The police need to answer as to why they let him drive away - had they not they could have ended this hours ago. The CHP are pros. The cops are a joke at this point.

Those anchors missed the CHP officer dispersing OC spray into the vehicle after pulling the sheet away. Police procedure missed the opportunity, when the one officer had the driver distracted, another small team could have approached the rear and dispersed tear gas through the rear glass and expedited the standoff.
What about the other guy that went trotting away from the van earlier. Did they catch him too ?

It's those offiercers siting at their desks calling out the orders ( instead of allowing those officers on the scene to do what they are trained to do.) it wil be brought to an end quicker & save time & money, but most of all save lives.

The tactics and crossfire on the final approach was awful to watch. Not taking away from the brave CHP Officers for putting their lives on the line to bring people to justice. But man, please get these guys some appropriate training/tactics or call in a team that will do it right.
Watching this live was so painful because it took much too long to apprehend this guy. Here in Houston, a man stole a big rig truck and the cops threw spikes down to stop him. They wasted no time in getting a robot in to pull the doors off the rig and arrest the guy. That's what CA would have done.

The CHP are idiots! How many times they could have just push this vehicle to the side? But no, they want to be gentle ( unless they are giving you a ticket. If you want to see REAL police work, check out the Arkansas State police. They’ll do a pit maneuver at 100mph and then surround the vehicle so the jerk can’t get out!! Now those are tough cops!

I too have 60 years driving in California and I realize these pursuits are all policy driven but for the sake of the idiot in the van and not wanting to upset him, 1000’s of people were in danger, frightened, and delayed! What a waste of police resources too many police and when they have him apprehended they a standing around having a chit chat in stead of moving their vehicles and reopening at least one lane of freeway traffic that has built up.
