    For anyone doing this on the ground, I recommend you take off the subframe bolts completely. this gives you much more room to fight the trans with. I also built an engine holder with a long plank of wood and extensions on the fender/frame area. i then tied a ratchet strap around the engine to secure it.

    Bro I appreciate the time you took doing the video and especially showing how to put everything back together!! I’ve seen to many videos on how to take something apart and maybe put a few pieces back on but not show something that may have been very needed to show how to put back on. Thank you this seems like a lot of work but ima keep watching and take my time with it till it’s completed

    The only issue I have with replacing a dual mass flywheel with a solid one, is that the idea of a dual mass flywheel is to reduce the strain ( wear and tear) on the gearbox components especially when pulling away and accelerating. Surely this is why Mazda didn't fit a solid flywheel in the first place. I realize in a situation where a car has been modded and the power of the engine has been dramatically increased the standard clutch set up will not be up to the job. It must though shorten the life of the gearbox/ differential to have all these extra stresses passing through it - something the original transmission was not designed for.

    • @nestothepesto5178
      @nestothepesto5178 3 года назад

      I think it might have more to do with them making it quiet/easy to drive. For example the new Civic Si's have a DMF but the type R has a regular clutch and its much heavier/has way more feel than the Si and is "harder" to drive.

    • @menoke45
      @menoke45 3 года назад +2

      Dual Mass Flywheels (DMF) are developed by OE's for each application primarily to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). Putting the springs in the flywheel allows for more design flexibility (larger angular displacement) than clutch disc hub springs. This is ideal for a pure stock setup, where customers expect zero noises from the driveline. If the engine torque is increased, the DMF can become a liability. Besides the enormous rotating weight, the larger loads can really accelerate the normal wear rate. They do have a service life, and increased stress can shorten it substantially. Single Mass Flywheels (if designed and manufactured properly) avoid this entirely.
      The torque rating of the transmission is (nearly) independent of the flywheel design. The hub springs in the ACT clutch shown in this video provide some important cushioning for shock loading, yet life expectancy of the gearbox components is tied much more proportionally to the engine's torque output and the driver's skill versus abuse level.

      you just need turn transmission about 45 degree clockwise and tilt about 20 degree flat, once the transmission covers the clutch kit, you turn transmission 45 anticlockwise. Mazdaspeed 3 is so tight to work with -:)

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology

      Since the MazdaSpeed 6 is All wheel Drive and the MazdaSpeed 3 is FWD, obviously removing the drive shaft and the transfer case will be different. Ultimately there are other differences as well, we would suggest that you attain a factory service manual to aid you on the replacement of your clutch.

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  4 года назад +3

      We used a slide hammer with a puller adapter on it. They make many different kinds and there are many different ways to get a pilot bearing out. With the bearing style you have you can try using grease or papermache and getting a soild piece of metal that fits the pilot bearing ID something close to the same size as the part of your input shaft that goes inside of the bearing. Fill it up and use a hammer to hydraulically push out the bearing. Search on RUclips and you will see how people do this method.

    • @colehelterbrand3446
      @colehelterbrand3446 4 года назад +1

      @@AdvancedClutchTechnology I tried the grease method along with using some bread actually. I couldn't get either to work because of how tight mine was. I ended up buying a pilot bearing puller kit from Harbor Freight, but I realized later that you can actually rent the tool from Autozone. The kit I used had a conical threaded pipe with relief cuts to allow it to expand inside the bearing once it was tightened up. It allowed for pretty even pressure as I used the slide hammer like in the video here. Got mine out in about 10 good hits.

      As the sedan or hatch non-turbo both share the front wheel drive platform with the Mazdaspeed3, the installation would be very similar, however, because it does not share the same engine and transmission, it will not be 100% the same. We would suggest sourcing a factory service manual for the correct procedures and torque specifications.
