I've never understood why people are so relatively apprehensive about AMS. It's an outstanding sim with an interesting collection of cars and tracks - off the beaten path! - and gets the maximum out of an old engine. I like to compare AMS to Gran Turismo 1 and 2, back when it was GT that introduced us Western bois and gals to the glory that is the Japanese Domestic Market. I had no feckin' idea back when I first played GT what a Nissan Silvia or a Toyota Aristo was, and when AMS came out, I had no idea about Brazilian stock car racing either. Not only did AMS introduce me to Brazilian race cars and race tracks but it sparked an interest in Brazil as a whole. I would've never had the motivation to learn about Brazil if it hadn't been for Automobilista. AMS 2 seems very promising, and I'm eagerly awaiting it. The combination of Project Cars 2's graphics with Reiza's competence when it comes to physics and the most comprehensive standard content of any racing sim should make it the sim to end all sims.
i feel the opposite i knew just about every second car in GT and alot of them were sold here, where as ive still not heard of the south american race tracks in AMS, and ive played it.
but i said this somewhere else its so hard to make someone buy a wheel for AMS, where gt sport and PC2 its much easier.
marcas are amazing though, the best available
Honestly, I like sims that stray away from the usual European haunts. There's so much overlap between PC, AC and GT Sport and it's nice to drive a car on a circuit that's new and alien to me.
@@michaelkitchin9665 My thoughts exactly!
AMS was arguably more successful than Reiza themselves expected, it got a pretty big lifespan for something that was just meant to be Game Stock Car Deluxe. It just wasn't meant to be the one sim to rule them all, maybe that comes with a lack of mainstream appeal but in a sea of GT3s-at-Monza simulators I appreciate the south american content in AMS, the weird swedish stuff in Race 07/Raceroom, and even the lackluster Nascar/oval content in rF2. I wish more developers would embrace variety like that.
Agreed. I really don't understand how people can keep buying new sims just to buy gt3 cars for the 1000th time.
Formula 3 in Automobilista is the most fun I've had in a sim so far, is just awesome
I'll try it out asap 😉
All the openwheelers are awesome. Only the karts suck imo. Its the best sim on the market with regards to FFB, and realism physics. Shame its basically on life support at this moment. I so wished for some more tracks (CotA, RA, Silverstone, Imola etc etc)
The good thing about AMS for me is exactly the "odd mismatch of content". It's a sim that is different from the others, featuring different cars, different tracks, and even some well known cars that are not usually featured in other racing sims (not including mods). For example, the Brazilian Stock Car is a great racing series with beautiful cars, great engine sound, and very talented drivers. It's awesome to finally have it on a racing game (GRID Autosport doesn't count). I always have fun learning about new race tracks and new racing series that I've never seen before.
AMS has been my go to sim for offline racing since it came out. The consistent quality across the board with the cars is fantastic, it has extremely good force feedback, the AI, wile not perfect, are still pretty damn good, and I really appreciate the more obscure cars and tracks. After a wile you kinda get bored of the typical "GT3 at Monza" stuff and want something different and new to learn, sim racing needs more games that dare to be different.
FoxiFyer Better than rFactor 2?
@@TheBlazingRiver I found myself enjoying AMS more than RF2 personally. RF2 is hard to get into out of the box because it relies heavily on mods with inconsistent quality to have a full game experience
FoxiFyer That’s good to know - I had the same experience with rFactor 2, but ended my search there. I’ll give this one a go
5 or 6 of my mates just copped this and it's SICK great to know we make up 10% of current players online when we race hahah

I literally just back into this game and I'm absolutely loving it
I just recently bought AMS and I've been hooked. It's a fantastic "raw" feeling and the AI is super fun.
Coming from a guy who started gaming on a laptop with an i5 processor, 8gb ram and an integrated intel 620 hd graphics card, I have to completely agree with jimmy. This game really does not take a powerful pc to play it and for it to play well. The physics are excellent, there are countless of mods and it’s tonnes and tonnes of fun. I know how a nice powerful pc, however this game is still just as fun to play as it once was on my laptop. I 1000% recommend this game to anyone who hasn’t tried it, whether you have an insane pc or a standard laptop!
My laptop isn't working right now, but do you think an i3, 4GB and Intel HD can run it at least at low graphics?
@@ghost.8836 wauw, 4 weeks ago ? well thats new
i just bought it, my laptop is i7 with 840m nvidia, slightly better than yours but we are on the lowspec spectrum
and i can say the game runs very good on old system, i manage to use 1980x1080 (using HDMI to TV) resolution with all graphic settings set to high and the game runs good even in race with 20+ AI
i don't know about yours, but i think apart from the obvious general settings just use lower resolution would do fine
i watched other review that its hard with controller, i got my wheel week ago and i can say the forcefeedback feel more real than Assetto Corsa
@@rotua98 Wow, thank you very much. As soon as my PC gets fixed, I'll give it a try.

I never knew this existed! And it's 75% off for ultimate edition. I'll purchase this instantly. At 13.5 Euro I'm sure I can get a few hours enjoyment out of it. Cheers Jimmer
Absolut bargain. It's so much fun!
It's my favourite SIM and I've got them all apart from iracing. Which I have about 50 hours in but stopped due to cost
Check in instamtgaming
a few hours ?
be prepare to abandon any other sim wana be game even the highest quality top sims including iracing and rf2
@@mesfigas I indeed stand corrected. The first hours were spent just enjoying doing a few races. Then I discovered the mods. Oh dear. Even the vanilla ultimate edition contains ALOT, but the community behind it..just wow. Best money spent in a while. Again perfect timing by Jimmy to put this up.
My dad literally just finished building an Ultima Evo, the successor to the GTR, a few months back.
The guy who designed it is Lee Noble... yes, that Noble. The spec was basically to design the lightest possible car, with a stupid amount of power, at a decent price. He definitely succeeded - the Evo has 560bhp base, weighs exactly 1 ton, and has no electronic aids at all. No ABS, Traction control, power steering... nothing. It doesn't even have a brake servo. Fucking. Terrifying. And insanely rewarding if you nail an apex on track. You really have to earn it. There's also now a supercharged 1200bhp model, with zero driver aids, which is basically just a very loud coffin.

Just had someone in discord trying to talk me into buying it to race v8 super cars with him, now I gotta do it
I mean, AMS 2 is coming out this year and it'll have the same cars so it may be better to buy the 2nd one
@Shambles1980TRealOne sooo what does that have to do?
@Shambles1980TRealOne I would have to disagree, while it may be on the same engine, they are using it more for visuals and interfaces, it's my understanding that they are using the physics that come with the engine as a starting point, but they are heavily altering them to feel better than pc2. So while they may not beat the rfactor physics, I would be shocked if they are like pc2
@@GiorGiiTV AMS is not that expensive on a sale anyway. Just because there is something newer doesn't make the old one bad. AMS will always be a nice sim to have for some offline/friend racing because it's AI is great and the game has a good chunk of quality content + some mods already established and available.
TLDR; Support Reiza by getting AMS now, and then AMS 2 when it eventually comes out.
I just bought the complete bundle. It's ridiculously cheap!
AMS introduced me to the Metalmoro AJR and for that I can't thank it enough, the V10 version is my favourite car to drive in almost any sim
Aww, new love for AMS! That's awesome Jimmer! I was playing some touring cars (the Marca's) at the newly released Donington last night, great combo. Can't wait to see what Reiza does with AMS2.
For the true sim aficionados (TM) the more obscure south american tracks are one of the best thing about the game. When you have driven 5 million laps around spa and brands hatch it is nice change of pace to drive something totally new.
I stopped the video halfway through to buy the complete bundle, and there's a few minutes until the download is completed. Gonna have a pizza and a beer, then get into the driver's seat. It feels like Christmas morning! :)
This is the kind of influence you have on us, Jimmy! Thanks for your really rather pleasant content, I do declare!
Wow. I love Automobilista and can't wait for AMS2.
Do a race in the Brazilian stock cars on a brazilian circuit you've never driven in, the "Curitiba" circuit is a nice one, is in my home town

Putz, ainda bem que não sou o único BR aqui hahahaha. A propósito alguém aqui sabe se o AMS2 vai ter mods?
Aee Brasil carai.
Please do another AMS video in the Brazilian stock cars at an unknown Brazilian track, love to see that
AMS has been my favourite ever since I got to grips with the F3 cars. Such a wonderful sim. Gonna play it more again after watching this.
This video is about AUTOMOBILISTA. Since it is not in the video title or the description. Just in case anybody wants to look it up and doesn't already know about it.
I wish others on RUclips would use cockpit view just like you, this is how I racing or sim racing should be played. Great video again Jimmy keep up the good work 👍
An important note about AMS: if you're stuck short or long term having to use only a keyboard, this game is the easiest to cope with and adapt to. There is NO mouse steering available though... only keyboard
Thanks Jimmer for showing some love for our baby. Especially for choosing Donington, as Donington is the latest and last track I've participated in building, we're full on with AMS2 now.
If you guys want some stupid fun in this sim, try Buskerud kart track, or Buskerud ice circuit, the fun side-project and lovechild of mine, which then got onboard.
Nice to bring back the attention to AMS, Jimmy! Unfortunately its unlikely that you find drivers in freeroam these days, but thank god there are some active and dedicated leagues out there ;)
Someone spoke me about IVRC doing great online leagues in AMS, am i right? :O
I selfishly hope that Automobilista 2 keeps having this focus on Brazilian racing, being Brazilian myself. I love how Assetto Corsa is unapologetically Italy focused, and I believe that countries that have racing in their blood should invest in doing their own thing. If they don't, you end up with iRacing, which is wonderful, but has a damage model that simulates NASCAR's fender-benders on carbon fibre cars.
Would they be "reinventing the wheel"? Yes. But that's how you push for innovation.
welp, the new damage model of iRacing will be coming soon, for now the Skip Barber cars are the only ones that have it, and the model is very good to say the least
This game also has by far the best karts of any non-kart specific sim. So, so fun.
I race in brazil but live in the US so having the amount of Brazilian tracks they have it helps alot! Also feels really good
I'm Brazilian and I kinda feel like Game Stock Car (which was the baseline for AMS) was made only for us Brazilians sim racers to fool around on a home series, and Reiza wouldn't expect their work to get this reasonable wordwide success. But the guys are too talented, just look at how they programmed an AI much more competent and consistent than what we get on "blockbusters" like Project Cars and Assetto Corsa. If these guys are properly supported, they can deliver much more.
Hey Jimmy, I am brazilian, and there are a lot of brazilian categories in automobilista, and all the the brazilian tracks are from the br stock car callendar. It is one of my favorites sims, i love it!
AMS is basically the reason I got into simracing, I picked it up with the brit pack a year ago at this point and I played it for a bit on a pad and found it challenging. I then picked up a G29 and it completely changed the game for me and opened my eyes to simracing and to this day is my sim of choice for messing around with mods. I definitely recommend picking up the EEC GT3 mod as it adds a load of really well modeled GT3 cars (including the fabulous bentley continental and the utterly spellbinding renault RS01).
On sale on steam right now too!
I think the 2 main reasons that very few people play AMS is firstly that getting peripherals to work, especially unusual or high end ones, is a lottery and secondly the graphics look really good... for circa 2008.
I doubt a lot of sim racers care about graphics.
It’s more about immersion I think
You’re not a loner in a shed. You’re talkative, funny and extremely likeable. Perfect showhost
I race in a brazilian league that almost exclusively uses AMS, its called F1BC and they have 6 or 7 leagues between AMS, iRacing and Assetto Corsa
The V8 Supercars mod for AMS is probably the most fun I've had in a game ever
Yeah, it's awesome and the car sound is spot on.
You gotta search for some leagues, but AMSU and IVRC are clearly the places to be if you're up for some proper good racing.
Thanks though for bringing back the attention to AMS!
when im off my rig i have this on my laptop and its the best racing game ever with a controller. I could drive quite a few of the cars in this game and you would not be able to tell if i was using a pad or a wheel...superb game.
Im a plumber and i did a job in st albans which is in hertfordshire, long story short, i needed materials from the merchants popped out in my van and i saw one of these bad boys, a yellow one! Looked and sounded beautiful 😎
Rubinho now races in the S5000 series in Australasia (new equivalent of the old Formula 5000 category)
I am so freaking hyped for AMS 2!
AMS physics + PC2 graphics could potentially be an almost unbeatable combination!
And if it has mod support, it has a chance of dethroning Assetto Corsa.
It's gonna be sick though
@@colinplaysbanjo3860 it won't, that's been known pretty much since the announcement.
Played this years ago & really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the sequel.
This game its like assetto corsa with an improved AI
One of the best single player experiences in my opinion
Automobilista imo is the best Sinlge Player package on the market atm. Thank you for mentioning it again.
I did a bunch of GT3 leagues with the EEC/GTR2Endurance lads for a few years in AMS with some of the Brazilian TC cars also being in the mix, and still drive it offline every now and again to drive a fun GTLM/GTD Viper around places like the Nordschleife.
But you are right, similar to rFactor, it's lacking the "Jump in and play in an online lobby" that I honestly feel, hasn't been done in a better way than what Simbin did with Race07 (though do feel free to correct me on if PCars 1 or 2, R3E, rF2 or either Assetto Corsa games do this well) in that, more often than not, someone had a public server open for most cars, with the WTCC/STCC cars being the most popular due to them being the main license content leading to packed servers and some good jump in for a few races some nights, whilst also having the locked servers for league usage.
I own it and played GSC a lot a few years back but I think Assetto and rfactor 2 have improved to the point that AMS gets overlooked as the preferred sim to buy for anyone new to sim racing. Wasn't marketed well but it is an absolutely superb sim in its own right.
Jimmy the mods for this game is awesome.. so many and you can even import from Stock Extreme... plenty of tracks to be downloaded as well.. This sim is way underrated ...
Driving manual shift karts in interlagos is my favourite racing sim, but automobilista is not working with VR, but the new automobilista 2 will work on VR, so it's going to be amazing. I hope that the game it's not going to be too expensive.
I'm Brazilian and AMS is my favourite Sim. Of course the fact that have brazilians cars and tracks it's a good thing for me (not so good for the rest of the world, maybe). But I really like physics of the game, one of the best IMO.
i say, this ol "Jimmer" here sounds VERY MUCH LIKE an announcer's voice i just briefly heard in the newest Gran Turismo Sport opening cut scene since the update Oct 4.... Congrats on kinda making it into the game, Jimmer!!
I love AMS. The whole feel of the cars is great and the mod community is good as well. I drive it whenever I can.
I fully agree I loved that sim
Got it a year ago for the stadium super trucks . And I've started championships on every race class on the game. This game is worth every penny
I've just got into this now that it's got vr support. It's really very good.
Almost forgot about this game. Thanks Jimmer.
Brazilian touring and stock cars are superb in Automobilista. As are the retro formulas.
We have a good league in Australia that runs touring cars similar to the wtc with corollas civics and stuff. Really good sim and fun. We run a lot of Brazilian tracks. Mods are good for it to.
Join the AMS Unofficial and you can race AMS several times a week ;)
BTW, personally, I view the "exotic" nature of a lot of AMS content as positive - you get to drive so much of great cars and tracks that are not available anywhere else.
Moving Chicane I agree! AMSUnofficial is the best community for AMS online racing. Always good clean racing there.
Totally agree, the last thing we need from AMS 2 is another GT3 fest. Surely four fairly current sims already focusing on that (rubbish) is enough!
Office worker hands? Jesus, I must work in a rough office.
I think the FFB in AMS is the best out of all sims.

@@colinbowman8816 lfs ffb is far from perfect :O
@@pascha4527 Interesting. It beats the heck out of AC, ACC, Pcars2 for me on Logitech gear. Those are my reference points. Would you agree?
@@colinbowman8816 I think AC is better than LFS. I've not tested many, but AC feel so real to me. LFS have "good-ish" physics in the way the force feedback feel, maybe better in a way than AC, but AC feel so much more like a real car, more road bump, etc, I jumped a car on the nurburgring and it felt incredible. Brazilian Stock Car or just Stock Car Brazil, is a racing series that took part in almost all of fhe Brazilian circuits since 1979...a lot of drivers that particiate the F1 circus on the 70’s or 80’s, raced on it. Names like Chico Serra and Barrichello idol Ingo Hoffmann. Is a very popular series here and in some years they raced on some other circuits on South America, like the Buenos Aires circuit that was a F1 race from 96-98
Just saw your tweet read out on WRC live. I need to catch up on your channel
Got a whole indycar league on AMS a lot of fun
Picked it up with all DLC for $21AUD just last week. Such a well polished game after Rfactor2 (broken UI) and assetto corsa's Italian designed UI (broken for me).
A mate and I have been playing at servers of late and I can see automobilista being a feature.
Good to see you racing in it actually!
Looking forward to AMS2, currently really enjoying Raceroom!
Love donnington. Raced at it last friday
Would love to see more of this Jimbo, maybe the Brazilian Stock Cars on a Brazil street circuit? Been a while since we had an overtaking challenge
Hey Jimmy, hope you get to see this. I've been racing a long time (mainly shifter karts, but also some cars) and recently started getting into sim racing. I have a Logitech G27 that is a good starter wheel. However (and I admit I haven't played with settings a huge amount) I'm still finding I don't like the feel it gives compared to a real car and that oversteer is hard to 'feel'. Is it better with the higher end wheels like yours?
I used to play it, since it was called race stock car extreme, I got a vr and stopped playing it since. Can't wait for automobilista 2 and vr support.
I'm hyped for AMS2!
AMS is sorta like the original rFactor in a way, it's overlooked because nobody really plays anymore but there's so much content that's still worth experiencing, especially for newer simracers. The old Opala stock cars are some of the most fun you'll have in simracing.
I JUST WAS PLAYING THIS YESTERDAY!!! Please go into the config settings and test the different filters. So few sims have them anymore. But I feel that AMS2 is going to be a knockout. I personally love the Madness engine and Reiza getting their hands on it should be incredible.
Can't wait for AMS2, finally we will be able to enjoy it in VR, it's the only thing missing to AMS at the moment.
Also if you use RaceDepartment you can get a whole heap of tracks and cars that are well known and for what they are are pretty well done by the modders
Have you asked Niels about hardware setup, since you use his pedals and he seems to run them and direct drive on this no problem?
Race 07 was pretty good racing sim and one of my favorites games I have ever played... I still love to play it and it really gets me excited u knoe, even today...
Im from Brazil and automobilista is a Brazilian game, but here its the most famous simulator everyone plays it
Awesome game. Thx Jimmer
I really like this game, when I'm to lazy for vr, i always play this :D
The Brazilian cars might as well be fantasy cars to me. I really hope they acquire more licenses for cars In familiar with. Not GT3 cars but some older cars like Group C, Group 5, GTO stuff like that.
New release like this are so few and far between in sim racing, I have to wish for everything.
Only game that has my hometown's Tarumã circuit. Hope they keep it for 2.
Great video Jimmer ! More Automobilista please !
would be nice to see some more videos from this game
I think these type of games need a carreer mode for the players that play hardcore sim games onine to have something to play so the game´s life is expanded
Hell yeah. AMS rocks... honestly it's my favourite sim, in addition to Assetto Corsa. But AMS has even better FFB than Assetto, without the pain of rFactor 2 UI and lack of content. AI is really solid too. Also, there's lots of good mod tracks for this in RaceDepartment (many of the more popular/common tracks) by Patrick Giranthon. They are pretty similar quality as official, for the most part (he actually was one of the people involved in making the official tracks, and his mod tracks use many official assets so they look very similar)
Shredd agreed! Patrick’s tracks are a must have free download addition
I haven't even watched the Video yet and 1000% agree with your sentiment J-bangs. I recently read from Reiza that their physics cycle frequency is insanely high, which explains why it feels so alive compared to all the other sims.
Used to hotlap and race AI in this every chance I had...
Might have to jump back in at some point.
The 20s to 60s Formula content in Automobilista is really nice.
The Formula Vee is humanity's best drunk idea, and the AMS FVee is a real hidden gem of sim racing. I love that car an unhealthy amount. Don't sleep on the AMS Mini Coopers either - they're great.
I actually bought AMS because it was on steam sale when I started watching Jimmer after I got my wheel.
Also has Formula Truck which is the BEST part in my mind.
Thanks for making us aware of this sim. And I would pick this donington layout too 😊 and I need to go get me one of those please no punterino t shirts 👕
Your temps are fine mate, 90-95 is optimal for thermal efficiency within an engine, radiator fans usually come on around 105c and on track seeing 110c is quite normal under sustained full load WOT.
Could have touched on the GT3 and GTE mods for this game as well, awesome stuff :)
