Just upgraded from my 2006 4.3 manual to a 2010 V12 manual with 19,000 miles. Absolutely delightful, with all the kit I wished my 4.3 had. Big ceramics, proper lights, sorted interior, amazing stereo, utterly wonderful engine sound and laugh out loud performance, so pleased I sprung the extra! 😍
This car is easily one of the all time greats within motoring! The timeless design, nice compact dimensions and oh that engine!! Prob my favourite Aston so far. That shape never seems to age?! Pure magic!!!
MY GOD That ENGINE NOISE NEVER GETS OLD. The purest of its kind. The current gen. astons, though "outdated" have maintained their beauty. That says a lot about it's design. I still long for a DBS......someday! Great video XCAR!
The sound of that car is absolutely I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E! There are few cars on the planet that have a sound like the one coming out of that exhaust. Good gosh that thing just sounds magical. I want to save every single dollar I have ever made in life and get an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. But, unfortunately I put two girls through four year universities! Oh well, the dream just died........
That exhaust note! The Brits are making some of the best sounding cars on the road today between this and the Jag F Type... The last 30 or so seconds of this video - starting at 9:50 - just put a smile on my face all morning.
I love manual automated gearbox, i just used to it, it's not bad as people may think, yes it's slower than modern dual clutch gearboxes but they give the car a character, attitude and mechanical feel and connection.
@@Carfection We have just brought this car IN THIS COLOUR SCHEME!!!! We have just watched this video many times and love your delivery and enthusiasm for the car. Our life dream has been to have a V12VS - we are also installing CAT delete pipes and removing the exhaust valve fuse number 15!
I drove most of Scotland on my honeymoon in a piece of SH.... rental. Slight challenge being from U.S. But, finishing the last route from Edinburgh to Glasgow, I would have paid through the nose to have this car on the M8. What a great road and with 95+ octane gas, ohhhh myyy gooodneessss. Senna, Schumacher, Andretti, Fittipaldi, all come to mind. As always, I appreciate the style and personality of the report.
As soon as I can afford one of these, I will buy one. Life is too short to live out in perpetual monotony. And it will be daily driven. When it isn't in the shop half of the year for repairs.
This is my favorite late model Aston Martin BY FAR. It's even up there with the older models, if not surpassing them, as far as aesthetics is concerned. Performance wise, it blows them out of the water, but I'm sure the visceral feel older models had just can't be met. Which probably isn't any manufacturers fault, the laws are just so much stricter now than they were 40-50 years ago. Nevertheless, their approach when building this is what the definition of a true sports car should be. Big engine, small (as well as stiff) chassis, excellent handling & breaking, and an original style. This car checks all of those boxes in my opinion. That's why it's not just one of my favorite Aston's, its one of my favorite cars entirely. I just pray that it never gets put out of production or gets some hideous "facelift".
Plus if I could afford one of these, I could afford the manual transmission that mates to it's engine and have it swapped in. Then it would be the ultimate tourer.
Wow, this car... I mean this is not *A* car it's an Aston. Seeing or hearing one always gives me this happy feeling inside that no other car does. They are truely something special. except the cygnet, F that thing.
What a brilliantly engineered beast. Alex, thanks for another great review. I love your analogies "as subtle as a brick across your face, hilarious. Cheers.
I don't want a Ferrari or a lambo- I don't know why but the British makers McLaren and Aston Martin sizzle my soul. The V12 vantage S has got to be my fav car of all time love the classic short rear long hood rwd
On the gearbox - I NEVER drive it in auto. Even around town I always drive around on the paddles. At anything less than flat-out it likes a little lift of the throttle on up-shifts, and its hard to anticipate this if it is making the decision. It'll automatically downshift if the revs drop even in manual mode.
0:42 best part of the car, your key becomes integrated into the car and becomes the actual "button" you press to start the engine. its like bmw's feyfob done CORRECTLY
What a great review of a fantastic car, which must be a beautiful, tactile and sonorous delight to behold, to experience and to own. What more could any true petrol-head want?! Maybe a Ferrari 458 Italia to keep it company, but nothing else for me...
I'd rather a regular V12 or V8 vantage, because manual gearbox. I'm disappointed that there is no manual gearbox on offer for the 'S' variant. Eventhough I probably couldn't afford one, it still saddens me to see a car brand with so much finesse and character not offering the manual gearbox for enjoyment. Is this really trying to be a track car for fast lap times or what?
It saddens me to see such a big brand like Aston Martin going down,i mean that interior is over 10 years old, they keep the same interiors on all the cars ...I know theyre owned by Ford, but someone needs to invest in this brand, because is going down...I'll rather have a Jag than an Aston, and that's SAD!
***** Son,they're still owned by Ford and David Richards and other investiment groups...Yeah i know Jag and LR are owned by TATA but theyve made amazing progress...Aston realeased the Vanquish at an enourmous price which is just a big GT with lots of power but nothing special interior sucks(the have GARMIN gps lol lol) and same for the rest of the cars...What i was trying to explain is the fact that Aston with policy they're easily going down and Jaguar is moving ahead big times...and you cant compare a Jag to an Aston...Someone should invest in them ASAP!!!
i found a lot of Aston V12 vantage for $70k with a manual and if you have more money you can even make it your beast by changing Suspension, add more power, some carbon fiber panels...and shit will be great you walk and say this one is built not bought! you feel spacial and happy. but personally I'd rent it and have fun with it b4 i buy one.
David MuscleGuy lol that's true. I never though about that if I ever owned an Aston, "Built not bought." Good one !! I'd personally be happy with a V8 Vantage as long as its got that awesome manual transmission gear lever.
obsedatr6 Ford Own well under 10% of the company. The majority is a private investment. Aston Martin design and build their own cars, so you won't find many Ford parts on an Aston.
Does Aston Martin produce USA compatible models of these? The only thing that’s holding me back is there are no standard shifts available. Maybe I’ll stick with the standard Vantage.
Aston made a great move when they put a V-12 into the Vantage. I remember when they first did it, and Top Gear UK showcased it, Clarkson was driving it, but stayed silent and let the car do the talking. Shame this S model doesn't have a full on manual 'box option, but it seemingly still would be a fun machine to drive. Thumbs up on putting a V-12 into the Vantage Aston Martin!
That last bit is what I was holding out for.. And Aston, really..? With that headlight switch down by your right knee? They put a beast together like that, and can't find a more stylish switch that blends in better with the rest of the cockpit?
Great video... Oh and btw, it is not an engine "NOISE", it's an engine "SOUND". You see, by the strick definition of the word, a noise is a sound with no periodicity or definition. While the sound from an engine has a very distinct pattern generated from the number of cylinders, the A/F ratio, and the firing sequence and the crank angles... So I think that an engine makes a sound not a noise...
1:58 *their smallest car is the Aston Martin Cygnet but I doubt you can fit a v12 in that, in fact I think the v12 would be bigger than the car it self
3:06 - 3:29 utterly spine tingling. Has to be one of the greatest sounding cars of all time
Just upgraded from my 2006 4.3 manual to a 2010 V12 manual with 19,000 miles. Absolutely delightful, with all the kit I wished my 4.3 had. Big ceramics, proper lights, sorted interior, amazing stereo, utterly wonderful engine sound and laugh out loud performance, so pleased I sprung the extra! 😍
Congrats! How reliable has it been, any major repairs or concerns?
@MANZOIL 100% dreamy gorgeous/ferocious!

Small car with such a huge heart

Haha anyway, that's quite an achievement already, isn't it ; )
Sell the house! ;)
Let them learn responsibility and take out student loans.
I don’t have any girls so no college. I just bought a v12 Vantage s
Damn. 9:53 you are welcome.
Yea that's the money shot right there haha! I wish they did an audio book of the best car sounds - featuring this one somewhere along the line
I love the fact that Astons are such beautiful, sophisticated vehicles... with such brutal sounds. Wonderful combination.
That exhaust note is music to my ears! And the car is stunning!
That exhaust note! The Brits are making some of the best sounding cars on the road today between this and the Jag F Type...
The last 30 or so seconds of this video - starting at 9:50 - just put a smile on my face all morning.
You are 100% right about the Jag - the V6 which is the best sounding one... Unbelievable car
probably the best V12 sound ever put in a car .

OH GOD! SO ANGRY SO ANGRY! So full of want. One of your best yet XCAR. Thank you so much from a fan who could never afford one!
they really packed a v12 in there. lots of carbon bits.
Yeah! One of my favorite cars!
We just brought on in these launch colours - it has been our dream for years!
Consuming appreciation for this car comes at 9:53. That sound is meal for which I have a seemingly endless appetite.
I'm just now discovering the beauty of all carfection videos and the quality of production is astounding. Well done
XCar, give this man a promotion. What a fantastic reviewer.
Love the Aston to bits
Thank you guys for that sound bit at the end. I got chills it was soo good. Keep up the great work. Big fan
Another perfect review. Probably one of the top two v12 vantage S reviews I've seen this far. Tied with Matt's from "The Smoking Tire."
Alex Zevallos so you're also a car guy? Nice
the sound is ungodly

@Carfection .... If you want to borrow our car please let us know!
Honestly I was behind one of these.....want doesn’t cover it
the man that got the idea of the pure v12 sound at the end..... you win sir.
The cinematography is sublime.

Would have said

+Ferdarte Blättler They showed him! lol
top kek
No anger, just pure class and power
What's the music at the very end of the video, please? After 10:40
Is it just some music created for XCAR, or is it a part of some track?
"for the Martin family" Interesting take on it. Keep up the great work!
My ict teacher drives this car in white and when he goes out before lunch the sound of his v12 gives me butterflies ahaha
Yes a very beautiful one! I made a deal with him that if I bought him a burger king he'd take me out in it
Unique Rize where does this man live so i can send him a truck full of hamburgers
Me or my teacher?
Well I'm not gonna send you the burgers hah
Awk.. I was looking foward to them :(
My favorite Aston, hands down. Sounds and looks amazing.
You guys make SUCH great films.
MMMMMMmmmmmm!!! That exhaust note sounds SOOO GOOD!!!
Okay now, where's the manual trans??
I still can't decided if I want a DBS or the V12 Vantage more
This is literally my current dilemma

i love this guy's use of metaphors
Secretly, we don't care how many neighbours it wakes up - we all love a big shouty car. =)
As soon as I can afford one of these, I will buy one. Life is too short to live out in perpetual monotony.

is there a bulletin board for the reliability of these cars?
@@steveatx8295 We have just brought one in these launch colours! Our life dream has come true!
We have one - same colour!
The sound is insane. Awesome car. But without intending to use cliches, imagine how amazing it would be with a stick!
Aaah man the noise... man... Just music to the ears...
As usual awesome video again...
I will never stop loving this car,I think she's my soul mate😍🥰
Alex your review is spot on, especially the need to have Sport pressed and use the paddle shift 👍🏻
9:53 Thank me later
Also, another great review. Loved it.
This guy is such a solid presenter.
That exhaust note is about as demonic a sound as the gates of hell opening and scraping on a floor made up of a black board.... I love it! :D
I need this car in simulators and videogames!!
It was in GT5 and I'm pretty sure it´s in GT6 too
Andres .C Sadly not the S.. The standard V12 is though. And you can tune it up to the S though.
Michael Tarantino i conquer

still DBS is one of my favorite astons ever
Taking this lad and Chris Harris as co-moderators would be the only possibility to save TopGear that I can think of.
Great piece on the V12 S... love it!!!
hey if any millionaires are reading this, please gift me an aston martin
One of the best car videos iv'e ever seen!
that noise omg i can listen to it all day everyday

those are very nice too, but that little design touch really stands out
Their slogan should be. Aston Martin power and Elegance personified.

And this car did no have CAT delete pipes, nor the exhaust valves held open.
genuinely epic... epic car, epic sound, epic landascape, epic review... EPIC
The only thing I can't stand about this work of art is a seven speed manual that would make it the greatest car I've ever seen
XCAR, Even though it's not longer in production, I'd LOVE to see you review the DBS in your own style. PLEASE!!
Drove this in racing green a few weeks back, honestly is an amazing car!!!! And it sounds ace too!

Absolute most beautiful car ever made.
The front view of this car is so beautiful.
If you're going to make an analogue, old school sports car, then give it a manual option.
The songs name is: v12 THUNDAH

I bet Q division will build you a V12VS with a manual if you offer enough money. Hopefully at least!

I drove one the other day, from cold the gearbox felt almost like a normal auto. and manual shifting was a you'd expect it to feel.

1:58 *their smallest car is the Aston Martin Cygnet but I doubt you can fit a v12 in that, in fact I think the v12 would be bigger than the car it self
