    The videos are described as "Official Visualizers" -- but they are more than than that; there are subtle variations in the repeated scenes.

    She's so underated

    The bird in the video is a Pied Crow, which is a small African raven.

    I think what Poppy is doing with her Metalcore songs is demonstrating her complete mastery of the genre. She is employing ALL the Metalcore tropes. What critics overlook is that no one band has done that -- and certainly not on the same album.

    Hell yeah! I was definitely one of the people that suggested this song, and I'm glad you got around to this and enjoyed it! That was pretty much my reaction: this is the metalcore formula but 1. it slaps and 2. it was surprising to hear Poppy do something like this for the first time and with some of her best vocals to date on this and other songs from Negative Spaces.
    Like others have said, Crystallized is amazing and something totally different. My personal favorite song from Negative Spaces is Surviving on Defiance but that doesn't have a video. If you want to check out one of her most 'classic' songs, i.e. common encore type song at shows, check out "Concrete."

      @kaNjiXIII Hell yeah. You simply must.
      I could try to explain the difference from her old metal stuff... but it's probably best to experience it for yourself haha

  • @johnbriggs3916

    Funnily enough, the criticism of this song is that it is "just" standard Metalcore -- overlooking how good it is.
    The other singles from the album are Metalcore ("New Way Out" and "The Cost of Giving Up") except for "The Center's Falling Out" (Hardcore) and "Crystallized" (Synthpop!)
    The album "Negative Spaces" is a mixture of Metalcore, Nu Metal and Synthpop. Poppy has been doing the rounds of Metal festivals singing Synthpop songs!

    I think in 10-20 years Poppy will be remembered as legendary level music. Cool reaction/vid.
    Also, friendly tip from one creator to another, your thumbnails are very hard to discern what's' going on in them. Monochromatic colors and busy background layer make it to where people can barely tell what any of it is unless fullscreen on a PC

    • @kaNjiXIII
      @kaNjiXIII  8 дней назад

      I hope so, so far I really think she would deserve that. :)
      Thanks a lot for the feedback on the thumbnails, I really appreciate that and I think you are absolutely right. In a way I want to do what represents me, but I also probably overthink the thumbnails. Now that I'm 70 videos in I'll probably experiment a bit with them.
      Also, subbed. :)

    I've had this album on repeat since it came out. No skips. If you want something totally different (and not metal) go with Crystallized. But New Way Out, as previously recommended, would be the logical next song to check out. Loved the reaction!

    Great reaction! Not sure if you ever react to albums, but imo Poppy's albums, the last one being a great example - are great for that, it's not too long, it's catchy and it's diverse!
    Just optimistically throwing the idea out there, pretty sure there will be separate song suggestions aplenty otherwise 😅

    Her album from November 15th last year is epic. It's produced mostly by Jordan Fish (Ex Bmth) If you want to go down the rabbithole and like metalcoreish music you MUST start with the latest album. Poppy mostly use visualizer, not videos of late. She have done very much weird things in the past. Synthpop being one of the genres..

      Thanks so much for the insight, that makes a lot of sense, getting him on board.
      I thin I need a video about who Poppy is and then I will go into more songs, because everything's a complete mystery to me...

      @kaNjiXIII good luck on that 😅 Whatever I read about her the common thing is that she is weird (in a good way)

    I see a few people suggesting “New Way Out”, which took me a while to get into myself as a long time fan bc I felt it to be even MORE generic than this one (but I loved They’re All Around Us INSTANTLY, the verses give me more throwback Slipknot than metalcore imo!!). But it is good. Just dropping that opinion in the ring.
    If you want an older Poppy metal classic, “BLOODMONEY” and “Concrete” are both fantastic picks from her 2020 album “I Disagree”. Those songs would also give you more of a scope on the diversity of her use of metal :))

      I went with "New way out" today, gonna post it this week and I know what you mean, still loved it, but not the way I was steamrolled with "They're all around us".
      I think I'm gonna do a "Who is Poppy" video if I find one, but I think there has to be something, because I want to know more background stuff. :D

    Artists name was very missleading. Music and vocals were so far from ' poppy'. Birds were magpies, very nasty sounding creatures. Quite many female vocalists seem to express themselves through growling nowadays. At first I thought it was like special-effect for 1 or 2, but now I find it becoming mainstream of this genre. Intertesting to see what might be the next invention in singing. ...Thanks for teaching new things...Kaisa ❤

      Hey Kaisa, hope you're good. :) Sorry for not being so responsive at the moment, I'm a bit in a depression hole right now... :/
      Yes, I love it how misleading it is, I knew about it because of the other songs, she sang with other bands, but wooow, that still blew me away.
      I think we are still far from mainstream, but I really love it, at the moment I almost exclusively listen to bands with female singer, which is weird, since the genre is usually male dominated, really love to see it.

    • @KaisaValkama
      @KaisaValkama 12 дней назад

      Hi and thank you for answering ❤I have been very tired because my work is too ' heavy' for me from now on. I hope your depression will pass soon. I know we both like music from more or less marginal genres, I just ment that most of those female vocalists are growling. Maybe they noticed too that the genres history is filled with male singers and wanted to chance that. YT is automaticly suggesting your videos for me, so i keep watching and learning more. Don't hurry responding. I understand if you don't have time for that. I just like the way you make reactions ..and your gentle voice..yours Kaisa ❤
