagedon, only to mess with people because he mostly predicts the future with his vast knowledge he has
The problem though, is that a Bill *without the bubble of GF holding him back,* is considered a Multiversal threat and may still hop through other dimensions anyways? Although I am not saying Bill is unullifable, maybe there can be a better compromise reached (there are still some things that bothered me with Bill's case however even with reasons given: For all his powers and the fact he can cut the distance between mortals in an instant, even angered mind you... Sill couldn't catch children even with the whole over the top "ceasing of time, meaning, Existence" from the beginning... Maybe it was hubris on Bill's part I guess?).

I forgot to mention, but the prophecy circle may have been enough to do Bill in as well, if it weren't for Stan and Ford's arguments at the time (Bill even said that one of their only ways of defeating him was in one easy circle to burn away, implying Bill destroyed such as he knew a successful process would defeat him).

Bayonetta came close, but she wasn't doing it deliberately. The only reason Dante crossed her path is because he needed her - alive - and didn't realize either of these details until he'd accidentally implied he was there to kill her. He's going to figure it out eventually and presumably work out how to bring her back. I like that example because it suits both the franchise narratives: Bayonette acts on impulse due to enormous amounts of long plans and destiny ensuring her immediate impulses should be okay to follow, while Dante acts on impulse and often enough screws up majorly as a result but goes on to fix his mistakes.
And Discord will probably get back eventually. It's good to have friends on top of being hard to get rid of.
The fact that Discord writes his letter explaining what happened to his friends at the beginning of the fight, which we see at the end of the battle, implies that he himself wasn't sure if he could actually beat Bill.
But that didn't matter. Killing Bill was secondary, so long as he could distract him long enough to get him out of their dimension and back into the Nightmare Realm, he had alredy won in his own way.
Its a great way to have both characters "win" without making either seem weak or stupid. Bill killed Discord, sure, but Discord got the last laugh.
Overall, this is arguibly the best Death Battle *ever*
Him sacrificing himself for others is the most Discord thing to do. The series finale had him fight three super charged villains with rocks because he lost his powers just to help his friends gain some time to gain a win
in a way; bill may have won the battle but lost the war.

Keep in mind, Discord kept Bill at a stalemate, and possibly could have done so indefinitely despite making it all up on the fly, AND being distracted with an ulterior goal.
The fight itself was a secondary concern of his at best, because while the fight was ongoing, he used it as a distraction to construct an illusion of multiple layers across multiple dimensions, to not only maneuver Cypher back into the rift without him noticing and seal him there, but completely reconstruct, from scratch the entire MLP multiverse from the damage of Cypher's wierdmageddon, which of course includes untold countless numbers of resurrections. That was always Discord's goal from the beginning, as evidenced by the note he wrote before even starting the fight that Fluttershy found just as the rift sealed.
Cypher was fighting semi-seriously; Discord was fucking around to keep his attention, and making it up as he went along while his full attention was focused on being a literal creator deity beyond Cypher's gaze.

Yeah, you can actually see where they get pulled back into the nightmare dimension after the puppet fighting madness bubble, if you look during one of the next sequences, the rift's colour has changed. Because Discord can just come back with time, his only worry is that he wouldn't reform in time to continue the fight, so he trapped Bill for a few more million millennia, giving him time to reform.

You gotta admit, the voice work they did for this fight was amazing. Both competitors had voices that were well on point. Especially Bill. Also the fun part of the breakdown is that you can see them writing in the background, purple for discord and of course yellow for Bill.

It is unclear, but each copy seems to have their own sentience, since in one episode he says he needs an extra pair of eyes for preparing his home for a tea party, he summons a sort of "reasonable" friend version of himself to help him out. Not only that, multiverse also exists for Equestria, so there's no reason a new Discord with an identical background to the one that died can't simply pick up where he left off for Fluttershy

I feel like even from the beginning of the battle, Discord probably knew he was a dead man walking, so instead of going for the kill. he spent the time taking bill for a joy ride and reseting equestria at the same time that's why he left them a note. And Bill has a tendency to get fixated on a task, so while he can see the future, he's not gonna use it more than to figure out how to kill the pest in front of him
I mean, Discord can't die either. So its only a temporary death. The moment there's some small chaos (like children arguing near him), he will just respawn. While Bill is trapped unless he finds someone to trick again. Hence why Bill won the fight, but Discord won the war.

I LOVE the voice acting in this they don't just sound like them but...SOUND like them ya know? They got the personality and the mannerisms too even having a kiddy charater like discord say "die" feels so in characters.
This was the best battle win of them all. Both sides won in their own way, but one side still won the death battle. It shows proper respect to both sides in a great way and makes both sides of the fandom happy. If they keep this up they'll def redeem themselves over the mid seasons for sure.

This is about as close to a tie as it gets. Discord died, but he saved his world from Bill. Bill killed Discord, but was sealed back into the nightmare realm.
Overall, I say Discord wins. He went into that fight knowing he might lose, so he made his main goal sealing Bill away, while taking every opportunity to kill him if possible.
YEah! And while one can say Bill will eventually leave the nightmare reals, Discord will in the meantime, also regenerate, as long as chaos exists.
That's still a loss in the fight itself.
Since this DB episode has such a good track, I'd actually love to see Nux go over the Death Battle tracks and rank them for a video.

Can Bill destroy spirits? Because that's the biggest sticking point in this Death Battle. The only explanation they have is the "death" of Xyler and Craz, two characters that only exist because they're in a dreamscape. They are certainly *not* spirits, as they are only figments of Mabel's imagination. Beyond that, Bill has only once proven to be stronger than someone else in their own minds, and that's Blendin- and we have *no idea* why that is. He lost to Soos, Dipper, and Mabel once they learned they can use their imagination to boot Bill from Stan's mind, and Bill is unable to stop Stan even as both of their minds were being erased. The only thing he's seen doing with spirits is when he pulls Dipper's from his body, and it's heavily implied that the only reason he can do it is because Dipper unwittingly phrased a deal with Bill that made Dipper into a puppet for him.
Despite it being one of the best Death Battles, Discord should probably have been the one to win. There's no real explanation as to how Bill was able to remove Discord from his mind and seal him in place. I appreciate that despite everything, they kept both characters consistent with their canonical counterparts and they didn't just have Discord go without a fight.

Besides there no a easy way Bill reach Discord's Spirit, the guy tanked a deathly laser bream from King Sombra, you need more that a big chess piece to obliterate Discord body, and in the example provided his body wasnt destroy, was exiled from the school, that is whyt he came back in Spirit form, to troll, impliying Discord body being out of the School and the Spirit inside, is very obvious that he can be in 2 places at the same time, if is not exiled nothing stop Discord from regenerating his Physical form, Spirit Discord is same Strong that Normal Discord and has no relation to destroying him as concept, they calimed that Discord couldnt regenerate his spirit, maybe because no one hurt him in that state and the only reason he doesnt regenerate anything was beccause his body was exiled.
Bill needed to extract Discord Spirit directly and there no guarantee that destroying it would change anything.

Besides DB got one small detail wrong about Bill's powers over souls. Bill has a weak form of soul manipulation. What I mean is even full power Bill needs to make a deal with a person before he can effect their soul. We are this whenever he appears. He always is tryna get someone to make a deal first

To be fair, there were some theories once that King from the Owl House is a reincarnation of Bill. He's got the same voice, he's 8 years old in a show that takes place 8 years after Gravity Falls within the same multiverse, he's in the body of a creature that (with enough time) will receive godlike powers, and King's also a bit of a chaotic gremlin himself.

Pyrrhus of Epirus, who is the namesake of the term won battles with losses that made him unable to continue fighting the Romans, but it was the Romans who needed to deal the last blow by actually winning a battle that allowed them to take over the remaining parts of the Italian Peninsula. You could still technically win a war with Pyrrhic victories if you achieve all the main objectives, for instance the American Civil War where the Union suffered many defeats and victories with heavy losses, but still achieved victory over the south by outlasting their forces and achieving all their war goals.

Tbh Bill is neither more chaotic or would be giddy about this fight. Bill has one of the most easily annoyed egos I've ever seen. He's constantly losing his mind and having tantrums like a godlike child, DB was pretty spot on in terms of his character

While I enjoy the Death Battle and even probably one of my favorites for this whole season of absolute bangers, from what I have been informed of by others, they actually really undersold/misinterpreted Discord and he'd likely be able to get a very easy victory. I mean simply put, Discord has not only disappeared but reappeared by two people simply bickering and he'd likely be just as if not even more empowered by Weirdmaggedon than Bill due to the sheer amount of unbridled chaos he causes. It's like a fire god going against the primordial embodiment of fire whose empowered by even the faintest spark of heat. However I really enjoy the story in the fight and the how in character it is for both of them, plus the comedy is on point. The fourth wall breaks were cool, I enjoyed it since they did it in a manner distinct from their age old annoyance Deadpool. Part of me wants to see Nux watch the Deadpool battles now though
If you're saying this based on the opinions of others on a death battle episode, you'd best take them all with a pound of salt. Death Battles are so easy to argue about by people who are so prone to bias that there's rarely a point to arguing about who should have been the winner.

Usually it's like "I'll probably enjoy both characters about the same amount and watch them show off their repertoire." So I can't complain since at least it works. There have been some cases I wanted one to win over the other and got disappointed but I can usually enjoy it regardless.

I knew it would end like that. One thing they didn't mention in the differences between Discord and Bill is that Discord does have empathy and love in his heart, for Fluttershy if no one else. It makes sense that, if she were in mortal danger and the fate of the world was at stake, he would sacrifice his life for saving a world that she could live peacefully in.

While I agree Bill would win the battle, I think they intentionally misinterpreted things about Discord. We know he can vanish if he himself stops being chaotic, but that doean't mean others can destroy his spirit. They also assumed he comes back as a spirit if his body is "destroyed", and used the Starlight episode as evidence...but at the end of the episode he (or the writer) confirmed he did the whole ghost thing on purpose for fun. His body wasn't actually deatroyed, he was pretending.
The thing is, even though they are fighting here, I think they'd actually be pretty good friends if they weren't. Just two chatotic creatures causing chaos in universes together.

The fun part is that even if Bill escapes the dimension, it'll take millions or even BILLIONS of years for him to do so. And since Discord cares for Fluttershy above all else, he at least ensured that his one true friend and their friends are safe til they die of old age. And odds are given Discord also likely told them what happened and who Bill is in the letter, that gives horse world millions/billions of years to prepare for the triangle by the time he returns.
In other words, while Bill technically won the DB because of the rules of the thing, Discord all but ensured total victory by the end in every way he cares about. Plus if/when he reforms with enough chaos, even this "death" won't matter. So Discord gets the laugh last no matter what in the end.
Death Battle actually got several things about both Discord and Bill and their powers wrong. Truthfully, Discord should have had this battle in the bag. Bill's reality warping powers aren't on par with Discord's, and he faces far more restrictions and limits on his powers than Discord does, who can do several things that Bill either can't or require additional outside power sources to match. Even the way they had Bill defeat Discord was circumstantials, as Discord didn't to revert to a ghost form (he never died), they just made him do it just because. BTW, I'm saying this as someone who likes Bill a LOT more than Discord.
Plus unicorn hair can apparently stop Bill Cypher is a small way similar to forcefields made by the ponies. I'm sure discord has a fuck ton of them lol.

Is not even close, for Bill, they had to invent a weakness for Discord, we are prettending that destroying Discord "Spirit" is the same that destroying his "soul" or even destroying him as a concept, the example they provide didnt even work like that, Discord body was exiled from the school, not destroyed, that is why he came back as a Ghost, implying that his body is over there in some part of Equestria, meaning that Discord Ghost and body can be is 2 parts at the same time, which is not that crazy because Discord showed already having multiple bodies at the same time.
And in a top of that we are prettending that Bill have Soul regeneretion when the set up was in a dream, so, Dipper have soul regeneration too? He regenerated too in that example, Why we are implying that is soul manipulation instead of dream manipulation? The only beigns Bill destroyed inside Stan Mind was fictional characters from Mabel dreams, not real people.
Prettinding Bill having Soul Manipulation and regeneration is very obvious right? But pretending Discord could regenerate his spirit is too crazy? He could just regenerate his physical form whenever he want, in the MLP episode he doesn't because his body was exiled from the shcool.
The real Discord Weakness are power stealing abilites, the elements of harmony, and exile powers (Which should be strong enought to exile more that just his physical form), I don't see Bill with access to any of that.
The more boring one would be forcing Discord be normal, which is the more effective one agaisnt Discord, but doesnt work in this set up, because weirdmageddon would prevent Discord from disappearing.
Another dumb thing they compare the capabilities of the Unicorn Hair with the Grogar Bewitching Bell, which obviously are not at the same level, we are comparing a Shield which passive feat is stealing powers from a cursed totem, not even a monster or Bill Minion, with Grogar Bell which has the feat of stealing powers of beigns at the level of Discord and the princesses, the Bell was the only Bill wincon, because he could stole it from Discord and using agaisnt him.
We could claim that Bill can resist power stealing from Grogar Bewithcing Bell if you wish, but there is not information of Bill having that resistance at that level.
Discord in the other side, could Teleport Bill to somewhere else, like in the fight, or hitting Bill with a move of the same level of the Quantum destabilizer, which is claiming strong enough to defeating Bill, Discord could forced Bill inside of the mind of one of his clones and destroying himself.
Bill weaknesses are very clear and in more disposition to Discord exploit it.
Yeeeaaaaah, for everyone else's current outlooks on such, I knew something was still off when looking at it from a much more deeper angle. Though you have to admit, Shrodingers Physiology that Bill has alone is tricky intially (amongst other abilities that can cause a potential struggle), Discord can still get as complicated as you mentioned (not every ability of his was taken into account too if I recall)...

No need to read or explain all that. Two simple things you need to know
1. The bewitching Bell works in ANY magical being no matter what. If it worked on discord it will work on bill
2. Bill can't harm a soul. The episode they were using was in the dream realm where everyone had a mental projection. If they were soul then Dipper would be dead
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS WHOLE TIME.
They even dug through the trash just to say that Bill can eliminate souls and regenerate his own, even though the guy doesn't even have Conceptual Manipulation to affect Discord.
Also, they compared the Empowerment of both and said that they cancel each other out.
It doesn't make sense, Bill's Empowerment isn't even close to Discord's, Bill was gaining power for many days since Weirdmageddon had started and yet he was still hurt by physical objects and received a beating from Shacktron.
While Discord with just a little chaos freed himself from the prison of the Elements of Harmony, and even, at the time where he was imprisoned, he could cause enough chaos to the point that he became unstoppable even when he was turned into stone.
Even if they were right and their Empowerment has the same power, their logic still fails, because Discord would be being empowered by his own chaos and the chaos of Bill's Weirdmageddon, gaining MUCH MORE power, and if all that fails, he only has to go to Chaosville and replenish his energy to continue the battle.
And well, I won't mention the fact that they were belittling Discord's abilities, to the point where they said Discord's Plot Manipulation wouldn't work against Bill, or that Discord couldn't just manipulate Bill's mind. They even said that Bill with his Precognition could anticipate Discord, even though Discord is immune to precognition since his power does not follow the laws of cause and effect and they do not follow any logic. They were also exaggerating Bill's "omniscience" and knowledge, being that in the series he was shown to have very stupid attitudes and decisions, and Discord also has omniscience and precognition due to all the control he has over space-time and has access to damn plot.
I loved this episode of Death Battle, but they didn't research Discord's power very well, otherwise they would know that he has a clone of himself in his own dimension, so if Discord dies, he simply has to pass his consciousness to the clone. In that case, the real winner of the Death Battle should have been Discord by BFRing Bill to the Nightmare Realm and having a spare Discord in Chaosville.
And comparing the Unicorn Hair Shield with the Bewitching Bell was really silly since the Unicorn Hair only reverses the effects of Weirdmageddon's rarity and is not a real power nullifier, while the Bewitching Bell is an object that It serves to absorb the magic and power of others like Discord and the Princesses, and Discord, Celestia and Luna have previously shown feats of resistance to the nullification, so the Bewitching Bell like other artifacts of Equestria can ignore this resistance.
The only thing the unicorn hair did was neutralize a random totem

They did Discord dirty here. Literally Discord gets stronger from Chaos. Everything in this battle should have made him stronger, them ending in the Nightmare dimension should have made Discord a fucking invincible God, and in the end Bill's powers should have, at every turn, done nothing but fuel Discord. Discord gets stronger from Chaos. Bill only gets stronger from Weirdmaggedon, WHICH ENDS AS SOON AS THEY ENTER THE NIGHTMARE DIMENSION.
They did Discord dirty. Shit when you factor in the comics, WHICH THEY SUPPOSEDLY DO, Discord can defeat beings on his own level with chaos-based powers LIKE IT'S NOTHING. This match-up was a one-sided STOMP, but they gave that stomp to the wrong person.
I mean shit, look at their feats. Bill needed help breaking through dimensional barriers. Discord does that for kicks. There is a vast difference in power between them just based on that. Bill should not have been able to even SCRATCH Discord.
And their logic that Discord wouldn't have taken the fight seriously makes no sense WHEN FLUTTERSHY IS IN DANGER. Seriously, they put Fluttershy in danger and expect ANYONE to believe Discord would not take the fight seriously??? Even the ending they chose flies in the face of that. He might have been fooling around, but he took Bill seriously enough to get him out of Equestria. He knew Bill was a threat. How can they argue he doesn't take him seriously???
This death battle was awesome, but it pisses me off how dirty they did Discord. This should be like having Homelander fight Omni-Man. Similar powers, but one is just so much stronger than the other. He can even make 3D into 2D, Bill should have not been able to do SHIT against him. I'm so annoyed. XD Discord can't even actually die! As long as chaos exists, he will return!
And for Bill?? They gave his powers a boost. His regeneration is not accurate. It takes a while for him to regenerate his eye, he says so himself. And the fucking unicorn hair barrier??? What, because it doesn't work on Bill but works on an inaminate object he beought to life, this means the Bewitching Bell wouldn't work on Bill??? How does that make any sense??? The Bewitching Bell can work on Discord, a being capable of everything Bill is AND MORE, the idea it wouldn't work on Bill is LUDICROUS.
We also have no proof Discord's spirit can't regenerate. The example they use of that is him denying his nature, literally him erasing himself, not being erased by someone else. And it's not his spirit that was fading, it was HIM.
We've never even seen Discord in spiritt form take damage. How can they claim Discord can't regenerate in spirit form when nothing has ever harmed him in that form???

Shit the only reasons he lost EVER in canon was because his opponent was using his antithesis (the elements of harmony), had grown powerful enough to drain his magic (like Tirek, who only dared try because he had already absorbed the magic, strength, etc. of every pony in equestria, not putting him on Discord's level, but definitely putting him in Discord's ballpark) or had used the fucking Bewitching Bell. Other than that, he has never lost. Shit he's never even taken damage that he did not invite himself (which is how Starlight Glimmer was able to destroy his body. He wanted her to).
Discord should have been basically invincible up against Bill, especially at his peak.

Now...There is another Death Battle on my radar that despite being discouraged at first due to one massive haxxy ability the other had, I have found a breakthrough that currently matches it, thanks to the franchise I searched for had a much longer run and it came up... I decide not to reveal my cards about such for now though, but DB might not mention it anyways, stretch some favor, and miss the much bigger picture like what they did here.
To make matters worse, I was there in one of their little discussions that they had about said characters: *the poll was actually close...* The final choice was given from the one they were rooting for, with the other I had in mind loosing, yet there indeed is more nuance to it...

Brother, I agree that there will be other higher gods who will clap Discord, but nobody was talking about the mother focking Beyonder here. If someone were to say that Discord slaps ever god out there, then it is arrogant glazing, but nothing changes the holes in DB's bout that need to be called out, regardless of their growth since this already shows they messed up. Your arguement that relates to this situation holds no actual central merit.
Best part of this deathbattle is this battle is one that even with this result, you can argue with both winning still. It came down to personality. And even then, you could argue both parts going for the kill.
I think Discord would definitely win because of 3 important factors
1. Discord can freely travel dimensions while Bill couldn't leave the nightmare realm.
2. Bills powers can be nullified (the memory gun taking away his powers, look at his defeat in GF for reference)
3. Once Bill is back in the nightmare realm, he loses his physical form.
So in my own analysis, Discord can kick Bill to the nightmare realm, use the bewitching bell to nullify his powers and destroy his spirit in one go like the memory gun did, spirit regeneration means nothing if you are destroyed completely. And Bill can predict the future but has never used it in a meaningful way during weirdmagedon, only to mess with people because he mostly predicts the future with his vast knowledge he has
The problem though, is that a Bill *without the bubble of GF holding him back,* is considered a Multiversal threat and may still hop through other dimensions anyways?
Although I am not saying Bill is unullifable, maybe there can be a better compromise reached (there are still some things that bothered me with Bill's case however even with reasons given: For all his powers and the fact he can cut the distance between mortals in an instant, even angered mind you... Sill couldn't catch children even with the whole over the top "ceasing of time, meaning, Existence" from the beginning... Maybe it was hubris on Bill's part I guess?).

@@FranTheNerd It's odd that the majority says this every god damn time, when that same bubble that covered Gravity Falls was enough to still keep Bill out anyways, for all of Bill's power he can still be negged/kept at bay by certain properties too, and needed the mind of Ford to break the barrier. I recall that the Unicorn hair didn't seemingly cover the more vulnerable parts of the Shakatron, which led Bill to quickly take advantage of said Achilles heels and further immobilize whatever vulnerable spots he can find that way.
Bill's actions are admittedly rather baffling in certain cases as well, at the worst that is, like the next he can close the distance on mortals and simply overwhelm (this was when the bubble was up mind you), says to see everything, etc. etc...Only to not be able to react swings from a Mecha, even while *majorly pissed off* that he took the form of a worser monster form, he couldn't catch the twins... Despite the fact he can control them from a distance, yet didn't, or the fact he can see the future, yet he apparently did not see it coming (not that seeing the future matters much however, as Discord's lunatic illogical abilities still keeps Bill from seeing past him or doing conceptual manipulation as Discord has negged these before also).
Call it an extreme amount of hubris from Bill's part then Discord's supposed 'worse underestimation'. But overall, negging inventory can still be implicating to Bill. I forgot to mention, but the prophecy circle may have been enough to do Bill in as well, if it weren't for Stan and Ford's arguments at the time (Bill even said that one of their only ways of defeating him was in one easy circle to burn away, implying Bill destroyed such as he knew a successful process would defeat him).
They did really well, but I think this fight would be a forever fight, without end, personally.
