You missed a part of this. Nintendo patented those mechanics *after* Palworld released into early access. They are even more scummy than you previously thought.
While still scummy, Nintendo actually branched off one of their existing patents and made more narrowed down and specific categories out of it. They did it after Palworld came out, yes, but the patents are still valid retroactively to the parent patent they branched off of, which was filed before Palworld came out.
I'm gunna just start pirating. You don't own your games anymore and they're copyrighting basic mechanics. Surprised counting to 3 and swimming isn't patented (I believe someone tried with the swimming).
