I have definitely been guilty of this for many years. I think you should cut your hair when you feel ready. Thats when it really looks good on you I think. I personally just want getting my confidence from my hair anymore and so wanted a lighter change. Howevr if youre not there don;t force yourself to cut your hair when you're not 100% into it yet.

I always think clients that always wear their hair up are great candidates for a short cut. Because if you like the way you look with essentially no volume around your head (slick hair back) you wil absolutely love the added volume of hair as a bob and its so much easier to take care of than long hair.
After my last bleach and color I had much hair break off 48 hours later at my first wash. :( So much broke that I chose to trim 3" off to a bob, so I could feel a little better about it. YOUR bob in this cover thumbnail looks GREAT. Well done. :) Makes me feel even better about my new length, while I'm sure mine will take three years to build what little bulk my fine, thin hair had. I was loving the extra bulk the blonde had given me, (it was a fun 7 months of having thicker hair.) I suspect the culprit in my case was too much product getting applied afterwards. Less is best with my thin, fine hair and I asked the stylist revert back to only, bleach, color, shampoo and conditioner and NO extra products afterwards. I think it sat on my hair for 48 hours which turned my hair to slime when I washed it. Much hair is 1/4 to 1 to 2 inches... Still, pretty length and it will grow!! I hope. Yours looks great.
Why don't you apply a few tape-in hair extensions where the hair is thin? If your hair is short, the extensions won't pull much, it will give you a bulk you want and time for your hair to come back. Good luck, been there so many times.
I just did a big chop this month too. I’ve had long hair since 1993. I don’t regret it, I love it. I wear m hair up every minute of every day so why deal with the tangles and fallout and maintenance and expense. I feel like your cut and mine made us both look younger and more fun.

However on my hair type I found it was not a good idea! I have fine wavy hair but a lot of it~so mine floofed out too much looking like an Egyptian pyramid! 🙆🏼♀️Lol I learned from my bob experience that I have to have enough length to have enough weight to not be a big floof-head! 🤭 My hair has been mid back or longer ever since my “big bob floof” experience! I can’t figure out how to get a golden beige on my brunette hair because all advice for golden beige is for blondes. And all advice for brunettes is showing how to neutralize brassiness and make it cool. I don’t want my hair to be cool! I’m trying to neutralize the burgundy red tint in brunette. But I can’t figure out if a level five or six ash brunette would end up adding more blue or red to my hair, which I’m trying to avoid! How do I find a toner that is golden to keep the gold but has green to counteract the reddish blue tones? How to I find a neutralizing brunette toner that has the green and gold, without the red/violet? My hair keeps turning the color of red wine (a purplish blue-red), but if I use a purely golden toner it just looks way too orange by adding too much vibrant yellow. I need a soft golden-green beige color toner but for brunettes? I’m trying to avoid the cool chocolate browns which is what every brunette toning video on the planet is recommending!

I use only professional products . I am desperately seeking some suggestions on how to get rid of the tangles esp after washing, masking etc. when I see my colourist, after foiling my hair is tangled so badly she has to use so much leave in conditioner to brush through it. I’ve tried every professional product out there including k-18 and nothing helps the knots. My hair is very healthy my ends are cut of monthly. It’s the hair around the nape of my neck that tangles. Please help. 🙏🏻

This happened to me accidentally. I deeply regret going to that salon because she cut more off accidentally than I would have agreed to. I think you will be happy when it touches your shoulders. It will look great at that length.
