Cut PBJ some slack. Japanese words are nearly impossible to pronounce with their vowels always sounding the same no matter the context, and his channel is dedicated to an industry primarily connected to Japan. Why WOULD he or anyone else know how titans in the industry's names would sound like?
@@PaleVoyager Assuming that was all sarcasm, you're absolutely right (in that the opposite of what you said is right..... if that makes sense). Japanese pronunciation is really not that hard (especially the vowels.... I mean, it'd be one thing to use hard R's or to say Ryu as Ri-yu, but vowels? Come on), and it bugs the hell out of me how so many RUclipsrs, RUclipsrs whose entire focus is on anime and Japanese gaming no less, could continually botch it so horribly. It's all the worse in that these are meant to be informative videos, yet they can't even bother to put in a level of research as simple as "How do you pronounce Shigeru Miyamoto?"?
Only issue I ever had with the game is the lack of online co-cop. It's hard someone to get people to come over to play and people who do often times live no where near you. I can only hope they might add it to AoC in an update.
multiple times according to the devs. i recall one quote roughly, "each time we were adding a new character we always considered Groose, but ended up going with someone else."
As funny as it is, there might be a reason. There's a theory that it's like the compass from Pirate of the Caribbean - it doesn't point north, it points either to what the holder wants more than anything else (in Linkle's case, something that can prove she's a true hero) or maybe instead where that person needs to be (a place where she can _be_ a hero). The fact that the compass is magic but never fully explained might support that.
I happen to know that Linkle isn't the only female character in a Japanese game to be bad with directions as a gag, so it might just be a trope that we're unfamiliar with.
@@shadown64 Doesn't even call the 3DS version by the correct name, either. Says "Hyrule Warrriors: All-Stars", when the name is "Hyrule Warriors: Legends", and the Japanese version is called "Zelda Musou: Hyrule All-Stars".
I remember reading that the reason why they dismissed the sister archetype with Linkle and rejected the idea of her being Link's sister altogether, was because the idea conflicted with Aryll's standing as Link's sister. It's a pretty odd reason given that HW's Link is a different incarnation from TWW Link.
@@GabePuratekuta Because she was already in the game and Young Link has no story presence at all. Using Tatl would have conflicted with her being partnered with Skull Kid and Navi wouldn't have fit since she left at the end of Ocarina of Time.
They are all different Links and even though each should be different from game to game why can't we get some similarities besides the triforce and Master sward in most games? Giving Link family members more in the games could open the story and Link's charecter. Maby something like finding a cure for his sick sibling or parents Leeds him to uncover some evil plot.
@@TheOmegazerox Some aren't different Links, though. Like the Hero of Legend (A Link to the Past) inside a flying whale's dream (Link's Awakening) then saving two different regions from destruction (Oracle series).
@Sleepy I got into Zelda for games like Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. I know that Breath of the Wild was super popular, I played it and liked it well enough for what it was, but it's not why I signed up. I'm not happy that they didn't make Majora's Mask-type follow ups until after they already abandoned what made me like Zelda in the first place.
@@TheDarkFable When people talk about "Majora's Mask-style sequels", they're not necessarily taking the same tonal or mechanical direction that Majora did after Ocarina. All they mean is that you can use the same engine and assets to quickly make another game that gives a different spin on the ideas and concepts presented in that first game. For all we know, the "Majora's Mask-style sequel" to Twilight Princess would've been lighter and softer in tone than Twilight Princess. The point is, don't spend all this time and energy making this engine and these assets and abandon them after one entry.
@Sleepy I'm sure hoping you're right... but considering certain statements from Aonuma, the FROTHING from the playerbase that BotW generated after its release, and the reviewers that tripped over their goddamn selves giving the game a 10, I'm not exactly hopeful. We're going to be looking at non-linear open-world light-narrative loot-inspired Zelda games for a long ass time here. All I can actually hope for is for them to incorporate a few classic 3D elements (like actual dungeon items that actually let you go places and get things you simply couldn't before - you know, like you're actually progressing beyond a couple numbers going up) in with the Skyrim.
I still haven't bought Hyrule Warriors but it's the only game that I love without actually playing it. Just from looking at and hearing about it and seeing the love for the Zelda series makes me happy
I feel Nintendo could have totally had added Groose into the Switch version long with one more character or two, maybe add Din and Nayru from Oracles of Seasons/Ages, or add Beetle. But at the very least, Groose could have totally been added in, I mean Agitha was added so why not Groose also? I also don't get why Toon Link was not given the Picori Sword as a Minish Cap representation, or maybe add Vaati as a character along with Groose. I think is a real shame they didn't make a sequel to this game, but then again that may be mostly because they started development of Age of Calamity. If you think about it, One Piece has 4 Pirate Warrior games already, so they totally could continue expanding this game. (Btw i don't understand why PBG keeps calling it All-Stars instead of Legends, it's confusing...)
It's not up to Nintendo to add Groose in, that would have been on Koei-Tecmo. But given how little extra content Definitive Edition actually got, it's no surprise there were no new characters.
You know what’d be cool ideas for Musou games * A Sonic Warriors game set in the Archie Comics universe * A Warhammer 40K game set in the continuity of If The Emperor Had A Text-To-Speech Device * A Spongebob Warriors game.

There is a reference to The Minish Cap actually. Thr King of Red Lions fuses two Kinstones pieces together as his special when the green focus bar is depleted
Actually, I noticed this today. The Minish Cap is actually referenced with the King. He fuses a golden Kin Stone when going into focus spirit mode, referencing the golden kin stone that you fuse with the king's spirit in Minish Cap.
the game needs a proper sequel (aoc wasn´t as good as the definitive edition) imagen a new story with Link, Linkle and Shiek go on an adventure/mission with a small group of soliders and many new characters (like a wizard first beieing a soilder and become his own character, new Garon + Zora + Ruto/Watarara, no returning of the old ones) and locations (like a narrow stone valley between clifs with stone monsters attacking them, the sea, a cursed forest, an underground tunnelsytem, the city of hyrule and gerudo and more) would use the old maps as a mode as a legendcart (full definitive edition story) and would let the old playabile characters make to get when playing the legend cards would show this world Gorones, Zora + Zolas + Parellas (humanoid look) and Watarara (this world Ruto Counterpart as also their insperation) and Gerudos and Link has to watch Linkle not getting lost (running gag) and both have a sibling/fun like relationship and watch out for each other in battle, Zelda goes as Sheik to have free time from her royal duties (Sheik can use Zeldas Rapir as second weapon) Also a Versus Mode 1 vs 1 and Online 3 vs 3/ 4 vs 4 (everyone has his own screen, no splitsreen with 2 consoles) and my wish to give the commanders and attackleaders orders like demanding the generals (would make the the game perfect)
With how Nintendo treats Mario these days, I'd expect half the characters to be variations of Mario, and they'd only use characters from the NSMB series
How so? The movesets, I'm guessing? It's not really that big of a surprise since in Ultimate they play like they did in earlier Zelda games for the most part. In fact, Young Link's moveset is more similar to classic Smash Bros. Link than the current version of regular Link, who had his moves changed to be more like Breath of the Wild.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio Young Link would've been better off with a Majora's Mask design. Also he uses Adult Link's Bow and Hookshot which never used. And he gets Triforce Slash instead of Fierce Deity as a Final Smash.
Toon Link’s entire move set in Hyrule Warriors is just “how many different ways can we animate a spin attack” but I agree Young Link is much more interesting here than in Smash
@@nertholy3242 Young Link was only in Melee to pad out the roster, and was implemented at practically the last minute. Sakurai has stated multiple times that he doesn't like to completely overhaul Smash characters between games in order to not alienate fans who enjoyed the previous version. Hence why Ganondorf still has Falcon's moveset instead of playing similar to Ike. Given how Ultimate's development went, Young Link incorporating the masks was likely considered less important than the new engine, making all the new Battlefield stages, and working on the new characters.
If they ever make another game or possibly another zelda game that plays similar to hyrule warriors, they should do something where the story is focused on the different timelines, which are the defeated, the young, and the adult timelines and the story has a bit of brawls subspace emissary story where because of whatever is messing with the timelines the different links either somehow find a way into one another's timeline on accident or they were pulled because something happened, and it becomes this thing where you're seeing every link and/or possibly the side characters interacting with each other and just like subspace emissary, you're going through the different links or groups that are together and teaming up to see whats going on until somewhere near the ending where everyone meets up at one area to discuss and prepare to stop whatever it is. I think it'd be cool, but the story would need to be written well so it doesn't feel like it happens for no reason
I love how it's always Shigeru that saves these games, most of all spinoffs Nintendo approves, everyone tries to make it more like the original IP than their own thing
One thing I didn't hear much about before BotW released was how much the Zelda games during the WiiU's life were direct hints to future titles. Wind Waker and Twilight are so prevalent in BotW, Link's blue scarf in HW and then Link being blue in BotW. The push to have Marin in the 3DS game before the announcement of Links Awakening remake...
Those really aren't very good hints, other than Marin. Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are only sort of present in Breath of the Wild because of amiibo items and a reference to Medli. They don't even have Ordon, even just as a name for a wooded area.
I feel there are definitely some characters that should have been in the game. -Spirit Tracks getting Toon Zelda is awesome, but dang Byrne should’ve joined her -Minish Cap really should have gotten Vaati. -One of the OOT bosses would have been cool, like Twinrova -Want some more Twilight Princess?
@@YamatoFukkatsu *does a PeanutButterGamer impression* You know, Yamayto Fuckatsu, you make a good point.
at least we get a taste of Zelda month! thank u pbg
I love Volga. He's such a cool character. I also love being able to play as both forms of Midna (she is my fav LOZ character of all time).
Only issue I ever had with the game is the lack of online co-cop. It's hard someone to get people to come over to play and people who do often times live no where near you. I can only hope they might add it to AoC in an update.
Groose could have been in Hyrule Warriors. Let that sink in.
Fortunately, he wasn't.
multiple times according to the devs. i recall one quote roughly, "each time we were adding a new character we always considered Groose, but ended up going with someone else."
@@GabePuratekuta You spelt "Unfortunately" wrong.
@@vegetafan9922 No, you spelled "fortunately" wrong.
@@GabePuratekuta It's a joke
Dispite LITERALLY HAVING A COMPASS
O man I freaking died laughing
As funny as it is, there might be a reason. There's a theory that it's like the compass from Pirate of the Caribbean - it doesn't point north, it points either to what the holder wants more than anything else (in Linkle's case, something that can prove she's a true hero) or maybe instead where that person needs to be (a place where she can _be_ a hero). The fact that the compass is magic but never fully explained might support that.
I happen to know that Linkle isn't the only female character in a Japanese game to be bad with directions as a gag, so it might just be a trope that we're unfamiliar with.
@@gigastrike2 It's definitely a trope in anime so it kinda makes sense to be one in games.
I like the plot of 'a dance off between Darunia and Ghirahim followed by Linkle approaching a cursed Link who is actually Tingle' more.
I got an Age of Calamity ad right before the video started.
Hearing PBG at first really surprised me. This was such a cool video!
Yes! So hype for Age of Calamity! I love these videos, keep up the great work.
Look at Peebs giving us a Zelda Month video after all.
You know it's not a true Zelda video if PBG isn't covering it.
@Mr. Clean Of course it is. Link's inability to jump makes it so.
I don't know how much of a fan he is if he can't even pronounce Aonuma correctly...
@@shadown64 Doesn't even call the 3DS version by the correct name, either. Says "Hyrule Warrriors: All-Stars", when the name is "Hyrule Warriors: Legends", and the Japanese version is called "Zelda Musou: Hyrule All-Stars".
Either that or the Completionist for this one. Everybody here knows just how much he loves hating on HW's completionist criteria.
PBG in a Zelda video??? I feel like I’m in high school again, wowee.
Huge fan of BPG love his videos.👍
I remember reading that the reason why they dismissed the sister archetype with Linkle and rejected the idea of her being Link's sister altogether, was because the idea conflicted with Aryll's standing as Link's sister. It's a pretty odd reason given that HW's Link is a different incarnation from TWW Link.
I'm still a little confused on why Proxi is used for Young Link when he's never actually met her.
@@GabePuratekuta true but my point was just because ww Link has a sister no other Link can have one is a rather week reason to justify that logic.
I'm still pissed as hell that that Majora's Mask-style sequel to Twilight Princess never happened.
I'm not, Majoras mask was so edgy, twilight princess was already edgy. A Majora style edgy sequel to a edgy game would be too much
@@TheDarkFable When people talk about "Majora's Mask-style sequels", they're not necessarily taking the same tonal or mechanical direction that Majora did after Ocarina.
@@SuperfieldCrUn Precisely. Plus, "edgy" can be seen as subjective, and art can be molded in different ways.
Age of Calamity demo was suuuper fun. Now I’m interested in playing this game on the Switch (never had it for my 3DS).
Everyone please play Hyrule Warriors it is SO GOOD and there's SO MANY post-story challenges that are really hard and really rewarding
For those who are about to try this game for the very first time:
Play it with headphones. Max volume.
The biggest disgrace is not putting Groose in there. Seriously the Groose needed to be Loose!
This is the most of Zelda month that we’re getting this year
A-O-numa?
I had to love dancing Zelda at 7:25.
I still haven't bought Hyrule Warriors but it's the only game that I love without actually playing it. Just from looking at and hearing about it and seeing the love for the Zelda series makes me happy
"Hyrule Warriors" hmm maybe I'll watch it later
"PeanutButterGamer" *clicks on it so fast*
One of my favorite Wii U/3DS/Switch games with one of my favorite RUclipsrs?!?!? Hell yeah, boi!
Link pulling of some of Lana's moves gave me a chuckle. I had no idea Groose was considered only to be dropped, what a bummer.
I want a Final Fantasy Warriors game with every party member ever as a playable character.
That'll be too many Cids!
@@GabePuratekuta ALL THE CIDS!!!!!
It's surprising they haven't already especially since they did the Dissidia fighting game series before a Warriors game
@@UltimaXVI That's the only way I see them doing a Warriors-style game. As an entry in the Dissidia series.
PBG!!! I loved this game, I played it on the wiiu.
nice to hear peebs back on this channel doing a zelda video all is as it should be
0:18 Koei Techmo had already made -Nobunaga's Pokemon Ambition- Pokemon Conquest by that point though.
Four Swords Combo link would’ve been amazing
You know what’d be cool ideas for Musou games
* A Sonic Warriors game set in the Archie Comics universe
* A Warhammer 40K game set in the continuity of If The Emperor Had A Text-To-Speech Device
* A Spongebob Warriors game.
Final Fantasy
It would probably be based on the IDW comics, though. That's the most recent iteration of Sonic outside of games.
You mean I have my favorite anime to thank for the cross over I didn't know I wanted!? :D
I’m a simple man. I see PBG, I click
I said this in a Gamexplain vid and I'll say it again.
KIRBY WARRIORS PLZ!!!
I'd taka a Mario one as long as Daisy's taking out a bunch of enemies like the badass she is.
Nintendo just released “Smash, but all the characters are Kirby.” They need to do this with every series, especially “Warriors, but every character is Kirby.”
@@GabePuratekuta I too agree with that, as I feel like Mario can be thrown into anything after Kingdom Battle existed.
@gaming123456 True, its just a nice thought to have honestly
@@billcook4768 Kirby Fighters is neat, but it's still in the mainline modern Kirby engine. There have been rumors and leaked code from that game suggesting that they're working a fully 3D Kirby game, so we'll see how that goes
The fact that he was saying all stars instead of legends just triggered me...
Hearing Hyrule Warriors Legends consistently referred to by its Japanese subtitle the whole time makes it seem like this video's script was written before the 3DS version was localized which, wow, was a lot longer ago than it seems.
Aww man, a Majora's style Twilight Princess sequel? That would've been awesome!!!
There is a reference to The Minish Cap actually. Thr King of Red Lions fuses two Kinstones pieces together as his special when the green focus bar is depleted
The video keeps calling the 3DS version "Hyrule Warriors: All-Stars." Ya know it was called "Hyrule Warriors Legends" outside Japan, right?
Maybe they do have references to Minish Cap, but they're just too small to see.
The King of Hyrule's Focus Spirit Finisher has him fuse a Kinstone.
Actually, I noticed this today. The Minish Cap is actually referenced with the King. He fuses a golden Kin Stone when going into focus spirit mode, referencing the golden kin stone that you fuse with the king's spirit in Minish Cap.
There is actually another reference to the Oracle games: you can get Mystery Seeds as a food item to feed to your fairies.
the game needs a proper sequel (aoc wasn´t as good as the definitive edition)
imagen a new story with Link, Linkle and Shiek go on an adventure/mission with a small group of soliders and many new characters (like a wizard first beieing a soilder and become his own character, new Garon + Zora + Ruto/Watarara, no returning of the old ones) and locations (like a narrow stone valley between clifs with stone monsters attacking them, the sea, a cursed forest, an underground tunnelsytem, the city of hyrule and gerudo and more)
would use the old maps as a mode as a legendcart (full definitive edition story) and would let the old playabile characters make to get when playing the legend cards
would show this world Gorones, Zora + Zolas + Parellas (humanoid look) and Watarara (this world Ruto Counterpart as also their insperation) and Gerudos and
Link has to watch Linkle not getting lost (running gag) and both have a sibling/fun like relationship and watch out for each other in battle, Zelda goes as Sheik to have free time from her royal duties (Sheik can use Zeldas Rapir as second weapon)
Also a Versus Mode 1 vs 1 and Online 3 vs 3/ 4 vs 4 (everyone has his own screen, no splitsreen with 2 consoles)
and my wish to give the commanders and attackleaders orders like demanding the generals (would make the the game perfect)
Linkle: East!? I thought you said Weast!
Ehh we shoulda got a Mario warriors where you destroy hordes upon hordes of goombas
I would play the heck outta that game!
With how Nintendo treats Mario these days, I'd expect half the characters to be variations of Mario, and they'd only use characters from the NSMB series
A Sonic version would make more sense in my opinion. The series is much more action based and doesn't rely on jumping to kill most of the enemies.
@@jlev1028 That or an HD, 3d sequel/remake of Sonic Battle.
Smash Bros Musou would be amazing!
Sucks that Young/Toon Link has better representation in this game and not Smash Ultimate.
I agree, I thought Young Link was gonna have a Majoras mask or OoT reference but nope
I've made my peace with it
But I'm still salty my boy Groose was passed over. He'd have made more sense than Agatha
I'm so mad Groose never made it in
Skyward sword deserved more representation
I love how it's always Shigeru that saves these games, most of all spinoffs Nintendo approves, everyone tries to make it more like the original IP than their own thing
Maaaan I can't believe we just barely missed Groose
Didn't think it was worth it to get Peebs to pronounce Aonuma's name correctly? It's alright, he only says it like twenty times in the video...
legends...
5:27 "Hello, I'm a dragon"
"I'm over here now, eh hee hee!"
Great video! Can't wait for that Pokemon Gray video.
I wanna play that original game they pitched
"Ghirahim would present..."
WHY DID I LAUGH SO HARD AT THIS?! 🤣
I feel there are definitely some characters that should have been in the game.
-Spirit Tracks getting Toon Zelda is awesome, but dang Byrne should’ve joined her
-Minish Cap really should have gotten Vaati.
-One of the OOT bosses would have been cool, like Twinrova
-Want some more Twilight Princess? Bring in the Hero’s Shade!
-Link to the Past should’ve been here, give us Agahnim!
-Justice for Groose
-WHERE. IS. LINEBECK?
-Why not a meta one, the Old Man lmao
Hyrule Warriors is such a fantastic game and has the most content of any game I’ve ever played. It’s a shame Groose wasn’t added when characters like Ruto or Agitha got in, SS was underrepresented.
I love musou games but man Hyrule Warriors is the best musou game ever
Also, during the age of the Wii U Nintendo started opening up their intellectual properties looking for third party collaborations. There were collaborations such as Donkey Kong in Skylanders, Nintendo outfits in Monster Hunter amongst others.
Good timing for this video. Still haven't played it, been thinking about it though.
