ABOUT THIS GAME
Blitzkrieg II comes with tremendous focus on new strategic opportunities, global war and gritty realism of WWII battles. On the side of Soviet Armed Forces, US Army or German Wehrmacht you plan entire operations and lead your men into fierce action, choose reinforcements and use a wide range of new weapons in three full-blown campaigns that span the globe. New graphics engine and significant step over the original game get you in control of the most dramatic and bloody conflict of the past century.
Real Strategy
Decide what missions to fight, accumulate and call in any type of reinforcements, capture train stations or airfields to receive more troops by railroad or get air supremacy during the entire operation. Please use the timestamps to skip the introduction to BK2 if you don't care about it and just wanna see stuff blow up; but I personally think it's what set's BK2 apart from other RTS games. Also this is really the OG game that got me into MoW, CoH and other games.. Deep cut right into the childhood for me here!

@@theShermanator RUSE used to be one of my favourites too bad they removed it before i got my hands on it. But Blitzkrieg is Blitzkrieg even if you play it to the point of overplay, one will always come back because of the charm of the game
Idk why but the map system changing and the arrows and stuff I liked so much. Just satisfying seeing the frontline move after the mission.

In Blitzkrieg 2, you cannot replace fallen soldiers with supply trucks like what you can usually do in Blitzkrieg 1.
When I was in 5th grade, every day after school my friends and I would hurry to my home and play Blitzkrieg 2 1v1 on mine and my dad's pc!

Damn, this gave me hella nostalgia. I remember playing this game so much and even trying to create custom maps to play on when I was much younger. Im pretty sure this game is what got me into WW2 and the strategy games in general. Fun time!

Ye, one of the best games of the genre of its time, Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike games have made possible to bring to life some of the history i studied and read about back in school. Would i play Blitzkrieg 2 today, though? Although in terms of polish and design the game is very well done, better than today's standards unfortunately, playing this on a 2k monitor is painful - if a remastered version could make it playable to 2k resolution, that'd be the goat

I love the idea of a massive campaign map that either Europe, Africa or Asia with research with RTS mechanics.

oldie but goody - had this one and the first one as well. And the additions to it as well - I can't remember the names, but I'm pretty sure i had at least 2 more additional campaigns (or whatever they were). It was all pre-steam and so I dunno exactly, though I still have the physical disc(s) for the base game. This one and the other WW2 rts Sudden Strike were favs of mine from that time period (early 2000's when I was in college - though this one came out a couple years after I finished university). Sudden Strike 2 as well as a legit sold mod for it called "Hidden Stroke" (that you could buy the physical disc for with normal packaging etc) were pretty darn good and because it came with a really exceptional mission editor there was actually a pretty sizable online community (again pre-steam and thus workshop) and I downloaded a good 30 or more user-created missions and some were incredibly well done and I got infinitely more hours out of SS2 and HS2 because of those custom created missions. Some were so in depth, with all kinds of action triggers and text/info bubbles, that I can't imagine how long it must have taken folks to make some of those. I played pretty methodically and I can remember one mission on the battle of Berlin that I spent a good 20+ hrs sweeping the city in the one mission, without it dragging or feeling overly repetitive because of how good the gameplay and mechanics were - in addition the graphics were good not only for the time period but even now, (though I can't run it on my current PC) looking back at images/screen grabs they don't look that bad.

Biltzbrieg 1 actually came out after sudden strike series, which IMO is a more historical and authentic experience ha
I didn't really like Blitzkrieg II because it strayed away from the graphic engine the previous one used. Blitzkrieg with its sub expansions, Cuban Missile Crisis, and Stalingrad all use that good old engine with quite an immersive world, the latter one even had it updated to new heights. I wish they would have an even more improved version to today's standard and make more games in that style.

@@theShermanator Yes, it is an alternative history standalone game that plays in the wake of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis when the Cold War went hot. It is on Steam for like 5 euros. It also uses the original engine of Blitzkrieg, but with cold war assets and multiple factions to play with.
I would love to see you play that mod at some time, it sounds awesome.

I will say nothing new but it's game i abused so much more then any other while i was a kid. I am so suprised that there was commanders for different units, and that if you use reserves in small missions they gonna take that from others. I didn't know that as a kid and just played the game, well now i know why sometimes it was so hard xDD

Blitzrieg 1 is a lot nicer to look at (it was not 3D, but rather beautifully made 2D pixel art-a bit like Cossacks 2). Old 3D graphics do not age well at all.

If you ever do decided to play and upload a Blitzkrieg 2: Total Conversion video, give a brief rundown of how to install it and which files you need to download, because its not easy and a little difficult to understand and it'll save you a ton of comments asking how to install it lol.

tip for the light tanks just take one and drive it through the infantry from end to end on the beach you kill infantry whenever you drive through them you can do that first mission with just the tanks you have on hand. also they make the whole game easier when facing infantry just drive one through and have the rest mg them the infantry auto locks the closest unit and try to grenade it

@@theShermanator o yeah one more thing tanks can kill infantry in trenches perfectly there mg actually has a longer range than the grenade throw range of the infantry so you just find the sweet spot and take out the infantry without suffering any actual losses makes the later missions so much easier you don't just waste all your infantry on them

@@theShermanator I just downloaded a mod called "Sudden Stike 4 ever" that tweaks a lot of values to increase the realism of the campaign. Might be worth checking out again!
