If you haven't been down the Vince Gill rabbit hole, it's worth checking out. He's got an incredible voice himself and its so unique.
I have to concur. Vince Gill is a talent like none other whether as a solo artist or accompanying another artist, he’s incredible. Vince Gil and Patty Loveless singing ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’ is another song that brings chills especially knowing the history of the song. Great Video!

Every time, I get goosebumps and I can feel the very moment that the spirit enters her body. She has a natural God-given talent, in my opinion. I can’t get enough of her voice! Again, this is my opinion only, but she is the white version of Whitney Houston. Whitney is the only one who could do what Carrie just did. She took us to church and then some! Let’s not forget the harmony from Vince Gill. Vince Gill has an amazing voice as well. Vince gill is also one of the top guitarist ever, in my opinion. Absolutely amazing!

Watching this video makes me tear up every time, not just from her singing but also when the camera pans the audience and we see country music's biggest stars and veterans of the industry such as Naomi and Wynonna Judd reduced to puddles. My all-time favorite performance of my all-time favorite classic hymn.

It’s a great song for telling how good someone’s voice is. I used to work for a company with an amazing Christmas party. Kristin Chenowith performed one year and sang this at the request of the CEO emeritus as this is his favorite song. My bff and I were so impressed. A few years later, he had passed. His sons were the CEOs and they brought Carrie in to sing this in his memory. I wasn’t there, but a friend told me there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
It’s the harmony in the chorus for me. What a moment when Vince’s voice kicks in and blends with Carrie belting out to the heavens. And then something in the second half of that guitar solo made my hands raise, and I’m an atheist.
That's because you are responding to the presence of the Lord. I have the same response every time....and I would have fallen to my knees if I was the one singing that performance...and she probably would have as well if she wasn't such a professional.
You should definitely check out her singing “O Holy Night” live on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Anything she sings is incredible. She is country, but can sing any genre and do it very well. She and Brad Paisley are long time friends and have a wonderful duet, “Remind Me”, well worth a listen. Thanks for your channel. By the way, your voice is exceptionally pleasing to the ear.

Carrie Underwood is a very talented performer. Huge vocal abilities to say the least. Vince Gill is an extremely good guitar player. He has played guitar alongside some of the guitar legends in the music industry. Vince Gill's wife, Amy Grant, has sung worship/gospel songs for many years now. It is a wonderful thing to listen to such outstanding performers.

This is one of my favorite things to hear Carrie Underwood sing! There's always a point where you can tell she stops performing and starts singing for God! She's wonderful! I love her songs Temporary Home and Something In The Water also. And Vince Gill is a country music great! Definitely worth the dive down the rabbit hole.
You're absolutly right. There is always a point when she sings her faith based songs when she stops performing and just sings the song. Those are best most moments. I think because she is singing to God.

I’ve always felt you can literally almost see the Spirit move right through her in this performance. I am not what I would not consider an overtly religious person, but a spiritual person. This moves me to tears every time.

One of my Dad's favourite hymns. He wanted it for his funeral because he didn't want it to be gloomy. It was more about gratitude than misery. This is a beautiful version. RIP Dad.
My mother's favorite hymn and Carrie and Vince knock it out of the park. Her version of Oh Holy Night is also fantastic.
The night that Carrie Underwood was in the finals of American Idol I got my phone (one that was connected by a cord to the wall, for those of you old enough to remember that) and sat down in an easy chair with a piece of paper that I could keep a tally on and I called the number to vote for Carrie. As soon as I heard the voice "Thank you for calling..." whatever, and I knew the call had gone through and been accepted, I put a mark on my sheet and hit disconnect and then hit redial. When I got a busy of course I did not put a mark down. I think the phone lines were open for two hours and I sat right there in that chair and voted as long as the lines were open. My final tally was 500! I had voted for Carrie 500 times! Her career since she won Idol has justified to me the time I spent voting for her.
This is an awesome song and beautifully showcases Carrie's extraordinary voice as well as the voice of Vince Gill. I never thought I would live to see the day when Vince was playing a left-handed guitar. 🤣 MrL, that's my less than subtle way of saying that the picture is flipped and appears backward! Also, I wish there was something you could do so the box with the performing artist wasn't "ghosted" by having your picture superimposed over it. I'm not sure I explained that very well but back in the good old days we would say it was a "double exposure". Just a suggestion. I'll keep watching regardless but these are two things that MAYBE you could fix.
Incidentally, if you want to watch something that will "take you to church", check out Dolly Parton singing "He's Alive"! I watched that live when she first performed it and when she hit the chorus with the choir behind her, I got cold chills and despite the fact that I have watched it many times since then, I continue to get cold chills when she comes out with "He's alive, He's alive". If you haven't heard that song you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Vince Gill has been nominated 47 times for a Grammys, and has won 22. The man is so talented with his musicality on both vocals & instruments. He is also funny, there is a clip of him telling the story of his father getting to meet Dolly Parton, its a classic.
This is one of my favorite performances of this song. Carrie moved the whole room and those of us at home closer to the heavens on this song.
