The final vlog from our quick trip to Taipei, Taiwan. On this particular day we spent our time searching for views of Taipei 101, such as alleyways and viewpoints around Elephant Mountain and the Da'an district.
I shot predominantly on my Fujifilm X-H1, with Elly on her X-E3 and our friend Bonnie borrowing my Fuji X100F for the day. I've absolutely loved getting photos in Taipei and I'm seriously enjoying the aesthetic and vibe of daily life in Taiwan. I will definitely be planning a return trip for the future!

Good stuff Joe! Thanks for showing us a little bit of Taipei, now you got me thinking about exploring that city. I enjoyed watching this vlog!
Went to Taipei earlier this year, and I love the vibe there too! Still fascinated by the sheer number of motorbikes there XD
Great video Joe, love the shots, and those bikers all in a group, glad I saw this before setting off,
catch up with you guys, all the best keep em coming mate, see yea.
Yeah, all those bikes in Asia really are something to be seen, and heard!
Nice Work as always Joe! Keep up the great art and travel, I’m living vicariously through you.
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
could you possibly mention which camera was used for each photo? thanks
I say it every time but such good images, in particular the night time ones!
I love travelling vicariously with you and your camera
How do you keep your video so clean with the 12-60 lens ? I am using the new 10-25 F1.7 and cannot get the same clean video with GH5.. something went wrong? How do you set your ISO limit?
What about the X Pro 3 when are you testing it ?
I studied a semester in Taipei last year, these vlogs make me wanna go back so much!
Great video, one of your best I think, I really enjoyed it :)
Hallo?
Good content. Did you record video with the XH1 with auto focus?
Haha the tipsy gang strike back!! :D Nice video man, and top notch picture as always (i think the kinda baker is my favorite)! Question: when you mention the dji osmo, you speak about the pocket or the action? Just curious. Anyway, cheers :D
Yeah that guy preparing food (dumplings, maybe?) just happened to step out the doorway was I walked past which caught my attention. I have the DJI Osmo Pocket - it's great for nimble situations.
@@joeallam Ok, thanks, I was unsure as i have the osmo action myself! :) That's funny sometimes to imagine that those people have no idea that they are seen after that by thousands of people, without having any sort of shift in their attitude because they've seen a camera, they are just there doing their thing in their purest form, I think that's the secret power of street photography somehow, why it gets at a point so addictive either to practice or just to watch :)
Great photos👏🏻
09:15 so that's what joe allam sounds like when he's drunk. 😆😛
🙄🤪
Good times 😁😁
He needs to get drunk at times 😜😂
Glass is more important i know. But If you don't use a lens often and could trade it in for a whole X100F in 2019 would you do it? Knowing that the replacement is right around the corner.
You guys epitomize the happy traveler. Doesn’t matter where you land, you find the good in people and places and appreciate the differences.
Haha the guy eating a popsicle at the end. Im digging the music choice in this episode 👍
Omg! I ABSOLUTELTY LOVE TAIPEI! Thanks for the recommendation to FOURPLAY 2.0. I will check it our next time. When’s your next trip back to Taipei?
oh my gosh!!! You came to Taipei!!!!!!! Hope you liked it a lot! And so nice shot btw!!!!!
I had an opportunity to go to Hong Kong years ago. After seeing your video, Taipei is now officially on the bucket list! Great video!
When I first went to Hong Kong about 4 years ago, I had Taipei in my mind as place to compare to in the future. The whole time we were in Taipei I could draw so many similarities but also various nuances that differ between the two. Both are impressive world class cities in their own respective ways; sadly with complications that continue to try and suppress their unique differences.
Taipei is nice!!! You must come! :)
Welcome to Taiwan
Love the shot at 7:33
The music + content= pure bliss
Maybe you can visit Tainan sometime, lots of interesting building and sites to capture there!
Taipei is so fun, thanks for sharing and for all the inspiration! Hope you had some stinky tofu! :P
You still use your GH5 right ? ❤️
The pictures are amazing I hope to visit somewhere out of South Africa next year for the food , culture , beautiful site seeing and of coz pictures 😁 December il drop a video in mpumalanga . N perhaps Durban ? Wel see how far we go.
Thank you! Regardless of whether you publish a vide or not, the act of making it is always worth it - Enjoy!
I just been there early this year.. but when on top rain is getting heavy..😂😂😂😂😂
Welcome to Taiwan.
Great video! Was that really shot on the osmo pocket? Looked awesome
Cheers! I actually kept hold of the GH5 for most of the market/later shots as the crowd thinned past the entrance so I wasn't in the way so much.
Joe Allam oh ok. I’m still trying to decide between the osmo and one of the new 1 inch sensor point and shoots. I saw your footage and thought the osmo was doing an amazing job in the low light.
still images are fuji jpgs? b roll is fuji h1 with 16-55 kit lens? vlog is panasonic gh5 with 12-60? thank you for the effort and the sharing. thumbs up.
Almost. All video is from the GH5, all photos are Fujifilm X-H1, raw and then edited.

Wellcome to Taiwan!
👍❤️
Welcome to come back to Taiwan later.
Visit Kaoshiung the next time you come to Taiwan
"tattiness" haha, there's probably a visceral sincerity to that word. I thought you were going to use "character" as the classic catch-all to refer to the charming disarray.
Fuji shooters.... raw or jpeg ? Across or chrome?
raw for low light, jpg when i need to save space
Taipei is the heart and of Taiwan..you have captured it beautifully..
歡迎來台灣 😄
Taiwan 🤗
Did I saw rats right at the end onde the video in the background ? :D cool video. Nice place
Haha, yeah I spotted that in the edit too!
日本と香港と中国が混ざった感じで めっちゃ行きたくなりました。ありがとう
Come to Philippines 😁
Did I just see a dab at 10:46 or what ????
歡迎 welcome
Welcome to Taiwan, this video is taken by F-LOG?😃
Go to snake alley night market next time
Thanks for the tip!
@@joeallam Anytime! Looks like you had a great time here. If you ever roll through again and want to explore other parts of the island give me a heads up.
On a side note next time you are in the Daan area there's a photo shop that is operated by Fujifilm called Wonder photo shop. It's near the blue line Dunhua MRT station. They stock a few bodies and have the majority of Fujifilm's current lenses. They have a free day rental of any lens in stock with a deposit and you can choose to rent for a day, week etc, for when ya want to pack light. Cheers
Is it hard to travel in Asia if your only language is English?
It can be difficult and at times you'll end up with things very different to your expectations due to translation error etc. But that's all part of the allure to travel and you just have to allow for extra time/money/discomfort. Hand gestures, pictures and saved notes can be useful for everyday basics and learning a few phrases, even via Google translate, can also go a long way.. All in all, remain content with being openly foreign to a culture, with a willingness to be patient and learn. Gentle kindness speaks all languages.
Excellent video, apart from the giggling girls.
Those "giggling girls" are my girlfriend and her best friend of 20 years. They also happen to be some of the best company I've ever shared whilst travelling. Lighten up and have some respect.
Men, this frame rate throws me off. But cool content tho
What is frame rate
Why? Because it isnt in choppy pseudocinematic 24fps?
Taipei looks like a poor village.
@Kirk Chen Funny to see numerous Taiwanese coming to China and begging for jobs.haha.
Too much talking!
Welcome to China
