I’ve lived here for 8 years and have to say it’s massively overrated. Some are good as gold but many are actually vindictive and only think of themselves. The docks are beautiful and the Wirral has wonderful history all the way back to Arthurian Legend. Victorian Wirral is stunning and a sad reminder of National collapse. The people however are quick to turn on one another yet say “blood is thicker than water” as they stab one another in the back. They also say “we luv r city” yet they litter it and smash it up. The litter is out of control and this people that have such trust for one another also have razor wire and smashed glass topped walls. My wife is from here and fully agrees with me. The scouse myth is full of shit. However, the best of them are some of the best English I’ve met. I don’t hold only contempt at all… hence marrying one of the best people on earth being from here. The genetic makeup being multicultural is also a lie. 60% of scousers have 10% Irish DNA, but they often state this as being 60% Irish, complete nonsense. They’ve been done dirty by corrupt local gov. But there’s no excuse for how they treat their city themselves. Filthy place lacking in prudence and conservation. They still vote in favour of their own destruction as the powerful red streak of the far left wing group known as the Militant tendency through much of the 1980s (subsequently taken to court by the Government) runs strong even now despite objectively stealing from the people and ruining Liverpool. And now they’re being forced to import 250000 immigrants leaving Bootle as a slave trade center. You think the issues of 1911 to 1920 in the docks would have taught them something about this in their collective memory.
I’m all for they Scouse exceptionalism if they want to run out the drug dealers on every corner, stop the kids wearing masks, kick out the gangs, end the prostitution on holt lane in Kenny, end the slave trade in Bootle, sort the roads, fix the collapsing buildings. Aged like wine - recent behaviour this week has proven this. Lived there myself for over a decade; like any city, there's good and bad, but the faux-left-wingness of the place is jarring at times.
