- Sad news guys, after posting this video I somehow seized or straight up broke my rear caliper. Ran a couple errands and when I walked out to my bike I noticed it. No clue when it exactly happened but sometime after this video. Can’t find a replacement online. Contacted powersportsmax already hopefully they can help. So yeah all I have are front brakes. The piston in the rear doesn’t move. The brake rotor is burned along with the pads. Thank you all for the likes comments and subscribes!! Be safe out there
I'm a 40 plus year rider just watched your video so I'll offer my 2cents, as others have said get a good quality 50/50 tire or 80/20 tire if your mainly going to be on the road. This bike isn't designed for highway driving it's actually dangerous(any bike under 400cc), these bikes don't have enough hp to get you out of trouble on the highway if a car cuts you off etc . The last thing i would point out is based on your driving time (commuting )plan on changing the oil every 7 to 10 days. They only hold a little over a quart so it's imperative to change frequently . Think about installing a oil cooler for reliability ,cheap install.Best of luck and enjoy the riding season. I should be done with my templar build this week. Looking forward to riding it .
I appreciate the feedback thank you! What Templar did you go with? You’re absolutely right these aren’t designed for everyday highway use. I’ll keep the oil change and cooler in mind!
What a nutty reply. I used to commute once a weekend on my klx250 from northern va to Frederick md, put thousands of interstate miles on it. Held just about the same amount of oil, rode it at 8k for hours on end without issue.
You do know the X model of Templars come with off-road rimlocks pre installed from the factory? I removed the rimlocks because I use mine on the street 90% of the time. Remove rimlocks, get both tires balanced with wheel weights and it rides smooth at every speed the bike can do. You also know soft rubber knobbies will wear out around 1k miles on street. Get the Shinko or Kenda 80/20 and rebalance the wheels with the new rubber and be done. All bikes will benefit from someone who knows how to properly adjust spokes use a wpo in e torque wrench and set them up correctly.
Check if your spokes are tight. Could be causing the vibration.
Hi, is it possible the rear brake is over adjusted and dragging while riding? That will over heat and warp the rotor. The other thing is if you depend solely on the brakes to slowdown instead of down shifting. Vibration could be a rim or tire balance issue. If you can get it up on a lift, create or bucket and spin the wheels observing a wobble side to side or up and down. You'll need someone to help for safety. Front should spin freely. The rear you may want to run it. I hope youcan find and correct the issues. Better road tires mounted balanced and rims trued will help alot
You know I never thought about the rear brake dragging🤔 I’d just like to get new tires and my new front rim installed.
My rear brake was dragging to the point the rotar was smoking. I adjusted it and now it’s not dragging. Also you might need to realign the front forks takes 10 minutes. Also check alignment of rear wheel. Only got 60 miles on my Templar M so far. No highways for me only trails, woods, and back roads. I still have throttle cable issue when turning bars all the way to right it revs up. Still small things to do/adjust. All stock except new gold chain and hangaurds
@@amerikian you said to align the forks?
Shinko 705 dual sport tire 120/80/18 62H works awesome
Delivery scheduled for tomorrow 🎉
shit, my dad lives in Yelm. Lets go...
Thanks I appreciate the review you help me out alot
Of course glad I can help!
If you decide to get a different China bike in the future the KPX 250 by Lifan is a decent enduro that I beleive works great on the street.. I've had 4 China bikes now and the KPX is by far the best on the street with dirt ability. The build quality is good and overall it's a nice bike. I have had some issues but the manufacture backs the bike and gets things fixed. All of the China bikes will have some issues. I've got a Trailmaster very much like your bike and it had a bent rim too. You can take it to a shop they will try to fix it, but no promises. I found the tires are crap on these bikes and that might be the issue. Even if the rim isn't bent it could just be the poor manufacturing of the freaking tire. LOL You don't need to change the oil every time you ride.. You do need to make sure it has oil because they all burn a little as they go down the road. Enjoy, be safe out there. :)
Thank you for the heads up! I’m still needing to replace the tires and check the rims to be balanced 😂
Phones upside down
How fast does it cruse with the 40 tooth sprocket?
Tops out at right around 72. I’m running a 42 tooth
I have same bike with a 42T. These bikes digital displays are off by about 5mph if you use you phone gps. I am pretty sure its intentional. To appear they are capable of higher speeds.
@@AZDirtRider I keep forgetting about that and to use a gps
Dude! Camera angle! 😂🙄
I know I know sorry 😅 Hopefully my recent video is better but I have better GoPro angle now I just gotta upload the video
@@CheapBikeOwner 👌👍
Any sort of DOT nobbies get hella squirmy and wear FAST on pavement. I was running a set of Track masters on my drz400s and hated them on road. I don't think you locking up the rear should have done anything. I'd check brake freeplay and check your spokes, mine had a bit a warp in the front wheel that I worked out by re adjustment. Also make sure your rear wheel is centered too! Imo these bikes really are ment for dirt, but getting some less aggressive tires and truing up the wheels can help...be warned rim locks can be a bitch to get balanced out.
I didn’t think to check the spokes I’ll definitely do that! I agree they’re meant for dirt lol. I’m going to have a bike shop near me install my new tires and new front rim
@@CheapBikeOwner hopefully those new tires and rim calm it down a bit! Nothing like a nobby tire deciding it wants to go somewhere else at 65+
@@r38007 I hope so too!😅
Needs balanced probably
I just recently put a 38 tooth sprocket that's the lowest you can go. now I can go 100mph
No shit a 38 fits?
@@CheapBikeOwner yes 38 will fit. I got mine off of eBay Honda CRF 250cc or Cr 500cc JT sprockets
@@TonyStoddard-x4k I’ll have to check that out. Thanks man!
what front sprocket are you running with the 38 in the back I’m thinking of changing mine on my titan to get some more out of it before topping out
@@DreRidez front sprocket is 13
Bro I got a 39t rear with no rubbing problem
@@maidmujkanovic1053 lucky! lol I may have just been a little stupid when it comes to aligning the wheel after removing it lol
@@CheapBikeOwner I use a digital CALIPER to measure out the space in between tension screw and end of swing arm to achieve the same measurement and ensuring the wheel is straight .. I don’t trust those notches they carved out on the swing arm.
@@maidmujkanovic1053 you’re a smart man lol
Shinko 241 tires.
Lets ride in Washington..Washington
@@alangoodrich6590 what you mean by that 👀😂
@@CheapBikeOwner I know those roads I got the bike too
@@alangoodrich6590 I kinda miss mine man I got a Harley now
The bike is obviously built for dirt bike riding occasional road to trail ride if you want a road bike you should buy one all the things you are bringing up our common you lacking up the rear brake warped the rotor not the caliper those are dirt bike tires.
@@brettmcguire114 yeah I don’t have it anymore I bought a Harley. Sold it for doubled what I paid for it
Your wheels are out of balance
Just listening to you--I don't think you should even own a Bike-- I mean you know absolutely nothing about Bikes or maintaining them.
So I’m not the only person to hurt their brain by listening to this?
This is not a street bike. The stock tires are excellent for off-road use.
You can for sure run a 40. But you can also just go up one tooth on your front sprocket. Changing one tooth on the front is the same as 3 teeth on the rear.
I need to look at my front sprocket and see what kind it is
@@CheapBikeOwner I’m almost sure sunstar makes the sprockets. They also make the factory Honda sprockets. I forget right off the bat but I know for sure there is a Honda crossover that fits it. If you take it or stop by a Honda dealer they should know by looking at it
These ship with the wheels crazy out of true and loose spokes. Watch some videos on how to true the wheels. It’s pretty easy once you learn the method. And it’s free. Doubtful it’s bent. Prob just needs re trued.
I’ll look into that thanks man!
@@CheapBikeOwner watch some vids. You can get them pretty close without even removing them. There is a few methods. We own a dealership tho and charge $50 for returning. Or 25$ if we instal a tire and retrue. So if your planning get tires they may hook you up.
@@Scummy_shovel I’ll look into the re-true method. I still would like to get new tires, something less meaty. I have a new front rim to install
@@CheapBikeOwner yea. Maybe a good dual sport tire. Sonthing go decent in dirt. But still be smooth on the road. You get alot more life out of a dual sport tire also. Just loose some traction in the mud
Look at some of the shinko lines. That be the cheapest and still be a really decent tire. I raced woods with shinkos untill last year and I got a better deal through irc. But I still like shinkos. Wish you was local. I have a building full of tires I’d give ya lol
@@Scummy_shovel I’ll look into that brand, thanks man! Me too 😂
