    Well, Whitney didn't just sing, she touched your heart. She made you feel that she sings especially for you. I saw her live as a young man in Frankfurt in 1988 and was completely overwhelmed that a singer could do things live that most singers can't even do in a studio. She was very connected with her fans during her live concerts. And not to forget she was a beautiful woman too.

    A favorite quote on her by Barbra Walters.
    “She only needs to stand and deliver.
    Whitney caresses her audience with a show so intimate that you feel you’ve witnessed the public unveiling of a soul. The show is simple. Because her talent is huge.
So big that there is no room left on stage for anything other than her voice.”

    Your reaction was one of the purest sincerest reactions I have seen in a while. I was one of the biggest fans of WH when she did a duet with Jermaine Jackson's album If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful 1984 and I fell in love with her instantly. I couldn't find enough information on this young woman, and then her Self titled Debut Album came out in 1985 and when I heard it on the radio, I said that is her, this is the lady I have been looking for, and I immediately bought the Album the day it was released. I locked myself in the room and started reading the words while listening to her sing, and I was so overjoyed, inspired, and wanted to sing. I had to the opportunity to meet her 2x backstage and I was so flabbergasted each time. She was my vocal teacher in my head and her untimely passing on my birthday on Feb.11, 2012, I was so devastated that a songbird was quieted. I have never ever heard a more melodious and mastered voice since. I appreciate your reaction her voice stirs something down in your soul and it will make you cry and you don't know why, but it felt needed and only her voice can invoke a feeling like that for me.

    Another really emotional performance by Whitney, one which I've always found even more so than this, is her performance of "All The Man I Need" Live At HBO's Welcome Home Heroes, which was in front of an audience filled with the 5 US armed services. Extraordinary. Also her performance of America's National Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl is highly emotional in an entirely different way.

    • @bridgethegapreactions
      @bridgethegapreactions  2 года назад

      I'm interested to hear the national anthem because, with respect, it has no meaning to me and I don't even really like it as a piece of music (because I'm from the UK, the only time I hear it is when you guys win medals at the Olympics - no offence!). So I'm interested to see if she can sing something like that AND make me interested!

    Awesome reaction, I always get the feels with this one and it's satisfying to watch someone else get the same feels. As you said, some of her songs are painful to watch as a Whitney fan because it reminds you of what an incredible person and talent the world had and then lost. I'll always be grateful that I got to see her live in 2009, which was after her decline and at the beginning of her unfortunately rough comeback. The vocals weren't the same, but she was still herself and in a good place at that time and she still 100% had that incredible emotive ability. I'm looking forward to your reaction to another viewer's request for How Will I Know live at MTV! Totally different vibe, but it's so amazing to see the talent, confidence, and stage presence already on full display at such a young age!

      You're very lucky to have seen her perform! I always say that we should see these legends before it's too late (not seeing Bowie is my big regret). Did she talk a lot on stage and interact with the audience, or was it mainly about the songs?

    • @benbaker5440
      @benbaker5440 2 года назад

      @@bridgethegapreactions I'll always feel lucky for that experience! It wasn't a normal concert, it was actually her comeback appearance on Good Morning America in Central Park in New York when her last album debuted, so she only did a few songs. She also talked with the hosts and brought her daughter up on stage to perform with her at one point. She was deeply touched at how much love the fans had for her, and at one point she got really choked up while directing some lyrics of "I Look to You" toward her mother, who was off to the side. While of course I'd love to have seen her in her prime, this was a really special, very human experience that I wouldn't give up for anything

      I'll make that the next Whitney I do! Definitely need to check out her 80s performances as I love some of those 80s hits like I Wanna Dance With Somebody, How Will I Know, One Moment In Time... I've never previously listened to Whitney on purpose but some of those songs are unavoidable (and great). Thanks for the recommendation!

    I certainly put withney and Celine on the same category has the best female singer of all time she was exceptional the only thing that peoples tends to forget is that is that withney had her exceptional voice only for just around 12 years because after that she fell into drugs and alcohol after that even her main producer David Foster have said that she didn’t have the voice that she had before here’s a video of him saying what the problem was with her voice ruclips.net/video/g7_PsUr4Dxw/видео.html

      @@lenstgelais7376 No David isn’t her main producer. Her first two albums were not produced by David. And yes I saw Whitney live. Celine isn’t on the same level as Whitney but then again nobody is on Whitney’s level. Bringing up Whitney’s personal issues doesn’t prove anything except your desperately trying to show how much better you think Celine is but it’s not working. We aren’t talking about her personal choices, we are talking about her vocal abilities. Plus it wasn’t Whitney’s drugs but it was her cigarette smoking that did the damage to her voice. You have to remember that Whitney walked away from singing for 7 years and during that time she smokes cigarettes even more than before. David isn’t Whitney’s friend, he can’t comment on her personal life . All he knows is about her professional life. Would you like it if someone you only worked with tries to assume that you were doing damage to your career because of your personal life? Do you know how ignorant you sound? Celine can’t connect like Whitney could. But the thing is that even at the end, Whitney still sang live…can’t say that about Celine can you?

    Just sharing, All I can say in the US music industry its a common practice of recording companies to enhance the singers voice to sound good to listeners. Even Divas are not spared from that practice. have you not notice some singers sound differently during live performances. Some cannot replicate the same vocal power or other skillsets like vocal runs, belting, etc. try watching them when they perform outside the control of their recording company (studio and live performances). You will hear their natural voice and get their skill set level
