    I have LG J0763EL model and unit wouldn't respond to the remote control. It turns out that IR receiver sensor died. I replaced it with VS1838B (3 euros per 10 pcs!!!) and everything is working now. 85$ for new display unit is why this planet is crap.

    • @nickc1913
      @nickc1913 8 месяцев назад

      @shaefrith7263 yes you're right, if you signed the lease and no aircon was specified or advertised in the listing, however if it was in the lease, then they legally have to maintain it so you're also wrong 💁‍♂️

      @@shaefrith7263 that would be torturous not having AC in at least 1 room when temps are in high 30s. I remember when I was renting, the landlord said they were putting AC in at start of lease and putting up rent by $15AUD - long time ago, and I thought great, then when I moved in there was just a single AC in the kitchen/dining area, bummer.

    It`s a nice tutorial! We have the same problem. RC is OK, but receiver doesn`t work. Despite its Fujitsu, the module itself looks identical. How can I research which receiver can be compatible with our Fujitsu, please? I see there is no chance to find exactly what it has right now. Should a new receiver and existed RC controller be somehow paired before using, please? Is there any chance to restore receiver module in case if I can`t find a replacement? Thank you

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  Год назад +1

      I would look on parts websites, e.g. in you were in Australia spares.bigwarehouse.com.au/ will allow you to search by model number. The remote control boards on most aircon indoor unit differ in led layout and the connector, apart from that the control is usually on the main board, ie, the board that has the leds in it is dumb. So all the smarts from controlling the AC is in the main board and in the battery remote control. Also like someone else commented down below, if you were handy you could try replacing the ir led from somewhere like jaycar or an old dvd player. (that may or may not work because the ir leds can operate at different wavelengths - think of that a bit like if the led was red wavelength and yours was an orange wavelength, there are different wavelengths that ir leds operate at and that is a physical thing) The other aspect is the frequency of the commands coming in - but that is goverened by the main ac board and the remote control. Hope that helps a little.

    • @alexanderchuyko4889
      @alexanderchuyko4889 Год назад

      @@RandomSmith Not a little actually! I`ve received a full, detailed instruction what to do!!! :) Thank you very much for this technology! Also... do you know how manual/auto button on the receiver works, please? Does it work in parallel to RC, or, if this button has been pressed once, RC controller is disactivated until it`s pressed secondly? Is this auto mode returns automatically after switching off/on the unit, or it can be the same manual mode next time until this button depressed, please?

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  Год назад +1

      @@alexanderchuyko4889 If you mean the button on the ac indoor unit, I would think the button on that is just an additional way of turning on and off the unit if the remote were broken - I would assume it would operate at the last known mode/temperature. The manual override is most likely there so you can at least turn the unit off if the remote was broken/out of batteries.

    • @alexanderchuyko4889
      @alexanderchuyko4889 Год назад

      @@TheRacolini No. It wasn`t fault of the main board. AC is working itself. I have added a switch and can do on/off without remote controller :) Just can`t manage it or change temperature or mode. The problem is with a receiver- a small electronic module in front of the unit. It connects to the main board with a narrow ribbon cable. It can be whatever- poor contact/s, cable issue or this module needs to be replaced. Somebody advised me to take it out, try to re-solder all the suspicious points, check its ribbon cables with continuity, replace a photo-sensor and, probably it can help. If no, I have a link on a compatible brand new replacement. It costs ~ $52, probably + shipping costs. I can give this link if you have the same issue,

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  2 года назад

      I am not an expert but I guess some things to try
      Have you tried one of your other remotes?
      Have you tried replacing the batteries, with a used battery the remote may not be able to work with that AC very well but can with others.
      Our AC had a lift up cover, have you tried using remote with the cover up to make sure if the cover had some sort of blackout filter to make it look nicer may block some of the light.
      Is there any dust on the infrared led on the AC unit?
      Maybe the infrared led in the AC unit is starting to fail so not detecting enough light from the control which is why you needed to get closer.

    I have a similar model (LG LS H246TNBO). Our unit will not power on with the overide switch/button pressed or remote. Was your overide switch still working on the removed module?
    LG service centre (located in Lidcombe, Sydney) can supply the receiver module, but unfortunately probably will not accept returns (Mexi Trading do not), even if you carefully get the little clip/connector out of the package to be able to plug in and test, keeping the rest of the module covered in the plastic package. I think this is poor customer courtesy. The modules components are covered in some sort of rubbery resin compound, posing a real challenge to test. These types of shop policies I would imagine discourage DIY applications, since one is potentially stuck with parts they do not need.
    I'm at a loss as to what else could be causing no power. Breaker/fuse switch bad? 🤷‍♂

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  3 года назад

      @@uksfinest8541 I think that clean mode just dries the internals of the AC indoor unit to reduce chance of mould build up and probably doesn't blow any air, when you select clean, it would stop the hot/cool/dry mode. Then there is a dry mode that will work as a dehumidifier and will be blowing room temperature air but make it feel cooler by removing humidity (I think you would use that at humidity levels like 80-100% humidity). Cool mode that blows cold air and heat mode that blows hot air.

    Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ruclips.net/user/postUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  3 года назад +1

      Not that I know of...I did a quick google and saw this - www.manualslib.com/manual/15085/Lg-Beko-Lg-Bke-7500-D-Lg-Bke-7600-D-Lg-Bke7650-D-Lg-Bke-7700-D-Lg-Bke-7800-D.html?page=24#manual - it suggests turning on then pressing and holding button for 3-5 seconds until it does a single beep. Then it will cool the room to 22c if temp is above 24 or heat the room to 24c if the room temp is below 21c, might be an option until you replace the aircon or get it fixed. You could contact BigWarehouseSpares via their web form, never know, they might be able to source something or tell you what part is compatible - spares.bigwarehouse.com.au/price_and_availability.php?cPath=102721_102732

AC machines are usually on their own circuit so check that the switch near the outside unit (if split system that has indoor and outdoor units) hasn't been turned off manually. Also check trip switch in household fuse box for the AC unit. (not sure if you meant your main fuse box power tripped or the ac fuse in the main fuse box tripped.)

      thats a tough one. My remote control lit up too and started to work intermittently, so it could be the same kind of issue. We bought a generic remote that was about $25 so at least have that if any other aircons give issue. If you have an android phone, some of those have infrared leds in them for controling things - I remember hearing about kids who kept using their phones to change channels an a tv in a library. You can get remote apps for phones like that. Those kind of apps or generic remote controls just need a certain code programmed in to mimic the real remote. Another option if you have a logitech remote control or similar for a tv, sometimes those have buttons that can be programmed for other devices. Some of them have remote learning feature where you point your old remote at the tv remote an it copies the function (infra-red leds between the remotes - ie that little black/dark red looking led). This would only help if your remote was working intermittently. If it can't send a code, you wouldn't be able to copy it.

      Is that lighting while viewed through a camera? Remote control leds don't usually light up - infrared. Not all cameras will show a remote control light when you press the remote- so test on a camera using a remote control you know is working like your tv remote.

    Back after my vacation, my room in this camp split a/c doesn't work. Especially, summer is getting soon. Company already layed off their a/c technician and the previous campboss was smartest among the dumbs. I fixed it. Indoor unit runs for 48 seconds then automatically shutdown though settings in Fan Mode. Reset it, still the same what happened. I opened the grill and removed the filter, run it in Cool Mode then touch evaporator tubing.... it cools but still shutdown again. I went to the storage/workshop and found motherboard with similar model and replaced it. Not too hard coz it has plugs & sockets. Shift it like playing chessboard when done, run for a couple of hours with settings in High Fan Mode. It run smoothly, then time to change settings in Cool Mode at 27°C ! Haha! It runs but noisy outdoor fan with a screeching sound runs for a couple of minutes and then it shutdown. I reset it still the happened. Switched off the mains and both isolators indoor & outdoor switches then turning fan by hand. Felt the grinding sound and screeching. Disconnected fan motor cable, removed fan then the motor. Opened the motor and checked roller bearings. 6201Z, removed and replaced it with similar number but now its Poland-made NSK. Cleaned and lubricated bearing seat both DE & NDE sides then fixed. Done cleaning by airblowing in compressor compartment and condensator coil,fins then fixed. Switched on all switches then run and set at 27°C runs smoothly, compressor cut-in, cut-off when gets cooled. Then I set temperature lower and lower till I stopped at 24°C. It matches my mercury room thermometer 24°C or 78°F indication. 🎯 💯 🚩 🆗 🆒 📶 💡 😊

    Hello Mr Smith, Thank you for your information provided. However, I see that your hand trembles...I used to have that same issue not knowing it was a result of over work and not getting enough rest. I can tell you're a hard worker too 👍💯 nevertheless my friend we gotta take it easy on ourselves sometimes. I recommend you drink (molasses) it's a by product of sugar cane. You can ask your health profession about it and he'll tell you how to consume it. I tell you Sir that it works for me...my nerves was going because of too much work and lack of sleep. I'm not really saying that's the case with you, it's just out of respect I feel delighted to share my story because I'm a man too; we gotta look out for each other because we are all one in the Name of our Lord Jesus. In pursuit of truth I've questioned a lot of medical advice. The allopathic medical system is corrupt. When you realise that 101 doctors have been murdered for speaking out about the dangers of vaccines you start questioning everything.
      It's all controlled by the Rockefeller family who do not have our best interests at heart. Allopathic medicine is based on the false germ theory which is NOT real medicine.
      I would use holistic medicine instead.
      Lookup Eustace Mullins murder by injection. He gives a pretty good overview of the pitfalls of allopathic medicine.

      It does seem to be a common complaint in older units. Good thing is that the replacement part itself if you are competent at DIY is about $80 AUD, just remember to turn off the power if attempting it and be careful with the plastic clips of the cover.

    • @RandomSmith

      (I am no expert in Airconditioners), If you have checked the common things already 1- use a fresh set of batteries in the remote. 2 - check that the remote is sending out commands - if you look at the end of the remote at the infra-red led then it should show up as white light under an older style digital camera if it lights up white on the camera screen then the remote is probably ok. If it doesn't light up on the camera screen make sure the camera can see remote lights by flashing a known working remote such as your tv remote under the camera - to check that your camera can see IR lights. 3 - optional - try a replacement remote - you can get replacement remotes that can work with a large number of air con units. 4- if you have an android phone, some of these have IR modules in them that you can get applications to control things like TVs/Aircon units using that built in IR module, might be worth a try. 5- if the air con unit works by pressing the manual button on the aircon unit and the remote is still sending a signal like in point 2, then it could be the IR receiver. More often than not the IR receiver is a replaceable module that can be replaced by an aircon repair guy or if you know the risks of what to touch and know how to turn off the power to the aircon circuit then you could attempt it yourself. My IR module in the AirCon unit was about $80 AUD delivered and I fitted it myself (i am fairly competent around electrical devices).

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  4 года назад

      You have a/c apps for your aircon? Wish mine did. Is the app on your phone an android one using infra-red on the android (phone has to be pointing at a/c - line of sight) or connecting over wifi (can usually control it from outside the room)? If it is using infra-red then that would point to the same issue as your (infra-red) remote. Point your remote and a working tv remote (or android phone ir-led) at a point and shoot camera, if only one ir-led lights up on the camera screen, then you know it is more likely the infra-red sensor on the AC unit.

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  4 года назад +1

      @@katk8582 I would say no, the remote control send a signal to a light sensor (infrared so you don't see it light up) in the AC unit. If that sensor is not working, it won't stop the other functions in the AC. If the manual button is ok, and you are ok using that then keep on doing that. When I contacted LG about mine (also between 10-20 years old) they would only say that I would need to get a technician out to take a look. If you did need the timer/remote functionality then there is still a chance that spare parts are still available.

    Anyone having the same problem, just to let you know that I replaced just the offending ir sensor instead of entire display unit. I used the one from old non functioning dvd player. Soldering skills needed though, but better then shelling out $$

    • @RandomSmith
      @RandomSmith  Год назад

      If I ever get around to it, I still have my old sensor and some IR leds that I bought from Jaycar. The back of the old sensor was covered in sticky adhesive pad which took about 30 mins to remove if I remember correctly. The replacement IR leds are about $5 AUD. That replacement board was about $85 AUD so definitely worth soldering one on if capable. I don't think you could damage the AC by soldering a new LED - case of it will either work or not. (IR LEDs can have different wavelengths)

      At the start of the video, you can see me holding the lg remote. Later in the video I was using any remote that was near me to demonstrate that “any” ir remote control will output pulses of infra red/ir. Yes, that happened to be my Panasonic remote for my downstairs ac. But yes for continuity purposes, it would have been better to use the lg remote, but for the point I was getting across at that point even a tv remote would have sufficed. A keen eye you have :-)
