Solid theory, I love it! I’m wondering too what the corruption light would’ve been like if Pink Diamond’s powers were added into it. If her powers are what you’re saying, I wonder if the corruption light would’ve then been like a massive atomic bomb: one that would completely decimate all gem life, like a gem genocide (gemocide?). Anyway that’s what I’m thinking 😅

Pink and White are potentially the most powerful of the Diamonds. Maybe Pink moreso because in addition to the healing power suggested she created new more powerful gems on Earth than has been seen anywhere else so far. The Rose Quartz are implied to be the newest species of Gem as they all belonged to Pink and Earth was her only planet. Rose can heal, is strong, fast, and float and enter the minds of Gems, create giant and powerful force fields. The Crystal Gem Rose Quartz was powerful and feared to the point every other Rose was sealed away for safety. Then their is Jasper, a flawless Jasper (which is almost impossible even in real life just as much as it’s rare in Steven Universe) that was so powerful that without any military training in the minutes after her birth she shattered 80 Crystal Gems that raised her Kindergarten and that was only in the first day of her life. Jasper was a War Hero and was feared and respected and she belonged to Pink. Jasper was alive during the time Pink was because according to Eyeball Jasper was on a mission somewhere else during Pinks shattering. Then Their is Amythestwho even she’s made improperly is still a talented and powerful Gem in her own right. Pink seemed to have the makings for one of the most powerful sects of the entire Gem Empire. If White did shatter Pink it might have been to secure her status among The Diamonds and Homeworld.

Well the show is told from the viewpoint of Steven, who has never been a student in school, so he wouldn’t have reason to know of the division. It doesn’t mean the wars never happened. It just means Steven doesn’t know about them. All he knows is from the gems and his dad. And I’m pretty sure Greg isn’t going to try to tell him about something that long ago

White Diamond seems the most powerful, since she's at the top of the diamond symbol. Since we know that Homeworld is a kind of dictatorship, hierarchy and social order is very present. So naturally, ones at the top have more power/influence on the lower class.
I think the phrase 'Diamonds are Gems too' will have MAJOR implications towards the possible redemption of the Diamond authority, which I believe to be the final story arc of Steven Universe. And also, what are your thoughts on the character Pink Diamond's Pearl, and when do you think she will appear/revealed to be Pearl.
i like the 'diamonds are gems too' mentality but honestly i would rather them not be redeemed. I really want a good ominous scary ass villain in SU and we don't have that because every time we get one Steven becomes their friend and thats fine, i love peridots redemption arc and i have hope for jasper, but the diamonds have no place on earth and it'd be too much to change all of homeworlds mentality. if anything I would be okay if blue found out the truth and turned on yellow/white diamond or both yellow and blue fusing to battle white but idk. as far as pearls go I think ours belonged to white diamond and pink pearl will hopefully show up eventually.
Steven Universe is a show all about acceptance and understanding. Its core themes include the aforementioned acceptance and understanding, as well as love and the idea that no one is truly evil, and no one is truly good. This is not necessarily what I want, but it's what I think will happen eventually.

You've probably heard this before, but I like to pair the location of the Diamonds' gemstones to the powers you've theorized for them.
White Diamond has hers on the head because, of course, she possibly controls the mind.
Yellow Diamond has hers over the heart because the heart of a human can be argued to be the most vital organ of the body (or at least one of the most vital). Removing the heart "disrupts" and eventually kills off the body.
Blue Diamond also has hers over the heart because, whereas the mind is seen the center of logic, the heart is seen as the center for emotion. Our hearts can actually be injured because of our emotions.
Pink Diamond has hers on her naval because the center of the body is seen as the stomach, and is the center of the body's source of energy (digestion) which could also be seen as a core. In literature, when authors refer to a core, I tend to think about instinct/gut feeling/the stomach area. However, Pink Diamond's role over the "physical" body could also be linked to Qi, the life force found in Chinese traditional medicine. Illnesses of the body were thought to be a sign of unbalanced Qi, and Chinese traditional medicine sought to undo these imbalances with herbology/herbalism, food therapy, physical training, and more. I chose these three from the Wikipedia page because they all had to do with digestion, but the other methods listed all had to do with the physical form as well, just further tying it into what was proposed as Pink Diamond's area of expertise. Really, I highly recommend everyone reading this to go to the wiki page and see for yourselves.
I would not be surprised if Pink Diamond could not only heal shattered gems, but also corrupted gems. We know they can be at least partially healed due to Steven, but a Diamond?
Anyway, I'll probably regret posting this later and scold myself for looking like a know-it-all, but I'm too tired to care at this point.

Oh, and another interesting theory of mine, what if off-colour gems aged one human year every thousand Homeworld years. That would mean that characters like Amethyst and Carnelian have the mental age of a 5/6 year old, yet the physical age of a 5,000/6,000 year old. This would have a major effect on the show's lore, and, if say, Pink Diamond was overcooked... her colony would be like handing a nuclear bomb in the hands of a toddler. It's not going to go well.

ooooooohhhhh calling it now! Rose poofed Pink in front of Blue and White which caused Blue to let out her anger wave and it affected Rose which caused her to shatter Pink in a fit of rage. To prevent Blue from feeling so much guilt that she would cause the entire gem race to be depressed White suppressed her memory of the event.
I have a theory: Pearl’s color scheme hints at all four diamond colors, right? She has pink, blue, yellow, and white. Maybe, she belonged to all of them at some point. She was moved around because as we know, she’s defected. Her gem is more oval-shaped than rounded like most pearls. My theory is that she kept getting moved around from diamond to diamond, because no one wants the defective pearl in their court. Pearl has just her current diamond’s color on when she is serving them, but later on (now) she just wears them all as like a memory sort of. To remember them by, like mementos. In The Answer, she was wearing all white, so we can assume that at that time she was serving white diamond.

She was not wearing white, but rather her palette was being kept monochromatic as a way to emphasize that the audience is hearing a story rather than watching the events as they unfold.
In the ending, when this stylistic choice is no longer being used, she's seen with an outfit resembling her current one.

well you can thank Homeworld for that as they're most likely the ones to have destroyed old mother Russia...what's unclear is what did they do to cause the destruction, weapon testing, strip mining resources, big kindergarten, OR pink diamonds emergence from the Earth.
Honestly, i feel like white diamond might allow Rose Quartz’s memories to come back if she wanted. It makes sense that White Diamond can’t effect his organic body, but then that only leaves any residual memories left in his gemstone. Maybe even, if white diamond got frustrated at Steven’s ignorance, she might use her power to make steven remember all of Rose’s misdeeds

What if Pink isn't dead. Think about it no one has her shards, not even Blue. Why wouldn't she be the first one to be forced fused to try to fix her. I think if she is alive, the way she's introduced could be key to figuring out both Rose and Steven.
If the white diamond thing is true, then my theory of pink diamond may be true. I think that pink diamond was secretly in on the Gem rebellion. It was her AND Rose who started it. No one knew but Rose. White diamond ordered yellow diamond to shatter her because she found out (or yellow diamond could have found out herself and went without white diamond’s direction). So when pink was shattered, white diamond covered it up so that Homeworld would then have a martyr, people like blue diamond who are upset and angered by her shattering. Covering it up would also keep from a second rebellion inside Homeworld, because is lower gems found out that a diamond was helping the rebellion, it would be a divided-in-half civil war.
I also accept the possibility that Pink was a secret Crystal Gem sympathizer/member. I know that Pearl and Garnet view Pink's Human Zoo as her trophy room of her conquest of earth and I believe that this was originally the case. However, perhaps seeing Humans and earth for long enough caused Pink to not want to go through with completing a colony on Earth; resulting in White and/or Yellow Diamond shattering Pink to prevent the creation of a second rebellion against the diamonds (or worse, the Chrystal Gems growing in numbers and never dying).

Yellow Diamond was clearly not involved as she could not revel that earth exist if she would be. And yes, now we know that Pink Diamond was definitely responsible for the rebellion.
TheRezro we definitely know that? Do you know something I don’t? I haven’t seen the latest episode dump, but last I checked, that wasn’t cannon. So nobody knows that. And as for Yellow Diamond, it’s a theory. Again, unless you know something that I don’t, it’s still up in the air. So, Yellow Diamond could have shattered her. Either on her own or on order from White Diamond and it has nothing to do with whatever incoherent thing you said about the earth.

Yes, it is a theory and I'm glad that you do notice that your own stuff also. But the thing is that Yellow Diamond is clear red herring here, as if we look closely this doesn't have a sense (yes, she do act angry but like in family it could because she cared). Homeworld learn about Earth only because Steven contact Yellow Diamond. We do know that they though that it was destroyed, and it was Yellow Diamond who send expedition to verify that. If she would be involved why she would resume almost forgotten investigation? Also in the trail she act suspicious because it become clear that Diamond was involved (in presumption one what wasn't there). But if it would be her responsibility then acting suspicious would be last thing to do, as she could easily deflect issue pressuring other explanations. She wouldn't profit from shutting down trial (what would cause lot of explanations to Blue) if she was involved because evidence was presumptive, but it would make a sense if she fear White Diamond.

I'd like to point out that if Pink's power is resurrection then there's a chance to get her back.Gem shards are able to re-project as disembodied parts, so should Pink's shards come together and reform there's a chance she'll reconstitute out of instinct. Perhaps that's why her shards are sealed away too.

I agree with your theory, but I was thinking pink diamond's power would be more social, like in the social pyramid, there is physical (yellow), mental (white), emotional (blue), and that leaves social for pink, it could be anything affecting social relationships between gems such as forcing fusion, preventing fusion, or even the inability or aiding to properly emote and share feelings, thoughts, or physical pains
Funny, that white diamond's ability is theorized to be over the mind because I created a gem that was the highest in White diamond's court who had the ability to suppress "negative" (rebellious) thoughts.

I think Pink's power is creating gems. The two kinderkartens we have seen on earth has been hers, we do not know who was in control of the kunderkarten on homeworld. Pink could have been created at the same time as the others just not geting her own colony for much later.

Well Pink did own earth, so it would make sense that the two kindergartens would be her's.
K'hari Jordan if the technology was developed already by whatever means, Earth was seemingly the first site where Pink came to. She was gifted with manipulation of a gem’s physical structure(perfect cut gems out of ones that normally would be extremely hard to find present naturally like Snowflake Obsidian). Maybe experimenting with creating soldier gems who could serve a purpose of preventing a defeated gem from needing to be taken directly to her.
The whole rest of the Rose Quartz cut is locked away in bubbles inside of Pink’s room in the Zoo...sure there are quite a few, but there must be a reason Pink was so sentimental towards her ‘traitorous’ gems. They had been put into suspect as a whole if not worse, we at least know there were none on Pink’s personal entourage.
I think Pink was way too attached to her creations and deviated from the strict guidelines the other Diamonds are required to follow. I’m even willing to bet that White is the reason why nobody at all on homeworld knows what happened if we follow Slice’s explanation.
Just extending that to something like her just needing to use it like a mass, superpowered “Suggestion” spell from fantasy games/writing, mixed with the Fidelius charm, I’d speculate White is an incredibly intimidating, suspicious individual. Not maybe even because she wants to be, but because everyone else is afraid of what she can do to make you compliant when in proximity of her. She’s like Jasper x1000.

I think, Pink Diamond could not only have powers of healing, but also the powers of creation. And her powers of healing were enormous according to Rose. If Roses can heal the physical form of gems, Pink Diamond could heal all the damage (like damage to feelings and mind), so she probably could fix corruption.
I think that if a hand destabilizer hits yellow diamond it will took a large amount of time charging the whole physical form of the diamond, for example when jasper hits Garnet it took like 3 seconds destabilize her because of the size of her body and the resistance to poofing, Zircon was poof in like 1 seconds with a huge beam, so... to destab. a diamond it would take a huge amount of energy cause the energy has to spread through the whole body of the gem
I would say Blue and White Diamond's and the most powerful and terrifying. Yes, Yellow Diamond may have the power to break a gems physical form but how much damage can it really do if then can just come back good as new. White Diamond can damage the mental state of a gem which causes major damage to the gem's mind and if it causes enough mental damage it can hurt physically. Blue Diamond causes emotional pain and emotional pain can lead to mental pain and then physically pain. We've seen how emotional pain effects the gems (Pearl, Amethyst, etc) so Blue Diamond takes the crown when in comes to the strongest and most powerful diamond

Pink is the strongest providing the fact that we have learned lion was resurrected by rose and has special powers so if Pink has healing powers beyond this of Rose she could possibly manipulate a gem’s capabilities and possibly manipulate their free will and put them under her dominion which can possibly cancel out the other powers controlling that gem and/or manipulating those powers as well
That's just White Diamond. If anything Pink could just keep resurrecting her army, making it almost impossible for her to lose because no matter how many gems you shattered they would just keep coming back
I think my favorite of the Diamond powers is White Diamond. I mean, being able to get all the information you want? As someone who's curious in nature, I'd *love* to be able to use abilities that can help me answer the questions I have and White Diamond's power matches that pretty well. =)
I think that White Diamond has the power of fear, Blue Diamond has the power of grief, Yellow Diamond has the power of anger, and Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz/Steven has the power of love. Because fear has control over grief and anger, and it is treated as the most powerful thing, when it is really love over all.

This was incredible. You consistently create theories that are backed up by grounded evidence but fit things together in very logical, consistent ways that make sense within the show and that I could never even think of. Wonderful video.
Maybe Pink Diamond "designs" Gems. Every Gem has a specific purpose and to do that, they need to have specific powers. And where do their powers and their bodies and everything else come from? The gemstone! So maybe Pink Diamond is the one who "designed" and "programmed" different species of Gems. That would explain why there are no "new" types of Gems on Homeworld that no one is really sure of what their purpose is yet. It may be because the designer, Pink Diamond, is long deceased and no new Gem has been designed since then. The only exceptions are fusions of course but we all know that the Diamonds don't like fusions because they don't know how they work and what they do and thereby might become powerful enough to overthrow them. So they were obviously neither planned or designed.
If so that is a Withe power considering that even Yellow is scared of her.
What the result of all diamonds combination power I think it will be shattering gems completely if we imagine what will happen to the gems if pink diamond wasn't shattered and combining her power with the other diamonds💎💎💎💎

So they use injectors to harness their powers like destabilisers do to yellows. Also explains the resource crisis as they have no Pink to make the injectors work efficiently
I believe all of them except for pink diamond, it seemed pretty extreme when bismuth wanted to shatter gems, she said it would even the war cause they cant come back. And she was bubbled before pink diamond so that must mean that pink diamond cant resurrect shattered gems. But maybe she could heal them in a different way, like she was meant to be able to reverse corruption, almost like a back up plan in case the corruption got out of hand
Maybe in case there was a war and allies were caught in the corruption sound/light. That way the Diamonds could corrupt as they pleased and finish a battle swiftly. Then use Pink to take care of the aftermath.

Yes, she can't resurrect games, she can only heal and manipulate life.
One interesting thing is that Yellow Diamond's ability (specifically the technology based on it, which I believe is weaker than her) still partially worked in Steven, although his gem is nothing more than one of his organs.
I believe that any diamond is capable of using their ability in a way that effects specific species, but the ''default'' usage of their power is to control their own specie, otherwise they would be quite vulnerable without other gems.
After the series, your theory is basically correct
Yellow: The body-Rational, the more useful the better, strong, very “Material”
Blue: The Soul-Unpredictable, depend on her current emotion, abstract, spiritual
White: The brain-Controlling, emotionless, also rational but in a different way
Pink: Irrational, provide life in the darkness time but also bring darkness when heart broken

it would make sense if steven was more like hercules, once damaging the organic body, he would reform as a full gem. either that or he will be one third gem, retaining his healing powers but bringing back his mom with the now separate gem.

Actually, considering how rose shattering pink is very complicated, white shattering pink could seem like a possibility. Adding in how you theorize white diamond to be able to control gems’ minds, she could’ve shattered pink and manipulated the minds of those who saw.
I think White Diamond's power would be the most cruel, while Pink's would be the most dangerous while good as well. White's is cruel bc, as we've seen with Pearl, she almost looks traumatized, and she even stated that she wanted to say something to Steven and literally couldn't, even though she seemed to want to almost scream it. As for Pink's power, should this be correct, I think it's the most dangerous for opposing forces on Homeworld bc.. well she has this infinite army doing pretty much everything she tells them to do, with little resistance (aside from Rose Quartz, Pearl, etc) and she doesn't have to worry about loss of life bc she could just take the shattered pieces and POOF walk it off and keep going.

Y'know how when Steven was getting destabilised? He still had the yellow things going through him. I personally don't think that a purely organic being would have them. I think that, at least some light projection stuff travels through his body, which would be required for things such as shapeshifting. Also, I think that only White Diamond would be required for corruption, seeing as corruption is explicitly stated to be purely a thing in the mind; they have that crazy appearance because that's how they reformed to be. I think that the yellow part of the light would have been the equivalent of Yellow Diamond poofing all the gems, to force them to reform.

I see some comments saying that the Diamonds could have had stronger weapons or powers than these. I don't know. I feel in the context of the show and gem society you can't get much stronger than these types of powers. I mean, imagine if some higher being among humans could simply destroy your body, make you lose your mind, or wrest full control of how you felt anyway from you without so much as touching you. Humans could lose complete autonomy - free will over themselves with absolutely no say in the matter. They'd be screwed and at the mercy of this higher being. This is life for them now. This is how life is for the gems on homeworld. Can't get much more terrifying than that.
And if you still think they could have better powers that are combat oriented or whatever then remember a gem can have more than one ability. Just look at the crystal gems - especially Pearl. Summoning swords and spears, shooting lasers, that little thing she did with the sand, holo projections among other things.
That’s why yellow wants her to stop being sad because making other gems sad doesn’t actually contribute to the society and their effort to colonize other planet

Ah! Do you realize that if Pink diamond's power was truly over the gem and could heal shattered gems then we might have answered why she was shattered? If pink diamond was to ever turn away from the others in any way, the fear of her attack would be devastating. Then there is the other fact, she could have been more popular than any other gem. Hell, every gem still praises her on the most part. As people remember those who heal them, save them, or in my thoughts give birth to them. Yes I believe the reason why there is such a difference between the two eras of gems is the lack of Pink diamond's power. Like she had just a wave and she could instill possibilities.

I very much love theories like these. All I could think of while watching this is white diamonds song 'After All' and how she refers to a mother/child relationship. While watching this I had to to share how wonderfully connected this whole show is, even the episode where it isn't about gems and fighting, and that everything is just extensions of each other. It's not something we get unless it's a well thought out book since I would believe a TV show has a lot of fluidity and a lot of input as time goes on.
