    If there is anyone who doubts the knowledge, skill and experience of Egils Samgris, I suggest you look again. I have seen too many people who claim to be "professional dancers & teachers" and they cannot even match 25% of what Egils knows and shows. By how Egils shows and demonstrates the frame and movement in this video, clearly shows a teacher who is knowledgeable, skilled and experienced. I wish I had someone like Egils here in Vernon, British Columbia Canada. I would be proud to be his student.
    There is a simple rule I follow, if a person can actually do what he teaches, then in that thing he teaches, he is skilled, experienced and knowledgeable. That is what makes a good teacher. This is what Egils shows in this video.

      I agree, he carefully explains many finer aspects that many teachers ignore or don't know. He should have subscribers in the 100,000's!

      Yes, Peter. Here in Vernon, I started at a local dance studio. The fellow was German and claimed he had competition training when he was still in Germany 20 yrs ago. At that time I had no experience and knowledge about dance, let alone knowing what competition dancing was about.
      Over a couple of years of attending the studio and thanks to my interest in Dancing and competition, I learned what was needed to be a top dancer. I learned to recognize what it was suppose to look like and watched videos of top trainers in the world who also demonstrated the same skill they were teaching.
      After going through the learning process, I began to see that this teacher in the local studio who claimed to be professional was not even close to what he was suppose to have in skill and knowledge. He was a good social dance teacher, but that is where his skills and knowledge ended. Suffice to say, I left that studio and found a better teacher locally who has more knowledge and skill. Egils, (sadly he's across the ocean from me) has also helped a lot with his exercises and videos. My form/technique improved a lot.

      I bought a Top Line Dance Frame, I'm not being paid to advertise it! I thought it felt odd when I used it but my dance partners loved it. They thought my position and frame was a lot better.

    Eglis is a wonderful teacher. His techniques make the man look so much better that he carries away the eyes. Most people don’t see the man but watch the woman.

    Sveta’s spin and the end was so fast I could follow the number of turns (4?) with my eyes! Then when she stopped she still had perfect balance. How did she do that?

    That was a very informative video. I'm looking for ways to keep my shoulders even. I can't seem to keep my right shoulder in line with my left when I open and move my head into position. It's been frustrating.

      +Alexis Mitchell, thanks for responding. 💃 My general suggestion is keep practicing hold and adjust shoulder blades. I could be more specific if you could send me your dance practice video.

    The Ballroom Technique by Alex Moore, you may want to read about frame

    • @jurajpavelek
      @jurajpavelek 6 лет назад

      do you know what does it mean evolution? I like Alex Moore but we live in diferent millenium my friend. With frame from Alex Moore you have no chance on competition.

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks Juraj for your comment. I agree that competition frame is changed, but not in way that is radically different. There still are lot of similarities. Not everyone is dancing for competitions, but for hobby and social dancing “old” frame is quite useful even today.

    What is your assessment of the Top Line dance frame?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  8 лет назад +1

      +Peter Beyer, thanks for important question, I think frame should be connected to spine and be good for communication between partners; also should look elegant and with volume.

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  8 лет назад +2

      Peter, sorry at first I misunderstood your question. About Topline dance frame - I can judge only through what I saw in video and description of this product. It should be helpful to find correct arm position, although it can't develop muscles to maintain frame without "product". Definitely this will help to check good arm position and I would recommend it in combination with other methods.

    Hello mr. Egils ! :)
    I want to ask you about the meaning of bronze,silver and gold level on standard. Can you explain it ? And is there a video contain that things ? Thanks :)

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  6 лет назад +3

      Hello Gung! Thanks for your question. These levels refer to figures in dance technique books. For example routine we dance at beginning and end of video with Natural Turn, Closed Changes, Reverse Turn, also Natural Spin Turn are Bronze figures. Hope that helps.
