"The Red Sox have shown that the way to get Giambi out is with high heat."

I remember watching this at 5 years old with my dad, who although is an Orioles fan has always had a hatred for the yankees. It was late and a school night but my dad let me watch it. Being 5 years old I knew baseball as much as a child could, and seeing that 8th inning rally was the moment I became a yankee fan. I fell asleep and my dad woke me up around the 10th, and I still remember seeing him shut out the red Sox like it was yesterday. When Boone hit the home run my dad was so pissed he woke my mom up, and she was more mad at the fact he let me stay up and watch it, but it was one of my first memories and I wouldn't want it any other way

Unfortunately for 5 years Aaron Boone didn’t get us to 5 more World Series Championships from 2018-2023. But Boone managed to make it happen this year and it was absolutely fantastic. God I miss Boone playing as number 19 during his playing days. If he is still gonna be a manager he should go back to wearing number 19 to resemble his 2003 season

Die hard six fan. I was in college at BU when this happened. I remember gathering in a rec hall with about two hundred people watching this on a giant screen. The first seven innings were like a dream come true. Giant party. When that 8th inning happened it was like someone completely let the air out of the room. We were heartbroken. Silent. I heard sobs. It was like a nightmare. Everything that happened though was completely at the fault of Grady little. Sox did it to themselves and the better team won. Yes, 04 the dream finally became a reality and history was made. But I can’t lie and say 03 doesn’t still hurt.

I'm remember watching Pedro in that 8th inning with a friend that absolutely loathed the Yankees. He was watching just to see them lose.. he hated them so much lol...I'll never forget that 8th inning watching him screaming get him out of there, get pedro out. There was a weird feeling in the air... everybody knew somehow Posada was going to come through. It was like everybody felt it coming except Francona and Pedro. My friend was going nuts because Pedro was left in the game when clearly he was getting hit hard and he had lost it out there. I remember him screaming get Pedro out and the look on his face when the bloop double of Posada landed lol... To his credit he said after the Red Sox deserve to lose this game now. This was the end of Pedro's golden years and his perfection was starting to slightly crack. You could sense he was out there way to long. He was great for seven innings but he was losing his stuff as the game went on. Everybody could see it. I remember staying up to see Boone's HR and everyone else fell a sleep watching the game. I scared the crap out of them and woke them up to the Yankees winning. Memories like that are beyond valuable. Growing up a Yankee fan in the 90s was a gift. You couldn't have had a better youth watching your favorite team. Incredible times to be a fan.

Yes, the Joe Torre era was great (well, most of it). Those Yankees were not the villains that they had been depicted as in numerous sports movies (in the 70's and 80's). When Bernie Williams became a free agent and turned down a more lucrative offer to stay with the Yankees, that told me that that team was a class group of guys.

He's at least slightly better in baseball than football. I think part of the reason he has such a monotonous, reserved delivery is because he grew up listening to his dad announce baseball. Baseball is generally a more chill game to announce with less yelling and shouting and superlatives. Plus, back when his dad announced, all announcers were just super tame compared to now. Remember Pat Sumerall back in the '90s? It was like listening to your grandpa tell stories about his garden.

I almost don't care the Sox won in 2004. We beat them in the ALCS in 1999 AND 2003. We're 2-1 in the ALCS against them.

It would’ve been better if the Yankees won the World Series In 2003 I’m not sure if the redsox still would’ve won it the following year

@@calbassas87 Granted they cheated. The 2018 Red Sox got caught cheating, investigated and punished. They're no better than the Astros in this one.

The Red Sox lost that game because of their own damn pride, why oh why did you leave Pedro in that long after he fuckked up over and over and over again. By the way I’m a Yankees fan and I saw this live on TV in Philadelphia at College amongst Yankee hater Phillies fans
