Also, I see this question in the comments very often: "so what do I do if I press the plunger and the unit comes on? Should I replace the capacitor?"
If the unit comes on, that actually means the capacitor is likely not the problem. If pressing the plunger turns your unit on, I suggest watching this video to further narrow down the possible problems: ruclips.net/video/NVPhsK4gK1A/видео.html
❤❤😂
Video is 5 years old and I noticed only a month ago he still cares about your comments. Thank you for helping people because many don't have the finances to afford a tech to fix their AC.
I’m a woman who lives alone and have no money to call in a service person. Thanks to you and your videos, I just fixed my central air. It was the plunger on the contactor I may have to replace the part but I think it’s not too expensive. I’m thrilled🥳 I’ve been doing all my own repairs for a few years now but thought I was probably doomed with this one…..nope. Thanks to you. 😆
Me too
Ever since RUclips became what it is today there is nothing that I won't consider fixing on my own. I didn't have a clue about working with my hands or what was needed to tackle these things. These videos that these industry leading people put out have saved me so much money it is unbelieveable. I watch my parents get ripped off into my young audult life by contractors who took advantage of them not knowing how knowing what is fair and what is actual highway robbery. I'm 51 and the last 15 years I went from being an average Joe to the extended family and friends Plumber, Journeyman Electrician, Light AC Repair, Auto Mechanic for things that would have cost me thousands and I was able to do it for under 20 or 30 bucks! Appliance Maintenance and Repair. Washing Machine (5 times), Gas Dryer (3 Times), Thermostat Replacement, Gas Water Heater Maintenance and Replacement (2 Times), Big Screen TVs that cost thousands of dollars totally repaired for a couple bucks replacement of computer control board capacitors, Kitchen Sink Replacement, Reverse Osmosis Overhaul Better Water Tubing and placement for stronger pressure to fridge ice machines and water dispenser, Kirby Vaccuum Rescued from death 5 times over the years, Expensive High Quality Wet Vaccuum parts fixed or replaced, I refinished our oak front doors quite literally stripped off the old lacquer and stain and sanded them and made them better than when we bought the house, Installed 5 Ceiling Fans, I could go on and on.... This monkey see / monkey do approach by using a tablet to play videos in step by step by guys like this seriously has made these expert procedures totally safe, fast and so low cost. I tip my hat and recognize their efforts and turning me into a one man army of tradesmen doing work that amazes even me. KUDOS! -Tony Cusimano
I’ll take care of you
We're not concerned that you're a woman. That's what you guys wanted, equality and can do everything a man can do, so no sympathy due to gender
GOD made this guy for us 🙏🏼
I Agree 👍😅
🙏🏽 amen
This guy is the best. I have saved thousands by following his video suggestions. I wish I could buy him a beer or dinner! Saved my AC and heating at least 5x now.
When I turn on my AC through my thermostat nothing is happening I went up into my attic and nothing happens there I went outside to my AC unit and nothing happens there either. I did pull the panel to my AC unit and pushed in the plunger which did start the ac unit but it shuts off as soon as I let go. Does the thermostat talk to the ac unit first or does it go to the furnace first?
I replaced my capacitor 2 years ago by the way. At that time I had the humming but after changing the capacitor it worked just fine.
@@funwithmaddox23 sounds like you’re not getting 24v to the contactor. Something in the circuit is open, I would look for a tripped float switch or maybe a tripped high pressure switch on the freon line.
@@funwithmaddox23could also be a bad 24v power supply, but most likely just an open safety switch.
@@funwithmaddox23Have you got your AC problem fixed now?
The gift of teaching is the ability to explain things simply so that they are easily understood. This guy has it.
What's this guy's Venmo? He had the patience to walk me through exactly what was going on and fixed it. He needs to be paid.
so true , he is the best
The link for his paypal is in the bio i did it myself and absolutely he deserves wayy more then we can give man. Absolutely in my top 3 favorite people of all time!!!
It's in the complete description. 😉
I love this man ! Thanks, learning more today..❤️🙏
OMG! You described all that was happening. My problem was a simple flip of my circuit breaker!! Can you imagine how much I would have paid for someone to come here, inspect system, try things, try the circuit breaker, and bill me a couple hundred dollars! lol... you saved my hot sweaty bones!!!!!! Thank you!
This is the third time you helped me fix my HVAC problem. Awesome videos. Thanks brother.
You're welcome brother. Glad to hear that the video is still helping, stay cool!
Second time for me :)
What were your issues @mathhewwhenely7289?
I'm a 34 yr old female with no electrical smarts. Lol I watched two videos of yours and was able to fix the air conditioner in my girlfriend home. Thanks for your help! Couldn't have done it without you!!!
That's cool... come fix mine!
@@ChrisPadillaAZ lmao I'm no professional but this guy is super helpful lol
My husband (the electrician) had spent an entire day trying to figure out what was wrong with our AC. I (stay at home mom/wife) watched this youtube video and I fixed the problem under an hour. 😊 It was very helpful and clear to understand. 👍
That's awesome!! Love to hear that! :) Your husband owes you a fancy date for that. Thank you for the comment, stay cool!
Rock on!
Yay! Mom powers!
@@constancegreiner906 go head girl that's awesome
If the problem was something electrical then your husband should be ashamed 😂
Direct and straight to the point. This guy knows his work. I don't trust half the technicians out there charging me for random unneeded repairs. It's good to diagnosis things yourself these days.
Getting too old, I guess. My service guy just left. A blown fuse on furnace that I didn't put a good effort in finding. He T.S. for reason of blown fuse. Didn't find a reason. Cleaned out water drainage pipe, and cleaned ac/heat exchanger unit while he was here. I'm satisfied but have not got the bill yet.
Your speed instructing in your video is perfect, anything we miss , we can just rewind to see again !
You just saved me having to call a technician. My girlfriend and I just bought a house and when our AC was on, the vents were blowing air but my house was only getting warmer. With your video I was able to trace the issue to the wiring in my thermostat and I rewired it. Idk how the previous owners lived without AC, but thanks to you I won't have to share that experience.
Whoever said that this dude should be a teacher a tech school.. I agree, this dude is awesome.
This guy is hilarious and super helpful
You are awesome. I fixed the AC at my old place twice with your videos. I moved into a new place, and here I am again. 😂 AC problems and low on cash with this inflation. Thank you so much for this!
THANK YOU!!!! I'm a Univercial Certified homeowner with NO "job experience". The videos on youtube still confuse me most of the time. I thank you for the complete break down on a service call.... Your the MAN!!!!
I watch a lot of DIY videos and this is the best I've ever seen. Every word is useful and it helped me solve my AC problem.
]
As
I agree 100%.
Tied for "Firstly, I'd like to say"... the walk-through on possible problem points was totally on-point...tied for "firstly" is why would anyone give a negative.
I have an AC unit that blows air but the outside unit doesn't do anything. No hum, no noise, no fan. Breaker looks good, so it must be outside. I learned from this video how to check for electrical issues in a CAREFUL way. The system is old but I have a desire to check it before jumping in to replace the whole thing (especially with the financial situation effecting us all).
Even if it needs to be replaced, I can speak with the estimator on a more educated level about AC units.
I truly appreciate this video and I will use what I learned to do my own troubleshooting BEFORE jumping the gun to get everything replaced.
If, after, the basic checks deem the repair beyond my abilities, I will call upon a professional to do the work.
YOU are an honest professional.
You are a fine young man our country is in need of people like you , you really helped me today
Clear ,concise trouble. Whoever taught you did a damn good job & must be proud
Thank you Roy! Glad you liked the video! :)
I rarely subscribe but this site is a must for any DIYer. Thanks for your clear and concise videos, no bad music or bits, just good useful info that saves people money.
You are an amazing instructor. A pretty comprehensive coverage in 30 minutes.
Your video helped fix my problem!! Thank you so much! I am a single lady who just bought my first Condo and I learned soooo much!! Thank you so much for doing this video!! Thank you, thank you!
I have never left a comment on RUclips but this dude is awesome
It is an honor to receive your comment 😄 Thank you for stopping by!
I know neither have I but this guy is really helpful
You are an expense- saver! Having at least what may be the problem helps.
This guy is the absolute best anytime I have a furnace problem I look for a video by him on how to fix the problem on RUclips. He has help me at least a handful of times fix my furnace over the last couple years and I’ve saved tons of time and money. thank you for your help furnace guy.
Bro this guy help me out fr I did by my self following the steps he said and it works he’s the man
Same here.
Great video. I followed all of your instructions and was able to narrow it down to a loose wire . You saved me a ton of money by not having to call someone. My AC unit is over 20 years old and I'm sure I would have been told to replace the entire unit. Thanks to your video we got our air conditioner up and running in a heatwave.
Cannot thank you enough! Outdoor unit stopped working…bad capacitor, found a local place willing to sell a new one to homeowners and voila cold AC again, thanks to you showing me how to repair it myself and potentially saving me hundreds (the new capacitor was only $5.78) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THESE VIDEOS!
It's nice to have someone that does this every day to explain how and what is happening when the different symptoms show them selves and how to correct them .
These used tl be a secret of the trade but when capitalist corporate greed ensures the average middlclass citizens cant afford to pay a professional anymore this content is welcome and exceptional
This guide is perfectly detailed but simple and definitely helpful. You doing the lords work out here brother. Thanks
Your first check -- 2 minutes on thermostat workings -- gave me the info to realize my jumper to Rc wasn't making proper contact.
Voila! Free, working AC again. Extremely helpful & professional video. Threw your paypal $20 as a thank you. WAY less than a repair call.
Dude, you are awesome! This video helped me get my AC working with it being over 100 degrees today, and forecast for the next week! You really do a great job of explaining everything. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
You're a legend my man. I grew up living in condos with central AC so I've never had to deal with outdoor compressor units, I learned more about ACs from this video than I've ever known in my whole life
I'm happy to hear that!! :) Glad you learned a lot from the video. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I really enjoyed your video
Incredible. Many people can make a video, but you have a gift, you can simplify an otherwise intimidating undertaking like the AC unit fix. Thank you for getting right to the point and not wasting time. You've given me the confidence I was lacking to troubleshoot and fix my unit and You've set a very high bar for anyone trying to make a video on this topic.
Thank you.
Awesome explanation bro
Zx -1x100q00
I just want to say thank you so much!!! for all your videos it's like a library for homeowners I appreciate your time to explain very detail everything I was able to fix my my AC, and it's true you should be a teacher the way you explain things is the way people learn, God bless you.
Wow - you hit the nail on the head for me! I installed a new thermostat last fall and didn't know I needed to jump R to RC. The moment I saw that comment on your video I knew I had the solution to my problem. THANK YOU!
This video was a life saver for me. I went to turn my furnace on for the first time last week. Absolutely nothing happened. I found my new puppy had chewed the wires outside. I cut out the chewed section and put them back together. Still nothing. I found this video and discovered the 5 amp fuse on the circuit board. I had no idea there was a fuse on there and thought they were all in the main fuse box. Just like in the video, it took me a bit to even find it. $3 later for a 5 pack of fuses and it kicked right on! Thank you so much!!
You're welcome! Glad to hear my video helped you find the problem! Thank you for leaving a comment, stay warm!
Excellent walk through explanation of how to troubleshoot the AC unit in a very easy to understand language, one of the greatest videos, thank you!
Bjkj
WOW....GREAT STUFF! The best summary of TOTAL system troubleshooting for no AC! I LOVE IT!!!!
Going for a interview and I’m watching your videos to educate myself further. God bless you brother.
Excuse me sir you should be a college instructor no joke you make everything understandable for every listereners backround you are phenomenal LOVE IT !!!!
Thank you! :) Glad to hear you liked the video!
I second that. I was convinced when you correctly said OL=Open Line. That one is a pet peeve of mine.
@@tdriggers3 Thanks Tim! Though I said that part correctly I am sure there are plenty of times when I don't as well (in this and other videos) Luckily we have the comments section though, where smart people can voice their corrections ;)
VERY WELL DONE FROM START TO FINISH...GREAT JOB.
For real though...Great Job!!!💯✅
awwesome...i followed along and found my AC fuse blown. ran to get a replacement and it worked. saved me a couple hundred dollars. just having someone come out and look was gonna be $80. really saved me on a 90 degree day. Thanks
Ommggg this saved me!!! I'm in California and it was super hot today, 110+ degrees outside. Our AC stopped working and it was 92 degrees in the house. I panicked because no one could come out today. I followed the first few steps and it worked!!! Thankfully it was just a reset of a few things. Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Thanks so much for this video! A few years ago my circuit breaker and transformer blew out in a powerful storm. This video helped me tremendously. To the extent I could have a conversation with a friend's husband who runs an HVAC business and he helped me step through the multiple problems and then walked me through fixing it and gave me a free transformer. I learned a lot.
Just now though the thermostat was running, but the house was 3 degrees warmer and getting warmer. I checked all the stuff inside the house and finally went to the compressor. The compressor was hot as I approached it. The thermostat asked it to turn on, but the fan blades moved barely. Then the poor thing gave up. I got a stick and waited for the next round and I helped the blades just a bit and the whole thing came to life. What a joy! Slowly, the compressor cooled down with all that air circulating. I'm standing on a chair under the vent enjoying a wonderful cool breeze grateful. Thank you!!
This information legit saved me $200+ USD during a heatwave in Central California. It was 114 degrees on June 18th when my capacitor failed.
Man, you are quite a remarkable young man! The attention to details is astonishing.
This is the BEST VIDEO I’ve seen explaining air condition units❤ Thank you for this great tutorial😃
Your UTube advice was fantastic! I live in Texas and the temp currently is 99-101 degrees! The company that installed my AC unit two years ago said it would be 7 days before could come for a service call!?? I had to do something! I guessed that it was the capacitor after doing some investigation per your channel. I didn't have a meter, so I was going to go get a new 45/5 uf capacitor hoping that was the problem. I stopped for a soft drink on the way to parts store there was an HVAC truck also getting soft drinks. I asked them if they could check it for me, they looked at the capacitor and saw it was a little rounded on the bottom and top and said "yes, it's bad". I replaced it and the unit began cooling immediately! Thanks again, you saved me and my family some very uncomfortable days! keep up the good work, God bless you and good luck!
Absolutely one of the best videos with references and parts and tools that I’ve seen. Not only was the subject well taught, but easy to understand and relatable. Just found a lump of spider silk in the relay on my neighbor’s unit. I never would have thought to even look for that without your talking about critters and the visible/invisible damage they can do. Thanks!
Nice to see a very intelligent person doing a video like this! The language was easy to understand, the video was well shot and there was no music or background noise. Keep up the EXCELLENT videos!
Thank you for the high marks Mike! I appreciate the comment! :)
I just wanted to say thanks so much!
Because of your troubleshooting videos? I was able to rebuild a dead 3 ton, & 1.5 ton unit that went down on us. The company we hired to give us an estimate on the 1.5 ton quoted us at $2,700 for a whole new unit because he said the compressor was dead. After watching your videos? I was able to fix the problem & get the system up & running for $9.37 for the new wire terminals that had to be installed on the compressor wiring harness.
A moth decided to nest under the cover of the compressor access area, which arched out the wires & there was no continuity traveling from the wires of the capacitor, or connector to the compressor. You showed me how to test the compressor & it was testing “Good” which was correct.
After striping down the wires, replacing all the terminals with new insulated ones? I was able to get the system up & running again. Thanks so much.
The guy who installed my furnace forgot to put the jumper between R and Rc in the thermostat. I would have never figured that out without this video. Thanks.
This video put me on the right track with the 3 amp fuse. Dig deeper and found a bad chip on the circuit board. Bought parts and was a 30 minute fix. This guy is a great teacher and saved me a few hundred bucks I am sure.
drunkkajun I think my problem is similar to your experience - how did you determine which control board components were bad? Our red LED light power indicator on the board does not light up and the fuse is NOT blown. So it seems power is not getting to the board OR something in the board may be burned up/malfunctioning, hence not allowing the LED to receive power meaning nothing else can work in the system. Just don’t know what that problem is! We recently were struck by lightning and several days later, our downstairs HVAC system stopped working. I’ve checked all breaker switches as well (even turned off/on for good measure). Please let me know if you have a suggestion for how to narrow down why the circuit/control board isn’t getting power. -Dan
I am so happy to have found your video… you have saved me a lot of money! It actually was the fuse! My husband replaced it and we are back in business! I definitely have subscribed! Thank you so much!!
Include me in on the long list of appreciative viewers that were able to get our air conditioner back up and running for $15. I am now a subscriber and thank you for you willingness to share your expertise.
My wife sent me your video. Thank you. I'm an electrician and this video helped confirm the motor in our unit was shot. I thought maybe it was something worse.
Clear instructions even a DIY dummy like myself can follow. Diagnosis points to capacitor failure. Bought one and followed your other video to replace. Now my AC is working again a few hours before the heatwave comes in :) What a great service you have provided. You should start a paypal account so I could appreciate your great instructions besides words.
This video has helped me keep my old clunker a/c going for years now. Thank you, sir.
Awesome and thorough video. I had 0 HVAC knowledge going into this. Thanks to you I was able to diagnose the issue with our AC. Ruling out certain things and confirming others, until our unit was back up and running. My family won't be sweating tonight and you saved us some money. I only got shocked once in the process! 😂 Thanks again!
This guy is a life saver.
I have watched many videos on RUclips that solved my problem, saved me time and saved me money. This video has done ALL THREE and you have my sincere thanks! You can add me to the list of folks who had nothing more than a blocked contactor (solenoid) switch that prevented the compressor unit from getting the message from the thermostat to turn on!! My unit had an ENORMOUS nest of some sort under the plate that COMPLETELY covered and blocked that switch. Cleaned it out and everything is working fine! Problem solved. Time saved. Expensive service call avoided! Thanks again!
Thank you! Our AC went down during a heat wave one evening this week. I knew it would hours if not days to get it looked at, your video helped me narrow it down to the capacitor. $30 and 12 hours later, cold air is blowing again. Thank you VERY much.
I'm so glad I found this video!!! Tracked my non-working a.c. to a bad capacitor and for only $13.05, I ordered and installed a new one. Great help and education!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I was able to diagnose the problem within minutes. Everyone else needs to take notes. AC capacitor 13 bucks to buy. Thank you thank you. I live in Texas so we need our AC
Way to set the standard my man! I can't thank you enough for this incredibly well constructed video. Every aspect of it is top notch. Seriously, kudos my friend - you taught me more than just fixing an AC unit here.
With your advice, I helped save my girlfriend hundreds of dollars by fixing the busted capacitor in her unit. $21 part, and 1 hour of time (including driving to the hardware store) - and she didn't have to go a full day without AC in 95 degree heat.
This video is solid gold. Pointed me right to my capacitor which had exploded. Installed the new one in 15 minutes and was up and running--as good as new. Thanks for such a comprehensive and informative video!
That's what I like to hear! :) Glad you were able to get it fixed quick! Thank you for commenting, stay cool! ;)
yea, this guy needs more views.
Thank you. Came home after a holiday weekend to a non-running AC. 90 degree day. Found your video and was able to get it working. Thank you.
Really appreciate someone using their talents an education to teach the public on how to problem solve without spending thousands hats off to you man an you are appreciated.
Thank you! I watched the whole video and fixed my ac thanks to you! Ended up sending this to a few friends too! Fantastic video, ended up watching a few others of yours further breaking down individually components and how they all work together!
I never leave comments but I have to say thank you for this one. It totally clicked and helped me fix my AC system. Checked all the electrical signals and everything seemed fine, but noticed the freezestat lockout was blinking on the control board. No idea why that wasn't cleared because the coil wasn't frozen, but power cycling the furnace fixed an issue I've been having for weeks. Thanks so much for this video. Learned a ton and saved money calling a repair guy.
You're welcome! Glad to hear it helped! Thank you for leaving a comment, stay cool!!
Your video just saved this unemployed mother a TON of money. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the great video! You really saved me. New capacitor installed for $40 and I am back up and running. I really appreciate heroes like you on RUclips.
You saved the day telling us about that "plunger" switch. Thank you so much for the informative video! Keep it up man
THANK YOU! This ranks with the best youtube maintenance and howto videos I have ever seen - which is many on many subjects. It is very well done and was VERY helpful. Those who gave it thumbs down can go back to watching cartoons and call an HVAC company. Thanks again!
Thank you Carl!! Glad you found the video useful! :)
Planning to go to trade this September ( becoming HVAC tech) I’m preparing ahead of time, I learn more through your teaching, and I hope my Teacher will be as great as you
We’ve been baking in these warm temps … watched your video, went outside & pushed the fan to turn. We now have cool air coming in. Thank you for your clear directions. Love your video … you are my hero of the day.
Watching this video just saved me hundreds of dollars. All I knew was that my A/C was not working and I had no clue as to what was wrong. By going through the check list in the video, it turned out that the "plunger" had dirt inside it, preventing power to get through. Cleaned it out and everything is working again. Thanks !
This is HANDS DOWN the most comprehensive and most DIY friendly RUclips video concerning HVAC systems. This guy is obviously very knowledgeable and has done a great job of explaining how to troubleshoot problems with your HVAC system and how to properly maintain it. Great job 🧐🧰🔧👨🔧
You just saved the day! This plus the capacitor replacement video and our AC is up and running. And the capacitor cost me $14, way less than even a service call fee! And faster than a tech could have gotten here. Thanks a ton, heading over to your PayPal right now! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much. Checked 240v. All good. Closed it up and almost gave up. Then I remembered your advise about kick starting the fan. 🎉❤😊🎉🎉🎉 AC is working. Thanks.
Thanks for this great video. I checked my wiring inside my furnace but I wasn't expecting to find a fuse in it. After you mentioned the fuse I looked again and there it was. A blown 3 amp fuse attached to the circuit board. Changed it out and it worked like a charm. THANK YOU
OMG, I have never watched a video that gave you so much information and I've watched a few, as I like to fix things myself if I can. You are great, thank you so much for this video, I still can't get over the fact that you shared so much. I don't know that I'll be able to figure it all out to actually get my air working without calling someone because I'm scared I'll mess something up but wow, thank you, thank you for the share. I did the basics that you said but it still won't turn on. The thermostat shows it on but it's not. I'll try some of the other things you said and see what happens. Thank you again! You're fantastic!
I have question my condenser fan motor is working good but my compressor stop many times I check 24 volts is ok ,from thermostat to condenser is good 24 volts the compressor continue do same problem?
@@zurdohtown your short cycling somewhere. Check your drain line and your float switches. Be sure they are installed properly and check drain
Great video, most people act like they know something, this kid does.
This young man is AWESOME!!! What a wonderful, thorough, comprehensive presentation.
Excellent job! Straight forward, to the point, no BS and very informative. You guided me to solving my no AC problem. Thank you!
You are my hero young man!!!! Living in Vegas triple heat where there is no good time for the AC to go on the fritz.,,As Murphy's law prevailed mine went out, after having the vents cleaned and the AC checked. I was totally disappointed. Guess what? I just had to motivate the fan blade to move which was step one of the second video I watched of yours. AWESOME!!!!!
I just discovered mine had this same problem. Thank god for this guy. Triple Digits in California. I was wondering do you have to move the blades every time you want it to go or did getting it to budge that once clear out what was there and now it spins up without issue?
I dont care what anyone says this video was amazing you saved me a shitload of money thank you very much sir.
Hi
Lol thanks for commenting guys and gals! The more comments, the merrier ;)
Pure Natural. You are a great human being for sharing your knowledge. Thank you. The next time I buy my kids a treat, I'm showing them a pic of you. Thanks for saving me money, my kids can definitly benefit from the savings.
Thank you Thank you Thank you! I was all stressed out to call an AC repair person with the fear of getting ripped off, replacing something that did not need to get replaced. I followed the diagnostic steps in your video and also did a major cleaning of everything. I figured I would a least be better educated as to what needed fixing/replacing when I did call a repair person. Best case I was hoping for a dirty relay or a bad capacitor. But a pleasant surprise, after all the cleaning, the relay made a joyful click when I started things up and the AC is running again.
Happy to hear you were able to get the AC going again! :) Thank you for coming back to leave a comment, stay cool!
What is considered getting ripped off? Most contractors are trustworthy. We are paid for our knowledge, experience, credentials, tools, trucks, insurance, business licenses, bonding, vehicle insurance, etc etc. I don’t mind the comments about saving money, I take offense to comments that indicate a certain profession is crooked.
Thank you so much! I was working today and it was 94 outside. My wife calls me around 2pm and tells me the AC won’t turn on and hasn’t since mid morning. With this video I was able to get my outside condenser unit running again!! I don’t know sh#t about HVAC but with the help of the video I figured it out.
You have done a comprehensive job. Well done. Got my ac restarted. Thank you
Thank you for the walk-thru! I was able to diagnose my problem, and found that one of the 24v wires had come loose in the furnace. Now I just need to clean the outside unit.. Thank you again!
I’m an apprentice in the HVAC field, did well in school but still don’t know what I’m doing. Recently started with a company just as a servicing helper. Have had some awesome techs showing me the ropes and making things clear, anyways just wanted to say you’re helping me make some things clear as well. Thank you for sharing the knowledge and I’ll definitely follow up with you and keep watching your videos!! Peace
I’m doing some AC maintenance on the side and your videos helped me allot. Thanks man you’re awesome!!
Best video on the internet, just got my unit going!
Thanks a million for the clear, concise, and accurate advice. Your presentation strikes the perfect balance between technical and pedagogical. I was ecstatic to learn that my problem could be solved by merely replacing a fuse. Certainly a one-dollar fix is better than hundreds of dollars for a service call by a contractor!
You're very welcome! Glad to hear you had a simple fix! :) Thank you for coming back to leave a comment, stay cool!
Thank you. You are not rushing, you are being to-the-point and respectful of others' time.
Just thought I would say THANK YOU for sitting out next to me while I was figuring out what is wrong with my HVAC unit. Oh! And repeating yourself over and over again until I understood how all the parts work together. 🤣 YAY RUclips!!! My husband is not interested but I am. I love knowing why and how things work! 🙃
The capacitor should be here tomorrow and I will let you know how it goes….it’s either that or the fan motor, but leaning towards the capacitor. 👍
Update…capacitor replaced. No electrocution took place. Fan works. 👍 No cold air…😬🙄 on to the inside of the house! Next video…👍
Thank you very much, Sir!
You just saved me some serious $$$ and 3 days of suffering in the heat.
Your video is very educational and easy to follow, much appreciated.
This channel is priceless for new & first-time homeowners! Been using it to troubleshoot my AC which isn't giving me any airflow. Thermostat clicks on, condenser fan & motor starts up, but no AC. (Also noticed icing on copper line outdoors.) Changed filter and AC worked for a day, then quit again. I've flushed condensation drain, even cleaned evap coils, but no luck. May try cleaning condenser coils, but think I've got a blower fan/electrical issue that I'm not comfy tinkering with. Regardless, without these vids I wouldn't have been brave enough to try any DIYs or halfway know what I was talking about lol, so thank you!!
Young man, you are a professional trainer in this field!!! I feel as if I can figure out what's wrong with my unit & repair it myself!!! Thank you for being so detail oriented in your explanations! New Subscriber here!
Alright, so, I actually took matters into my own hands & did the worky myself. My capacitor was swollen just like you described. I bought a new one for $50 & boom, my a/C is running again & getting cold. Thank you so much man! You are a godsend...
Wow. I cannot thank you enough. My AC was not working in the middle of summer in the California Desert. You Saved me the home warranty service fee plus any additional fees the AC company would have charged. Thank you x 10000!!!
