I had a sneak peak and I'm still blown away! The only thing cooler than the mallet is watching you make it - truly amazed by the variety of skills! And the Sub - Scribe was perfect touch!
This is my kind of channel. Making quality tools with metal and other materials. Too many people these days can’t do things like this. They don’t know how to use a metal lathe and other tools to accomplish quality results. Good work!
I was so confused watching this.I was completely captivated but none of it was registering in my brain. When you started turning, I actually had to start all over because I thought it was leather and I had no idea you could sand or turn leather. I got further confused by the white plastic looking bar and the giant bar of soap. I understood NOTHING, yet I could not look away! That is how videos should be made!
I have made a maul with 3" nylon cylinder. but with wooden handle. I didn't know it can made of leather. I also made the same mistake, there shouldn't be a dome nut on top. It should be plain flat. b'se i didn't getba flat top bolt with 2" round plate😥 Have to make one more
Very nice! Though I feel like I've maybe seen someone else turn leather before.... Just can't think of who? The mail turned out FANTASTIC, and video did an excellent job of showing it off.
I have downloaded several of your videos to watch later, but tried a dozen times to download this one on the leather maul and it gets stuck and won't download. Not sure if it's on my end or your end, but I would really like to get it. Thanks
A little late yet I have to ask, how much weight at the maul end did this end up being? Was it enough or did you re adjust the brass washers to adjust?
Awesome, loved watching this!! Very cool. I am a woodturner and work a little with leather. I want to turn my own maul, where did you purchase the nylon?
Great lathe work. I have a 12x36 wood lathe. I was going to get into metal lathing but things happen and time was not on my side. I continue to enjoy the wood lathe when I can. Very nice leather crafts mail. Did you build it for leather crafts or for sale?
I’ve never seen a router bit used on a toolpost like that. Very creative for something like brass!
That looks as good as a Barry King maul

Who is the maker of your wood lathe? Jim
Hey Jim. It is a Delta commercial version made in the early 90's. Thanks for watching!
Very cool

Hey Richard! I made it to use and it has become my favorite tool for leatherwork over the past year or so. Thanks for watching!
That is nuts that you made your own nuts!!
😂 getting nutty around here!
First, YEEEE HAAAWWWW!
Next, very sweet project it turned out fantastic!
Last, the sub scribe was neat!
Thanks Jeff!
Awesome just like Barry King ))
Thank you! They were my inspiration for this build!
Wow.
Thank you!
Fast forward is no replacement for good editing
Damn…so nice
Thanks!
Now make a tapered one!
I made one after this build. I feel like the one I made could use a steeper taper. Any idea what the normal angle of taper they are?
Honestly I don't have any tools to help measure mine. But you could check on Amazon at some mauls that are tapered and see the specs on them.
Shiny nuts you got there!
I should...I spent hours polishing them 😂
