Replacing Starter Solenoid on Cub Cadet

- I've been puttin off changing this solenoid for a while, it's not a hard job but I have just had other more important things to do but it's finely done now, I know it's hard to see what I am doing but maybe you get the idea.
I am confused. Some say if you jump the solenoid with a tool and you hear just clicking, then it is the solenoid that is the problem, which is what occurs in my Cub Cadet. Others say that is the starter motor there is clicking jumping the solenoid. Which is it? I don't want to have to remove the solenoid if it is the starter motor or vice versa. Thanks
if you connect the two big posts on the solenoid with like pair of pliers or a heavy piece of wire and it the starter runs then that means your starter is good, so if you jump a small wire on the solenoid from the hot post on the battery to the small post on the solenoid then if the starter turns over most likely it is the ignition switch. If the solenoid just clicks it could be a bad battery. one other thing that could cause the click from the solenoid when you jump it, there is a possibility the starter is stuck or the bendix is bound up in the teeth of the fly wheel. I hope this gives you something to check.
I wish I could have seen more than your arm during the process of taking it off. I like your laid back way of presenting it though.
I'm not too good at camera work, I appreciate you watching.
Thanks for your help! I Live in battlefield MO Just happened to find your video trying to diagnose my mower haha
I hope it helped, I was in the way a lot of the time.
Is that a 580 and if so do you have a part # for that solenoid? Thanks!
I don't remember but mostly asny solenoid will work as long as it fits,, some have two small posts if so one has to got ground if only one post just hook it up to the wire from the switch,, the pain with these is getting to them.
@@MissouriOldTimer thank you!
good job buddy simple easy and fixed
this one wasn't real bad to get to,, I did leave one mounting bolt out, no use in adding too much weight.. lol
I JUST got done watching 805ROADKING replace the solenoid on his Craftsman rider. I need to replace mine too. Mine is not so easy to get to.
Lol, sorry, we're cool. It was a bad day.
They put it in a good location.
it's alot easier that a lot of them are,,
That one wasn't to hard to change, I had a newer cub that you needed 3 hands to get to it.
man, I know, some of them you can't even see,
Cool
Great fix and off you go!
