- Taking a short look to see if the Canon M6 MK II still holds up in 2023. Going over a few features and a some samples.
I'd love to hear what you have to think about the M6 MK II in the comments. I"m also happy to answer any questions you have.
Just want to say thanks yo everyone who liked and commented! Like my boi says, I’m a basketball player with a camera. I love being able to be getting paid to play but I also have a passion for videography and photography, so it makes me happy to see this video getting almost 1000 views.
Recently upgraded to the canon R8 so I’d love to do a video on that as well as a few more videos on quirks of the M6 Mk II
Great video man. Looking forward to more from you. Just wanna recommend raising the volume levels on your microphone, it was a little hard to hear you. Keep the M6ii content coming.
@@Linteria understood. I kinda dropped the ball and didn’t realize my volume was off till it was uploaded😅. Still trying to figure out the DJI mics and balancing audio. But nonetheless, thank you!
Looking forward to the review of the R8. I have the M6 M2 and the R8 would likely be my next when it’s time for another. I have the adapter and speed booster for the M6, so I only buy EF & EFS glass with the future upgrade in mind.

Nice!! What brand Adaptor & Speed Booster do you have? Is it Canon brand or other brand? I see many companies making adaptors so it's really difficult to figure out which is the best. Oh also... Is the Adaptor & speed booster one unit, or two separate units? Thanks!👍

Still my best camera for travelling
This camera small compact size is very nice and liked by mobile crowd who want small yet powerful camera. Sadly canon abandoned M series instead of making M series more better to attract mobile users and also sony. Fuji x100v is a case in point that now people want small powerful camera. Why someone lug 2 kg when they can take nice pictures from mobile of iPhone 14 pro or samsung ultra 23 ! Canon missed a brilliant idea in M series.
They sure did miss out! What a shame they copped out because this is what I, and countless others, have been waiting for; a fully functioning, professional camera body with accessible manual controls, programmable buttons, the best ISO & professional focus technology in a compact size, durable but light weight, flip out variable angle 360° screen, usable flash [the M6 flash, although not that powerful, is useful & can be held with finger to bounce off the ceiling or other angles. They could've done so much more with this design, like instead having to angle the flash w finger, it could click or be pushed into position], and an adequate line of quality lenses to go with it.
Now M6 owners are stuck with using EF-S lenses with a lens mount + speed boost converter which adds to bulk & weight. Thankfully Sigma stepped up & somewhat made up for Canon's failure & abandonment of the EF-M lens mount. Instead of abandoning what was a really great camera body & lens mount format, it would be amazing to see Canon & other companies really work to refine & evolve a design like the M6 & push the limits to refine the physics of building quality, fast lenses for the mount, plus a line of quality accessories like external flashes that won't completely throw off the balance of the camera in the hand.
I'd like to see that instead of customers who would prefer a camera body similar to that of the M6 get pushed off to other companies like Sony, Fugi etc, which may have pro quality camera bodies & lenses but are often quite a bit larger, heavier, that don't have flip out or 360° swivel screens or a usable built in flash, let alone a flash that extends up & out that can be angled to bounce etc etc. I can dream & keep waiting I guess lol. 📸😄
The sports clips look so good with this camera! 😊
The perfect choice when i want to travel light! In a small backpack I can fit the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, the Efm 18 - 150 mm and the efm 32 mmf/1.4. But it is with the Ef-l lenses that the camera reaches the best results. Too bad Canon dismantled the M system instead of perfecting it. This camera is still up to date! How manu apsc cameras today offer the photographic quality of a 32 mega pixel sensor and a 14 fps burst in a such small body?
My best camera. M6II is the best for under $1,000. I forgot to mention FV mode, it's the best.
I bought this camera 5ish months ago coming from a DSLR- I've been really happy with a lot of the photos I've taken. I'm not a pro, just shoot for fun, but several of my pro photographer friends really like it for it's compactness. I think the limited lenses are a setback, but the sigma lenses are great and the 22/32 native lenses are great as well. Adapting ef lenses cuts down on the compactness a little, but is still a great option. I think overall, it's a great carry around camera with great image quality, and for the price you can get it for now (especially used), it's a great option!
100% agree. I mostly use it for sports, so I’m understanding of it not being so compact when using EF glass. Though, when I take it for street photography or clubbing photography I find that using the kit lens, an adapted “nifty 50” or an adapted pancake lens can still keep up with the compactness and I can easily keep it in a fanny pack.
My previous camera was a Canon T3i, so it did cut down on size while upgrading the quality.
Is the M6 MK2 the only camera you have in your arsenal?
it is!@@erickman41 I traded in an 80D for it
How much did you buy yours for?
@@theunchartedmap found mine on Facebook Marketplace for about $600. It came with an adapter, two extra batteries and 70-200 f4-5.6 lens.
I still see a lot of similar deals on there all the time.
i've been using M6-2 for about 6 months...it's been great. I use for primarily for photos, mainly street photography and landscape photography. I like the ergonomics a lot. i can use one handed for all of the photo stuff. Autofocus is great. I use the tracking autofocus and burst mode for when i do street photography. I don't use the viewfinder, because most of the time i take photos from weird angles. Some quirks are that i can't set minimum shutter speed in Fv mode and the battery life is below average. I only get around 4 hours of battery life taking photos on and off. so, i got two extra batteries. Sometimes, i do wish it had a tilty screen because it will make taking vertical photos easier.
it has a tilty, you mean a flippy.
How does it keeps up with eye autofocus on moving people? What is its accuracy?
Great review!, which lenses do yo uuse with this camera? for example the one at the bascketball game?
Hey! For indoor sports, I use a 70-200 f4 L lens and a 15-30 f2.8
Honestly a 70-200 f2 would work better so I wouldn't have to raise my ISO so much, but I make do with what I have.
And what about if only the sigma glass?
Yo fam. That background noise made this vid real painful
I know. I know 🤦♂️
I messed up on that one. I did make another one with better production.
