I made your checkered crochet bag. It took about 7 hours. It is just perfect and so cute! Your tutorial was super easy to follow. This is the first time I've followed a tutorial with no written pattern, and it was great.
Easy tutorial to follow! I highly recommend watching the whole video first she gives tips if this is one of your first project that I would have loved to watch before just going for it!! Bag is supper big and I love it !
im making this cute bag for when i go to florida i'm gonna use it as a little beach bag im so exited it looks so cute so far (im not done yet (but im super exited to be done)) and btw HAPPY MOTHERS DAYY 💗💗
Hey I’m on the straps and I’m a little bit confused, it looks like you are supposed to work into 3 squares, is the square that is on the side in the middle of the other 2 squares? or are the other 2 on one side of the side square? sorry if that was confusing, also it looks like you only worked into one square for the straps but in the ending it looks like you worked into 3! I’m a little confused what to do about that, thank you so much sorry is that was confusing, love the tutorial!
At the 7:48 i don't understand it , do we go around or we go straight in knitting it, i don't know if you understand what i am saying and pls. Reply because i really need dis
When you are changing color for the squares on the sides (a new row) - do you have to chain 2 (so it goes up in height) or do you just keep going in circles? Hope it makes sense😅 Because when you are making the bottom, you chain 2 when starting a new row
Hii I have a question, I’m on the second layer of the edge/circle and I’m stuck on the sides. I just didn’t understand if I’m supposed to change colors or not (I’m at the layer after what you did at 7:46 ) and one more thing I rll like your tutorial it’s amazing and tysm!!!♥️🫶🏻
Hey, you do the same color on top of itself for 4 rows and on the 5th row you change to have the opposite color on top of it. I hope that helps! I’m glad you like the tutorial! Good luck finishing the bag ❤️😊
Omg!!! Tysm for replying I rll appreciate it and yeah it rll rll helped and I definitely will come back to another one of your tutorials and videos!!! ♥️♥️🙏🏻
Of course. Just might want to add some stitches every square and you might have to make an extra row of squares to get it to be the same size, but you can definitely do that :)
I really loved the tutorial 💗 I recently started doing it but it got messed up idk why. But can you please tell me the total no of foundation chain , it'd really help me out.
Hello! I trying to follow your tutorial but it feels like my piece isn't really working so i wanted to consult you :) I made 3 lines of squares and now im at the 4th line but my work has a straight structure rather than a bag-like one. I think i couldn't understand how you got to the shape in 07:52. If there are any tips that you could give me it would be great! Thanks
The straight structure is correct for the first row of squares. When you have finished the fourth line of double crochets you start working in the round into every side of the straight structure. I hope that helps 😊
I'm planning on making this to match with an outfit I got I've been crocheting for around sum months now and I'm 10 I was finding more tuts on the checkered bag and i finally found the one I was looking for tysm.!!!!!!!!!! Ps:am very lazy and I have school I get no time TvT but ill try okay???
When starting the straps, do you only make a a slip knot with one color? If so, how do you reattach the other color to make the straps both colors again?
That so impressive that you are crocheting such a large project at 11! You should be very proud of yourself :) I hope you enjoy making the bag and thanks so much for subscribing.
Hello I am 11 years old and I learn crochet in the summer vacation and here I am working on the bag I hope to succeed and also how much did I use Yemeni threads means 2?
You make multiple stitches in each row. You have to see where you can place stitches in the side. The most important thing is that you have 12 in the end. I hope that helps.
You can, but if you use thicker yarn the bag will be bigger. So you might have to adjust the pattern a little bit. Make sure you also use the right hook for the yarn ❤️
Hi, I don’t know of any other way to hide the yarn while working with it. I recommend making tighter stitches and making sure your yarn is pulled through all the way before going to your next stitch. I hope that helps
Hi, if you don’t want squares you can just add however many extra chains you want to the starting chain of 60. If you do want squares you will have to add at least as many chains that will make up the bottom of the next square. So for example 12 extra chains for a 6th added square. Don’t forget to add the chain 2 after you have your desired amount of chains.
Hi, that’s the beginning of the video. The whole bag is made in one piece, so you have to do minimal sewing. You make the bottom first and then you work in the round to make the sides. I hope that helps :)
What do I do at the straps when the decrease has reached the point where it only has one stitch and I’ve reached the point where it’s going on to its last row of the squares. (I hope you understand what I’m saying)
Hey, do you mean when you have to change to a new color at the end of the row/the end of that square? Could you maybe tell me the timestamp in the video that you are having trouble with? Then I can help you a bit better :)
13:19 for here for the strap right we kept doing decreases at both end and eventually you would reach a part where you are only switching between the colours to get the length of your strap right. But right before the last row of switching between the colours and making my decrease (this is the third row by the way) I’ve reached the point where the decrease of the other colour no longer have two stitches to go into on the third row of changing colours to complete that square to reach to the part where I’m just going up to form the length of my strap
I think I get what you mean. You have to do a decrease and a color switch at the same time. So you start doing the second to last stitch in that color and when you have the last two loops on your hook your going to go into the last stitch and pull your other color through instead, then make that stitch until you have the last two loops left and then pull through all the loops of both stitches. I hope that helps :)
You only make one row on the first side, then you go around the base and do the first row on the other three sides. The instruction for the sides are at 4:03. :)
Yes they do. I’m not an expert but this yarn has a little bit of information that says it needs a 4 to 5 millimeter crochet hook. So if your yarn says that you have the right thickness.
Is there anything in particular that you don’t understand? Maybe I can help. I have also already helped a lot of people in the comments, maybe check those to see if they can help :)

It turned out pretty cute.
Yay! That’s actually pretty fast! Crocheting always takes me longer than I expect it to. I’m glad you like your bag!❤️
I tried this and it turned out perfectly!!
I’m so glad to hear that!!
Impressive tutorial! Very clear and also aesthetically pleasing.♥️
Thanks❤️

Hi, you just keep going around in circles to build up the sides of the bag. I hope that helps.
As an 11 year old who is dumber than a pencil in crochet tutorials I found this really helpful, well described and perfect for beginners!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! :)
Great tutorial thank you so much but when I colour switch do I cut the end of the dark pink?
Thanks! When you switch colors you don’t cut the other color, you work it into your stitches as you go. I hope that helps :)
@@IsabelPost thank you it makes sense now!! 💖
When you are changing color for the squares on the sides (a new row) - do you have to chain 2 (so it goes up in height) or do you just keep going in circles? Hope it makes sense😅
Because when you are making the bottom, you chain 2 when starting a new row
You don’t have to chain 2 when doing the sides, the height will just add itself by going in circles :)

what brand and type of yarn did you use? also ty this was really pretty and helpful
Hi, thanks so much! I use cotton yarn from two Dutch stores called the action and the zeeman.
I really loved the tutorial 💗
I recently started doing it but it got messed up idk why. But can you please tell me the total no of foundation chain , it'd really help me out.
Thanks so much! For the foundation chain you need 60 + 2 for the turning chains. I hope that helps 💗
09:26 - straps.
I love your vids :D 💕, I'll try this project!!
Thanks so much ❤️

Hi, after you made 60 chain and 2 chain more which first stich that you worked for your first double crochet? is that the 60th chain?
Yes, it’s the 60th chain :)
When starting the straps, do you only make a a slip knot with one color? If so, how do you reattach the other color to make the straps both colors again?
Yes, you attach the second color just like you did all the way at the beginning when you added it for the first time.
Im so confused like how did u get the other side ? Do i have to do it again ?
First you make the base and then you start going around it in circles. So you make all the sides of the bag at once. I hope that helps.
@@IsabelPost ohh, im sorry im 11 year old beginner, but you just earned a new subscriber, you so wonderful

How do you go in circles?
Hello, What’s size of ply the yarn and the hook? Thank u

Hi. Can I know the lengths (m) for each yarn? Since both of these yarns are about 120g
It’s about 180 meters per 120g :)
@@IsabelPost thank you 🌸

No problem 😊
how did you tied the bag together? like the bottom and the sides
You make the sides onto the bottom of the bag so, there is no need to attach after
@@IsabelPost thank you 💕
I would really like to ad a zipper but idk how to do it on this kind of beg 😢
Can i make this bag with a little thick yarn 😭❣️iam really confused rn please tell

so do i keep going around or do i chain 2 and do that same thing again?

@@IsabelPost alr thank you
is it okay to use only 100 grams for each color?

Hi, that’s the beginning of the video. The whole bag is made in one piece, so you have to do minimal sewing. You make the bottom first and then you work in the round to make the sides. I hope that helps :)
Hi, how many grams of yarn did you use?
Hi, I used about 150 to 200 grams of yarn :)
is this 4ply cotton yarn??? or 8ply
I’m not sure, it is worsted weight though.
@@IsabelPost thank you so much! I love your tutorials
Thanks so much!
Guys I don't get it... how do you make your work go around and hollow like a bag? Mine just looks flat
so i have to make another side an connect them? sorry i really dont get it
No, it’s all made as one piece. First you make the base (the bottom of the bag) and then you make the sides by going around the base.

@@IsabelPostokay thank you sooo much I’m gonna try these instructions and then tell you if it works out😊
How many meters yarn is used?
About 380 meters, but it depends on what yarn size you are using :)
hii is 100 grams of yarn for each color okay for this kind of project?
Yes 😊
Hi.. How many double crochet in the each side?
Hey, I don’t understand exactly what you mean, but it’s one double crochet in each stitch.
how do you transition to and connect the other side of the bag?
You make the sides around the base. So you don’t need to attach the sides, because you make them in a continued loop around the base :)
@@IsabelPost so when i complete the first side, which how do i go back to the bottom to start the other side
You only make one row on the first side, then you go around the base and do the first row on the other three sides. The instruction for the sides are at 4:03. :)
How much yarn required in it?
120 grams for each I think
Hi. Can I use 50 grams of yarn each only?
I think you’ll probably need at least 150 to 200 grams total.
how long does this take to make? its super cute
Thanks! I think it took me about 8 to 10 hours total :)
im on 4:11 and my bag started curving ;-; i dont know what to do lol
Do you mean the sides? Because those are supposed to be on an angle :)
If that’s not it, you can send me a picture on Instagram and I can see if I can help you figure it out :)
How do you make this bag smaller in size?
You make less squares when working on the base of the bag.
Can I make it in 1 color?
Yes, just ignore the color changes and keep going around with double crochets in one color :)
Did you say 16 or 60?
60 :)
