      Next time your looking at them you'll notice there's a version of most common variation with an AL on the end of the code, they will last a considerable amount longer spraying aluminium 👍 your videos are good coming from someone that knows and has watched nearly all the people who do welding videos. There was not one bit of misinformation, spoken clearly aswell, im sure there will be plenty of young people learn from you 👨‍🏭👌

    Hey Brandon, Great job on these videos. You've got that grandson going in all the right directions. I can tell he really likes doing things with PapPaw in his shop. He pays close attention for one so young.
    I have a question for you. Is there 'the' definitive book on welding? I'd like to know about the latest advances in welders what each is good for. You're doing a great job but it will take you a long time and cost a lot of money to get to them all. That YesWelder intrigues me. I'm an old man (80) who's never welded anything and probably never will. but I'm really interested in the topic. I keep watching craigslist and the marketplace hoping to snag a cheap MIG that I can afford and learn with.

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  2 года назад

      @RH Hutchins Thank you so much for your great comment! Our grandson is such a blessing for us. We have him a couple days a week and we keep him busy as much as he keeps us busy lol. As far as a definitive book, i'm sure there is one but i get most of my current info from online tech articles. There are so many books out there that cover so many different topics that it would be hard to point you in one direction. I was actually pleasantly surprised to hear you say you have never welded but are very interrested in it. I have never been a machinist and will probably never own a machine but i watch a lot of videos and articles. I know where you are coming from and I commend you for keeping up with technology! A lot of folks much younger than you refuse to learn the internet lol. A great source of ENDLESS information is Weldingweb.com

    Thx Brandon, good video regarding settings. Were those last settings still for 1/8 or did you use thicker material?
    Why did you use 0.45 wire rather than 0.35? Could you not get spray transfer using thinner wire with slightly less volts?
    Those last welds certainly looked good!

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  4 месяца назад

      I think the 045 really works well on the thinner metal. If If I messed with the 035 more im sure I could find the sweet spot but it would take me a little practice. I try to keep a journal of settings with my machines when I find a good one. That helps too

  • @JohnnyCab

  • @johnmacmillan627

    Thx Brandon. Those last welds certainly looked good. Were the settings you used still on 1/8 or was it thicker material? Also, why did you prefer 0.45 wire rather than 0.35? Would 0.35 wire allow you to use less voltage to obtain spray transfer? Thx again

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  4 месяца назад

      The machine was still set for 1/8" but mig aluminum tends to run VERY hot so by using the thicker wire, it was in a way reducing its penetration.

    Love the finger in pocket thing ! Has he learnd the finger pull yet ? Ha Ha ! All good stuff Brandon ! I just started mig 030 gas making junk metal art ? Made a cat for my wife birthday . But haveing a hard time getting my mig to weld ? Some parts ok but most of the time pops leaves long wire with drip on end ! Have to cut off before i start agine . Is it the different metals ? Like to add a pic of the cat but dont know how ! Thanks Straigth Ahead !✌😎

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  2 года назад

      Thanks man I appreciate it! @Mike Love. Some of the things could be caused by the following, You want the polarity to to be on electrode positive. Flux core wire is run on electrode negative. If your drive tension is not set up properly it will cause the wire to not feed evenly, make sure your contact to work distance is around 3/8", make sure your settings are set according to the machine based on your material thickness. Unfortunately RUclips wont let you post pictures but you can on my Facebook if you have FB. The links are in the video description. People post lots of stuff in the community tab

    Nice video Brandon, I have a Yeswelder 250-PRO and I set it up for aluminium, I try the settings you put in, and I burn trough, the difference is I am using 4043 wire at .035 size, I am trying to weld 6061-T6 aluminum 1/8 thick, I tried all sorts of settings, up to now my best beads are at 18.2 volts and wire speed at 8.2, but the bead is very flat and if I try to join 2 pieces I don't seem to be able to lay enough material to fill the voids.... I can't seem to be able to find the sweet spot, is there a method to find the sweet spot, fiddling with both wire speed and volts sends me from almost not too bad to catastrophic, is there a pro welder here that could tell me a method to set up my machine right? Is it true that the wire speed modification, changes the amperage too?

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  7 месяцев назад

      Hey Tony, it's been a LONG time since I used that machine but I remember it took me quite a while to get it dialed in because the directions werent great. I had to experiment quite a bit to get it to work right. Are you using the card that came with the machine to get you close to the correct settings? What I do is set the machine to what the card says then adjust from there. Your in the right range for the wire size and material. I weld at 17.9 volts and 102 amps for your setup. I don't know if you can get your machine to read in amps but if so, this setting should work.

    Hey Brandon, I'm thinking about videoing the assembly of a plasma table I've ordered for my own review if there are problems and also to share on the companies forum. I have never videoed or edited anything before and I have done some research on software to assist with this process but you know how everybody thinks their product is the best. So I have decided to ask the people who do this every day to see what they recommend. I have no equipment or software at this point. That being said, if you don't mind my asking, what do you use to record and clean up your videos? I don't plan on putting stuff on RUclips unless something I run into may help others who are working on this same type of machine. I appreciate any help you can offer if you have the time.

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  2 года назад +2

      @David Haywood i know a lot of RUclipsrs that shoot video with their phone and it's what I did for quite a while. Probably my first 25 or so videos were on an android. The image stabilizers and video quality of the phones now are going to be just as good as any mid-range cameras and most all film in 1080 resolution @60 frames per second which will give you a smooth slow motion shot if you need to slow down the action when editing. I then switched to a panasonic handycam that was my daughters for a school project. That camera got ruined when a welding spark burned the lens so I replaced it with the same model that I found used on EBay for 10 dollars. I did a hundred or so videos with that one until recently I've upgraded to a panasonic handycam that can shoot 4k but it's not necessary for what I do. I've settled on shooting video at 1920x1080 at 30 FPS and I can’t tell the difference between any of the cameras I've used on my channel when filed at the same frame rate. Pretty much anything will work if you have good lighting. As far as editing software, that’s varied by user and everyone has their preference. I like Davinci Resolve for my RUclips videos which I edit on a laptop. If you go the phone route (which is what I did starting out) just record video on your phone. To edit them, just download the Filmora Go App on your phone and you are all set. Filmora Go is a really simple video editing app with all kinds of features. I recommend the paid lifetime version which is what I have. I use the Filmora App for whenever I'm editing videos that I shot with my phone. Good luck my friend!
