Great build. I'm currently LVL 12 in act 3 tactician with Minthara as a pure paladin. I might have to try this out. I'd love to see some videos where you take these builds for a spin and walk through some actual battles in-game. Cheers.
Awesome build. Paladin+assassin is a great combo. To get truly crazy, you can do 6 SB, 4 assassin, 2 paladin. I have a half orc durge in honour mode with that build. 2 fighting styles, 2 feats, expertise in 4 skills, level 4 smites, minor illusion to group enemies for melee slashing flourish... Is ridiculously powerful but doesn't come online until late
I use a build not so far from you but using Dual wielding. Paladin 9/rogue , using Shar's spear of evening (and another weapon of your choice) for its bonus damage when obscured, the ring that gives bonus damage when obscured and the cloak creating a fog cloud when you disengage. As a rogue you can disengage as a bonus action and you'll have 2 bonus action. Shar's spear also creates a darkness area with its weapon actions and you will overall deal huge damage while perma blinding ennemies and use Sentinel to keep ennemies in the fog/darkness area. I really recommand this build for those who cannot bear Lady Aylin's acting performance.
This is basically my favorite build I've been using for a while . Glad to see someone show this build it's really awsome . I definitely go all in on dex mine ends at 22 and dual weild . My AC runs about 25 down to 23 depending. And using the cloak of displacement make you almost untouchable. And the phalanar aluve long sword is bad ass . I did 3 lvl assassin 3 lvl gloom stalker and 5 lvl vengeance pal and 1 lvl war cleric for bonus action attack .
Hey, just wanted to thank you for all the awesome builds! Idk if your still taking build requests, but I got one I've been working on. Since most builds in bg3 are powerful enough, I wanted a Tav that could be a skill monkey, even at the cost of combat efficiency. The easiest way to do this would be githyanki, urchin, knowledge cleric 4, skilled feat. But idk about the stat spread on that. I guess the idea would be to take all the skills a Tav would need that they don't get assistance on from the party, keeping in mind dialog saving throw proficiency, and build the character around that. Sort of making a person who directs the story rather than just takes whatever they can get away with.
The Sword of Life Stealing you can buy from Dammon if he makes it to the Last Light Inn. When you deal a critical hit, you add a flat 10 Necrotic damage to the attack, and you get 10 temporary HP as a bonus. The temp hp won't stack, but you can use that sword to gain 50 or so extra free damage during your first Surprise round with this character.
just got minthara to 9, and let me say i've taken this build and changed it a little so Minthara's a Thief rogue -- using the double bonus action to buff up Lae'zel (Paladin) and herself for max crit dice! super good!!
For my most recent run, I did something similar, being an Arcane Trickster Rogue with 2 levels in Devotion Paladin. That way, I could Smite with my Arcane Trickster Spell Slots and do massive damage then. Honestly one of my fav character builds
Another lovely build. I do like the sneak attacks. Just be aware that getting Ethel's hair will break your Paladins' oath, so let someone else dialogue with her.
This is very similar to my favorite build with Minthara. I Class her as an 8/4 Vengance paladin/Assassin. For feats I go for Great weapon master, Savage attacker, and ASI. I use Phalar Aluve two handed to perform Great weapon master boosted Sneak attacks. Savage attacker benefits smites, but not sneak attacks unfortunately. Ability score is a filler feat but extra dex is very nice. Though you don't need it you will rarely be in combat for long so graceful cloth is a fantastic armor. Alert, sentinel, and Sharpshooter are all incredible options. you could add one level in either direction if you don't need the third feat. The dead shot, Shade slayer cloak, and shrouded ring are all great options for additional gear to increase crit rate to roughly 30% while hiding. elixer of bloodlust provides the most value in my opinion but elixer of viciousness will allow you to score critical hits from stealth more often than not (rougly 50% while hiding).

18:12 at this point, would thief rogue be more flexible for longer combats or combats that do not allow you to surprise enemies? Since this is around level 8, a lot of boss enemies with the alert feat and enemies in highly populated areas have started to appear, which basically eliminates the assassin rogue’s primary benefit which are crits against surprised enemies. Thief would allow four smites per turn, or three smites and a bonus action hide/dash/disengage. The immediate turn one damage would be much lower of course, but the fast hands perk is really good for mobility too, which is something paladins can struggle with due to being mostly melee.
Considering the fact that you're going to grab the Protection Aura anyway at level 6, wouldn't it be better to go for 16 CHA, 14 CON since you get that CON saving throw point back and can distribute it to the rest of the party as well as your other skills on top of that?
