To all you ppl having trouble getting your finges on the right string, changing chords, etc, let me please advise you, practice and practice and you WILL get there, do not give up if you really want to learn, its not easy, but you WILL do it if you practice, practice and practice!!! Oh by the way your singing might require more than practice! lol. This is a very good tutorial, and will help a lot of you to get some songs under your belt.

Patrick Ennis yeah listen to Patrick. A year ago I couldn’t play a chord. Now I’m learning full fingerstyle songs in less than a day... my friends think am a guitar god but I ain’t. They just don’t play. The hard work, sore fingers and teeth marks on my fretboard paid off. All you gotta do is do it. Just Like Nike

I am learning guitar from a famous person, kinda he’s my dad’s girlfriend’s nephew. He learned to play the guitar by RUclips. His name is Owen. This is my first day playing, and I already know for chord and I only took five minutes to get them all. He never seen anything like it in his life. He’s kind of a beginner to like him, but he will totally be on my channel. I hope he’s gonna be here in Texas for a whole summer. He lives in Louisiana. He’s helping my dad work. It’s a pleasure to have him here.

This is actually my second time trying to learn guitar, first time around I was 15(28 now) I'd just play basic rock power chords or try lead guitar stuff from songs I like but in less than two months of learning proper chords and actually following scales rythem tutorials I've progressed so far! I mostly want to play metal but chords have opened up a whole load of song possibilities and like the video has shown me, I can play lots of songs with minimal chord knowledge and different patterns :) Thanks for the video!

Might be easier to teach the "Sweet C chord" as well, since your teaching the "Sweet D chord" It's a much easier transition from G to C. For those who don't know how to play the "C chord" I'm talking about. All you do is play the four finger "G chord" and then just move both your 1st and 2nd fingers each down a string. So, same shape and same frets, you just jump your 1st and 2nd finger each down 1 string and you got a C chord.

shut up! Nah, I would never say that seriously. But SHIT! I have been at it considerably longer and still can't play more than four notes in a row on any frigging song. I can jam and make it decent if I don't get carried away and know when to stop, but ...I am terribly terrible. sigh.
I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I was there to see all the great bands and partied with more than a few,,,big deal...I wanna play! I breathe rock and roll, it is in my soul. Now, if I can just get it to my fingers...ooo, I like that Knockin' on Heavens Door intro...wait, that's not me knockin'...I won't be ready till I get a whole song.
I think I will add this guy to my heard of instructors. I will stick with it this time. My kids are nearly grown, my old man has passed, (he could play...miss you sweetie, wait for me, I will get it), I don't have to work any more...I am out of excuses! I have given up the idea of shredding, I am more realistic now...but it must be rock and roll, none of that (but I do like it..) "singer/song writer" stuff...Anybody have a suggestion? Besides "Sit down granny"...I have a buttload of guitars..I hang out with the kids too much, I know
      Okie dokie, back to practice.

I've checked out a lot of you tube tutorials which are all good in their own way but some are a bit too advanced for someone (like me) starting virtually from scratch. Some of the songs feature chords I've never heard of and finger positions which require at least 3 hands!
It was starting to demotivate me somewhat then I thought, surely I should just start slowly and play the basic chords and eventually grow from there.
So I will nestle here for a while I think and just play some of these songs with G, C & D chords until I get more confident and advance to other chords.
And yes, practice is the key but you don't want to get to the stage where it's a slog and you find excuses NOT to do it, especially when you feel like you're not progressing!
Anyway, thanks for your tutorials Lee and for your willingness to teach with patience and an understanding of what a novice needs in a tutorial.
Keep at it everyone, I'm going through the same stuff as you - sore fingers, frustration at not changing chords fast enough, buzzing strings, brain block. All good fun though!!

Just keep playing the song. Eventually you won’t be thinking about the chords and strumming. It will all be muscle memory. Then you’ll be able to sing along. Don’t worry... it’s initially a challenge for everyone. It’ll come!

Just picked up the guitar again after 10+ years off and forgetting everything. This is fantastic to get strumming again. Thank you ☺️

Nice thanks, My gf just started guitar and i'm trying to teach her some of the basic cords annnnd shes not having it/wants to jump right into Jimmy Page solos/facepalm. Vids like these show the importance of getting the basics down and how useful they are /maybe not "exciting" but are a must. -Cheers

Took up the guitar during the pandemic and found Super Easy Guitar with Lee John Blackmore. His easy 3 chord songs are great for beginners like me to actually make music. One thing that really works for me is to try and sing or in my case hum the words, while playing. It really completes the song. Thanks and keep posting those great videos.

Bro, just practice it 😁 my D chord has a problem, it doesn't sound right (though my guitar is alright and tuned)

Jamzilla, you will have to go through this as eventually the tips of your finges WILL harden up and you wont feel any pain and your C chord will become perfect and you will feel great and happy that you carried on playing

You could cheat and put a dab of crazy glue on each finger.... by the time it wears off you'll be used to the feeling. I didn't do it, but, I got some on my fingers during a project and it buffered the feeling in my fingertips.

I think you realize that anything that you do requires some initial pain. Just like ice skating when your ankles hurt so bad after that first day that you can barely walk. But you wait for 3 days for healing and then you start up again. Eventually your fingers will have hard calluses on them and they will never hurt again. Unless you quit playing

Thanks, Boss.Taking a break from the endless struggle with barre chords... but I console myself by remembering that two years ago I couldn't play any of these. Now they seem easy, natural... so I hope that the effing F chord will soon. It's killing me and I've been working in F, B, B minor for MONTHS. Grrrrr....
