What was really heartbreaking about this year was that the Chicago Cubs were also making a hard drive towards their first World Series appearance in a while, but would wind up losing the NLCS. We could have had a Red Sox-Cubs series in 2003 with both teams getting a chance to break their respective curses. It could have been one of the greatest World Series of all time.
@@thedude3065 It wouldn't have been the 100th world series it would have been the 100th year of world series, the 1904 and 1994 world series weren't played, so the 2003 world series would have been the 98th time
Yeah but the Marlins kicking down the door, punching the Yankees in the nuts to snatch the world series, then dipping back into irrelevancy is pretty great on it's own right. cubs-red sox would have been cool though yeah
I HATE Joe Buck!!!...Every play called with equivalent dullness. And the non-stop lecturing about Pedro - both before and after he tossed Zimmer. The Sox Yanks in '03 and '04 were greatest series-es of all time and they could have been better with a decent announcer.
I swear the 2003 LCS was absolutely insane. Not only was there this series, but there was also the series between Florida and Chicago. Both were incredible series.
I love that last sentence.. The Red Sox broke the curse of the Bambino in 2004 and ruined my damn life... I FEEL your pain. I am a LIFELONG Yankees fan.
The fact that this series can take a moment I had never heard of nor cared about, and proceed to give me goose bumps when that moment is shown at the end of the video is pretty freakin special. Keep up the good work!
All I remember from this night is this exact moment. Watching the game at my best buds house and calling this home run. Some how I knew he was going to smack that out the park!
I'd like to suggest the Scott Hatteberg home run for 20 in a row. I think that could be interesting discussing the huge blown lead in the game, close calls in the streak, and how the A's obtained key players.
I'm a Sox fan. This is still painful to watch. And yet... your kickass "VHS Tape Rewinder Shaped Like A Sweet Corvette" fills me with determination and gives me life.
The Marlins have never had more fans outside of South Florida than they had in Boston after this series. Josh Beckett basically won the Series for Boston twice - 07 and 03 lol.
Goddamn do I love this channel, beef history, dorktown, chart party! You can learn the ins and out of RUclips, you can teach editing, but the art of storytelling is special. Keep it up guys.
I absolutely love the idea of seeing every little thing that leads up to these amazing moments. Great series please please keep them coming, especially baseball!
God. On pace for 100 wins, 15 years and 3 championships later ... and somehow... it STILL hurts. This is an absolutely great series though. Do a hockey rewinder please!!!
The life of a Reds fan is watching your favorite players move on to do great things for other teams. I was always liked Aaron Boone and I was stoked for him after that walk off homer.
I was at game 3 with the Zimmer Brawl. Can't believe I honestly forgot Clemens and Pedro were pitching, or that the Sox lost. It was such a wild time in the rivalry.
Every episode in this series is amazing. I don't care much about baseball but given the context of a major sporting event, it really helps me understand important moments in sporting history. Good job SB Nation team!!
I know you've already done a Giants rewind which I feel blessed to get to see. But consider looking at Travis Ishikawa's walk-off Homer in Game 6 of 2014 NLCS and his connection to the 2010 team.
These are AWESOME videos thankyou and keep up the good work... the allan Houston game 5 shot, the jeter/arod feud, bulls game 6 game winner etc.. all great work!
Even though it's been 20 years and we've got more than a few World Series under our belts now, as a Red Sox fan this moment still hurts. This was the first one of their heartbreaking moments that I was alive to see. Freaking Grady Little.
You gotta do Red Sox vs Yankees ALCS 2004 especially game 4. That was the most intense game ever. Everyone in the world knew Roberts was going to try and steal second. You could feel the tension just from your TV screen. That led to the greatest comeback in baseball history and one of the best ALCS games ever. It was beautiful. Also the A-Rod sissy slap 😂
Being from Boston, this hurts a lot less knowing the success the sox had after this. But, man..... This hurt. Aaron f@#$ing Boone I spent a lot of money of tickets between these two teams, back then
I really want to see them do the save the pacers telethon in 1977. I realize it probably isn't that big of a deal to most sports fans and I'm biased because I am a pacers fan myself, but I think it's an incredible moment in sports history that not a lot of people are actually aware of unless they grew up in Indianapolis, or is a hard core pacers fan.
Haven't gotten to the end of the video, but I'm guessing you won't mention this part: I was watching on TV in NYC and the local broadcast (not sure if it was also true on other Fox affiliate stations) was still in commercial break when Boone swung the bat. They were in the habbit of padding the commercial breaks and pushing them right up to the first pitch of the inning. That first pitch was the home run ball. They switched back to the game when the ball was in the air. I only saw the swing on replay and later in re-airings of the game. The live airing, at least in NYC, didn't show it.
Seriously? Ouch, man... That sucks. I too, am a Yankee lifer, and I was listening to the game on the radio, as I worked my job. I was lucky enough to hear the hit and hear the fans losing their minds in Yankee Stadium. Being a Yankees fan, in Seattle, was kinda' tuff and rough... but especially glorious in 2001!!! Bronx Bombers are bound for glory, in 2018!!!
In 2003, I was convinced that if the World Series was going to be a Red Sox vs Cubs series, the world would most definitely end... Thank goodness for Aaron Boone and Steve Bartman!
Surely a rewinder for Dave Roberts and Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. I know it wasn't a walk off, but it began the greatest comeback in North American professional sports....
Back when i was a yankee fan I distinctly remember this moment. I think this was the last year I watched the yanks as a fan. Out of giving baseball another chance I became a Mets fan.
The amount of talented players involved in this game is mind boggling
Jack Thomas the Yankees weren't spending 15% of their payroll on A-rod yet, and David Ortiz was really just starting to make his name known.
Ugh I know! Like nothing but all stars. Awesome series awesome rivalry
Two very good teams
Because these teams are willing to spend money. Unlike 2/3 of the teams where their billionaire owners cry poverty

You need to make this series a regular one. Hands down each episode is way better than what ESPN is currently broadcasting
