Absolute pleasure working with you!
Glad to see you moving up.I love your content!
You are the Indiana Jones of Zelda lore.
Get a new mic
I was wondering yesterday if you ever did a video for this channel guess I was right just didnt know it hadn't come out yet
Ah yes, my favorite Zelda class teacher
Aonuma really does his best when it come to pleasing Zelda fans, stay strong Aonuma, we appreciate everything you do.
Yes.
Pleasing Zelda fans good one lol.
@@Chelaxim he doesn't please the entitled ones it seems
We are hard to please lmao
And don't listen to Miyamoto
My first thought of Charles Martinet voicing Link wasn’t a good one, but then I remembered he voiced Parthunaxx on Skyrim, and that is an incredible bit of range from Mario.
I think it would work if he voiced an older Link
And the Homunculus from Shadow of Destiny.
Don't you mean Marry-o?
I mean, after all, nobody can pronounce his name right when it's regularly ferking said in the games. It's not like everyone says 'Mah-rio' or anything.
He also played an amazing character in Resonance of Fate, the mans variety is incredible.

A Tingle horror game would have been terrifying, you have to admit.
Tingle discovers actual fairies and sees in horror how ugly he is compared to them: devoid of magic and majesty.
Tingle decides to murder the fairies.
in a dark, quiet mansion you hear "kooooloooo liiiiiimpaaaahhhh"

Aonuma shouldn't feel bad about his decisions with Majora's Mask. His younger self clearly was very passionate and a lot of the stuff in game took inspiration from the experiences he was living through at the time.
Plus most of the changes they made in the 3ds release are for the worse
@@joshuab3199 that really is true, there's a fantastic video on it by Nerrel who really goes into detail about the issues of the remake and why the original Majora's Mask is so important as a game in the series
It was for a long time my favorite, until breath of the wild surpassed it. I'm really going that BotW 2 has a similar dark atmosphere that Majora's Mask has.

Eiji Aonuma: Look guys I was in a dark place when I created Majora's Mask, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, but Rosy Rupeeland is not Japanese exclusive. It was released in Europe in 2007 (you guys even used the European box art). The sequel to this game is the one that is Japanese exclusive.
I remember Nintendo of America actually held a poll on their official forums back in 2007 or so asking players if they'd be interested in seeing the game brought to North America. The results leaned more in favor of players saying "no" so NoA never brought it over. The original DS was region free so importing a copy from Europe was still possible but it's interesting that this is one of the few times NoA actually asked players if they'd be interested in something being localized. I assume the big reason why the poll ended with "no" as the winner is because Tingle's reputation in the West was still at something of an all time high and American players at the time were like "hell no, fuck that guy!"
@@BloodRedFox2008 Fortunately the DS was region free. I actually own a European copy of it. It wasn't a good game, but I bought it in Europe for less than 10 Euros and sold it used a few years later for over 5 times that :)

Hacking into N64 games will probably become a history that will be taught in schools 100 years from now.
Less than 100 years, honestly.
THIS VIDEO GIVES ME LIFE!!!!! It makes me want to replay the games. It's crazy how many changes were made, Miyamoto sounds like quite the character. It's probably what makes him a genius.
Baffling to me how Americans hate Tingle, a strange, lonely, pink nosed man with an affinity for dancing. Yet will also advocate for characters like Waluigi, a strange, lonely, pink nosed man with an affinity for dancing, to get into Smash and stuff.
Its the leotard
Americans just go with the flow.its sad. But there is love for tingle
PutnamentalAnimation As an American It’s become very noticeable that characters meant for levity are usually met with hate when placed in more serious franchises.
Probably because Tingle is presented as cute, while Waluigi is obviously evil.
Tingle gives off the impression that he would sneak into your house, steal your kids, and lie about it. Waluigi gives off the impression that he would sneak into your house, steal your kids, and admit to it. The admittance means he’d go down in a court of law easily. Tingle, we’d have to fight and may not win, and that’s scary.

It's unfortunate that Miyamoto requested that change in TP, one of my biggest problems with the game is its slow beginning which makes replaying a bit of a chore sometimes.
Yeah, I thought that part was a bit funny. To my knowledge, one of the most common criticisms of TP is that the opening part takes way too long.
The reasoning does make since though, but it became out dated once people replayed the game and got used to the wii. I feel like they should have added a "are you confident in the game's controls" choice at the beginning that would change the start to only 1 day if you clicked yes.
@@IzzySarru well, the village is only a part of the opening act. There's still more to the opening that makes it drag beyond it.
Interestingly, I disagree with this criticism, but I knew someone would bring it up in the comments. I actually like the time we get to spend with Link's character and the people that look up to him. And Ordon Village is just a charming little area. Of course I do still like it better once you're out in the world and taking on dungeons, but I also like the opening just fine. But I'm probably biased since it's my favorite game.
ive always really loved the opening though :(
YOOO MY BOY ZELTIK!!!!
hELL YEAH
I really like that bit about Ganondorf and the floating island, it does seem pretty plausible. Judging by that and Link's arm from the trailer, it looks like they may be using a lot of stuff cut from the original game.
Zelda trivia: In Super Smash Bros for the Wii U, a loading screen tip says there are five Zelda games with "Link" in the title. However, there are actually six: Adventure of Link, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Link Between Worlds, Link's Crossbow Training, and Link and the Faces of Evil. Apparently, Nintendo doesn't count one of those.
I wonder which one it is 🤔 but seriously, Nintendo doesn't acknowledge the CD-I games because they where never suppose to be made.
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 You're crazy! Clearly it's Crossbow training.
I just don't think they know how to count
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 if I remember correctly, Nintendo opposed CD-i games, but couldn't do anything to stop Philips from publishing them since they had already signed a deal with Philips. I could be wrong though.
@@shn4449 that's basically what happened.
"Miyamoto is always right"
Yeah, tell that to Star Fox Zero...
Or when he didnt want an orchestral score for Mario Galaxy
@@8Kazuja8 When it comes to reviving old franchises. More than often the original team members pitch the concept.
If we're talking Metroid, Kid Icarus and Wario Land. Why these games barely got an latest entries is because R&D1 members are positioned elsewhere or no longer at Nintendo.
Miyamoto being head of R&D4. So when he's asked about reviving IPs. He's not the right guy for it.
Or DMA Design.
Or Argonaut Software.
Also, "Link should stay a silent protagonist" is just stupid.
Don't forget Virtual Boy, shafting EU devs and making their consoles difficult for third party devs to work with up until the Switch which still has the pointlessly absurdly expensive peripheral game hardware like they did with the N64 carts and backwards-spinning Gamecube discs.
@@caseypenk I never said that his impact on gaming is nothing short of amazing, just look at his resume.
However, that doesn't mean he is perfect or cannot be criticized; I find that he sometimes focuses too much on how innovative the experience is vs how to make the experience more enjoyable. Again, I'm a Nintendo fanboy and the dude is my hero, but he certainly has made some mistakes in his career.
I feel like Aonuma repeatedly saves the Zelda series from Miyamoto
george persaud He does. Miyamoto is a hack who ruins every game he touches
Unfortunately probably true. Miyamoto likes to mess things up late in development because he suddenly had an idea he wants to see realized. He's just become that eccentric "ideas guy" that every company has, but has too much pull and power.
@@ForeverLaxx Like when he told Rare to change their game to an Starfox one, or when he didnt want orchestra for Mario Galaxy
@@NombreGenerico89TF2 That was a suggestion by him, not him forcing Rare to change it. Rare went with it because it would get their game recognized, and they wanted to work on a Star Fox game. It would have been all fine and dandy, if not for Microsoft planning to buy out Rare, forcing them to rush and "complete" on making the game, before the buy out.
@@byronlyons3548 Yes but "suggestions" from a higher up usually mean "do it or you will be punished in some way" especially in a society like Japan where your elders are respected so much
I love that this channel is still around, same style and all. I appreciate you guys a lot thank you
Damn, Aonuma really thought he was messed up when remaking Majora's Mask when it's regarded as debatablely the best game in the series.
After all these years we finally have an explanation for TP’s overly long tutorial phase (Ordon village). Thanks!
Nooo Aonuma, Majora's Mask was perfect you didn't need to change it like that :(
Some changes made sense, like the saving system and the more user-friendly time travelling. However, a lot of things got worse in the remake, such as swimming, and many bosses. For bosses, best case scenario is that they are essentially the same (like Goht). The ones that were changed all got worse. Even Gyorg, they replaced one annoying battle with another annoying battle, except the new one is longer.
Pretty much this. The 3DS remake is god awful and you're ruining the experience for yourself if you aren't using the new majora mask 3D restoration hack. All they had to was keep it faithful like what they did with ocarina of time
In defense of Aonuma, when you get the chance to improve something you made youd want to do it. Its unfortunate his improvements were hit or miss, but thats now hindsight.
@@servantrider7044 It really was a George Lucas thing. There were (yes, there really were) some good changes like Cloud City, but most of them are questionable.
@@19Szabolcs91 Honestly the new saving system removed a big aspect of what made Majora's Mask unique, which is time management. Now it doesn't matter because you can save scum a lot of stuff and avoid being punished by the timer, which yeah, it's "better" for casual players, but they should've at least made a "classic mode".
7:32 This makes me want to see a sort of flashback sequence, or time travel in BotW 2 that would allow us to see what Link's life would be like in Hateno Village, and to see how Link's family and his sister react to seeing Link being defeated.
They were probably dead by that point, since they moved to the castle village
2 videos from Zeltik in the same day! By far best day in 2020 so far.
Just to correct something : Rosee Rupeeland isn't "Japan only", it was released in Europe (I have a french copy)
I... actually knew about the sign thing in TP as a kid lol
I loved destroying things and basically being a nuisance in games, so of course when I broke a sign, I would think "I'll make it hard for them to fix it if they can't find the pieces" and threw them in the town lake.
I remember being surprised by how the pieces floated in the water and could be nudged when you swam next to/against them
"Of course Mr. Miyamoto is always right! The way it works right now is the way it is supposed to be." What a wholesome response. Charles is amazing.
Having met the man briefly at a convention, that response doesn't surprise me at all. Very cheerful and happy man

So great to see Zeltik on this channel! And wow, I didn’t realize Miyamoto is pretty much nuts haha I bet it gets reallll stressful working with him
The game (MM) does mention that you're being marked with your bank account. I think the banker even says it's a special ink that only he can see. I always understood this to be the reason why you keep all your bank money when you go back in time, so really nothing was cut here.

Glad to hear Vanpool get the mention, I will shill the ex-Love-de-Lic teams to no end.
I really appreciate that you guys have been very consistent with latest uploads, makes all this quarantine mess a little better. Thank you guys, keep it up!
those cdi voicelines for cleaning a dirty disk are actually used in the games! or well, at least the zelda voiceline is.
in their playthrough, game grumps was fighting ganon at some point, and upon defeating them the game paused and zelda said "hey, i think your disk is dirty!" etc. and skips the cutscene after defeating him
Those Zelda CDi audio warnings actually aren't unused.
I have badly scratched up copies of both games. When it attempts to load something (world map, stage, animation, etc) and fails, it plays that audio and then lets you continue to try again.
This really feels like a secret Zeltik video and that's pretty awesome.
Literally the only thing I had to look up for the main story of Twilight Princess was the final boss fight. I had.. forgotten how to throw Ganon when he charged.. since it was explained when you tossed the ram-like critters in your starting village and I had forgotten the controls... O.o
Just when you thought you knew all there is to know. More pops up. Innovative and futuristic features far ahead of the N64's time. Impressive.
On the topic of Miyamoto upending the tea table and Kyogoku Aya's writing, this phrasing originates from The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures, which had an entirely different story and included the Master Sword, the Triforce, and the Sacred Realm, among other more traditional Zelda symbols, perhaps serving as a prequel to A Link to the Past, though Miyamoto came in and "upended the tea table," as Aonuma describes it, and told the team to use a simpler story, likely leading the game to become a Four Swords title despite not being developed by the Capcop developers of both other Four Swords games: The Minish Cap, which began development in 2001 but was put on hold for development on Four Swords and then resumed, and Four Swords.

"The commands are in Japanese" saying the word milk gives you more milk lol
I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume they mean saying the japanse word for milk "Gyūnyū" would give more milk.

Butters if he real
This is like the perfect video for me. I use both Did You Know Gaming and Zeltik to help me get to sleep. This is like combining 2 great things and making something greater.
I don’t think the English and Japanese dialogue about calamity ganon necessarily contradict. To me it sounds like “reincarnation” refers to him becoming fleshy, like his pig monster form or ganondorf. In BOTW, he’s still obsessed with his own revival, but has given up even attempting to become one of his old reincarnations and instead assumed a form of pure rage.
Yeah, I had the same conclusion. He hasn't given up on reincarnating, just on this immediate regeneration (what he was trying before Link arrived,) and has decided "Fuck it, giant jello pig time."
Though the wording is vague enough that I can see why some would reach that conclusion. I did at first.
ShadowVincent3 Yeah! He’s just like “I give up”. I think they could really run with the idea in BOTW 2 and make a point that calamity ganon won’t be back for a long time bc that was everything he could muster to revive himself, or maybe make the point that it took a lot of effort to become ganondorf and that’s why he gave up trying to reincarnate, it just wasn’t worth it.
Zeltik and DYKG Zelda facts, heck yes I'm here for it! 💚
BOTW should've had Link speak IMO.
This is the first time he's actually referred to as "Link" in-game and not a random MC name, so it would make the most sense.
As much as I love Martinet, my choice of VA for Link would be Yuri Lowenthal.

9:16 Zelda's warning for the dirty disc actually happens to the Game Grumps at one point. Awesome to know that Link has one as well, but not so awesome for it to happen to anyone playing the CD-i games lol.
Thank you for not having a weirdo saying "Ocariner" in this video.
The Ordin village thing makes sense. That part felt so tacked on and padded
A Tingle horror game?
Maybe if Tingle was the antagonist of that game, we could appreciate him a little more
Aonuma isn't really that old, he's only 57, a few years older than my dad. He makes it sound like he's my grandparents age or something. 😂
The reincarnation in BotW pinot refers to Ganon's attempt to create a new body before facing Link. The picture of Ganon in the castle states that this form was incomplete due to Link's early arrival to the castle. It was not reflective of the overall cycle, which this meaning wasn't carried over into English.
The "your disc is dirty" warning isn't unused. If you own the disc, is very possible. It happened in Game grumps' Wand of Gamelon playthrough. As someone mentioned before, you can't get those warnings if you're emulating the games.
That sound clip for the cdi games aren't unused. Game grumps had this clip play along with a message stating the disc might be dirty when they played wand of gamelon, This was during the episode when they fought Ganon.
There's a theory that link mother was gerudo since when he wears the champion's tunic his arms carries gerudo patterns
The Tingle horror game didn't mysteriously get cancelled. The development team has mentioned that the game changed more and more as they worked on it, and somehow it evolved into Dillon's Rolling Western.
Yoo, I remember when Zeltik was just a wee channel. Congrats on the DYKG gig, sir!
So Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland actually got a European as well, but the spiritual sequel Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love is indeed Japan-exclusive.
hey remember that time DYKG did an entire episode that was just an ad?
9:19 after all these yeas we now have brand new canonical "poopable" content.
Ganondorf ripping the castle up and putting it back into the sky would be fucking epic
That line about Ganon isn't a contradiction. Revival and reincarnation are very different, and he can both give up on reincarnation and still cling to revival.
I think that's very cool. Ganon is basically so tired of doing the same song and dance every time that he's just given up on being a schemer, and instead is just a force of evil now.
9:19 Oh god, the retroactive YTPs! That could have been used so much!
You do an amazing job with these videos! I've never heard any of these facts before, keep up the great work!
I'd love to know what Charles Martine's Link would sound like.
Did you know if you wear headphones inside the windmill in Kakariko Village (Ocarina of Time), as the Windmill spins, so does the audio from Left to Right ear back and forth. Cool audio detail from 1998.
Goods is being so long since I saw any new videos from this channel I almost cry when I saw it.
I can never get enough of theses facts
I dunno if those audio warnings that the game disk might be dirty went unused...
At the very least, in the final episode of the Game Grump's playthrough of Wand of Gamelon, they got an error saying that the disk is dirty.
See : ruclips.net/video/TvSceFJEfJk/видео.htmlm10s
Before the video starts: oooh, a Zelda did you know gaming cool
10 seconds later when the video starts: ZELTIK!!!!!
Miyamoto likes to upend the tea table. Yes. A Link to the Past was originally a Final Fantasy style JRPG, but was completely upended about 90% through into what we know now.
I really gotta thank DYKG for making these videos, they make the workday go by quick!👍
Wait, the Wand of Gamelon does have the disk is dirty message from Zelda. It popped up in the Game Grumps playthrough twice. So that is incorrect that it's Unused
HOLY SHIT. A "Did you know" video that ACTUALLY HAD SOME THINGS EVERYONE DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW. I had no idea they almost made a Tingle Horror game hahaha.
Considering how Dimitri completely flipped his lid at the Flame Emperor reveal and then became hellbent on killing Edelgard due to being convinced she was behind the Tragedy of Duscur, I’m not entirely sure tbh.
Also, I entirely commend the TP team for having the game come out as stellar as it did despite their development issues.
9:10
Didn't disc is dirty error happen in Game Grumps playthrough of Wand of Gamelon? I don't think it went unused in that games case
Were they playing on an actual phillips CDI or was it a emulated copy, cause somethings emulated copies get any removed content "restored" but the person who pulled the ROM.
@@TheDarkFable they used an actual system, they even were using the presentation controller at first cuz that's what they had.
That concept art of BOTW is key for the sequel I guess, even more now that we've seen the E3 teaser
Oh Miyamoto please use Dark Link again, there are so many possibilities and it's such a cool concept I want to see used again and re-explored, he could have just as much or even MORE depth than other villains like Vaati or Zant!
It just amazing how things just keep coming about Zelda that we didn't know.
the hand mark is how the bank is explained to work in-game, though, he says "Let me stamp you with my special ink. [...] There! Now I'll know you when I see you!"
It's an odd way for a bank to work, but very convenient for a time traveler with a strangely selective ability to carry things back in time.
This wasn't mentioned in the video, but DID YOU KNOW; that in the Japanese version of BoTW, all of the dialogue for main quests, side quests, and shine quests are from the perspective of Link. This makes it super interesting because once you remember all of your memories, his motivation to save Zelda is much more meaningful.
However, they decided to change this in the English version so that it's from a 3rd or 2nd person perspective. I think we missed out on some huge details because of the localization.
