The Jaguar C-X75 should have been Jaguar's entry in to the hypercar world. Instead it was killed early in its development. There are five prototype C-X75s still doing the rounds, only 40 people have had a go in them and Alex is one of them.

I feel like this car is that one girl you fall in love with at first sight but never see her again. Stop breaking my heart Jaguar!
It's the girl you say is the one but she's gone before things never get the chance to kick off.😔
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks I do not understand, I'm not very aware, what happened? They no longer manufacture it? Are not these cars manufactured anymore?
@@adanz9576 did you even watch the video? he explained all of it
You've just summarized my teenage love life :(
The one girl who bewitches you with a single look.
This might be one of the biggest blunders of the auto industry... Nearly every hyper/ super cars have been sold out so there is an market for them. Jaguar had the chance to be one of the first in the game but walked away....
Kevin Cranston Yep... True... It's a shame!
A before consonants, an before vowels.
Go finish first grade english.
"an market" wtf..
jag lost a ton of money on the XJ220 and on the XJR15. this was the right call. $900k was too much. had they been able to make it for $250k, then sure.
@@mrrolandlawrence halo cars aren't meant to be profitable, they're meant to attract people to the brand
@@bucketslash11 still is costly...
I want a Jaguar that has the balls to put this car into production. This is stunning, and is pushing the tech further than most others. This is way cooler than any McLaren or Ferrari.
Way cooler than a McLaren yes. Ferrari? No. Ferraris are gorgeous too. But, Jag, they have an X factor to die for.
@@miyahtallulah I'm sorry but the jag has to win, look at this beast, and imagine this is 2010 technology
@@miyahtallulah Unfortunately, Ferraris may look cool on the outside, but the insides are pretty cheap and poorly built, and you can’t push them hard on the track without something breaking.
Much more beautiful than the 918, La Ferarri, and P1. It's ashame they never produced it.
I am sorry to say that La Ferrari is plain art.
Subjective comment is being subjective
@@Ms123kill Of course, it`s not like it`s just as fast as a P1 or a 918 or anything
I'd say the 918, P1, and LaF are all gorgeous too along with the CX75.
@@afrog2666 it actually is sadly it was never produced
Given the fact that the runs of LaFerrari and P1 are already sold out, and the 918 more than half, I'd say Jag was mistaken in their evaluation of the potential market. Especially when you consider how good this car looks and it's lower, if only slightly, price when compared to the other three hybrid-electric hyper cars it would have competed with. I could never in my wildest dreams ever have afforded the C-X75, but it's an utter shame it will never be sold.
This is one of the most tragic automotive histories ever.... I so wished they put it into production. Two versions please, one with the 1.6 litre engine and one with the jets.
***** seems like jaguar forgot that this car would've had a halo effect on the brand, getting more customers to them because of the C-X75 (just like the what the LFA did for lexus)
Sexiest Jag since the XJ220 and prior to that of course the E-Type. There have been a slew of great looking Jags in the back catalogues. But this one... oh man.
Big mistake for Jaguar not to produce this car, even in very limited numbers. Porsche didn't hesitate to build the 918 ...
+Beryl Green Agreed!
+dead miner mu
If I was allowed to and could afford to I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Even if it meant having to starve myself and live in a cardboard box for the next 10+ years and Im not exaggerating either lol.
+ITsIMP0RT4NT you are exaggerating. If you could buy it if they put it into production nobody would be that hyped about it.
Totally agree. Regardless of the price, any they made would have been snapped up fast.
It's a shame they didn't put it into production. Maybe the success of the 918, LaFerrari and P1 will make Jaguar rethink their decision.
It's probably too late. Jaguar missed out on being the pioneer in the hybrid hypercar.
+Lukec4ge so true.
Or perhaps the opposite; the fact that it's been behind closed doors for so long would make it more desireable.
LaFerrari, P1, 918 and the c-x75. Hybrids done fucking right.
Don't forget about the 2016 Honda NSX
Brandon Miller Not in the same league, don't be naive.
Now theres also the koenigsegg regera and bugatti are planning to make a hybrid
Personally, i would rather have this in my garage than p1
The only thing that would stop me from buying one would be Mr Horacio Pagani and the car with the unpronounceable name. Well, and about a million quid. And a driving license.
@MJ Mail idk I like the p1
Jaguar don't believe in their self´s... what a shame!
there must be something more to it than that.
It was about the economy crisis
How can it sound so evil with a 1.6l engine?
+VentoRdrummeR Even better question: How can it sound so evil with a 1.6l engine, when the freaking F1 cars with very similar engines sound like broken vacuum cleaners?! I mean, it's F1 for christs sake! It would be like Ferrari taking their V10 F1 and then producing a road car with similar style V10 engine and make it sound much better. It shouldn't be possible!!
+Daniel Kemnitz The basic engine of the C-X75 was originally developed by Cosworth for F1 (the initial regulations for 2014 mandated a 1.6L I4 instead of the V6 we have now).
In F1 the regulations regarding the exhaust and wastegate are very strict to prevent exhaust blowing of the diffuser, which has negatively affected the sound (next year should be better, because the wastegate will get a separate exhaust ). They also have a motor generator unit recovering energy from the exhaust stream to charge up the batteries and to spool up the turbo. This further muffles the sound. In return the current F1 engines do not have turbo lag, produce 850+ hp from very little fuel, and are more thermally efficient than any petrol-powered road car today (including cars like the Toyota Prius).
+VentoRdrummeR How many litres does the newest F1 Turbo engines have? This also has electric motors. Coincidence? Mind you, this car was built alongside they're F1 team.
+VentoRdrummeR listen to the i8, the same
how can it sound soo evil? simple...
sounds and revs like a superbike engine!
They should really make this car!
Yes. It would be a gift to car world. VAG still made it. I think McLaren is losing money on the P1. Lexus lost on the LFA. But they still made them.
ianiva I really don't think McLaren is losing much on the P1 their monocoque and motor is based on the 12c so most engineering and testing has already been done regardless jag definatly should make and they have something different and special with this and with 200 examples would sell
ianiva Yes Lexus and Volkswagen lost money because of their respective projects, but thats because they can afford it, Lexus is owned by Toyota and Volkswagen owns a ridiculous amount of car companies, both these can take those loses without even feeling it. Jaguar on the other hand is run by Tata, and while they are a very wealthy company, they are no where near Volkswagen. Tata's acquisition of Jaguar Land Rover was also quite recent, so they start up the smaller projects first to see if the brand can turn a decent profit for the company. Plus, there are a lot of new projects and products that Jag is putting out right now, including the F-Type and the new aluminium chassis that they'll be implementing on the XJ, XF and XE. With all these projects, it might just be possible that Jaguar doesn't have the time or resources left for the C-X75. Too bad as well, out of all of this generations hypercars (918, P1, LaFerrari), I'd say the C-X75 is the most beautiful and most technologically advanced out of all of them. Shame.
918 is a Hypercar, it's the 918 RSR That's the hypercar
Matthew Wibisono Well said mate.
A gamble that have should have been made...
It could have killed jaguar though
Russell No it wouldn't have. It could have easily been a made to order vehicle. At the time they wasted more money on those long ass luxury saloons which lost out significantly to Mercedes and the other Germans luxury cars.
+Themayseffect I don't think he market was large enough for Jaguar to produce these cars, the would have lost a lot of money. Especially when Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren all produced a hyper hybrid at the same time.
Jag need to bring this into production the 918 the P12 and the La Ferrari have shown Hyper cars have a market
But if those brands make a loss, they can recover from it but jaguar could'nt. so maybe in a few years time
Russell non of those brands have made a loss on those cars which shows there is a market also most are sold before the release date. Also Jag has a very strong executive range now
logical fruit Mclaren, loses money on every P1. They are million dollar plus marketing tools. I dont know about the others.

This twincharged massive boost engine paradigm is probably my favorite ever.
please bring it on, best looking Jaguar ever
I personally think this car is stunning, better looking than the P1, La Ferrari or the 918. Not only does it have the looks, it also has the ability to keep right up there with them in performance.
Not going into production with this was a big mistake for Jaguar in my opinion, while they are making some good/great cars at the moment, this car had it made production could well have become another legendary car for Jaguar, sitting right up there with the D Type for performance (mid 1950s - 179mph) and the show stopping E Type for looks.
Jaguar, you should be ashamed of yourselves for denying the world such a work of automotive art!
Rumor mill has it that this car will star as the bad guys transport in the next Bond movie. Who knows maybe with that sort of exposure they might actually see the light and produce a production version.
***** It's so difficult to remain subjective when you see something so stunning and production ready simply doing nothing. I totally agree the Aerovette for 1976 was a stunning design and still holds up today!
Jaguar manage to drop the ball AGAIN. Their history of creating incredible cars and then NOT making them is a legend in itself...
Such a shame they'll never make it, it looks fantastic and has the speed and technology to hang with the best of them.e
this design, is literally top 2 of actually drivable cars I have ever seen. basically it is perfection aesthetically. WHYYYY did you not put this out Jag
This car was way ahead of its time, that's why we never got to see it going round the corners on a famous racetrack. Hope Jaguar comes up with some hypercar in future.....loved it!
Wow, I don't have to pay to watch this!
this video made me sad, such a beautiful car will never make it to production
Just discovered XCar…….just want to share my appreciation for a fantastic film about a wonderful car that should be locking horns with the P1, LaFerrari and 918. Your channel is bowel-shatteringly brilliant, keep up the good work guys, cheers!
Dear Jaguar CEO,
you've done a beautiful, timeless Supercar! Amazing look, great engine sound and great performance!
it's also economic, thanks to the hybrid system! :-)
Soo... My question is:
WHY DID YOU CANCELED THIS PROJECT???
I feel sad... :-(
Fucking make it! The Porsche 918 and Mclaren P1 are doing great! Cmon Jag!!!
I've pretty much always had a knack for guessing numbers when it came to cars, but when you said 1.6 and 500hp I thought that's not possible. Even blown, the only way for that to be possible is a formula one car.... Sure enough...
This was one of the biggest blunders in automotive history. Here I am pondering on this in 2022. I wish this car was around even though I can't afford one. 😳🥴
I am so sad that they didn't release this. This could have totally changed the brand. From almost being cheeky to being truly bad ass.
Michael Lenz who cares jlr revenue is up from 2 billion euros to 20 billion euro what more?
They could have sold them for 2mil and ppl still would've bought them. Wasted all that money on production and engineer to stop right before sales. Makes no sense
Yea thats why you don't let accountant run a car company
BestCanKeanRob2 Different time, so much money from asia and middle east even though america and Europe were in recession, it feels like only the middle and lower class was in recession. Pagani and koenigsegg and others were sold out in the same period of time, so can Jag. It is just bad management from Jag as always. F-40 was selling like hot cakes in earlier 90s, Jag also drop the V12 from the concept car which ppl was crazed about.
BestCanKeanRob2 I listened in the video, however this car would be pitched to the wealthiest of individuals. Who if you look at the latest recession did not stop buying Super exotics. It is a bit of a risk I acknowledge that, but they already spent so much on development they should have gave it shot. We live in a much more global economy than the time the xj220 came out
BestCanKeanRob2 yea they should put me in charge of marketing. Recession doesn't affect the Mega-rich. Like I said before, Pagani and Koenigsegg didn't go bankgrupt in recession how can Jag. XJ 220 didn't work because they drop the V12, if they didn't drop the V12, they would have sold many XJ. Ferrari sold 1000+ f40 in the same period of time
This could have been up there with the P1
Such a shame they didn't make this. I bet it would have sold really well, and taken the heat right to the big boys, and questioned their use of at least twice as many cylinders... That's the most epic 4-banger ever.
Literally could have beaten out all competition... this car is literally a dream and beauty... It beats everything in style and sound, and i guarantee handling. the world needs this Jaguar.. 🙏
You have been, well and truly blessed! To be allowed to drive the car, on what is quite frankly a small, absolutely awesome car show on youtube!
Keep on rocking XCAR!!!!
It might be because it will never be produced, but for me it looks more beautiful than 918, laferrari and P1. And with that small engine, emissions that are unbelievable it might actually have been the winner.
WELL DONE JAGUAR ,... NOW BULD IT.. THEY'LL ALL SELL !
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!! I remember reading all the first drive articles but none had videos, sooo awesome you guys did this!
Make it Jaguar, Make it.
Screw the financial crisis, bloody make it! It's aspirational, makes us believe that things can be better,
beautifull! sad that they didnt set it for sale
What's keeping Jag from making it now? Seems like they just shot themselves in the foot by letting the P1 steal the hypercar crown
i want to punch this ceo's face and kick him in the nuts! it's a shame! this is a timeless beauty!
I have a 2023 F-Type Coupe and love it. Ian Callum is a genius. Just discovered the CX75 recently.
Insane that they didn't put the CW75 into production, even with a different engine, as that 1.6 liter probably wouldn't last long term with 500HP. That said, current F1 engines are 1.6 liter v6 producing around 1,000 HP
Maybe a glimpse into what the 2025 F-Type EV will look like?
From the end quote "A bit too much for its time", the Porsche 918, Ferrari Le Ferrari and the Mclaren P1 came out later on. I just don't see why that was the case, they could have made at least 10 models and sold them for that £900,000 they will be still be profitable and the lucky people that buy it, will hopefully show it off in car shows. I'm quite upset that they wouldn't make this amazing car. And I wouldn't care if isn't as fast as the 918, P1 or the Le Ferarri. The looks will sell the car by itself.
AKS1692 Agreed ! But don't be mistaken : this car cost much more than £ 9,000,000 to develop for sure, so 10 models is far to be enough to make it profitable... But who cares ? Fo the image of Jaguar, this C-X75 could have been massive publicity ! What a shame...
Have no problem pimping it out to racing games at least. Thanks Jaguar.
Guys, if I am not mistaken, we have 8 years to get our shit together financially. 2022 will be the 100th anniversary and there will be so much cool shit to buy!
Man, it was too sexy to exist. I think it's between the E-Type Convertible and XJ220 in the most beautiful cars the company has made.
They really need to make this car. LaFerrari, P1 and 918 are out there and shining.
Can't wait to see this in Spectre
***** Also looking forward to that too. But it's different because that car was specifically designed for the film
I was REALLY disappointed by Spectre, they only show it for about Five minutes :(
1.6 l and over 500bhp ? More than enough for me. Just waw...
Bmw engine in the Brabham f1 car from the 80s: 1.5L 1350 hp xD
Rottensteam I hear you man.
+Rottensteam sure you can have power but for how long? What nobody talks about is how engines aren't made to last. The problem is heat. Heat and ambient pressure are the limiting factor.
+Flash Man They only lasted for a couple of laps back then and with special transmissions attacthed. During the race they were down to about 650-850 hp.
Looks absolutely beautiful in that purple/blue colour!
If they aren't going to sell it, could they lend it to some video game studios, because I would love to drive it virtually!
This is the best thing we never got😔💔
From a company which gave us the XJ220 and XJR-15, it is depressive that they have not come up with anything bonkers like the LaFerrari or P1. They just sell us the same F-Type with makeup each year.
If you build it, they will come...
Easily the sexiest-looking supercar of the past 20 years for me - WHY JAGUAR, WHYYY?!
This made me feel all the feels.
In a hypothetical universe, where Jaguar is producing this car & I'm wealthy enough to afford one, hands down I'd choose this over the 918/P1/LaFerrari. It looks & sounds incredible!
This Jaguar CX75 is the vehicle that gave chase to the Aston Martin in Daniel Craig: James bond movie no time to die.
The value of this gorgeous beast will surely skyrocket in years to come, especially as the great car that never was...
This would have shown the world the future of super cars, but it was never to be.
Now AMG has a concept/production car which seems to have some influence from this. JAG should stop calculating and make the car.
cortezforever it would be a easy decision to make if they had a giant behind them like Bugatti had with vw but if they decided to build this and something went wrong it could kill jag
paul torton tata is one hell of a giant...
givemeajackson yeah tata is pretty big at small cars and trucks but not high performance cars. remember vw have got Lamborghini, audi and Porsche so have decades of experience in house to take on a huge project like it did with the veyron
paul torton
They can also be 'Giants' if they change their thinking, one must be bold to win.
918 Spyder, LaFerrari, P1 and the CX-75.... those cars have to be on the track at the same time!
Jag has a habit of coming to the party late. Just look at the XJ220 as an example. This would have been great for publicity. Jag also hasn't done much in the racing sean lately. I hope Jaguar reconsiders, and makes a few hundred of them for wealthy collectors. Thanks.
I would pay to see this on a public road..stunning!
How could they not build this beauty? After all that work??
Great scoop by XCAR! Never heard of this car.
They chickened out !
At that time, Aston Martin said fuck it and built the legendary One-77 ! At the same economic crisis...
come on jaguar this would of totally sold well i think its amazing
Now that is a beautiful car. usually concept cars look over done with the styling. This car looks new and different but still has that classic jaguar beauty.
7 years later, this car doesn’t look dated at all
What a beautiful car, perfect shape, so much power, annnddd handling. Why didnt they build this, sad to see it go to waste. would have been so legendary. This is like an i8 on steroids
I've never actually lusted after a car as hopelessly and painfully as I have this.
This actually hurts that it's stillborn... so much...
C-X75 is gorgeous!. When will we see the new Vanquish review on XCAR?
But now is the time to make it ! Let's say Goodwood FOS 2015 :)
that blue one is sooooo nice, i would imagine one of those prototypes will be auctioned to the highest bidder in the years to come... time to start making bank.
This makes me both happy and sad at the same time. What a machine!
"Too much for its time" couldn't agree more...
If they made it a 2.0L pushing another 100ish HP, further refined it, and charged a million pounds or even more and they would sell like hot cakes. It's one of the prettiest cars ever.
Holy shit, are you kidding me? 40 miles on electric mode? 900 BHP? 10.000+ rev range? That's insane.. And the looks of it.. And the noise!..
What is it 10 years ago now ?? 😭😭
The word Exquisite comes to mind, bravo Jaguar:D.
*Looks at this 500 HP 1.6L*......*glares at 200 HP 1.6L Veloster Turbo in driveway with contempt*
Wow, what's up with the bold?
500 from a 1.6? MIND BLOWN. now I know that that its boosted, yees, but think about it, 500 bhp from a 1.6?!? amazing
What music is playing towards the end of your video?? Awesome car and a great review as always!! Thanks!
With these new machines like this one and also F-type coupe, the rising of Jaguar begins...
You must be lucky to stand beside this beauty.....
"This is the fastest i have ever driven now" HAHAHAHAHHAHA wait till u get your hands on a Bugatti Veryon, it will come...
but man, we gotta give you guys props for managing to get your hands on this car... only 5 in the world?! and that's all there will ever be?! holly engine, this is incredible footage. Thank you guys for bringing this exclusive to us, the viewers, the satisfaction you provided us by seeing this amazing 5-unit limited hyper-car in action is just fabulous.
This is as fast as the veyron ...
Loïc Martel No, it's not.
Even if he drives a Veyron it doesn't mean he will go 200mph
SonOfTamriel top speed doesn't matter. acceleration and lap times matter, and there the jag destroys the veyron.
it sounds better than veyron does
veyron just sounds like pussy
Forget the P1, TheFerrari, 918, Huayra, whatever. This is the car I want, especially in that blue.
Mind blowing car and brilliant report....Cheers...
This jag is absolutely stunning in looks and performance.. It's a shame it's never going into production.. Because this is a hypercar worth having.. I mean just look at it! The lines and all! And best of all, it doesn't look like a spaceship.. It's a proper car! Maybe, just maybe if the demand is high enough, right? What do you think?
Proof of concept would be to put one on a race track at say, LeMans? What eventually did in the Granatelli Indy turbine racer was the heat output, which is upwards of 150 degrees. You can buy the turbine electric generators, no problem...
Such a shame they won't get this beautiful piece of art on wheels onto production.
Can you believe this thing was built in 2010 and better than a lamborghini centenario
To be ahead of time is not always a good thing......
Proved
I’ve always thought about starting a coach building/design house. If I were to have the resources and the approval from Jaguar, I’d do my best to start making a perfect replica of one of these, hybrid electric and all, and bring this thing into production after it missed the opportunity back in the day.
I CAN SMELL THE END OF THE CAR AGE "all brands touch the limits"
I have the Jaguar c-x75 on CSR2 and is super cool
As availability of electric motors, so much available, I think they should revisited it
Jag and Caddy make ehh cars nowadays. Concepts like this cx75 and Elmiraj are what need to be released to get the prestige and panache back into the brands.
