To all you ppl having trouble getting your finges on the right string, changing chords, etc, let me please advise you, practice and practice and you WILL get there, do not give up if you really want to learn, its not easy, but you WILL do it if you practice, practice and practice!!! Oh by the way your singing might require more than practice! lol. This is a very good tutorial, and will help a lot of you to get some songs under your belt.
Patrick Ennis yeah listen to Patrick. A year ago I couldn’t play a chord. Now I’m learning full fingerstyle songs in less than a day... my friends think am a guitar god but I ain’t. They just don’t play. The hard work, sore fingers and teeth marks on my fretboard paid off. All you gotta do is do it. Just Like Nike
Patrick Ennis that is very true every time I’m learning a new chord I get mad cause I can’t play it fast enough but I just keep playing and now I just know like 7 chords that are hardwired into my brain
agressive advertising. I used to love you tube when there was no adverts or 3 to 5 sec adverts. Now I only like you tube. Its Saturated with aggressive adverts....they have ruined you tube. No more relaxing you tube. Shame.
I absolutely love this! I've been trying (and failing) to play the guitar for around 4 years now and was close to completely giving up. I found this video today and felt like I learned more in an hour than I did after years of guitar lessons. For once I actually enjoyed playing music and didn't lose hope near the end. I'm hoping that with more practice I can improve even more and start working on more complex things as well. Thanks!
Hi, Roselle. 🙋🏻♀️ Natalia here 😊 Always looking forward to connecting with other female acoustic musicians. Do you perform in live settings? I only ask because where I’m from there are less than a handful of female acoustic musicians that perform live!
8 am amazed no one teaches like this I love how you show the rhythm while going through the song n showing each step...thank you this is my problem area♥️
I am learning guitar from a famous person, kinda he’s my dad’s girlfriend’s nephew. He learned to play the guitar by RUclips. His name is Owen. This is my first day playing, and I already know for chord and I only took five minutes to get them all. He never seen anything like it in his life. He’s kind of a beginner to like him, but he will totally be on my channel. I hope he’s gonna be here in Texas for a whole summer. He lives in Louisiana. He’s helping my dad work. Great teaching. You played my favourite songs with just three chords. Since I'm on leave but cannot travel home from overseas due to the corona virus,I bought a guitar and I'm trying to play your songs with those three simple chords. Need to practice frequently, but this is motivation to kick start guitar playing. Thanks a million.
For the less experienced players, you can also play the Cadd9 instead of the C chord, if you find the transition from G to C too difficult and want to speed up learning these great songs 😎
This is actually my second time trying to learn guitar, first time around I was 15(28 now) I'd just play basic rock power chords or try lead guitar stuff from songs I like but in less than two months of learning proper chords and actually following scales rythem tutorials I've progressed so far! I mostly want to play metal but chords have opened up a whole load of song possibilities and like the video has shown me, I can play lots of songs with minimal chord knowledge and different patterns :) Thanks for the video!
Man I've been playing aimlessly for almost a year now and have completely struggled. Practicing at least an hour a day sometimes more and have had little to no success but this video has helped a lot. I'm not up to speed but can now play 10 songs. I stumbled onto the d,c,g trick and it led me to this video which really explained how to use it. Awesome stuff! That just kicked a door open in my mind and I'm finding other tricks out now. I'm so excited, thanks a bunch.
Really liked this video, great to work through to nail these simple chord changes. Brilliant to hear someone say: "Don't get obsessed with the down up, up down business" "Play how you hear it" Helped a lot, thanks.
Not just amazing teaching with a great method,He also can sing pretty decently and covers a variety of music. (clapping) (Not to mention great contact with his viewers)
Actually, I am a trainer, I teach Guitar oud and violin in Turkey but I wanted to develop my music archive about foreign songs but I liked this video thanks so much...
Might be easier to teach the "Sweet C chord" as well, since your teaching the "Sweet D chord" It's a much easier transition from G to C. For those who don't know how to play the "C chord" I'm talking about. All you do is play the four finger "G chord" and then just move both your 1st and 2nd fingers each down a string. So, same shape and same frets, you just jump your 1st and 2nd finger each down 1 string and you got a C chord.
You are absolutely brilliant to identify such motivational easy song for beginners. I have learned introduction to music theory from top guitar professor online, I have attended local guitar school which was stop of corona, I did hard to study chords by myself and was finally frustrated because all my attempt to play finger-style though songs like "10 million slaves" and other Tracy chapman songs by meyself. finally this comes to mativate me listen what i play! finally people who are around might get something tasty sound coming out! Thank you. I can play with the video in the first line
sorry im late, my other accounts been here a long time, but i've been playing for 10 months and you taught me smoke on the water, etc. Those one finger videos got me into guitar. So thanks. A lot. Then hotel california, heart shaped box, alive, enter sandman, nothing else matters and a whole lot more.
Idk why I clicked on this video, but the one song I learned from this video was freefallin, and I got it instantly. (I’ve been playing guitar for 4 months now, and I’m really getting into it)
Thank you very much. This video helped me break through my struggles with other beginner chords. Suddenly, they all work like a charm. Good luck and keep on practicing fellow beginners💪
shut up! Nah, I would never say that seriously. But SHIT! I have been at it considerably longer and still can't play more than four notes in a row on any frigging song. I can jam and make it decent if I don't get carried away and know when to stop, but ...I am terribly terrible. sigh. I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I was there to see all the great bands and partied with more than a few,,,big deal...I wanna play! I breathe rock and roll, it is in my soul. Now, if I can just get it to my fingers...ooo, I like that Knockin' on Heavens Door intro...wait, that's not me knockin'...I won't be ready till I get a whole song. I think I will add this guy to my heard of instructors. I will stick with it this time. My kids are nearly grown, my old man has passed, (he could play...miss you sweetie, wait for me, I will get it), I don't have to work any more...I am out of excuses! I have given up the idea of shredding, I am more realistic now...but it must be rock and roll, none of that (but I do like it..) "singer/song writer" stuff...Anybody have a suggestion? Besides "Sit down granny"...I have a buttload of guitars..I hang out with the kids too much, I know Okie dokie, back to practice.
Omg thank you soooo much I’m just learning to play the guitar and my sisters birthday is tomorrow and now I can play it absolutely flawlessly thanks sooooo much
The pace and explanations were excellent and natural. This is the first beginner video where I have felt I can actually play after 5 Min. A big thank you from me.
Love this lesson Lee and big thanks... you have helped me rediscover guitar and you have inspired me to take my own guitar tutorial channel to the next level. I'm doing play-along sing-along songs from all genres and decades, chords, strumming and lyrics. Keeping it simple. Thanks for the inspiration Lee. Cheers. 🎸👍👏👏👏
I've checked out a lot of you tube tutorials which are all good in their own way but some are a bit too advanced for someone (like me) starting virtually from scratch. Some of the songs feature chords I've never heard of and finger positions which require at least 3 hands! It was starting to demotivate me somewhat then I thought, surely I should just start slowly and play the basic chords and eventually grow from there. So I will nestle here for a while I think and just play some of these songs with G, C & D chords until I get more confident and advance to other chords. And yes, practice is the key but you don't want to get to the stage where it's a slog and you find excuses NOT to do it, especially when you feel like you're not progressing! Anyway, thanks for your tutorials Lee and for your willingness to teach with patience and an understanding of what a novice needs in a tutorial. Keep at it everyone, I'm going through the same stuff as you - sore fingers, frustration at not changing chords fast enough, buzzing strings, brain block. All good fun though!!
Superb video, thank you so much! I started playing the guitar 8 months ago, looking for fun, easy, feelgood songs to play at the campfire. With the Joker and Mr Big you really hit a homerun for me. Thank you for doubling my repertoire with these two gems ;)
Great lesson on three great songs from the early days of rock n roll. You have a wonderful teaching style, thank-you, Lee, and cheers, from Boston, MA, USA.
I almost quit practicing guiter. Lee, you got me motivated again. Everyday I get better. Thank you fo4 sharing your knowledge. I consider myself a beginner, but my confidence has increased. Tja k you again....
Right, that's enough of this. I'll be back tomorrow, to carry on. There's ANOTHER 1O to learn after ,that I'm exited about, but I'm gonna have a "twiddle" on the pentatonic scale tutorial, coz I just love bending n tripping around notes n scales. I ain't got long to live ,so I gotta learn alot, quick. Don't waste ya life dreaming kids. Live the dream ! Thanks Lee.😻
Thanks! Just wanted to comment a little. You help me get some of my easy stuff back. I have played before and I enjoyed watching and learning from you again. Thank you my friend I have left a tip and will continue.
I quite literally started yesterday under my dad's teaching, and I've only been doing g, c, and d. As this video shows, a lot of songs use these chords, so if you get comfortable changing chords, they should be pretty easy to play!
i have been struggling with learning for months now, after watching this vid with my guitar nearby. .i could play nearly all the songs, ..but singing while playing isn't that easy
Just keep playing the song. Eventually you won’t be thinking about the chords and strumming. It will all be muscle memory. Then you’ll be able to sing along. Don’t worry... it’s initially a challenge for everyone. It’ll come!
Nice thanks, My gf just started guitar and i'm trying to teach her some of the basic cords annnnd shes not having it/wants to jump right into Jimmy Page solos/facepalm. Vids like these show the importance of getting the basics down and how useful they are /maybe not "exciting" but are a must. -Cheers
Took up the guitar during the pandemic and found Super Easy Guitar with Lee John Blackmore. His easy 3 chord songs are great for beginners like me to actually make music. One thing that really works for me is to try and sing or in my case hum the words, while playing. It really completes the song. Thanks and keep posting those great videos.
I’m in high school and I took guitar class for a year ( the counselor found my song book in the library ig and put me in guitar class) and I learned more from this one video vs a whole year
Thank you I've learned to play guitar in three days I mean I now know how to use these 3 chords (G, C, D) to play any song it wouldn't sound similar but u can guess the song when I play.. Ill plan to learn more from u. thanks again 🥰
Great easy to follow tutorial. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise Lee with all these budding musicians. Practice makes perfect, so keep on keeping on folks! ❤️
Jamzilla, you will have to go through this as eventually the tips of your finges WILL harden up and you wont feel any pain and your C chord will become perfect and you will feel great and happy that you carried on playing
You could cheat and put a dab of crazy glue on each finger.... by the time it wears off you'll be used to the feeling. I didn't do it, but, I got some on my fingers during a project and it buffered the feeling in my fingertips.
I think you realize that anything that you do requires some initial pain. Just like ice skating when your ankles hurt so bad after that first day that you can barely walk. But you wait for 3 days for healing and then you start up again. Eventually your fingers will have hard calluses on them and they will never hurt again. Unless you quit playing
Thanks, Boss.Taking a break from the endless struggle with barre chords... but I console myself by remembering that two years ago I couldn't play any of these. Now they seem easy, natural... so I hope that the effing F chord will soon. It's killing me and I've been working in F, B, B minor for MONTHS. Grrrrr....
Thank you for giving us a thorough step by step instructions. You’re good! Can you please show us how to play “Heart of Gold” by Neil Young? Than you a million in advance.
I've been working at playing some songs for a few years. And watched several videos online. but this video broke the process down nicely and in such a way that I can play a few cool songs. Thank you

Can we all take a minute to give thanks for Lee John Blackmore AND The Time Stamp Guy for making the world a better place?
Yeaaaah! The time stamp guy!

Just wanted to comment a little. You help me get some of my easy stuff back. I have played before and I enjoyed watching and learning from you again. Thank you my friend I have left a tip and will continue.
Thanks you so much I really appreciate it! Keep playing my friend 😎🎸👍
I play ukulele and banjo, now I am learning to play guitar!
Thanks for this. Just what I needed. Been playing 45 years and just took on my very first student.
Great lesson, I just bought an acoustic and learning with your videos.
Congrats dude! Good luck on your new guitar journey!! 😎👍🎸
I quite literally started yesterday under my dad's teaching, and I've only been doing g, c, and d. As this video shows, a lot of songs use these chords, so if you get comfortable changing chords, they should be pretty easy to play!
Im near 50yrs too new beginner to guitar.make life fun :) thanks for making it all so easy....god bless u! :)
I'm 41 and learning for/with my kids.
Me too nearly 50..cant imagine 50 would cine so fast!
cheers Lee, I am teaching a real newbie and wanted some songs he would know in 3 chords to get him going and give him some confidence, brill stuff!
😁👍🎸 you're very welcome
i have been struggling with learning for months now, after watching this vid with my guitar nearby. .i could play nearly all the songs, ..but singing while playing isn't that easy
yea,same.
Just keep playing the song. Eventually you won’t be thinking about the chords and strumming. It will all be muscle memory. Then you’ll be able to sing along. Don’t worry... it’s initially a challenge for everyone. It’ll come!
@@WildBill1120 thanks ☺
Just picked up the guitar again after 10+ years off and forgetting everything. This is fantastic to get strumming again. Thank you ☺️
You're very welcome!
I’m in high school and I took guitar class for a year ( the counselor found my song book in the library ig and put me in guitar class) and I learned more from this one video vs a whole year
Great work 👍🎸 now keep going!
Thank you I've learned to play guitar in three days I mean I now know how to use these 3 chords (G, C, D) to play any song it wouldn't sound similar but u can guess the song when I play.. Ill plan to learn more from u. thanks again 🥰
You are very thorough and efficient in your explanation. Also sounds nice and clean. Will check out more of your lessons. Appreciate it.
I need more easy songs. Lol
Great easy to follow tutorial. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise Lee with all these budding musicians. Practice makes perfect, so keep on keeping on folks! ❤️
Thanks! Enjoy 👍🎸
I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy....I'm still on the first song C chord and my index finger is done bro RIP
Bro, just practice it 😁 my D chord has a problem, it doesn't sound right (though my guitar is alright and tuned)
Watching during my short break. Can’t wait to practice this at home tonight!!
This is what i was looking for...an easy way to learn.Thank you man you're a good teacher,I really appreciate it.
Cool video. Incredible how different songs can sound using the same 3 chords, even in the same pattern.
Thank you very much. I learned a lot.
I love your voice when you are singing.. down down up... lol.. so nice to listen to :) Thank you!
Made my family think I was a god at playing guitar on these, thanks man
Playing these along on my keyboard for some perspective, and enjoying it. Thanks
MAGIC MATE KEEP IT COMING. LOVING IT.
Thanks Roy👍🎸
You are amazing! Thank you! I have paid for so many and they go so fast I was ready to give up! Thank you! Appreciate your talent!
Thank you very much you’re very welcome
Nice one! At some point, could you do a video about different strumming/picking techniques? Also some Black Keys please! 🙏
I've been working at playing some songs for a few years. And watched several videos online. but this video broke the process down nicely and in such a way that I can play a few cool songs. Thank you
Enjoy Greg ! Keep going with it 👍
