New Engine Water Pump from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1AEW...
This video shows you how to install a water pump on your 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. The water pump keeps coolant flowing through your engine. Common failures of the water pump will leave the coolant leaking, or stagnant. Both will lead to overheating if left untreated. Install a new engineered to fit water pump from TRQ for total peace of mind.

    2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Thank you for this video - it's very helpful, especially with the torque specs!
One observation: when installing the new o-ring gaskets, adding some sealer would help a lot because the scraping action at 16:06 can easily create leaks.

I wonder how much is the labor for this type of job?

What's the labor cost for the water pump change?

Do you have a part number for that seal on the back of that thermostat block? Neither Napa or O'Reilly's has a # for it.

Ok, I just performed this water pump change. Followed your directions and on start up, there is a howling noise, is it a balance shaft chain tensioner issue or a faulty new water pump?

I got the same thing probably we dry started it with out cranking water into it smh

    • @oldblueshhrchannel1847

Turned out, the balance shaft chain tensioner ratcheted tighter and the guide was the source of the howling. I suggest do not use the sprocket holder tool, take the front cover off to prevent the problem, remove the tensioner.

Was the demonstration vehicle a manual trans setup? My 2007 LT 2.2 with automatic doesn't have nearly the same access to the coolant pipe from below. That said, I was able to get to the thermostat bolts from the top, reaching over the passenger side.

My problem I believe is actually the crank gear for water pump. Any way to replace it without removing the entire timing cover?

    Great video.
    Thanks for sharing.
Did you say the water pump is driven by the timing chain? Actually it’s the balance shaft chain that drives the water pump sprocket. Just saying.
Does 1AAuto have a full water pump kit, with the necessary gaskets , orings ?

Shouldn't have to remove manifold if you have tool sprocket holder for water pump.

  • @Red4banger

Did you use the gear holder for the water pump to keep it from ratcheting tight? You didn't show it on the video. If you don't use the tool the water pump will have a whine noise while the engine is running. The noise is destroying the water pump gear, putting metal shavings in your motor.

Is this water pump beeing lubricated by the engine oil?

  • @daemonsilver3304
    @daemonsilver3304 5 месяцев назад

Not so helpful. Doesn't address the issue of holes in drive wheel of water pump not being properly aligned to bolt holes in timing socket.
