    For me, it is the most beautiful, inspiring, and peaceful butterfly tutorial ever uploaded in RUclips history. Practicing for months for effortless movement, nearly completed, I am inspired by them whenever I make revisit, healing time to watch the three lessons. Can't thank you enough......

    I got confidence to learn and swim the butterfly from this video. She's calming to watch. The movements sink in with repeated watching.
    She showed me you don't need to swim it like Pacman out of breath nor need crazy shoulder muscles.
    Thank you.

    I enjoyed reading the comments as much as watching the video! The aim of the video is to explain how to swim a fluid elongated butterfly without rushing any of the movements. This cannot be accomplished by most swimmers as it takes so much power to push all that water back when you take a lot of water with your arms. They have fully met their objective, I will also try to take less water with my arms that way I will be able to make a more complete arm movement. Why on earth people keep bringing comments about the swimming performance as this was not the intent. The beauty of this approach is that it makes the butterfly stroke available to more people when presented that way as once you mastered the movement with a few modifications you can really improve your speed but it is going to cost you energy wise. In any case bravo for the video and thank you for the numerous comments made by novice swimmers which love criticizing more than learning something interesting, you are doing an amazing job of criticizing. 😁😁😁 Life is good! 😁😁😁

      nu vad ce e de criticat la acest film. Se prezinta, fara multa vorbarie, elementele de baza ale inotului delfin. Recunosc ca perfectionarea mea in acest stil a atras dupa sine si o perfectionare la dans !

    力強いバタフライも良いですが、しなやかで優雅に・・見ていてリラックスな感じを受けるコノ映像は本当に癒されます!水しぶきが上がらない泳ぎはとても美しく素敵に思います。私も呼吸を上手く使い、ゆっくりシナヤカに優雅に見せれるバタフライを目指したいと思います。海原を対岸に向け一人バタフライはBGMと共に引込まれます!映像最後のアニメーションにもしびれました。良い映像をありがとう!

    For people wondering about the size/depth of the wave pattern she's making - it's because that's how you make a wave pattern work at a slow speed. She's demonstrating a butterfly stroke at quite a slow/easy pace. When your pace is slow, the wave needs to be exaggerated. It's like dolphin kicks - the slower the dolphin, the larger the amplitude of the kick needs to be. When you dolphin kick at a faster rate, the amplitude of the kicks becomes smaller. This is true in butterfly as well. It's true in anything you do that creates a 'wavelike' pattern. To do a butterfly at a slow pace with a narrow wave is awkward and difficult. The amplitude of the wave must be exaggerated in order to be fluid and effective. Faster butterfly involves a narrower wave with a slightly higher body position. To be able to swim butterfly well at any speed required some modification to the technique. This video is an example of the technique that works best for a slower pace.
    In a dolphin, your body is the 'wave pattern'. In butterfly, the path that your body follows through the water is the wave pattern.

    • @UNLVmatrix
      @UNLVmatrix 6 лет назад +12

      Yes - good explanation re wave amplitude. Normally, it is very difficult to swim butterfly slowly as the hips tend to drop more. Vicky has to dive deeper, increasing the wave pattern, in order to make her stroke effective. Most of the butterfly instruction videos on RUclips show it as a racing stroke.

      As a butterfly swimmer I find it much easier to speed up and slow down by my kicks ,the more powerful the kicks the power then gets the arms over and the faster I go,pulling my arms as they go into the water . To swim butterfly slow isn't really showing the actual movent from tip of your fingers to your feet.

    Everyone says butterfly is the most exhausted stroke, many says that you can't really do a slow butterfly as your hips will drop drastically but here, this video shows if you are calm and relax in water your body will do wonders.

  • @gamer-ff6mh
    @gamer-ff6mh 2 года назад +24

    Tried this today. Massive improvement in distance. I am only 1 week into mastering the butterfly movement perfectly for 25 m. Could barely keep the proper form more than 25 m.. But with this I can do 150 m + without much tiring. Also since this form is slower I could work on the proper movements and my coach also commended me on being able to improve on the points which he was suggesting (and I wasn't able to since a week).
    The only downside might be the speed. My earlier timing was 21 s for 25 m without dive. Now it is 28 s but I feel I can easily swim this form, continuously for a kilometre with more practice.
    Also previously when I reached the end of the pool and stopped, a second later a wave used to follow me from both sides and I could hear it splash on the pool end, which probably means I was dragging so much water with me. But with this form, the water to the side is absolutely undisturbed. I am cruising through the pool like a needle, straight, without any water splashing or anyone to the sides feeling the wave of my stroke. It is immensely relaxing and meditative in that sense.

    • @filipvelkov6829
      @filipvelkov6829 7 лет назад +5

      terence channer As competitive swimming might suggest? When you're competing its all about power and technique, not just the way you swim. Plus this type of butterfly is very slow, in competitive butterfly you don't go as deep on the first kick, you're close to the surface at all time, skipping across the water with a powerful second kick and arm pull. There's no thrill like swimming fast fly when you have energy in you! :D

      terence channer

    • @leomdk939
      @leomdk939 6 лет назад +5

      Filip Velkov I think what terence meant is that this video demonstrates that it is possible to butterfly at a slower/easier pace but it's much better with a modified technique, as demonstrated in this vid. She has a larger amplitude to her 'wave' pattern through the water, which is necessary to maintain consistent speed and to minimize effort at this slower pace. The reason why people think you can't swim butterfly slowly is because they don't understand the principle that slower waves need larger amplitudes (like the dolphin kick ... fast rate = smaller kicks whereas slow rate = larger kicks). If you try to swim butterfly slowly with the same technique/shape you use to swim fast butterfly, you're gonna have a bad time. :)

      @@filipvelkov6829 I am 32 years. I do enjoy the fast butterfly. There is no doubt an adrenaline pumping thrill in it. Infact it draws eyeballs and also builds lower abs. But with the summer pool so crowded now, I recently got injured for a month due to ramming into someone at peak butterfly speed 😔. Well returning back, slow was the only butterfly I could do in the crowded pool. As boring as it might have felt initially, man, there was a meditative thing to it! I am enjoying it as well!

      It's not slow as shit. You have to swim butterfly wth enough strength to get your arms completely out of the water, swung around, and back into the water. The point is that she's able to get that done without straining. There is little in swimming more difficult than swimming butterfly slow.

    1
    00:00:00,840 --> 00:00:05,640
    Lesson 3 - integrating the breath
    제 3 과 호흡 완성하기
    2
    00:00:11,120 --> 00:00:15,760
    In this lesson, Steven and Vikki show you how to synchronize the breathing with the wave and the arms.
    이번 과에서는, 스티븐과 비키가 어떻게 하여 물결치기 그리고 팔 동작과 함께 호흡을 맞추는지 보겠습니다.
    3
    00:00:16,040 --> 00:00:21,500
    To give you a sense of space, create a flowing and powerful stroke and minimize tension.
    팔 젓기 사이의 간격이 주는 여유로움을 느끼기 위해서는, 긴장감을 최소화하면서도 거침없이 그리고 강력하게 저으십시요.
    4
    00:00:31,100 --> 00:00:33,220
    1. Fly breath standing
    1. 서서 하는 접영 호흡
    5
    00:00:33,960 --> 00:00:34,940
    Breathe in.
    숨을 들이마시고.
    6
    00:00:36,440 --> 00:00:37,520
    Breathe out.
    숨을 내뱉으세요.
    7
    00:00:41,680 --> 00:00:48,800
    More space is created for the in-breath by allowing the eyes and head to move first, before the arms release back.
    팔을 뒤로 빼기 전에, 시선과 머리를 먼저 움직여야, 숨을 들이마실 공간을 더 확보할 수 있습니다.
    8
    00:00:53,460 --> 00:00:58,060
    Be mindful of releasing your neck, before the arms sweep around in the recovery.
    되돌리기 위해 팔을 둘러 쓸기 전에, 목의 힘을 풀어 앞으로 가게 하는 것에 신경쓰십시요.
    9
    00:00:59,660 --> 00:01:01,820
    2. Breathing alternate strokes
    2. 번갈아 숨쉬기
    10
    00:01:04,010 --> 00:01:09,070
    Breathing on every other stroke enables you to establish a good sustainable rhythm.
    팔 젓기 두 번에 한 번씩 숨 쉬는 것을 통해 한결같이 유지할 수 있는 리듬을 익힐 수 있습니다.
    11
    00:01:37,659 --> 00:01:42,679
    Putting too much effort into the pull on the breathing stroke can upset your rhythm and timing.
    숨 쉴 때 팔 젓기에 너무 많은 힘을 들이면 리듬과 때맞춤(timing)을 뒤집을 수도 있습니다.
    12
    00:01:43,160 --> 00:01:47,400
    Explorer putting less effort in when releasing the arms back on the breathing stroke.
    숨 쉬면서 팔을 뒤로 뺄 때 적은 힘을 들이도록 하는 방법을 찾으십시요.
    13
    00:01:51,320 --> 00:01:55,020
    Notice how the head gently rows allowing space to breathe in.
    어떻게 하여 머리를 부드럽게 저어 숨 쉴 수 있는 공간을 확보하는지 깨달으십시요.
    14
    00:03:00,780 --> 00:03:07,000
    Avoid the head coming out of water for too long, as you'll find your hips sinking too low and lose your momentum.
    머리를 물 밖에 너무 오래 내놓지 마십시요, 엉덩이가 너무 낮게 가라앉아 앞으로 움직이는 관성을 잃어버릴 수 있습니다.
    15
    00:03:10,900 --> 00:03:16,560
    Arms release as they pass the hips to allow the recovery to be light, long, and loose.
    팔이 엉덩이를 지날 때 팔의 힘을 빼, 가벼우면서 길고 느슨한 되돌리기를 하십시요.
    16
    00:03:23,660 --> 00:03:28,640
    It isn't necessary to change the rhythm of the stroke to incorporate the breath.
    숨 쉬는 동작을 같이 하기 위해서 접영 영법의 리듬을 변화시킬 필요는 없습니다.
    17
    00:04:16,720 --> 00:04:24,840
    Notice how Vikki and Steven's action is led by the movement of the head and how they're listening to the water to find the rhythm .
    어떤 식으로 비키와 스티븐의 전체 동작이 머리의 움직임에 이끌리고, 리듬을 찾기 위해 어떻게 물소리에 귀 기울이는 지 깨달으십시요.
    18
    00:04:30,120 --> 00:04:31,880
    Nothing is hurried.
    서두르는 것은 하나도 없습니다.
    19
    00:05:31,640 --> 00:05:35,120
    Butterfly is arguably the most intelligent of the strokes.
    접영이라는 것이 가장 어려운 영법이라는 것은 논쟁의 여지가 있지만 거의 틀림 없습니다.
    20
    00:05:38,260 --> 00:05:45,440
    It requires the swimmer to develop a real sense of float, rhythm and timing in the body, and to harmonize these with the water.
    접영을 하기 위해서는 몸동작에 있어서 띄워진다는 느낌, 리듬, 그리고 때맞춤을 길러야 하고, 또한 이 세 가지가 물과 함께 조화를 이루어야 합니다.
    21
    00:06:40,960 --> 00:06:43,860
    Taking time to master this challenging and enjoyable stroke,
    어렵지만 재미있는 이 영법을 시간을 충분히 들여 익히십시요,
    22
    00:06:44,160 --> 00:06:47,120
    will improve the flexibility and mobility of your spine,
    척추의 유연성과 가동성을 늘려주고,
    23
    00:06:47,340 --> 00:06:49,860
    strengthen and broaden the muscles of your back,
    허리 근육을 강하게 또 널찍하게 만들어주어,
    24
    00:06:50,100 --> 00:06:52,180
    help develop your core stability,
    코어의 안정성을 개발할 수 있고,
    25
    00:06:52,240 --> 00:06:54,960
    and certainly adds another dimension to your swimming.
    틀림없이 당신의 수영 생활에 또 다른 차원을 더할 것입니다.
    26
    00:06:57,360 --> 00:07:00,500
    And the sea awaits you. Happy flying!~
    바다가 당신을 기다리고 있네요. 행복하게 날아보세요!~
