There is a bit more to come on that engine story. As we said, we will shoot up to speak with the mechanic and hopefully get a clearer picture next week. The fish on the other hand was incredible and so good to be able to share it with every boat in the anchorage.
@@RedSeas We call it Hustlers. People that led you believe that they are no good in an item, until you put money on the table... A while back I wanted to offer advice on fishing... Damn, am I lucky I did not!. You both have been hauling out stuff I have only ever dreamt of😂🤣
@@RedSeas Yep Tasting as well as the fight. I had a 32ft Wahoo offshore fishing boat and landed a few off the South African North coast. I got jealous...
Knocked it out of the park, as usual! We had a 3.5 meter manta tangle in our anchor bridal last month near New Caledonia. My wife was snorkeling and filmed the gentle giant as I used the windlass to winch him up and set him free unharmed. They are very cool, especially when you are seeing the manta eye to eye from 1 foot away.
They are just crazy! Like ballet dancing meets aerobatics, we just love watching them swooping around. Wouldn’t have known what to do if one wrapped up in our anchor bridle tho. Well done for freeing it. I was worried the fish I snagged might have been a mantra at first.
It’s looking so good. Thank you guys so much. That fish nearly took my hands off but it was well worth the effort. Wonder if we would have had an easier time of it with a proper rod tho
I absolutely wholeheartedly agree the cruising Community is absolutely awesome. No way you'll be able to find so many like minded people anywhere. I miss cruising a lot. That fish was huge, and you get to feed several boats out of it and got more friends in return, cruisers are awesome (I already said that didn't I)
Nailed it on the head. Love the cruising family and so pleased we were able to feed the village with that catch. Hope we managed to share a small reminder of how good it feels to share these moments together as we cruise around.
Yeah baby! We are still eating it and the freezer is full! Fishing bans are in place (as in, Brioni won’t let me put the lines out) but I sneak the odd one in when she isn’t looking 😜
Cheers Robin, it’s certainly a combination of those things for us too 😆 it’s a wild ride and we are loving it. Sometimes it would be nice to have a steady income and not need to set the anchor alarm to go to bed but where’s the fun in that. Hope we manage to catch up while we are back in Scotland
@@RedSeas My thoughts are with you both. I'd like to send some treats out to you. Is it best to post them to a harbour that you plan to dock in? Yup if you are back in Scotland, please let me know. It would be great to catch up.
Don’t feel the need to do that at all but if you really want to, we can usually work out an address depending where we will be. Sometimes we are literally hundreds of miles from civilisation so it can take a bit of planning but nothing is impossible. 😊
@@RedSeas I´ve become a Patron - which I see that you've seen. So that should suport you a bit. I thought it would be nice to get some ice cream or chocolate to you. Everyone needs a bit of a pick-me-up sometimes.
Interesting how so many cruisers come together in one place. Did you two plan this? Or just happenstance? Either way pretty awesome the community of cruisers and how they look out for one another, break bread and share adventures around the campfire. It's somewhat reminiscent of wagon caravans traveling the old west back in the day. Everyone is going in the same direction, but not necessarily to the same place, but somehow everyone meets up around the campfire before ambling onward. Loved the undersea adventures being filmed, more of that----hint hint scuba. You two look so joyous. Very happy for you two. The long pacific crossing with its ups and downs was definitely worth it. 💌💌💌
It’s one of our favourite parts of sailing. The community is so much fun and everyone knows that we may only ever meet once or twice on our journey so those encounters are always so much more intense. It’s amazing to think how many friends we keep in touch with all over the world who we may have only physically met a hand full of times. We have the dive tanks filled and we will most definitely be capturing some more underwater adventures. This part of the world has some incredible diving.
We are doing our best. It’s been a really tough few months but so many highs throughout it all. So pleased we were able to share this fish with everyone in the anchorage too
The underwater was so awesome. And it is kind of nice to see other channels being indicated. I knew several had went that direction, but since none is real time you don’t really know how far apart you are. As a note, I am pretty sure Colin on Parley Revival also has experience as a super yacht engineer.
Cheers. Yeah we all have to take time to edit our episodes and get them out to patreon (and later RUclips) so things can take a bit of time to reach everyone. 😊
Those were some EPIC shots of the manta rays! And can't believe you can get that close, way cool! And how funny about the fishing. I watch a number of sailing channels and often laugh with them at how difficult a time they have at catching anything. You two seem to be the fish whisperers or something:-) Can't wait for when I can share in such adventures! In the meantime, thanks for sharing. Really helps my anxiety!
It’s so special when marine wildlife want to get so close. The secret with mantas is to float nice and still, they will come up and check you out and sometimes want to play a little with your bubbles. Yeah, that sea monster is a bit of a record breaker for us. And from a dinghy! Crazy.
Was doing some clean up around the house and missed the episode release, but, 3rd ain’t bad,,,,,great to see that you have much better conditions for boat projects and repairs,,,,
Hey, perhaps we need to get you onboard to do some cleaning around here 😂 yeah, repairs at anchor are soooo much easier than when we are underway. If only we had all the parts we need 😆

Figured it was a good thing. And we couldn’t agree more. It’s one of the best feelings to be able to share food with everyone in the anchorage and of cruising has shown us anything it is that the community of sailors are always excited to share food, stories and help each other whenever possible. 😀
Thank you. He was able to circulate oil thru all the capillaries of the engine manually which made a big difference, unfortunately it’s not actually fixed but will help to get us to a mechanic for more in depth investigation. It’s a pretty tired old engine
Sadly yes. Hopefully we will know more next week when we get up to hiva oa to meet with a mechanic. (Patrons are getting that episode right now actually)
We are going to have to come up with a book or something for these laws. As always, you are bang on the money. We wouldnt be anywhere if it wasn’t for the community around us both sailing and online.
11:48 Love your channel but please clean your back steps. They gross me out with the green slime, plus they might be slippery. Compare to the sterns of the other boats. 😂
I hear you. We just finished 6 weeks on an ocean crossing where they spent most of the time under water but We have actually cleaned them a lot since this episode so you don’t have to hold on too much longer 😂 It’s been pretty hard work to keep indi looking clean now that her GelCoat is so old it’s mostly dust (20 years of abuse) but we do our best. Perhaps some day we will find a way to repaint her or something.
What a relief on the engine. phew..saved by a wahoo from King Neptune and very mechanical anchorage. Smiling again . Thank goodness 🤣

Good karma! We assumed your marine engineer would be Colin, or that Breeyawn would have a look. Cool!
Both had a chat about it as they were both in the bay at various points.
Manta's are truly awesome. More of the underwater world please. That area of the world is incredible.

They are sooo cool to watch. We will try and capture a whole lot more dive footage while we are here. First we need to get thru a bunch of repairs 😊

Did Colin with Parley look at your engine
Sadly he didn’t get a chance but we had a fun chat with him and with Brian from Delos about it. All looks pretty terminal sadly. We will see tho
You need a fishing rod!!!
It would probably have made catching that monster a little safer but it was still manageable with the hand reel. Rods just cost soooo much.
