a tip i learned recently (I am far from being able to teach I'm not a beginner but I'd consider myself a novice) instead of having your fingers 123 on the A chord play it 213 so your index finger stays on the same string throughout the song. made it much easier for me to transition between chords!

D is tough with tired old fingers i am 75 just starting to learn. some time ago i lucked on a 1964 martin and i figure sitting in a case in the corner aint doin it any good, so i aim to learn a bit and see wht i can do. i would only play to please me and that aint to hard to do
That's great to hear ! you're never too young to learn!! My father-in-law is 74 and is just learning too ! A little tip: as the guitars get older the action changes, make sure yours is nice and low so and it will be easier on your fingers, also make sure the strings are fresh and new also a light gauge string will make things much more bearable as a beginner. If you're not sure about the action take it to a pro, it's not as expensive as you think and very worthwhile. If you're in the UK I can recommend someone that can help. Good luck 🎸
