    I’m pretty handy, but I have no experience with welding, so I got this welder. I could not be more happy. After a half hour of practice, my welds look fantastic, and the cut and etch, and bend testing show that they have good strength and penetration. I’m using dual shield, so maybe that has something to do with it, but it’s been a fantastic experience so far.

    Thanks for this! I bought this same welder about a month ago, and am teaching myself (with the help of YT, LOL!) I noticed that on 1/8, you set your machine to 125 amps, which is a lot lower than the chart that came with mine. With .035 wire, the chart says 165 amps if I remember correctly. I felt that was a bit too hot, but being a novice, I kinda gotta trust the manufacturer recommended settings. With NO experience whatsoever, I think a novice could use some help with base settings by someone who actually KNOWS what they're doing. If you could give us a good starting point based on your experience with different metal thickness, I'm sure ALL of us new welders would greatly appreciate it! Thanks again!!🤘🏻

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man! @Shock Wave Offroad. Another good resource is google "miller welds calculator". This is a handy tool to have also. 165 for .035 seems a bit high to me too. I would try around the 135 range.

    Great job on the welder review Brandon, sounds like an all in one unit which would be nice for those who can remember. I have too many brain faults minus the ul and insert r so it makes it difficult to remember . I like the idea though and 40 years ago would have loved to take up welding. At the upper half of 77 I enjoy the welding I piddle with around my shed on the mowers and trailer. I have fun with it when I get out there to play. Thanks for sharing with us, stay safe and keep the videos coming. Fred.

    I did the ammeter test today on a new 250 Pro. I noticed you did the Max/Min amp test so I did a running test. I got 210Amps running AL (synergy mode). But all of the steel modes (even manual) I only got 175 to 180Amps, despite the display claiming 250. In Stick mode it maxed out at 193amps. I also had a new Tooliom TL 250 which behaves exactly the same way. Its clear these are the same machines in different casing and controls. This is a good machine for sure but those claimed outputs seem to be exagerated.

    Hey Brandon.i love to watch your videos. Never been a real welder but have been passionate about welder as a hobby for years now. And recently bought the yeswelder 250 pro and never actually got to used it till yesterday and felt confused on all functions this welder has. Which I had save your video on this welder presentation at the time of buying it about 2 months ago. But let me tell you you are an incredible teacher. You make everything looking achievable for a no body like me lol. But.i watched your intire video this time and only.got to see the part about covid now. Which made me want to write to you. I really enjoyed watching your story because I can reflect on it. I am 46 years old and up to June 25th 2020 . I had been a full time advance care paramedic for 21 years. The reason I mentioned this to you is because that date changed my life. That day I had to.go get tested for covid on the afternoon only because I had been feeling very sick with all the exact dame symptoms you mentioned earlier in your video. And that dame very day at supper time after I managed to drag myself out of bed to the living room. I started to decrease consciousness and sustained bilateral internal carotide dissection which cause a massive right hemisphere stroke and nearly killed me and left me with a severe left side body deficit that affected anything related to.left side of my body. And triggered a full time rehabilitation that thrill today still going on pretty much everyday.i keep getting better month after months and able more and more to weld on.diferent projects that I soo enjoy doing. Most of it is possible in part because of people just like you who shared their knowledges and wisdom on welding. Like you iam the picture of health as I also was until this week going up to this day of June 2020. All the neurologists and many specialistthat assessed me since that day have no answer.to give on causes of why this even happened in the first place and don't understand how I manage to even survived this experience. I did test negative for covid that same day and never tested positive ever after despite that all my family got sick since and with displaying the exact same presentation.i have at same time and them testing positive . But funny story is my work partner also got very sick in the months after I sustained the cva with very weird symptoms which.described to myocarditis which he never experienced before. So my guess is that lucked out at some point in the week or days before I went down and both got pretty sick through soo many sick peoples we attended at the time .but this annoying story also has positive from it. My wife was a physiotherapist assistant working in intensive rehabilitation uniti at our local hospital for nearly 10 years at the time. So lucky or not. She was able to facilitate my rehabilitation through out the last 2 and half years. But last September. She really really needed a career change. So out of passion. She decided to go back to school for the next two years and become a welder fabricator which she very much excel at and getting ready in few weeks to get her first certification for cwa. Welding became a real passion for her as well and throughput this life challenge that our family went through. It allowed her to reorient her career to something that she really love as a welder. Plus she gets to teacher me soo much of what being a better welder is.. thanks again for all your videos and keep on doing a good job at it. Thanks again Brandon

Then through work we were forced to get vaccinated and I've had Covid 2x since then. It's no fun for sure. It sounds like I got really lucky compared to you but I'm glad to hear your on the mend and congratulations to your wife for the career change! I believe we can fight this off without going to the hospital. This is where the problem starts. I’m going to try the acupuncture because I’m feeling very similar to the way you were. Great video, Brandon, and informative. Always is!!! You do a great job with that. I watched it because at some point I will get a more modern welder, but for now, I have a Harbor Freight 125 that I converted to DCEN and a 40 year old AC/DC220V and a accetalene set up (small one). I am 76 years old and loving welding. I have done a couple of projects and your information has been invaluable. As for COVID, well, so far my wife and myself have been free of that illness. We vax and wear masks but not going to do any more vax's. We have always been home bodies, and so just the store and such for necessities. My Son and his wife and four kids have it and they are getting better with much the same symptoms you describe. I am going to suggest the accupunctuist to them. Stay well and Blesssings from my house to yours.

      @BrandonLund  2 года назад +1

      Thanks @Jim MacSuga your household sounds a lot like ours. My wife and I are both home bodies for the most part and we are both vaccinated but it still hit me pretty hard. It's very strange to me that something so simple as a few pin pricks could make such a difference but I'm a strong believer and faith and healing. The accupuncture doctor had a very interesting chart on his wall which shows specific areas they target for specific areas of the body. I'll admit I was a little scared at first because I thought it would hurt but it was the exact opposite. It was very relaxing and I will keep going back. You and you family stay healthy my firiend!

    Brandon, I just bought the cheapest plasma cutter on eBay. It's used, but well maintained. It's a Hiweld brand, has good reviews, and runs on about 40psi, so I can run it on my HVLP air compressor, which puts out 45 psi. It's dual voltage, so I can use it either way.
    I'll be getting my "new" workshop setup, and my first project should be my welding cart. I bought the bottom of a heavy duty welding cart, bought some angle iron, and a drawer section from an office desk, and with a little work and some other materials, I expect to have a nice cart when I'm done.

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Burnback is how long your wire stays charged after you let off the trigger. 1 would have all sorts of wire sticking out past your contact tip and it would probably freeze in the puddle while 10 would have it burn back all the way to the contact tip likely fusing it to the tip. Hope this helps. Some machines work the opposite based on the numbers but the principal is the same.

    Hi Brandon,
    glad you feel better now. Don't feel bad for something getting called placebo effect. Placebo effect IS real. The difference between placebo effect and a real effect isn't that one doesn't work. The difference is that for placebo effect the treatment doesn't matter. I've been with the volunteer firefighters for more than a decade. When handling kids we would often give them O² with a respirator. This does absolutely nothing from a medical perspective. But it absolutely helps those kids cope with their situation and made them feel better.
    There is also the inverse: nocebo effect. There's been a new study which found that 50% of the COVID vaccine side effects are actually nocebo effects. Of course, when you have some blood clogue, or some heart issues, this is a real effect. But many of the headaches, shivers and fevers people experience are actually just nocebo effects. In that study many of the people who didn't get the vaxx, but didn't know, experienced them.
    Our mind is a powerful tool and can do many great (and bad) things. So, whether you experienced a placebo effect or a real treatment effect doesn't matter. The important bit is that you feel and are better now. Don't get worked up about a name.
    Another corollary of this is that placebo effect is even better than actual treatment, if it works. Because treatments without actual effects also have no side effects 😉

      Don't want to spin this into a discussion, but I wanted to let you know that for some infections there is a thing called a cytokine storm. It's essentially the immune system going mad when fighting the virus. The stronger your immune system the worse it affects you. That's why the Spanish flu killed so many young soldiers and spared many older people back then. COVID isn't as prone to do this, but it has been observed as well.
      The jab is like a gym, it pre-trains your immune system. Even a strong immune system profits from knowing the enemy well beforehand.
      And, as with many other vaccinations, we today know that COVID requires a three dose vaccination. They call it the booster, but effectively it just completes the treatment. It's just that nobody knew, and nobody could know, that this was required for full effectiveness when they applied for CDC approval.
      You do you, but don't let "them" brainwash you with scare tactics for political reasons. I've had the booster roughly a month ago and it gives me the peace of mind to know that I'll have an even better chance to be there for my kids when Omicron inevitably has gotten to me sometime in the future.
      Greetings from Europe, where this is much less a blue/red issue (we don't even have blue/red) and much more a trust issue, which is why the vaccination rate goes down, the more you go to the east into former communist countries. Stay safe ...

      Lol @TheFalconJetDriver your last comment gave me a chuckle....Maine, not so much. Our govenor likes the power 😁. I think I've had covid 2x also. The first time being the sickest I have ever been. It was late 2019 but that was before we knew about Covid. I didn't have any lasting effects though. It just hit like a frieght train for a few days with a fever over 103 and then it went away quickly. My wife and I got vaccinated late this summer (J&J) The only reason I got vaccinated was because my wife was required for her work so I wanted to support her. We are both pretty healthy also. This second time hit like the first but it was the lasting side effects afterwards that worried me. It was the odd sensation of foggy head, extreme tiredless and lack of interest to do anything that really worried me. THEN i listened to my wife and saw the accupuncture guy. I'm hooked now! No more side effects and it was almost immediate. Pretty strange how our bodies work but I'm glad to be feeling normal again.

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  2 года назад

      Another great comment @Kommentator! I think I first got Covid in late 2019 before we knew about it. I got really sick (fever over 103) but recovered fast. For that reason my wife and I never really wanted to get vaccinated because we both consider ourselves fairly healthy people. We both get yearly checkups and we both have all of our immunizations. On a side note (to your heathy immune system comment which might be why I got so sick both times), I have done lots of work in sewer treatment plants and many will tell you that people that work in sewer treatment plants are some of the healthiest people on the planet because their immunie system becomes very strong. I actually fell into a sewer tank probably 25 years ago. I went completely underwater while working out of state and came close to dying from a muscle eating bacteria that was spread through my bloodstream so my body has a fairly decent immune system but I dygress, My wife and I were both leaning towards natural immunity only because nobody knows what the side effects of these medicines could be in 20 years. Then it became mandatory that my wife get vaccinated for her work so I got it the same day to support her. The second time I got Covid was like the first except once I felt better I would get these sudden feelings of foggy head and extreme tiredness. I was falling asleep in the afternoon. I had no motivation and things just felt weird. My wife convinced me to see the accupuncture guy and it was almost instant relief. The one thing I didn't mention in the video that I wish I did, Anxiety is one of the LONG TERM side effects associated with covid. To my surprise you can collect long term dissability benifits because our government has listed COVID as a dissability. Thankfully after seeing the accupuncture guy I feel great now. It was pretty much instant relief. And yes I get so irritated how this whole thing has become political because it really can effect how people make their decision on how they want to care for themselves.

    Have you welded any 1/4" thick steel? The synergy setting seems off to me. Pops rapidly like the wire speed is low. Rin on 10 didn't help. I tried manual settings recommended same results. • @BrandonLund

      I have not tried 1/4" with this machine but i suspect because the .030 is on the outer parameters for welding 1/4" that the machine isnt optomized for this diameter wire and material thickness. This thickness would require multi-pass The better choice would be .035 and i'm guessing the machine would be able to handle this much better.

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  2 года назад

      @Herman Pierce this is very subjective but I personally would start with flux core wire. You will want around 5/8" to 3/4" contact tip to work distance angle, make sure you are dragging rather than pushing your weld (to avoid slag entrapment) and it will help save the expensive gas during the learning process. With gas you can go in either direction (push or pull) and your contact tip to work distance is reduced to around 3/8". Congratulations on your purchase!
