As someone asked for the template of the knife, I've uploaded it to my website. I'm sure you wouldn't want to use my design but if you like the profile of the knife then you can use that with your own internal design. Print the knife at 100% size to make a knife the same size as mine or scale it to suit. You can find it here paskmakes.com/plans/
@@lilycamillewolf8086 Well it's July, so I guess your birthday is around this date. I'm well into my 75th year, and I can reassure you that 50 is *nowhere near* "officially old".
Love the knife design. My 15 year old son and his Dad (my hubby) make knives. Will j have to show them this design! Welcome to Club 50! Just hit mine end of June. We aren't getting old, just wiser! Have a great holiday.
I'm really glad to see you make this piece the old fashion way and not on a CNC machine like a lot of makers are using these day. Anything made on a CNC machine just cannot be called "handmade". Of course if your in production mode for a big profit CNC's are useful. Really nice work here!
First things first, mate. Happy Birthday! I'll be joining you in the 50 club next month. Hope the your second 50 are as good as your first. Now, to the knife, she's a beaut! Really like that one, Neil.
I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. If you have not seen it, Knew Concepts makes fret and coping saws with a unique tensioning device. It's possible to put so much tension on the blade that you can snap it, but you can also tension it so that there is very little flex.
Your sense of proportion is really top notch. That’s something that can’t easily be trained you just have to have the eye for it. I’ve seen a lot of custom knives - an old girlfriend of mine was a high end knife maker and, in the world of tactical knives especially, proportion is probably the most important design element. Your knife is fantastic and I really admire the careful hours you put into it. It’s cool that the RUclips channel has made it possible for you to make money on a project like this. These days craftsmanship this meticulous in the knife world are reserved for a handful of people at the top who have tens of thousands into their equipment and branding. Or to the few, poor, dedicated smiths that do it for the calling. The quiet dignity you experienced when filing and sawing and sanding is heavily underrated and undervalued in the modern age. Chasing that feeling is what my life is about! Kudos!
Thanks very much for that! I am very lucky that I'm allowed to spend my time doing these kind of projects for a living, I honestly do realise that. I agree entirely that the processes in this project is where the enjoyment of making is, at least for me anyway! :)
Those of us who are still only 49 really can't appreciate how old 50 is! ;) Happy birthday, hope you packed some winter woolies for the southern weather. It's been a bit cool down south lately.
Nice work. I'd've chucked that in the bin halfway through filing the first letter! Happy Birthday, young feller, and enjoy your break in Tassie. I'll give a generalised wave out to the Southern Ocean from Warrnambool.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying the fine tool work. Your videos are always informative and entertaining. Thank you for sharing.. And Happy Birthday!!!!!
No.., you're not crazy, listening to a good book, one could quickly get in the zone and time is no longer a factor. For something that's only piece, there is a lot more time and effort gone into this knife than something with scales, bolster etc, a lot of intricate work gone into it and it shows. It doesn't matter if you're shoveling sheep manure as long as you are enjoying the task, your work ethic and attitude towards going the extra mile is infectious. Keep up the great videos, I have binged watched all your uploads, found them to be very enjoyable and relaxing. BTW.. Have a great Birthday young man.
Inside every 50 year old is a 20 year old wondering what happened. Happy Birthday. great knife, your far braver than I am doing your first freehand grind on a knife you put all those hours into before grinding it.
great work! i'm an amateur knife maker myself. been doing it a few years but you have so much natural talent i kind of hate you. that file work is so crisp and your bevels are spot on. beautiful knife, mate.
Happy Birthday and welcome to the Chapter "Now it´s getting even better" of your life! Greetz from Germany and thank you - your projects are highly appreciated!
You’re one of the few makers on RUclips that says, “it’s not the best but I’m okay with it,” and I like that a lot. And I love the knife! Make a leather sheath for it?
if I make a suggestion, you can print inverse of the image with dark lines on a laser printer and than spray adhesive the print to the work piece ink side down. the key is to than soak and wipe the paper off. the toner with transfer to the adhesive.
First and foremost, the best of health and happiness to you and yours on your 50th trip around the Sun. As a maker I know there is always a tendency to think/know you could have a done a better job. That is what drives improvement and it is a great trait in the realm of creativity. But, man! You can sure make a ton of cool things and regardless of how complex it may actually be, you do such a good job of making it all seem straight forward and attainable. Thanks for everything you have done and continue to do. Pure genius!
Happy birthday! I hope all our positive reactions on your wonderful work and your great channel feel like a birthday present. Because every time you upload your video it feels like a present for me and I know for sure for many all around the world!
Happy birthday sir, I been watching a lot in RUclips regarding steel worker, wood worker, but you sir have it all, you are such a versatile person, you encounter some challenges in your video but you show how to handle and fixed the situation very professional, ggodluck
Wonderful. I also love this kind of work that although time consuming requires less concentration than patience and skill. Congratulations on your work and birthday.
I enjoy watching your videos just as much as I enjoy hearing you talk. You have such a great voice! I think you bring a unique creative perspective to the world. Thanks for everything you are doing, it’s top quality
It's almost like you needed a swing out seat on your bench. Awesome job mate, I even thought it looked pretty awesome before you bought out the jeweller's saw. Engraved lines, and the holes would look pretty cool also.
Who needs laser cutting when you have Neil? Who needs Netflix when you have Neil? I'm amazed at your level of patience and artistic detail. Thank you for inspiring us all and Happy Birthday!
Broooo! Wow god damn true artist. You never cease to amaze me. What a remarkable patience, dedication and love for what ever you do. Seriously I’m impressed. So glad I found your channel. I admire you my friend. Keep it up and happy birthday! Greetings from Toluca, México.
So much dedication and patience. A virtue and great example the new generation can model itself on. And really nice craftsmanship as well. Well done sir.
I was hoping you'd choose your maker knife. You've inspired me to dust off my scroll saw and make something. Also.... Happy 50th!!! I hit 47 on the 13th, so I feel you on the "getting older" front. When I visit my 97 year old grandfather, I realize that "young" and "old" are all states of mind. You cannot stop the body from aging, but we can still be young! Cheers!
You've become one of my favorite makers, with Clickspring. I like the interesting projects and calm confidence. You may not know how something is going to turn out but you try, and you don't yell at me.
Beautiful job sir. Not sure if I have the patience for the hand filing. Recently, I was faced with the task of filing the inside shapes of an eight-spoke flywheel for a Stirling engine. What I did, was to adapt my cheap scroll saw to accept junior hacksaw blades. I then used strong double-sided tape to stick some emery cloth to the blades and used the contraption as a make-shift die filer. It ran a bit fast, but worked surprisingly well. Love your methods, where you use left-overs and stuff lying around to make worthwhile projects. Happy Birthday. I got to 60 in May. My brain still tells me that I am 18, my body disagrees...
The book you were listening to made me think of the History of Rome and History of Byzantium podcasts. They’re incredible! Many, many hours of enjoyment. They discuss the steppe tribes frequently. Fascinating bit of history!
Happy birthday mate!! I'll be 50 in January - sucks, doesn't it??? Yet we have done quite a bit and had lot's of fun - and yet more to come! :) Keep up the wonderful work. It's a joy to see your work. So let me bless you with many wonderful and creative years ahead. Have fun! Saar
As always, absolutely beautiful work my friend! Happy Birthday Neil!....wishing you all the best. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time....stay safe and have fun!
Amazing patience and skill. The knife looks beautiful. Respect to you for what must have taken hours and hours.....one slip with that angle grinder could have been interesting 👍
Happy Birthday, my friend! Hope you had a great time. Great project, you have a lot of patience on this one. Turned out really nice. Thanks for sharing.

I actually loved the knife profile, thanks
the design would look more consisten if you make the surface of the blade also hollow (mayb add the work PASK on the Blade and the rest on the handle)
Really awesome love this knife thumbs up my friends
Don't say that, I'll be 50 in July! :)
@@lilycamillewolf8086 Well it's July, so I guess your birthday is around this date. I'm well into my 75th year, and I can reassure you that 50 is *nowhere near* "officially old".
Happy birthday ... continue to be successful and, above all, stay healthy
Good to see someone doing it by hand and not using CNC etc.
Love how the time lapse makes the jeweler saw look automatic lmao
Tape on the back of the sandpaper is such a clever idea. Love your videos, I've watched a dozen or so over the last week.
Love the knife design. My 15 year old son and his Dad (my hubby) make knives. Will j have to show them this design! Welcome to Club 50! Just hit mine end of June. We aren't getting old, just wiser! Have a great holiday.

Thanks Patrick! I'll check those saws out! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My favourite bit about your videos is your patience. You're obviously in flow!
Really nice knife. I think I would leave the P and A as they are.
Good job.
Happy birthday Neil. Have fun and appreciate your wife for giving you all the time to play in your workshop. All the best from South Africa

Patience of a saint.
I really like the shape of that knife. Very nice

Pask... picks most difficult one for fun. Makes knife. Looks amazing. That's my man!
Craftsman and artist. And no fancy CNC etc. just very patient handwork. A joy to watch your work. Thank you.
You can be sure that the knife is a one of a kind, because hardly anyone is as crazy as you and will do so much work. I like it. very inspiring!
Beautiful job Neil! Happy Birthday too :)

Fantastic job - you are definitely more patient than most. Happy birthday and welcome to Tassie!
Happy birthday, Neil. I really enjoyed this video, but I think I'll pass on making one myself! You'll love Tassie!

Look at a scrollsaw with jewelers blades to get those intricate cuts.

Thanks Dale. I've done that before on wood but the method I used only took 5 minutes and is much clearer than a transferred print would be. :)
Happy Birthday Pask!! one doesn't get old, it gets wiser!

It looks beautiful I love you did it by hand and not with the CNC
Couldn't agree more.
CNC is too techno pumped , it has no soul..
Consensual non consent?
Don't judge me, this is what tumblr has done to me.
It's almost like you needed a swing out seat on your bench. Awesome job mate, I even thought it looked pretty awesome before you bought out the jeweller's saw. Engraved lines, and the holes would look pretty cool also.
Another quality product out of the Pask Shop, and happy 50th Neil! Enjoy Tazzy. Ps take your woolies lol
Showed us the book he's currently listening to, said it was good, and somehow NOT an Audible ad. Favorite youtuber.
Happy birthday.
Great book.
Great knife
A true artist and master craftsman like yourself is never happy with their finished work. The rest of us stand in awe.

I'm late to the party, but seeing the holes drilled ready for filing really hit the spot for me @2:03. So unique that it could be a design by itself.

Wow, she's a beaut! Happy Birthday and wishes for many more! 50 isn't old, I'm only a few years off from there myself. :D
