yes..great. A lot of times you go for photos and come back and think..naah not so beautiful. The photgrapher can get much more out of you, but many just say: lets stand there, ok, click click, ok we are ready....and results suck. I am thinking about a professional shoot as I lost 12 kg of weight and wanted to have nice "slim" pictures soon....but now I wonde,r let me wait a few weeks and loose even more weight :D

      Here’s a few things I’ve learned:
      1) raise your chin up and out a bit
-this makes your face/neck look slimmer
      2) chest up, shoulders slightly back and down
      3) hips twisted to the side and butt slightly back…this makes your hips/stomach look smaller
      4) also, try to never be on the end points of the photo or the front person. The people on the far left, far right, or in front of others always look bigger
      5) and like you said, smile with your whole face….eyes included.
Practice in the mirror with your cellphone to take pics. What looks good in the mirror may not look as good in a photo. Practice until the pose looks natural and feels more natural when you do it. Then you’ll naturally fall into that pose when with others.

Jerry is a master craftsman, one of the top portrait artists and educators today. There are more solid photographers than at any time, thanks to accessibility of education like this, and improved learning curves from immediate digital image view. Today, if anyone wants to create great images, people like Jerry and his peers provide all the knowledge needed. The magic additional ingredients are the creativity and personal chemistry a great photographer adds to bring technique to life.

Ah! I love the psychology in his methods! Photography is an art and art isn't all haphazard and "in the eyes of the beholder" like some hope for the sake of simplicity. Creating a magical or successful image is more like effectively marketing a product to an audience. Projecting a particular image, mood, idea or trying to evoke a certain emotion usually isn't just about photographing a beautiful subject. It's finding what precisely is beautiful about that subject and bringing it into the best light (literally and figuratively). Even if you're taking a senior portrait, your hope should be, the young person sees something wonderful of themselves in the photos, that they've been blind to.... that they have more self-love and confidence after the shoot. Photography is more than pretty pictures. If it doesn't challenge your mind and get you excited to mentally stretch to elevate your image and subject, it isn't art. Love this!

      The Book of Truth
When things were at their very worst:
2 Suns, Cross in the sky, 2 comets will collide = don`t be afraid - repent, accept Lord`s Hand of Mercy.
Scientists will say it was a global illusion.
Beware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again.
After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way.
Don`t trust „pope“ Francis = the False Prophet
      - will seem to rise from the dead
      - will unite all Christian Churches and all Religions as one.
One World Religion = the seat of the Antichrist.
Benedict XVI is the last true pope - will be accused of a crime of which he is totally innocent.
"Many events, including ecological upheavals, wars, the schism in My Church on Earth, the dictatorships in each of your nations - bound as one, at its very core - will all take place at the same time."
"Arab uprising will spark global unrest - Italy will trigger fall out"

Fairly new photographer (and certainly very new to portraits using either natural or "artificial" lighting). Starting from a blank canvass, I really can not thank you enough both for this video and the "Quick start" or complete guide review in pictures with annotations as a starting point. Really, bravo Jerry. What's most interesting to me (and I should have thought of it from my own personal dance experience), but even starting from the base in "third" foot position and opening up the hip makes perfect sense. Presenting pleasing and repeating forms, lines, triangles. This video and the posing men video really brought these concepts home with the addition of starting points with respect to the light. I will now make it my point to review images from excellent portrait photographers that brake this basic starting point to see what message they are trying to convey and how posing them differently achieves that. Again, Jerry, thank you so much for this starting point. As someone in the comments alluded to, did you do a video with folks with skin conditions or fuller perspectives for help photographing people that are afraid of doing more than headshots for obvious reasons?

Good tips, though how much of them to implement depends on how sexy the given woman wants to look. It depends on what message the picture wants to convey. For instance, in my wedding photos together with my groom, I didn't want to look too sexy, because I wanted the focus of the picture to be our love and happiness rather than my curves. For the same reason, I also had a more modest wedding dress. As for a 12-year-old girl, her curves and femininity in general should never ever be in the focus. Another counterexample would be photographing a woman who lifts and wants to to show off her gains rather than just look sexy and curvy. I'm sure posing with that focus in mind would be very different, too. One size definitely doesn't fit all.

What about foot placement? Toes turned inwards denote shyness, awkwardness, teen-ager like, etc. On my many photocourse before becoming a pro we saw and it is readily apparent that turned in toes in a normal situation is a no-no. Toes aimed parallel or even preferably turned outwards appear well poised and graceful (Probably why ballet dancers, etc., always turn toes outwards). Your model's genral foot placement to me looks very awkward - or has the normal guides been changed and no one informed me or the other photographers I work with ?

Please don't do this, this type of posing is for high fashion and editorial where the styling, make-up, location, and idea match with the weird posing and are highly contorted positions. this is not professional unless the goal is to sell the dress she's wearing, for general portraiture, this is ignoring the subject you've got in front of you.
Try this instead, let the person stand as they do naturally, let their eyes and face find a position that seems comfortable, and guide them to explore that, the golden tip is: if it looks uncomfortable it is pretty uncomfortable to look at.
So explore the person you are shooting with, find emotions, guide them to be themselves in a way that conveys your goal but don't try to contort a pretty girl into these weird positions just for the sake of it.

"Women are conscious about everything" because of the beauty standards being upheld in this video.
As a photographer, I challenge you to demonstrate photography techniques that can accept the female form as is, and help undo the harm created by unrealistic beauty standards. Also, I challenge you to create your demos with untrained and less conventionally attractive photo subjects because that is more likely the reality your students will face. Cheers!

those poses may "look good on a female form" technically, but honestly they are slightly ridiculous and unnatural. Literally no woman moves like that, especially the pose which suggests that the model's leg is injured. I cringe just thinking of posing that way.

Ok I came across this channel by accident and have an honest question. How much longer are we going to pose women to emphasize their curves? And there is also a mention to hide a curve on a woman who is plus size? There are so many different ways to pose depending on what emotion you're trying to convey with the photo...and it doesn't include curvature, or body position but channeling the inner expression and emotion from a human being, figuring out who they are and how to capture that. The longer I watched this video the more uncomfortable it made me feel. I photograph mainly women and never do anything like this to get a great shot. I mean sure if you want someone to look awkward and staged and make them feel self conscious by trying to emphasize their curves or hide them... Not all girls want to make their bust look fuller and firmer...come on. If I heard a photographer talk like this about posing a model I would feel very uncomfortable working with them. I work with a lot of younger models and definitely would never pose them this way.

I totally get that, my goal is always to learn my subject and photograph them in a way they feel best, most comfortable, and most confident. There is absolutely no "one way" to pose anyone

    • @angelaclifton7609
      @angelaclifton7609 2 года назад +2

I watched the video (which the algorithm must have thrown my way for some reason 🤔) and grew increasingly uncomfortable the more I watched and listened. I thought I must be the only one, until I came across your comment. My strongest thought was that this was sexist and demeaning.
I see so many women automatically turn slightly sideways and point one foot, bend a leg etc, for a photographer, that I am sure they have at some point been told to pose, and I want to scream at them to stop it - it looks so wrong! In my opinion, candid shots of people, male or female, taken as they behave naturally, will always give you the best portraits. When people I shoot (and hands up, I don't do this for a living) ask me to make them look good I simply make sure they are comfortable and relaxed and take the shots while they ARE looking good. People are beautiful. See the beauty and capture it!

I would love to know how to pose looking more natural, NOT like I have scoliosis and as if I need to pee.
Nothing about me gives the impression of me being delicate, although I am. I'm delicate like a handgranade.
I want photos of me to show my joy and lust for life, my strength, my inteligence and my ability to make animals and children feel safe around me. So how do I pose for that to come across?

    • @obsidiansea

Some people will want this approach and others will not. I would think as a professional photographer, you would need to be able to shift approaches to suit whoever you are photographing. But just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people shouldn't be allowed to watch this video and follow these tips if they want to.
