generally as noted by a great Classical photographer Joe Zeltsman, one area where the female can be photographed in a non feminine pose is an elderly person. Also dark clothing can be photographed in the masculine pose on a woman where the body and head is toward the direction of light. JG was just masterfully showing the feminine pose. Females are lucky -- just not a great idea to use a male in a feminine pose.

“Take your time“ seems one of the best pieces of advice besides how to turn. As a pro, can you predict most lighting outcomes, or do you still have to test, which of course, takes time?
It depends. If I've been in that environment before then you can very close guess what your settings will be. When working in a studio, for example, I always do a test shot before I begin. But I find that over the years (and the more experienced you get), then the amount of time it takes to test the lighting because shorter because you're able to more closely guess what it will be.
Thank you, mate. As for becoming a Nikon ambassador. Lovely. I watched the men's version too. Some interesting differences, I've been wondering about those for a while. Not sure how you found such beautiful models, but but it was great to see how even they can be affected by different light use. Thanks or the great video.
This is superb, Thanks for the tips. My question is, Is it ideal to use V-flat to fill in the shadow and spice it up a bit after turning her away from the light?
It just depends on what you like. If I'm shooting fashion, for example, and I want more detail in the shadows then a V flat would be a great option. Sometimes I will put a black cutter to cut away the light and make the shadows more pronounced. So it depends on the feeling you try to convey.
You just need to adjust your subject's position (or your position) to make sure there is still enough light on the subject's face. Sometimes, I'll go all the way and purposely have the hair block part of the face. Have fun with it!

Hey Jerry, great video! How would you apply this to looks where the model has their hair down? Cheers!
You just need to adjust your subject's position (or your position) to make sure there is still enough light on the subject's face. Sometimes, I'll go all the way and purposely have the hair block part of the face. Have fun with it!

Thanks a lot for your tips!
Cheers from 🇬🇷
You just blew my mind!
Sweet tutorial Jerry. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you Jerry for another great training video. I hope this Pandemic ends soon so you can take wedding photos again. Looking forward to watching more of your training videos.
Hello! I'm so happy to find your channel. I'm not a photographer but I like to illustrate, and I have to say that I learned a bunch from your videos too! Thank you so much for making these videos. I wonder if you'd make videos for plus-size men and women, or different age ranges too, if you don't mind and have the time 🥰✨
Thanks for your selflessness of sharing!
Loved this tutorial Jerry! Great reminder to take your time! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Super cool video, thanks!
I have to watch this again because all I did was watch Rayne the whole time, LOL.
Nice video. In fact I've learned so much from all your videos. Thank you. However, can you give some info on the settings you use for sharp photos on this particular video and similar shoots. Thanks
great idea!
Great Jerry. Been watching you for years and still learning. Your studio in Melbourne, still there? Tried to contact them. Till next time from sunny Sydney. Bye mate.
Hi mate. Melissa and I are based in Melbourne and here in the US. But unfortunately with the current pandemic we haven't been able to return to Australia in over a year. We don't have a physical studio space there because we are here in the US more often at the moment. Who did you try to contact? I'm so sorry we didn't get your message. Reach out to info@jerryghionis.com and you'll be able to reach us there. Thanks!
