Alan Rickman: And finally, without this person, there would be no film. She stands full square at its center, she is its heart and its mind: Kate Winslet ...so I said to Kate "You want to say something?"
Kate Winslet: Yes, Alan did say to me "I think you should say something" and so I’m doing as Alan says ...which is what I spent three months doing last year, up to our necks actually in mud ...not knees, up to our necks in mud (Alan said that earlier when presenting the cinematographer, Ellen Kuras) ...so I’m just going to say a little something because I think you've been all sitting here patiently for long enough. When I was 19, I was lucky enough to be cast in a film called "Sense and Sensibility" and... actually, I really am finding myself telling the story, ain't I? Oh my God! ...and I was terrified, I was absolutely terrified of everything to do with this film... could not believe that I've been cast ...could not believe that someone wasn't gonna turn around to me and say "Listen, I’m so sorry, but we actually read the wrong name of the list and when we phoned you up, we actually meant to phone up somebody else to tell them they will play Marianne Dashwood" ...so, as my nerves were getting a little better as time went by, I thought ...Ok, I can do this, I can be an actress and I can be in this film with all these heavy actors ....and then Alan Rickman walked into the hair and makeup trailer and said: "Helloooo" :))
I’m not worthy, not at all...really not worthy... and 20 years later, I can’t believe that I've spent so much time with Alan and I have been directed by him ...and I’m the luckiest actress alive and I just had to share that with you.
Alan Rickman: Thank you so much for being here ...this is not reality, it’s a romance... so, take a breath... enjoy it...it’s for you.
