I had very low expectations for this film, but I enjoyed it. I heard it was boring and slogged in the middle, I kept waiting for that to happen but it never did. I was pretty invested the entire time
glad to hear I'm in the same boat! I noticed it had the lowest ratings of all the movies and reviews were not convincing me to watch it but I decided to and was pleasantly surprised!
the movie sucked, it had potential but the music seemed out of place, some of the actors can't sing for shit, and the cgi was terrible especially for Tom Thumb. I like musicals but that movie was bad. The only good parts were Zac Efron, Hugh Jackman, and Zendaya. Michelle Williams is a TERRIBLE singer oh my god.
xo Noir It's really worth the watch. The singing might get annoying at some point, the ending is quite abrupt and too 'happy-endish' and there are some plot holes in the movie. But overall it's worth your time.
I too agree 3 & 4 isn't as good as 1 & 2 (mainly because James Wan is a phenomenal director), but I wouldn't call the Insidious film series terrible at all. Most sequels are terrible in general and their scripts are potato quality.
i watched the 3rd movie with my friends without any knowledge of the 1st&2nd movie and i thought it was one of the worst horror movies iv'e seen. no plot whatsoever , relies on dumb jumpscares every 3 minutes , and the acting felt underwhelming . i dont know what it is but we spent more time laughing than actually pissing our pants. hopefully the others were better as you say
Oh thank god....mayhaps Hollywood IS learning "hey they want good shtick all the time"? God here's hoping. Cause....BOY did 2018 start off with a sound of some sort. Not quite a bang...Is a sound though.
Mate397 true like war for the planet of the apes only redeeming quality being its cinematography and capture motion technology. It's overly long boring and utterly confounding
I got Insidious The Last Key commercials for 4 weeks straight I wanted to go watch it but after the 2 weeks of dealing with the commercials and I did not want to go watch it because it is so annoying.
Split was even better than this (Last Key) I loved that Chris have put Split in his top While with others I felt that they kinda forgot about it / that it was a movie from 2017 It was also in a year when Bates Motel had his last season.. so I liked Split even more (both having splited personalities)
For me Elise is a much more interesting character and has a much more compelling background than the Warrens. I also think that this more intimate take of the Insidious franchise make me connect much more with the plot than in the two Conjuring movies where the story is diluted in so much characters without a clear focus and where the threats are so vague.
They tie these movies together relatively well too which makes for really cool marathon potential. I want to watch them in chronological order when this comes out on VOD.
I totally agree with you!!!! I saw an advanced screening of this film and all of these reviews coming out about it right now have been trash. I always love watching your reviews and you are such an inspiration to me and my reviews!! Thank you for making videos!
"On par with the third one" Well the third is my favorite in the series. Something about being crippled and locked in a room with a spirit that wants to hurt you is just a terrifying thought.
Dear Chris. I have come to trust your movie advice and recommendations implicitly. Your clear love of the art of film making is apparent in every word spoken in each of your reviews. In point of fact I haven't seen a movie since 2015 without you saying their was something there worth looking at and or experiencing. I too once had aspirations of becoming the next great director. Even taking it as far as attending two years of film school. However becoming a father and husband obliged me to seek other forms of employment. Do not misunderstand me. I would not trade my life as a family man for a mountain of gold. However. I am surrounded by friends and family that will never understand my or your love of good cinema. I recently recommended three of my favorite films to a friend of mine. Who promptly declared that he hated each of them. I was wondering if you would do me the honor of reviewing these films and telling me weather or not Im crazy for enjoying them. When and if you choose too. That is. The films are. 1. The Wind And The Lion 2. The Abyss. Directors cut 3. The Duellists Sincerely and respectfully . J. R. Jeansonne. Post Script Pease forgive any spelling or grammatical errors. Im dyslexic.
Stan nice Me too! It’s hard to explain but all the Oscar movies come out in that beginning of the year period whereas they always come out the end of the previous year in America. Really makes me feel like I’m missing out though :(
Thanks so much for receiving this movie! I’m huge fan of the series and was apprehensive about seeing this one in theaters. Was waiting for a trusted critic’s review and I’ve always respected your work.
Im tired of prequels. I just want insidious to continue on after the 2nd movie. Ill still watch and enjoy it though i just would rather the next sequel to be a continuation.
Really love what you said about Lin Shaye! Super happy/excited for her as I've always been curious re her character's backstory, and her acting in this franchise has always been consistently fantastic.
January isn't as bad for horror films as it used to be. For 2018, we have the solid Insidious 4, for 2017 the amazing Split and in 2016 the spooktacular Autopsy of Jane Doe (you see what I did there? ) Ps I wonder if you read the comments, Chris. (just a thought :)
My FAV movie reviewer on RUclips by a lot!!!!!!!!!!!! I can watch any review you do and know you wont spoil a movie if I have not seen it. I have similar tastes with you and I appreciate you because of all that. Great Job Chris and cheers from Canada.
I watched "Insidious: The Last Key" yesterday without ever seeing the other movies in the franchise. Overall, it was pretty good. The beginning was scary when they told about Elise's childhood, because of the jump scares it had to offer. The ending did make me a little sad, however. It didn't have the fear that the beginning of the movie brought, making it not as enjoyable. That isn't to say that the ending was bad. When Elise's mother showed up, it gave me happiness to see that mother-daughter reunion, along with the brother-sister reunion when Elise goes to the hospital to check on Melissa after escaping the further. I am glad that Christian apologized to Elise in the end because come on; holding a grudge for that long? I understand that his father was an abusive man, but he could have run away before or after Elise when he was a child. It also gave me great joy that Elise's father sacrificed himself for his daughter at the end. It was a triple family reunion! Sort of. I don't know if seeing the father and beating him to death is considered a reunion, but it does give of the impression of a reunion when he sacrifices himself for Elise. The death of KeyFace could have been done a little better though. He dies after Elise blows the whistle that Imogen found, summoning her mother. Elise's mother then proceeds to kill Keyface by hitting him once. But come on! Only one hit and he's dead?! I was expecting something a little more intense. If KeyFace had fed off of the hatred of Elise's father all those years, then he should have been much stronger, making the final battle a little longer. I'm going to give this movie an 8-out-of-10. It has its flaws, but overall a great scary movie.
Very happy to hear that The Last Key is not terrible. I'm also a fan of the Insidious movies and now I am very excited to see it. Thanks for another great review!
Chris, I just want to say, but I love your videos. I've just had a really shit week but your upload reminds me why I have the motivation to keep going. You're the best man. :)
Glad to see this didn’t join The Devil Inside, Texas Chainsaw, The Bye-Bye Man, or all of those other awful horror films that release in January. While it’s not the best, it’s at least a step in the right direction
and still people will always complain that there are no women led movies. just tell an amazing story with ORIGINAL characters without butchering existing male led movies. If the storie is good, well executed, well directed - people WILL love it :)
Cameren Ceniceros I hope it’s not I actually like the insidious story line because it’s always a different setting but it still connects to the story line
In your Insidious Chapter 3 review you said it was a better film than Chapter 2. You praised the acting and directing and said it was just below the first film. Now in this review you say that the third one is worse than the second and is just “fine” and is on par with this one???
I've been watching your videos for years, and as the title intro started playing, in my head I heard, "Insidious, the last key", and then I was like, "he starts all his videos with the title, how did I not realise this before?". Now that my epiphany is over I'll go back to watching the review
I loved the humor with those two paranormal investigators in the first two, in particular the second one which to me is the best movie so i hope the humor in this one does not disapoint me. And you're right its great to have an old lady as the lead . She was already the best thing in the other movies.
N84DaWin ! The second film was a little bit better with overall storytelling it was less of a horror movie and more about adding to the world it was setting up. One of my favorite things about this series is the introduction of the farther I think it's a cool different name for spirit world. But I think like most people I'm still waiting to see more of the Darth Maul demon 😂.
I believe this is the correct and logical order that makes since: A.) Did she take cases as a kid? NO; it was after she ran away; shown in part 4. B.) Did she take Quinn's case when she was an adult? Yes; shown in part 3. C.) Was Dalton her last case alive? Yes - shown in part 1 D.) Did she help fight for souls in the after life? Yes; shown in part 2. *Therefore the timeline is: Part 4, Part 3, Part 1, then Part 2.* I'm excited about the thrill of the movie. The writers are brilliant; psychologically. In the tunnel, to create in the audience, the belief that the ghost was behind the suitcase was done beautifully. The ghost breathing seemed to be further down the tunnel; she flashed her light down the tunnel, to enforce in the audiences mind that the ghost is definitely behind the pile of suitcases, then he pops out of the suit case! Brilliant psychological thriller. The girl in the bathroom turned out to be real!!! cold/twisted/plot and that was genius. The police station and interrogation rooms are naturally believe to be a place of safety, to the human mind, and at the part of the movie, it's common to let our guards down and sip some soda; so for the ghost to pop up in the interrogation room behind the detective was very clever. Oscar? hell yes.
I sure the creator of this franchise is a METAL fan, because the Nun looks like Marilyn Manson and one of the demons looks like "Eddie" of IRON MAIDEN,huh??
You are amazing with your reviews and I have come to pretty much rely on them to determine if I go see the movie in the theater or wait for DVD! Keep up the good work 😁😁😁
Hey Chris, I know you are probably busy reviewing and watching other movies but I was wondering if you could watch Train to Busan? It is probably one of the best zombie movies I have ever seen. It has amazing character development, super emotional and very intense.
AAAH I love that elderly people are becoming main characters in media right now. I just watched the anime Inuyashiki and the main character is this old man and you would not expect him to be a protagonist, but he is and it's amazing and I am so glad that this is how media is becoming, it's so refreshing.
"Hollywood, are you actually trying? You're scaring me." 😂😂 too funny and true
imissmyoldchannel Hollywood films are getting better and that is scaring me too now! Good luck indie films! hahahahahaha

The Greatest Showman review?
Yes, I’m really confused it seems no major RUclipsr reviewed it which is odd. I really wanted to hear some thoughts on the movie.
the movie sucked, it had potential but the music seemed out of place, some of the actors can't sing for shit, and the cgi was terrible especially for Tom Thumb. I like musicals but that movie was bad. The only good parts were Zac Efron, Hugh Jackman, and Zendaya. Michelle Williams is a TERRIBLE singer oh my god.
xo Noir beyond the trailer reviewed it
James Vasquez I Respect Your Opinion
xo Noir
It's really worth the watch.

AND Oscar reactions please.
Firas Kharouba Golden globes too
Please do this chris!
I feel like he's gonna flip out if Blade Runner 2049 won't win
He quit doing that few yrs ago
The Founder came out last January, and it was damn good.
Why do so many horror sequels have to be prequels?
Because they can't get the actors from the first two to come back time and time again.
They killed off their one recurring character in the first one lol.
Michael Rieman She isn't dead
Commander Shepard lol yeah she is. She dies at the end of the first one. HENCE prequels.
Because they realized the best part of the Insidious movies is Elise after having killed her off in the first movie.
Lin Shaye is such an incredible actress. Much love and respect for her work!
Oh thank god....mayhaps Hollywood IS learning "hey they want good shtick all the time"?
God here's hoping. Cause....BOY did 2018 start off with a sound of some sort. Not quite a bang...Is a sound though.
RibottoStudio Hollywood doesn't learn.
it didn't learn, Insidious: The Last Key is actually terrible.
The only thing Hollywood learned is that people are easily amused by pretty visuals everything else can suck though.
Mate397 true like war for the planet of the apes only redeeming quality being its cinematography and capture motion technology. It's overly long boring and utterly confounding
Bye Bye was god tier levels of absolute hot diarrhea garbage
Hey Chris can you please review one of my favourite films, Monty Python:The holy grail?

Could you review the Dollars Trilogy.
Matt Kid

YES PLEASE
That would be amazing
Matt Kid and once upon time in west
Matt Kid that would be awesome
I got an Insidious ad before this video
Daniel Attrell me too.
Daniel Attrell What! Is that a sign of some sort?
I got Insidious The Last Key commercials for 4 weeks straight I wanted to go watch it but after the 2 weeks of dealing with the commercials and I did not want to go watch it because it is so annoying.
Osvaldo Mogollon
Yeah the movie is on my blacklist because unskillable horror ads, that have screaming in the first few seconds, make me pretty angry.
I’m upset they didn’t have the scene in the asylum with all the ghosts exiting their cells from the trailer.
The Last Key has broken the January Horror Movie curse! For the most part.
Charlene Alyssa Ingram Split did that
StoneCold316 Oh, yeah. You're right. It did. 😲
Split was even better than this (Last Key)
I loved that Chris have put Split in his top
While with others I felt that they kinda forgot about it / that it was a movie from 2017
It was also in a year when Bates Motel had his last season.. so I liked Split even more (both having splited personalities)
King Chrollo what??? 🤨
King Chrollo why are you so discriminatory towards dark skinned girls wtf it’s 2018 and people still call them out for stupid shit

Could you do a review on “The usual suspects”?
Anders I second this
Bryan Singer is Keyser Soze
a B- horror movie is supposed to give me hope for January?
"On par with the third one"
Well the third is my favorite in the series.
Something about being crippled and locked in a room with a spirit that wants to hurt you is just a terrifying thought.
That's what movies like Insidious do so well. It starts as a jump scare, but grows into a creeping, genuine scare
Dear Chris.
I have come to trust your movie advice and recommendations implicitly. Your clear love of the art of film making is apparent in every word spoken in each of your reviews. January is actually the best month for films in europe. All the good 'oscar films' come out now, while you Americans got to see them in december :)
Same goes to Latinamerica...spend the whole year watching Blockbusters and january is the "Award month"...
MrSquifler, have you been to an "everyman" cinema
MrSquifler worth a look, there's not many in the country but they're a nice way to see a movie, they show classics too
Stan nice Me too! It’s hard to explain but all the Oscar movies come out in that beginning of the year period whereas they always come out the end of the previous year in America. Really makes me feel like I’m missing out though :(
Stan nice south america too
Thanks so much for receiving this movie! I’m huge fan of the series and was apprehensive about seeing this one in theaters. Was waiting for a trusted critic’s review and I’ve always respected your work.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing this movie
BlueKnight it's shit.
BlueKnight it’s worth it, it’s good
BaronVonBielski it’s good
Im tired of prequels. I just want insidious to continue on after the 2nd movie. Ill still watch and enjoy it though i just would rather the next sequel to be a continuation.
Are you going to review bright?
icebergthegamer
I can't wait for him to shit on it like he did with The Emoji Movie 😂
He might not. The majority of viewers liked it.
You actually compared Bright a completely competent movie in its own right to the worst movie of 2017
Spoodermans 17
I despised Bright, but then this could be just due to my black and white thinking.
icebergthegamer He did already.
Is 2 AM really the best time to be watching horror movie reviews?
With Chris Stuckmann, it's always the best time.
Review The Raid: Redemption!! Extremely underrated action thriller with amazing fight choreography!
He did
@Angel Pygs I didn't know that :o Thanks for letting me know :D
Phoenix Plus it's not underrated in the slightest. It's hailed as one of the greatest action/martial arts films ever made.
Alex Daniels he probably meant to say it's underviewed or something
Alex Daniels It _is_ under hyped though.
Only found out about your channel one month ago and I gotta say, I'm a fan.
Keep up the extraordinary work Chris, thanks.
Usually as movies move onto a sequel & further in the franchise they steadily get worse..
No:1 Rory this is the worst of the franchise. They have super powers at one point it's so goofy
No:1 Rory i think insidious was good
No:1 Rory not bad boys
super what?
Really love what you said about Lin Shaye! Super happy/excited for her as I've always been curious re her character's backstory, and her acting in this franchise has always been consistently fantastic.
January isn't as bad for horror films as it used to be. For 2018, we have the solid Insidious 4, for 2017 the amazing Split and in 2016 the spooktacular Autopsy of Jane Doe (you see what I did there? )
Ps
I wonder if you read the comments, Chris. (just a thought :)
InMyFreeTime there are a LOT more horror movies in January that sucked.
Just watched your Batman V Superman script video and your feature lenght film. You're by far the most inspiring youtuber. Love you man
REVIEW THE PUNISHER PLEASE
I think it's cool that he can review a movie without revealing any major spoilers
All I wanna know is if this movie finally answers the big cliffhanger from Chapter 2.
I mean cmon, WTF did Elise see!!??
The Rue Morgue For fucks sake
+Dr. Manhattan dude how do you not know? It was the red faced demon. The wooden cracking sound it makes when it moves is heard
Jordan Scott But still I wanna see what happened afterwards
It was kinda obvious what she saw. The Lipstick Face Demon
Dr. Manhattan I think I see you alot around different channels on the comment section
Chris. Man I love your stuff. So excited to spend 2018 with you my dude!!
Happy January Chris..."Procced to grab the scotch bottle"

I watched "Insidious: The Last Key" yesterday without ever seeing the other movies in the franchise. Overall, it was pretty good. Am I the only one with the greatest showman soundtrack on repeat? 😍🔥
Rashaad Justice nope, same here
Nice review! Can't wait to follow you through this year with your movie reviews Chris.
that kissing scene was sooo out of place...
Wayne what was the kissing scene? Spill the beans
Very happy to hear that The Last Key is not terrible. I'm also a fan of the Insidious movies and now I am very excited to see it. Thanks for another great review!

Adrian Yap nice
My favorite time of year for Chris stuckmann
Can you do a review of the greatest showman?
Chris, I just want to say, but I love your videos. I've just had a really shit week but your upload reminds me why I have the motivation to keep going. You're the best man. :)
Glad to see this didn’t join The Devil Inside, Texas Chainsaw, The Bye-Bye Man, or all of those other awful horror films that release in January. While it’s not the best, it’s at least a step in the right direction

Hey Chris what’s up what’s ur take on the Logan Paul situation
Tom Suffan He says on Twitter
Tom Suffan he posted his thoughts on Twitter. Let’s not give Logan Paul any more attention than he already has.
Like he's going to answer to you hah. He doesn't answer to anyone.
Don't need to worry about other people's take on Logan Paul's shit. It's commonsense that it's stupid and disrespectful
Alex Townsend I think we should be giving Logan Paul more attention so something can be done to change his channel and how youtube works.
This is the only reviewer I will watch before going to see a movie. Thank you!
Im interested...lets see..
You are the greatest movie reviewer on RUclips, like it's not even close, nobody else is even in your league
Insidious: the last movie....I hope.
Cameren Ceniceros I hope it’s not I actually like the insidious story line because it’s always a different setting but it still connects to the story line
TheyHateNate exactly, thank youuu
Nope the next one is gonna be about the teaser from the second movie
Cameren Ceniceros I hope not. I loved this one and I don't know how they will make a sequel and not a prequel
In your Insidious Chapter 3 review you said it was a better film than Chapter 2. You praised the acting and directing and said it was just below the first film. Now in this review you say that the third one is worse than the second and is just “fine” and is on par with this one???
Do a review of amadeus pls.
Pls
Amadeus is a great movie. It's on my top 5 list so I would gladly watch Chris reviewing it.
Fantastic Review once again, Chris!
Review The Greatest Showman, It's Already Out!!!!!
When you knocked on wood, you missed a great opportunity for a gag where you hear someone knocking back.
Chris and Zach Pope uploaded at the same time 😂
Happy New Year Chris Stuckmann
Hey man love you vids !!!!
Okay where are my snacks... Damn I love you and your reviews. You inspire me.
Please review attack on titan
Ian Botello don't know if he would but that would be awesome
He mentioned it in his anime collection video. I think he said he didn't like very much but it was decent enough.
eh
+nothin good, Yeah that's true, it's overrated but good
I've been watching your videos for years, and as the title intro started playing, in my head I heard, "Insidious, the last key", and then I was like, "he starts all his videos with the title, how did I not realise this before?". Now that my epiphany is over I'll go back to watching the review
Slender man 🕴
I honestly have enjoyed every single Insidious film. I will continue to watch them. ❤️
Review the phantom thread!!

Keys on a hand. Scary stuff.
Art vandaley Key IS a finger!

And you're right its great to have an old lady as the lead . She was already the best thing in the other movies.
Notifications work
I actually think this could be a good January. Proud Mary and Paddington 2 look great and even Den of Thieves looks fun!
I grew up with a 74 year old woman
BoioBen prove it
She was always 74 year old as you grew up?
Sebastian Hernandez lmao! Did I do the meme wrong?
Hey Chris! I know u have touched on it in a previous Spielberg review, but I'd love to here more of your thoughts on Munich!
i kinda liked 3 better than 2
Same. It also helps that the main character in that one was hot.
Chapter 2 was very meh imo. It's the only movie of the trilogy that didn't unsettle me, at least a little. It wasn't bad, but 3 was pretty good
I actually really liked number 3 but number 1 was the best
Saturday Morning Cheap Seats insidious 1 than insidious 3 than part 2 but insidious 4 the last key is trash
I believe this is the correct and logical order that makes since:
A.) Did she take cases as a kid? NO; it was after she ran away; shown in part 4.

C.) Was Dalton her last case alive? Yes - shown in part 1
D.) Did she help fight for souls in the after life? Yes; shown in part 2.
*Therefore the timeline is: Part 4, Part 3, Part 1, then Part 2.*
I'm excited about the thrill of the movie. Oscar? hell yes.
Everything you say about the humour in this movie is how I feel about the humour in the new Star Wars movie and every Marvel movie.
Satan's Lot Hey, Marvel humor isn't usually as bad is TLJ
I'm Just Saiyan They're both honestly as bad as each other. I don't know how people can cringe at Transformers humour and then laugh at Marvel humour
Crippled Deathclaw The reason we have this cringey humour in Star Wars is because it was made popular by Marvel
Satan's Lot True dat ma nigga!
Quit acting like a bitch
Chris Stuckman grew up on Zod's snapped neck. Literally. No wonder it snapped.
GANGA NANG G
I met Lin Shane at Ralph’s here in California close to my house and she was so so sweet and a sweetheart and she smells like roses 😭😭💕
I sure the creator of this franchise is a METAL fan, because the Nun looks like Marilyn Manson and one of the demons looks like "Eddie" of IRON MAIDEN,huh??
Sammy Lane isn’t the conjuring the one with the Nun?
and the first guy looks like fucking darth maul
Anthony Turner Same director.
Cult Menace I can never keep up with if he’s directing or producing movies lol
Anthony Turner Haha fair enough. I don’t really care either considering, imo, he’ll never top Saw.
You are amazing with your reviews and I have come to pretty much rely on them to determine if I go see the movie in the theater or wait for DVD! Keep up the good work 😁😁😁
I thought it was awful. Definitely the worst one in the franchise.
Agent 16 i actually liked it
Hey Chris, I know you are probably busy reviewing and watching other movies but I was wondering if you could watch Train to Busan? It is probably one of the best zombie movies I have ever seen. It has amazing character development, super emotional and very intense.
Mindhunter
I could always rely on you on whether or not I'd go and see a movie. Thanks. I'd also like to know on your take on films for this award season.
He gave it a B- if you're wondering
Marilyn Feliciano Why thank you...
Don’t ruin it. Also just seeing the rating is a bad idea.

AAAH I love that elderly people are becoming main characters in media right now. I just watched the anime Inuyashiki and the main character is this old man and you would not expect him to be a protagonist, but he is and it's amazing and I am so glad that this is how media is becoming, it's so refreshing.
