I was an extra in this it was a blast, great set & crew other than Joel Silver. I was on the operating table when Melissa uses her camcorder & I also run with the inmates in the lockdown. Filmed in 98 it feels a lifetime ago
Ok so my friend showed me your channel and the human centipede videos you did and holy macadamia you are the funniest guy to review a movie I subbed and turned on notifications. Oh man I'm looking forward to your channel and all the great videos you have in store
Great break down and review of the movie. I like the vibe that we are actually hanging out and talking about the movie. Put you ahead of the rest. LOL The ghost voice at the end, Netflix and kill .
I love the opening to this movie. The pipe organ with the quick images that looked like something out of a NIN or Tool video. Still 1 of my top all time intros to any movie.
9:59 A deleted scene answers this. The House actually gets the other descendent that didn't show (Jennifer Jenzen) by saying she inherited the house from a relative and the scene ends with her screaming.
I gotta say, the ghost actively melting the lady was pretty cool. Sure it's silly by today's standards (or just practical effect standards in general), but it gave me chills for a good moment there!
@@judsongaiden9878 I used to own a SIG P-250 9mm. I sold it for a profit when we had a baby, as I had other arms already. It was the best firearm I ever owned, period.
huh i have seen the original house on haunted hill with vincent price. so far that story was better than this one, i honestly didn't think i have the remake to house on haunted hill till i watched this video and i vaguely remember seeing it. honestly the original was better, might have been cheesey for it was in black and white yet it was better psychological. we never see any actually ghosts and the part of the husband and wife trying to kill each other is like in the remake though different in the original. nicely done
I’m going back and watching old videos. I really liked this movie when it came out. I was sold when I saw Jeffery Combs, Famike Jenson and a slew of other popular actors for the time were in the movie. I think it was a perfect horror flick for the time period because I think late 90s and early 2000s horror flicks had their own vibe.
This came out on video when I was a freshman in high school, and a friend rented it for a slumber party. Now for 13 year-olds this was legit scary enough, esp at the start. After the opening scene one person went upstairs and never came back and by the rollercoaster the rest of us were huddled on a couch cowering under a blanket. So I have to say that despite its flaws I still love it on a nostalgic level. I feel like it would have been better overall if the last act had been done differently (the CG inkblot monster just ages it so hard). Even back then it felt underwhelming. It did make me go looking for more horror by this filmmaker over the years because of this, though, but a lot of the best atmosphere in this movie did not translate to later projects.
I've only caught the very end of this movie years ago and always thought that the ghost creature effect would be great for a Lovecraftian movie since it's almost indescribable.
I saw this movie when it first came out. 99? So I was 9. It scared the SHIT out of me. That jittery demon that killed the camera girl, the scooped out skull, the shit in the water tank. I had legit night terrors that night. Sweat. Shortness of breath. I remember turning my light on and getting out of bed and turn on HBO comedy specials. No movie has made me feel this way since. Not even remotely close. Which is a good thing. Though I was pretty scared of Freddy Kreuger as a child.
After seeing that dark ghost for the first time and the cut out face I had nightmares as well as a kid I always had the covers over my head so afraid thinking that ghost would come into my room!!!!!!
I saw this about 20 years ago during Halloween horror night in cinema (great the shown 4 horror movie in a row) and years later I saw the original with Vincent Price. The Blu Ray of that 60's (or 50's William Castle directed ..it was old.. I found both versions amazing in their storytelling.. you can see (or know) Geofrey Rush is representing Price he is called Stephen Price and looks the same and had the same voice and behaviour (an excelent choice and great actro for reclaiming Price as it is) and the other cast members (Famke Janssen doing her part as it is in horror classics as Deep rising (I also like a lot) and saw formilair faces.. Omar epps, Ali later I dont know pershaps but brings back memories to horror movies as the were when I was a kid and I loved it..and later I saw the originals and the paid more attention to homages to them as one would see or critize.. Those are my movies.. love
Me also, ever since I saw it as a kid still a favorite and definitely a guilty pleasure. I don't know why, even after seeing it a million times. The people who made it based the idea to make remakes from classics by the Williams Castle. The Original maker of house on haunted hill and the 13th ghosts which is why the company who made them is Dark Castle.
Too bad they didn't show it in the film, but in the script those two investigators in the beginning (where you see them examining all those corpses) actually came across the vat of blood. Though, why it hasn't dried up or at least congealed/coagulated is beyond me.
I love this movie still I remember when I was little first seeing that dark skeleton ghost gave me nightmares especially the first part seeing it wiggle out when the door was first seen you get that heart throb scare I remember that!!!!! I just add the blue ray and rewatched that part my heart just literally stops and throbs seeing that door cause I know what's behind it is the monster that freaked me out as a kid!!!!!! I love the effects taking it for what it is movies can't do they're best to make it look that cool and great for what it is and they pulled it off so well and Mr Pritchar made me laugh so hard as an adult!!!!!! Very great movie and ali larter looked great as Sarah the first one played by ali I fell in love with......also that scene seeing where Melissa sees that monster was scarred in my mind for life
Who would weld magazines into snazzy two-tone SIG/Sauer pistols? And why do idiots refer to magazines as "clips?" A clip is a device, other than a speedloader, used for loading a magazine or cylinder.
I loved this movie as a kid, id always jam out to the Marilyn Manson intro because I didn't have the CD. Ah the says when you had to have a CD, I don't miss em'.
I had this on VHS, and still get a nice bit of geekgasm when I realized that the screaming underwater ghost with the long hair at 10:49 is a reuse of Dick Smith's "horror screamer with nice tits " that went unused , from 1981's GHOST STORY. I'm just glad she got her moment in the "sun", so to speak.
😂😂😂 I just want to let everybody know that I'm a chicken when it come to horror and thriller and yet I'm sitting through this (and many of his reviews on horror films ) cause this guy is just so damn funny, I listen to the review but 90% of this video my eyes are on my nails so I can sleep tonight lol
Supposedly the "broken " track is a hydraulic raml that opens for the fake car with dummies. The break "resets" for the actual car. This is probably the most unbelievable part of the movie for me. I can accept ghosts, but miracle engineering bugs me.
When the house burned down.. Five people survived.. The house wanted it's' five people back..As if it was owed Five deaths... Not sure how that played out in the Movie. As Two got away.... Maybe in Return to House on Haunted Hill fixed that...
I saw this with my high school girlfriend down in the closest theater which was Troy, Alabama back in '99. I agree, it's very flawed, but still good comfort food.
The surprising of this movie isn't any like any western ghost movie that I have seen in the last twenty years, it has a resolution sure, but the Asylum is still haunted, still a danger to anyone that dares to come inside, and the only two survivors have uncertain ending, because. How they would come down? This movie really remind me of J Horror, like Ju On The Grudge, hell, not even fall to the common troupes on falling in Christian mythology to explain the ghosts. It has a lot of J Horror troupes, like the ghost being beyond human understanding, manipulating the human to come to their hunting grounds.
I guess it's a no bee movie. What's odd about it is that you can see the potential for scares even as they're blowing it. Not quite a guilty pleasure, it passes the time, though the roller coaster guy eats the scenery while the others are yawn. I hate to see a scare-hard script blown. Right? OooooOooooo!
I like this movie a lot, it’s a bit of slightly creepy fun. I have to say though - what party guest wouldn’t instantly shelve any other plan they may have had for a million bucks? Only my own funeral would keep me away from that kind of cash 😄
I'll just pile on with the "Yeah it's a guilty pleasure" crowd. I know it's bad...but every time it comes on cable I watch at least a half hour if not the whole thing.
would i spend the night in a "haunted" house for 1 million dollars?? lmfao. are you kidding me.. you may as well say "would you spend the night inhabited by the actual santa clause for a million dollars?"....UM YEAH.. there is 100% no such thing as "haunted" lmfao
I was an extra in this it was a blast, great set & crew other than Joel Silver. I was on the operating table when Melissa uses her camcorder & I also run with the inmates in the lockdown.

That's awesome! Have you been in anything else?
Who is Joel silver and what was his problem?
You were in the best part of the movie!
This movie deserves more love
That's really cool! I always wanted to be an extra in a movie

This is one of the few horror movies I've seen where the black guy not only doesn't die first but makes it all the way to the end.
3:17 blockbuster VCR tapes, that brings back memories.
I just found your channel and I'm glad I did. Awesome reviews!
Great break down and review of the movie. I like the vibe that we are actually hanging out and talking about the movie. Put you ahead of the rest.
LOL The ghost voice at the end, Netflix and kill .
Comfort food that gives you heartburn...love that description!
I love the opening to this movie. The pipe organ with the quick images that looked like something out of a NIN or Tool video. Still 1 of my top all time intros to any movie.
Definitely a guilty pleasure. One of my early horror that'll I'll never stop enjoying secretly ;)
Such a newbee. Dont tell your secret in internet.

When ally shoots price she fires 23 shots but a glock has only 17 shots
You know a tad to much about guns and that scares me
It's not a Glock. It's a SIG/Sauer P228. Standard flush-fit mags for that model hold 15 rounds.

If the guy owns a gun then I think it would be scary if he didn’t know about them.

Loved Geoffrey Rush, he reminded me of Vincent Price. The music was cool. It's campy but that's what I like about it.
I swear you are one of the funniest RUclips's ever 😹Edit 7:50 Damn Girl Overkill Much

that scene after the end credit, still freaks me out
this reminds me of joey graceffa's series lmao your reviews are downright the funniest things ever
still one of my fav horror movies as a kid
I wondered about the door on that chamber and the spinning wall too! I decided the material is a sailcloth like material and the slits stretch.
Would I stay in a haunted house for a night for a million dollars?! Yes. As long as it doesn't get all killy killy!
🤣

It's a fancy area where you can get hot and cold running blood right to your door!
I may have read it on IMDB , possibly on the DVD extras
