It sure is one of Her greatest concerts ever from start to finish just Amazing , it would be a complete joy to see them put that HBO special in theaters for a week or 2 Whitney fans I think would love it I'd be first to get my ticket 🎟 ❤
FYI! Whitney specifically finds musicians that know how to improvise with her. She is the conductor of her band. Rare. Not many do this. That’s why many musicians call her a musician aside from a singer.
Thank you for the info. I'm beginning to see a few parallels between her and Elvis - I've heard a lot of his recording sessions and he was definitely a band leader. Both were amazing interpreters of material, both mastered many genres...
@@bridgethegapreactions Other simliarities and coincidences: Well her mother Cissy Houston was part of the sweet inspirations at some point which sang background vocals for Elvis. Whitney met Elvis when she was 6. They didn't write their own songs but both were master interpreters. They both fought with addictions and both were found dead in a bathroom. They were both divorced at the time of their death and both left a daughter behind - very tragic endings for both but they left such an unforgettable mark on this world through their talents and both had huge hearts - maybe too big for them to be in showbusiness. And finally a duet with these two would have been epic!

It's a pleasure to watch you react to Whitney's songs for the first time. You are witnessing and appreciating Whitney's God given vocal abilities.. Thanks for reacting to her songs. You will react the same way in 15 years. Your reaction will never change. Watch Whitney sing opera and the best version of I will always love you at the Rainforest Benefit. You will be impressed.
great reaction, it bespeaks of Whitney's over all magnificent ability as a singer and entertainer to so completely capture and enthrall a bunch of hardcore, rowdy, amped up service men and women, such unbelievable talent that woman had.
As a Whitney Houston fan of 30 years i would strongly recommend I Have Nothing (LIVE IN BRAZIL - 1994), which is THE BEST LIVE VERSION of her bodyguard hit. And 1991 Billboard Music Awards performance of Loverman/My Man/All the man I need (it's a medley performance)..
YESSS, the 91 Billboards performance is one of my faves. Whitney's version of some Billie Holliday classics, plus one of her own best songs "All the Man That I Need"
Great reaction, man. I highly recommend you "Saving all my love for you" live in Japan 1991. It starts with an incredible smooth saxophone and she made a complete different version of the studio record and it's so much better. After that I've never been listening to the studio version again. Whitney was the icon of the 80s/90s for a reason. She's part of the vocal trinity together with Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. But she was always my favorite singer.
Whitney was such a good a musician that other world-class musicians actually wanted to work with her. The keyboard player is Bette Sussman and Kirk Whalum on sax
When you talk about the breakdown and stretching the song out with improvisations and riffs, that is from the Black church and Gospel music where the musicians know how to follow the singer who may be just letting the Spirit guide them and a lot of that may not have been rehearsed. You just go by the feelings and energy; in sync.
Perhaps my favorite Whitney Houston awards show performance of all time, rivaled only by her in 94 at the American musical awards: 👉🏽 Whitney Houston Billboard 1991 Loverman -My Man - All the man I need. One thing Whitney Houston fans love most about her is her ability to reinterpret classic songs. The song she sings in the 91 melody are all song originally by Billie Holliday, and later reinterpreted by Diana Ross and Barbara Streisand.
That one is definitely a priority for me. I don't know much Billie Holliday either but I might check out the originals of those songs by myself before reacting to whitney's performance
Slowly working my way though your videos but would love you to do a reaction video to ‘A Quiet Place’, a gospel song Whitney sang quite early on in her career 😊
This was not rehearsed, the pianist confirmed that they improvised on the spot! Whitney was a spontaneous singer, her band members followed her..infact the song was not planned for the concert
Do Whitney Houston This Day w Bridge Over Troubled Waters with CeCe Winans you will definitely enjoy that 2 performances with a duet. Watch her rehearsal for This Day and you will see how she can wring the emotions out of a song and make your heart flutter.
It is said that Whitney sang this song to Robin... She was such a great singer that her voice could be considered an instrument. She knew everything about music and singing. People consider her a God blessed talent, but if you analyze her more deeply, you realize how trained she was and how consciously did what she did. Why does she mean the most to me? Because her performances are cathartic. And the purpose of art is exactly that: catharsis. I already felt this as a little girl, of course I couldn't articulate it yet. I didn't even know English. Whitney touched my soul just with her voice. All at once: ruclips.net/video/t1Y5Ln9PzVw/видео.html Poor video quality, great performance from the young Whitney. You can still hear her child-voice.
Thank you for that heartfelt post, I definitely feel the catharsis - it goes beyond words. I'll react to the one you suggested soon. More Whitney coming today!
Its true Whitney showed Robyn this song when they were young teens and she told Robyn she hadn't lived enough of life to sing it, until that moment in 1991.
This song being sung to Robyn makes a lot of sense in terms of time, when we are in her timeline so to speak, and also in terms of the intensity of the emotion in the song. Not that it's rare to have Whitney generate emotions in others, but it is rare to see her be moved herself by the song she's singing. That's on a whole other level tbh. Thanks for adding that spice to my experience of listening/watching this lol
Good day!You should react to Whitney Houston "I am changing" London 1986. Mariah Carey"Emotions" Official Music Video. The vocals of these Goddesses are amazing as usual.
Thanks for the comment, I'm looking forward to getting into Mariah too. Someone has suggested Can't Let Go, which I've done a video for. Off on holiday tomorrow and I've got a few to edit and upload in the next week. Will definitely get to some more Mariah and Whitney when I get back
I have reacted to the entire concert, start to finish. It will be on patreon.com/bridgethegapreactions this Saturday. $3 a month for a whitney concert or album reaction per month plus three individual performance reactions per month. Same for Madonna and Mariah Carey. $4 gets you everything. No pressure but it's there if you want it. thank you thank you for reacting to my recommendation on I have Nothing! I told ya so! no Live version of that song tops the Brazil performance.
When she covered other peoples songs - she made it her own and was never not amazing!
The pianist, Ms. Bet, tells the story of that night that whitney wanted a duet with music.
This is how we do it in church, so it is natural for her.
