And also, the tax payers have to cover the cost of medical bills of overweight people when they get sick (in countries where tax payer money is used for public health care) It is not nice that healthy people have to pay the bills of unhealthy people who CHOSE to be unhealthy. What a heartwarming comment. Titanic is special to me for a special reason. The first time I fell in love was at 17, meeting a 17-year-old Roman girl while visiting my two prior exchange students from Rome (for a couple of weeks) who had stayed with us for two weeks in April (because I studied Italian in high school). Though 21, Kate played a 17-year-old in the movie, funnily enough. That level of youth plus distance (Copenhagen, Denmark, and Rome are 955 miles apart) was doomed from the onset. Her feminine model-like beauty and body were like a de facto clone of Kate's in Titanic, basically, the brunette version of Kate, and thus, when I watched the movie in the cinema only 6 months later, it caused a reaction unlike any movie ever since because it tore open something not even close to having healed yet. I was appreciative of the darkness of that early January night since it afforded me some privacy as we walked to my parent's car while I was struggling to suppress sobbing as I'd only, 'till then, ever done when my grandma passed just after Christmas a year prior.
I remember thinking as a teenager seeing her in Titanic on the big screen for the first time even though she was new to the industry it felt like she had always been there. I've watched almost everything she's ever done since and I absolutely adore her.

I watched her in a film called Jude years ago and the viewers saw quite a bit of her naked flesh in one shot and I just remember thinking how brave she was to let herself be subjected to any and all types of comments be them good or bad. This is such a quality interview. I've watched it a couple of times. That long silence when she was talking about how she got back at that reporter was gut wrenching and visceral. Amazing woman. She was amazing in Mare. I think her dad's experience as a struggling actor really shaped her and gives her an appreciation for where she is at now and a specific empathy for everyone out there trying to make it. Amazing.

When I lived in NYC, I'm almost 99.9% certain I was standing next to her near 15th Street Union Square. She had a stroller, and was with her child at the time. Waiting for the "Walk" signal, I caught a brief glimpse of her wearing dark sunglasses, and a shawl over her head. Still, she was drop dead gorgeous, very graceful, and much tinier than I imagined. I was too scared to say hi or even smile. I had such a crush on her growing up. She's still talented, beautiful, and even has a fantastic singing voice. Look her up with "What If?" which came out in 2002.

I love Kate from since Heavenly Creatures. Watched every movie with her in it and I love every one of it. It’s not a Kate obsession for me, I just frankly think that she is one of the best actress pf our time and also, a beautiful human being, inside and out.
